TrinnMystery Shack MysteryDisney's Gravity Falls is about a small, rural town in Oregon where strange, occult happenings are an undercurrent to every day life. But for two of its denizens, Dipper and his sister Mabel, the outside world is out of reach when Grunkle Stan accidentally locks them in the attic of his museum/home/bizarre curios shop. Now it's up to you to help them break free in this point-and-click adventure game, the Mystery Shack Mystery.

Play as either Dipper Pines, the intelligent and insatiably curious young adventurer, or as his adorably goofy sibling Mabel. Each character offers a slightly different experience while you collect items, search for clues, and most importantly, escape! A changing cursor helps to eliminate most of the pixel hunting and a hint button exists to offer a useful nudge if you need it. The game isn't particularly difficult or long, and Mystery Shack Escape probably would have been a more fitting title given the lack of any one overlying mystery. However, these shortcomings are counterbalanced by a bunch of laughs, secret easter eggs for fans of the show (including a very esoteric coded message), and some inventory-based puzzling that's suitable for kids and inner children alike.

The Super Secret Message

  • NOTE: The following content includes spoilers pertaining to both the game and the animated show Gravity Falls. Please do not continue if you do not wish to view these spoilers.

  • Play the game normally as either character until you reach the Gift Shop Souvenirs area.

  • Move the cursor over the stone tablets before you solve the puzzle to view a coded message:

    • "HYHU QRWLFHG VWDQV WDWWRR"

    • The only way to decode this message is to know the secret cypher played at the end of the intro to the Gravity Falls animated show.

    • A voice heard under the intro music whispers a message that, when played backwards, says "Three Letters Back".

    • Using this clue, go three letters back for each letter of the coded message found in the game to decypher it.

      • For example, Three letters back from H is E, from Y is V, and from U is R.

      • Thus, the first word "HYHU" translates to "EVER".

      • The final decoded message is: "EVER NOTICED STAN'S TATTOO?"

The link just redirects to the disney homepage for me.

[It might have something to do with where in the world you are located. Perhaps the Disney site redirects traffic based on country of origin? The links work for all of us here at US JIG headquarters, so I don't know what to tell you. You could try visiting via a US proxy server, that is if you were really keen on playing this one. In any case, we'll tuck this away for future reference and may choose to ignore future Disney games because of this. -Jay]

I am getting Disney home page also (in UK)

Also just a question if I may, I thought of JIG as an indie dev site, so am a little confused with a disney title.

I ask because there is my first love of MMORPG I would love to submit for inclusion, but is Sony not Indie and went FTP just a few months back.. what are the chances exactly..well not the chances but more the guide lines

Yes is a recovering EQ addict asking the question, but about to give in to my addiction, and return to my too long neglected Mage.

((mods feel free to spoiler this if it is to long of an off topic ask))

We're indie, we're casual, we're mobile and browser. If a game can be found somewhere on the Web, it's fair game for us to cover it, we follow no strict guidelines other than a game must be fun or interesting to play. We generally steer clear of MMORPGs and Facebook games, though, as a rule, but again not a strict one, just a preference, I think.

I can't access it from NZ either. Going to the international site and clicking on USA lets me into the homepage, but as soon as I click the games link it's redirecting back to the start page. Looks like it's just plain impossible to access the US site outside of the US.

@Trinn, sorry but it does seem to be going around in circles back to the home page, even when I select US ... but no worries... tomorrow will find a solution

@Jay thanks for the comments ...my first love is fun and fun and frustrating to the extreme but hey it cannot be worse than pocket planes :)

Sorry! We'll have to think twice about posting games from big corporations (with their bureaucratic red tape) like this in the future. Probably not worth the problems they cause.

Not the end of the world, but wish it would just say "content not available in your country" or something, instead of just going round and round in circles...

Link has been updated both US and international visitors should be able to play without issue now. Thank you, Canada!

Can't access it from Singapore either... And clicking the link in the comments just redirects me to the start page. All the other ways mentioned in the comments have the same result too.

Tell you what though, the original circle of URLs on the site did lead me to a great little Spiderman three mission platform, ninja, swinging shooter there :)
