Detective Grimoire
Detective Grimoire is a point-and-click carnival murder mystery in which you play the title character, a hatless (but not hapless) crime-solver assigned to track down the murderer of Hugh Everton, ineffective caretaker of the carnival funhouse. It contains a higher-than-average level of cheese, but what good cheesy mystery doesn't?

hooray for us! we win! *dance*
I really enjoyed this game, and I loved the dance sequence at the end. I guess my only complaint is that a lot of times, I felt that people were only proven innocent because I had gotten all the information I needed out of them, not because they had actually provided information as to why they were innocent.
Still though, a very enjoyable game, well animated, and a nice way to spend 20-30 minutes.
Were really 60 minutes full of joy!
However personally I prefer to Columbo-style detective, and would love for once to play a columbo detective where your succeed by playing the absent-minded, while gathering clues and always talking with the one suspect until you got him... and on your way out.. oh I just have one more question! :-)
Emily - Leave your mouse on his right eye (to your left) so he's looking away from the suspect - they'll have a short conversation - the screen will flash and show a closeup of our hatless hero - when that happens it's safe to move your mouse quickly (not insanely quickly, just with decent speed) to the right - took me a few tries to get it down.
Jon MW: O yes - I too somehow overlooked that whole "show them the evidence" thing - was a bit frustrating, but fortunately the order of gameplay allowed you to do all that after your first round of questioning - could've stalled out the game completely if it was needed for earlier progression
Note to SFB: About the clues - You may want to provide a more blatant prompt for a previously unused action. You used phrases like "I should ask her about..." & it seemed like there was just more questioning to do. (Perhaps "I should bring this ---- to her attention." would have been clearer?) I completely missed out on using the clues (other than collecting them) until I'd run out of other options. Still, thanks for a very fun game! It was clear that a lot of time and work went in to it!
I didn't need many clues to figure THIS one out!
The oil spill, and the blue colored wrench was all I needed. What I don't understand was the old stuffed animal. It wasn't a very helpful object I could assume.
I also found it difficult to hear that maddy, a young, hard working girl, had an murderer for an uncle... depressing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Brilliant stuff. I finished it in an hour with no help (excluding the tab button cause I got bored of using the mouse lol). Anyone know any other flash games like this? After completing it the first time, I went back to it and finished parts I missed the first time. I didn't know you could
drag the items out of the bin and the boards from the fun house lol, until my second time through.
The first time the items showed up anyway at the end of the game.
Thoroughly enjoyable. I recommend this game to everyone, unless you are below the age of 12 and/or easily scared by carnival music :P
I got most the stuff and i figured out who did it before i looked at the walkthrough but i still have 2 suspects and i need help. My suspects are
The Machaniic and the Scary guy in the costume in front of the hall of mirrors ( i don't feel like looking at the names right now but you get it
I am missing one clue and i would really apreciate it if someone put a list of clues up or a screen shot of them or something. These are the clues i have so far... could someone please post the last one?!?!?
Old Toys, Books, Green Marker, "To Do List", Weapon, Rag, Red Nose, Oil, Marks On Floor, Broken Mirror, Broken Shards, Wire Cutters, Drawing, Writing, Cut Wire, Pen Pot, and Calender
I put them exacly as it said it on the game so the names might seem weird to you but i need help non'the'less!!!
ANSWER:
Pete, the mechanic guy, murdered Hugh.
I would give this game a
9.5
Out of ten.
I thought the creepiest part was in the office below the Fun House when you clicked on the mirror and
SHING!!!
out comes a huge bloody mirror piece!!!
Oh! and lastly!!
THE LITTLE DANCING PEOPLE WERE THE GREATEST!!!! please make more of these games!!
This game has to be one of the best detective flash games ever! I just love detective games! The dancing att the end made it seem it was worth it!
I love murder detective cases rather than lawyer ones like Phoniex Wright. Which I think you put a mix in!
If anybody knows any othor detective games, contact me on my e-mail or tell me here! I already know perfect summit and this one.
This fun puzzle game felt like Phoniex Wright and Clue{the detective gameboard}
mixed together!
I will write spoilers next:
The mechanic(Pete)
Killed Hugh
with a Broken glass shard
in the Hall of Mirrors!
^^^^
Those are references to clue by doing what they did except just for this game.
I knew
Pete
did it exactly when the Boss said he went out for lunch and the wires from the cooler were cut. And wen Jery said the wire cutter was in the bin.
Oh and clowns are always a main suspect in these kinds of games, but they always seem to be innocent in the end and the guy whos ubexpected to be the killer is well... the killer.
Keep it up super flash bros!
As soon as I found
the wire cutters in the rubbish bin and noted the cut wire behind the water cooler, it all fell into place and I knew it had been Peter that had stabbed Hugh using the remainder of the funhouse mirror. Though... that mysterious young girl kept bouncing around in the back of my mind. She must have had something to do with the lot somehow, but how? And I think the stuffed animals were merely there for flavour. Haven't we all at one point or another seethed over the fact that we shell out hard-earned money in order to possibly obtain some small novelty that cost in all likelihood a rather small fraction of what we paid?
I am just starting the game and i have two questions.
1. I am trying that get the truth thing. The sencond it starts the light flashes and he just says ,I think i missed somthing. Am i doing somthing wrong?
*Please responed asap*
2. Is it just my computer or do all the games have really slow talking??? I know you can skip but still.
At first i thought it would be some wierd twist that it would be the
Girl
but obviously not as soon as i had found
The wire cutters
i knew it was
Pete
so flipping obvious ! i just thought the dancing people at the end were wierd . I only used the walkthrough to finish off the clues !
Much lovin x
P.s good game
Yeah, this is an excellent game! :-D
One complaint I did have is
it's way too easy to figure out who did it, I figured it out about a third of the way through
and
it's a bit hard to figure out how to prove everyone else innocent, I frequently had no idea what I'd done to change the red to green.
Imagine the egg on my face when after I'd beaten it (yes, I beat it without any hints), I checked the hints and found out
that you don't need to prove all five of the others innocent, you just have to go back to the car park and take the test once you know who did it and how. They should have made that clearer in the instructions.
I almost slipped up on
one of the questions in the final exam, where you are asked why he wrapped the weapon in the rag, I almost clicked the wrong option before I saw the one below it,
but I caught myself in time and clicked the right one. Voila!
Anyway, still a great game in spite of the flaws. I especially liked
the revelation that the park isn't actually run down, it's just designed to look that way,
that was great, but I would have liked to see
the cleaning guy and Mandy get together at the end,
that would have made it absolutely perfect.
woo! I finished it. (by using a walkthrough i confess)Here it is
Pete the mechanic done it
Now you know who done it.
But you don't have to prove the other five innocent just go back to the car park and take the test. I think.
Pete is the murderer The weopen is the glass shard. So he would be called into fix it. In the toilet cubicle. To frame Charles Ringer. Because Pete olied the door before going in. Pete wiped up more oil. All of the above
Woo! You have now completed it good for u! Now dance!
I thought this game was really good (i rate it 10/10)
i thought the best bit was the ending when all the lil people were dancing (10/10 for dancing)
the person who did it was...
Pete the mechanic
(i confess i used the walkthrough for the middle :s)
This game was great and i hope (HOPE) THAT THEY MAKE MORE GAMES LIKE THIS.
another spoiler
No spoiler i just made you click
this is a real spoiler though
not really,i just loved the lil people dancing at the end they were soo cute =D
I think my favorite line is:
GRIMOIRE: "So, have you been manager of the fairground long?"
COILS: "Yeah. As long as I can remember."
GRIMOIRE: (So... about 5 minutes then?)
That was just plain funny.
Um, Team Army, why did you post the walkthrough that had already been posted, but without the spoiler tags?
[Edit: Thanks, Sylocat. I've deleted the comment. I don't understand why some people do that. =/ -Jay]
I actually like the sounds the people make when they talk (like "hmmm" or "hahaha" or "ahem"..). I reckon it creates a warmth to the game (because I was playing this game at night and I seroiusly got freaked by the music outside the Funground and in the toilet. And although the game was not really hard, it was still pretty interesting which made it good, i rate it 8/10!
I found all of the clues, but I can tell there's info missing, because of blanks on the note pages and so on.
So I checked out the spoilers, and you're supposed to be able to click on the books and then be able to ask Mandy about them. Logical enough, which is why I TRIED it (long before reading the spoilers), but didn't get that option.
After reading the spoilers, I started a new game (and a third one) in case I had done something wrong, and same result - no option to ask her about the books!
I think I missed a couple others like that, and it's annoying to do the right thing and have it not work.
I need help.
I noe all the clues but the last one.
I have:
the
stuffed animals
,
mandys books
, the
green pen
, the
to-do list,
,
murder weapon
the clowns rag
clowns nose n oil spill
broken mirror n broekn shards
drawing and the writing
wire cutters,calendar,and the cut wire
I also have the
pen pot
wat is the last clue? and how do i prove the clown innocent?
help me plz before 3:00 today
thanks
Oh yeah. I finished this game yesterday...or was it a couple of days ago? Well, it took me an hour. I didn't need any help, I kinda guessed when I found the wrench in the trash. It was obvious. I like Charles, I don't really know why. But he's kinda cool. Hahaha. Loved the game. I hope they make another, hopefully. *thumbs up* GOOD GAME MATE LOL
Interesting game.
Ricky was the 1st guy I got to confess. ask him about
his fight w/the clown dude
yeah. One more:
2 questions: Why isn't the little girl in the credits? She was cute. What is the last clue that you don't need to solve the mystery? I think its in the Hall of Mirrors but I never found it and I solved the mystery
Kind of like a cheesier version of the Phoenix Wright "investigation" mode. Except instead of psyche-locks, you get... eye contact interrogation? WTF?
Man, that little girl creeped me out. I wouldn't have been surprised if she was the murderer. But that's not cheesy at all!
Game's too easy, I finished it in about 20 minutes on my own. But I guess I did play every single Ace Attorney case made to date. I'm a freak. :D
we got all the clues apart from one.
in the toilet you will find a scribble on the wall that says clowns rule , this cant be clicked but will show up at the end of the game when everyone is innocent apart from pete when you discover this go see officer james, we spent forever trying to get pete to confess
ahaha, that was easy. :D i played this a long time ago, and beat it, but i HAD to play it again.
10/10 for the little dancing people. Lil' Detective Grimoire was the cutest little dancerr!
That spoiler, is just saying stuff about the dancers. please read, though!
JUST KIDDING! HAHA.GUESS WHAT, ALL? Pete, Mandy's uncle, the old fellow, the fellow mechanic, the mechanical murderer, murdered, Hughey the old guy, the old deaf funhouse owner, the useless worker, the worker with no use. :DD
