Tales of Carmelot: The Missing Pot of Gold

KimberlyAll is not well in the kingdom of Carmelot. The royal pot of gold has gone missing and the distraught king desperately needs someone to track it down, in a new Carmel Games point-and-click adventure game, Tales of Carmelot: The Missing Pot of Gold. That someone is you, playing as town hero Ryan O'Brien. Use your adventuring skills, along with a little magic and luck of the Irish, to find the gold your kingdom depends on. You'll need to solve puzzles, gather magical ingredients, and... to do a magical dance, you say? Hmmmm...

Tales of Carmelot: The Missing Pot of GoldSimply point-and-click your way around town. Arrows appear where you can exit the screen, and the cursor will change when you find something or someone to interact with. A map lets you travel quickly between areas, and items you pick up in your travels will be displayed on the bottom of the screen, where you just have to click on them to use them. The voice acting is about on par with other Carmel Games adventures, which you can turn off in the options menu (though there is one puzzle which I found easier to solve with the voices on). The quest flows smoothly... it's always fairly straightforward with what you need to do next, and there's no huge leaps of logic. The music in Tales of Camelot is lovely and adds a lot to the Irish atmosphere of the game. I quite enjoyed the quaint town of Carmelot, and hope to see some future adventures set in the kingdom.

Pretty straight forward game, not too hard. 3/5.

1 out of 5 mushrooms.

The puzzles were just a wee bit below standard for the casual games I'm used to playing, which is actually not that bad of a thing. However, the voice acting was so absolutely TERRIBLE that I wanted to laugh... or cry. It ruined the game for me.

Hi Kimberly,

Although the option to turn the voices off was alluring, I like to judge the game based on all its parts.

Dick van Dyke must be relieved to know that he no longer holds the position of worst accent attempt in recorded history.

I'm stuck. I can't figure out how to combine the spell and the carpet. They obviously go together, but I can't figure out how.

Never mind; just figured it out. They really shouldn't make it automatic like that; it just makes things confusing. Either I have a carpet that can fly, or I don't!
