Plants vs. Zombies only $6.99!

Plants vs. Zombies

For any Windows users out there who have been holding off on purchasing the brilliant and hugely enjoyable Plants vs. Zombies from PopCap, wait no longer!

Plants vs. Zombies is now available from Big Fish Games for a mere $6.99! That's a steal of a deal for a game that will likely be in the running for Casual Game of the Year 2009.

Big Fish Game Club changes

In fact, ALL GAMES are now $6.99 at Big Fish due to a significant change to the Big Fish Game Club. Gone are the restrictions and requirements, you can join or cancel at any time! That means if you're paying more than $6.99 for any game at Big Fish, you're paying too much.

Here's how it works:

  1. Join the game club (for $6.99) and you immediately get 1 game club credit to use for any game you want.
  2. Then cancel (if you want) and you will never be billed again.
  3. Join and cancel as often and whenever you wish. All games: $6.99.

What could be more simple than that?

Why are they not offering the mac version at that price point? I would certainly get it now if they did...

Jason: It's very likely that the Mac version of Plants vs Zombies will be made available at Big Fish soon, but there are a couple of reasons that I can think of to explain the delay.

  1. The initial Mac version of Plants vs. Zombies (v1.0) has a bug that causes the game to crash intermittently (not frequently, but often enough to warrant a fix). They may be waiting to fix that before allowing other sites to offer the Mac version.

  2. And, PopCap doesn't usually release its games for the Mac platform, so there may be some extra development costs they need to recoup by selling the Mac version exclusively through PopCap's own website (for a higher profit margin).

I suppose it should have been obvious that this would install an annoying "game manager" program to even be able to play, but for some reason I didn't realize it until I had purchased. What a waste. This game can't be that addictive if I have to start up this awful program every time to be able to play it.

Yeah it is. It's totally worth it.

And yes, all games for Windows from Big Fish come with the Big Fish Games Manager (Mac games are all standalone).

But you would be surprised how many people actually appreciate the game manager for helping to keep all games tidy and in one central location (especially on Windows).

I despise game managers (and Realplayer, and tool bar add-ons, and Norton, and anything extraneous really) as well, but I find Big Fish's pretty innocuous. It's less bloated and bothersome than Steam, and that's saying something since Steam isn't really so bad either. I wouldn't say that I appreciate it, but it doesn't get in my way either.

What Emerald said. It's also useful for people like me who likes to make their desktops and Start menu less cluttered.

No love for Mac users :(

I am having a problem with this game being stuck on a level. What I mean is that I can make lots of progress in the game, but when I close and relaunch it, it comes back to level 1-10, regardless of how far I got last time I played. So all my progress is lost! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but that doesn't help-- somehow the new copy still remembers my user data, and continues to not be able to update it. Obviously some certain file isn't getting deleted during the uninstall, and can no longer be written to. I wrote to Big Fish Games for help, but the things they suggested didn't work. Anyone else seen this problem or have a fix? Any help would be so appreciated.

FYI, I'm running it on Windows Vista.
