elleelle_metropolisamnesia_3.jpgFans of classic dystopian sci-fi films and avid escapers both know there is never enough of a good thing to go around: all movies fade to black, all escape games have an exit. If they're built right, with inventiveness and sentiment, you're always left wanting another. Metropolis Amnesia, a new escape game from Timefall, is not much more than a trailer: a teasing portion of puzzles and a few cleanly-designed rooms to investigate. Yet the convivial winks at cinematic cult favs give Metropolis Amnesia its heart, making it worth breaking for. The design is well-planned and easy to navigate, quickly completed near the 15-minute mark. In that span of time, as you explore this modern-decor flat, you need only be observant, jot a couple notes, employ a bit of deductive reasoning and make sense of a jumbled picture—not so easy as to insult your intelligence, just affable enough to enjoy while reminding you of that old favorite best watched with lights down and a bucket full of popcorn.

"Between the mind that plans and the hands that build there must be a Mediator, and this must be the heart." - Metropolis(1927)

It was a nice little game, there was just one point that I thought was totally random and illogical, which is the bit that bxgurl813 is stuck on on!

Try taking that gem to the picture hanging above the bed in the second room. Don't ask me why it does what it does, but give it a go!

It makes no sense, I know. But other than that, this game was nice!

Argh. PoP will probably mean that I figure it out once I hit "submit", BUT...I started this then had to go do something and now cannot remember if/when I've seen the clue that tells one

how to unlock the rightmost cabinet, w/ the four shape buttons.

Hint? Please? I'm not sure if I just feel like I've seen it or if it's just because of playing so very, very many games where I've seen things like it in the past...

Think it is supposed to be that you cut the glass of the picture with the diamond.

However, I got it just by having that object as the only item in my inventory, having it selected, and clicking on everything. Yay unintended brute forcing!

I completed the puzzle, but now what? I think I need the username/password for the laptop, but

I've tried all combinations of Metropolis and Fritz Lang, but none of them work. I don't see what other information the poster is supposed to give me.

LOL yep, power of posting. Ironically, I'd even been

keeping track of the shapes available--so I could recognize the clue when I ran across it again, naturally--by saying the numbers of the sides in my head. Only a matter of time before I looked at the TV again, I guess.

Of course I immediately figured it out after posting. What threw me off is that pressing enter in the username or password box actually inserts a new line into the box! That makes it look like the password was rejected and cleared to try again, but it's still there, hidden, foiling your attempts to enter the correct password. You have to delete it manually even if it looks like there's nothing there.

Have you got the remote control yet?

I'm pretty sure I'm nearly done, only...

I've solved the picture, but still can't figure out the password. I'm assuming the name is "Smith", from the diary. I've tried "Eureka!" "Metropolis" "Lang" and "Maria".

Paul:

JIGuest mentioned that "pressing enter in the username or password box actually inserts a new line into the box." So if you've been pressing enter, you'll have a bunch of lines above the one you're typing, making it impossible to type the right answer. Try backspacing until you can't go any farther, then type the answers.
