Virtual Families

Virtual Families

MarcusVirtual Families is the latest addition to the impressive lineup of simulation games from Last Day of Work, makers of the Virtual Villagers series. Virtual Families takes the basic concepts of Virtual Villagers and brings them home — literally. No longer are you concerned with a village of people trying to survive the ravages of the wild. Now it's just a single family in a single house. While the concept may seem over-simplified when compared to Virtual Villagers, you'll find that it's less about simplifying the game and more about concentrating on the details.

Virtual FamiliesYou begin by adopting your first virtual person. This is a very important choice to make early on, as the attributes that you settle on will affect how the rest of the game plays out. You can go through any number of different people to adopt. Each has their own physical appearance, profession, salary, likes and dislikes, and opinion on whether or not they want children. This last attribute is of particular importance. Couples who do not both want children can still have children, but you will have to work extra hard to keep them happy. Depending on how you want your virtual family to run, choose wisely.

Once adopted, your person moves into their house. You start immediately showing your person where and how to do certain things. Depending on their profession, show them their work area, be it the computer room, the shop outside, or the kitchen. Place them on the various pieces of litter scattered about the house and show them how to keep the place tidy. If you have played any of the Virtual Villagers games, you'll already understand the mechanics at work here. As your person learns behaviors, you can use one of two paddles to either praise them for an appropriate behavior, or to punish them for an inappropriate behavior.

As the game plays on, you will receive marriage requests from various suitors. Each have their own attributes, professions, and likes and dislikes, and views on children. The important thing here is to find one that is the best match for you little person, although the temptation to go after the one with the big, fat bank account and well-paying career will be hard to resist.

Virtual FamiliesWhether you choose to remain single or to take that marriage proposal, the next thing to think about is growing your family. As a single parent, you may be given the opportunity down the road to adopt a child. As a married couple, you can try to make a baby at any point in the game. Keep in mind that there are factors involved in this process, such as how long it has been since the last pregnancy, the mood of either of the parents, etc. It's not 100% guaranteed to produce offspring, but it usually does. Once a child is born, the mother will have control for the first few months. After that point, the child will be another member of the family, which will require the same behavioral shaping as the parents once did.

There are a number of other things that can and need to be done around the house during the course of the game. You'll notice almost immediately that the floor is in disrepair in sections of the house. There are a number of other problems, as well, such as the leaky watering hose outside, or the garden shed without a door handle. Many of these problems will require the purchase of tools and other items to complete which of course will require funds, so your career of choice is very important. Money is also used to buy house upgrades, such as bathroom fixtures or a new flat-screen TV.

Just like Virtual Villagers, Virtual Families continues to run even when the game isn't open. It is an important aspect of gameplay, since your family will continue to evolve, even when you are not around. As long as they have food your family can survive a couple of days without interaction, but if you're not going to be able to play for a couple of weeks, you may want to go in and pause the game before quitting. You don't want to come back to a house full of skeletons, do you?

Children that you have will grow to about 18 years, and then go off to college. When it is time for the current generation to move on, you will be given the option to give the house and all of its assets to one of your kids. At that point, they will move in and the game cycle will start again. Going to the Family Screen will allow you to keep track of multiple generations of people that have lived in the house. How many generations can you create?

Analysis: At first glance, Virtual Families seems like little more than a stripped-down version of The Sims. The limited effect that you have on the environment of the home and the house itself is quite evident. You don't have the option of creating a different living space for your families; you can't even move the furniture to a different part of the room. With the exception of upgrades, there is little you can do the physical house. This allows you the time to focus on the interactions with your little people.

The level of interaction with the virtual people in the game is totally up to you. Unlike The Sims, you do not have to watch your person's every move. Your virtual people will do things like get up in the morning, go to work, and eat without extensive prodding from you, as long as they have the supplies and materials required to complete a task.

I've never been a huge fan of the character designs for the Virtual Village series, and the characters in Virtual Families are almost identical. Something about the way the head gets positioned on the body at times, depending on what the person is focusing on as opposed to where they are walking, or what they are working on, just seems unnatural.

Virtual Families is a natural progression of the Virtual Villagers series, and the results are quite good. While Last Day of Work has already announced a fourth Virtual Villagers game set for release later this year, I hope a sequel to Virtual Families isn't out of the question!

Walkthrough Guide

Virtual Families - General Information

Here is some general information for Virtual Families. More will be added as needed!

Gathering Collectibles

  • Collectibles can now be gathered by either children or adults.

  • When you pick up a duplicate collectible, your person will sell it online for extra money.

  • At the start of the game, only coins and leaves/twigs will show up. Later in the game, bugs start showing up. Finally, late in the game, the pieces of paper show up.

Ongoing Household Chores (done by both adults and children)

  • Pick up wrappers.

  • Pick up socks.

  • Clean away cobwebs.

  • Take out the garbage.

  • Pull weeds.

  • Clean dirt smudges.

Having Babies

  • Unlike in the Virtual Villagers games, it won't do any good to drop the adults onto each other over and over to produce a baby.

  • When the adults try to make a baby, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

  • After having a baby, the game will tell you if it's too soon to have another.

  • The youngest child has to be 2 to 4 years old before another baby will come.

  • Twins start coming in the second generation.

  • Purchase the Baby Boost medicine to increase the chances of having babies, but use only once as multiple uses will decrease its effectiveness.

  • A couple can have a maximum of six children.

Extra Activities

  • Drop an adult on the kitchen table to prepare a meal.

  • Sitting down to a meal adds to the "fed" bar on the details screen, especially for children.

  • Drop an adult in the laundry room to do laundry.

Varied Items in the Store

Note that varied items restock and refresh every four hours.

  • Delicious candy - $7

Salaries and Earning Money

Say, for example, your person has a salary of $60 per day. When you watch them work and hear the *ching* sound when they earn money, they are actually receiving 1/100 of their salary at that moment. The game doles out the salary over a period of time. You don't get it all at once when a work cycle completes. It accumulates constantly as the game is running as long as your people work on their careers steadily.

When first starting your family, you won't have a lot of money to splurge. But you will have plenty to buy groceries and start on the inexpensive upgrades (gradually). This is a long term game and it can take a couple of generations or more before you can purchase things like the treadmill and pinball machine.

Your people will get raises and promotions which will make it easier to buy more things. Some careers pay more than others, so those little people will naturally have more money to spend.

Please understand that it's not a problem when you see only 60 cents added to your bank balance. Be a little patient and enjoy the game. It's all part of virtual life. :)

Starting the New Generation

When a parent dies, you get a blue screen with instructions on how to start the new generation. The kids don't just come home from college on their own. If you missed the instructions, just go to the family page and click the "New Generation" button at the top of the page. You'll be able to scroll through all the children and choose the one who will continue the family.

Virtual Families - Repairs and Household Items

Many of the challenges in the game involve repairs and upgrades to the house. The following is a list of the repairs needed and how to do them. Some are recurring and others are one time only. We'll add to the list as needed.

Leaky Sink

Drop an adult on the bathroom sink and then drop him/her on the workshop. He/she will get a wrench and fix the sink.

Leaky Water Hose in Back Yard

  1. Purchase the waterproof tape in the store.

  2. Click it on the hose.

  3. Drop an adult on the kitchen sink to get a drink (this will reduce the water pressure).

  4. Drop the adult on the hose to repair it.

Bird Bath in Front Yard

  1. Purchase the fountain pump kit in the store.

  2. Click it on the bird bath.

  3. Drop two adults on the bird bath to install the pump (it's too heavy for just one adult alone).

Holes in the Floor

  1. Purchase floor repair kit in the store (good for only one repair each).

  2. Click it beside one of the holes in the floor.

  3. Drop an adult on the hole to begin repairs.

  4. Note: This is a long-term project and takes awhile to complete.

Workshop Wall

  1. Once you have repaired the hose in the back, purchase the wall compound from the store.

  2. Drop it near the bucket by the sandbox.

  3. Drop an adult on the wall compound.

  4. He/she will mix the compound with water and carry it to the workshop wall.

  5. Be sure to stay on top of the person because if they stop, the compound will dry up and you'll have to start over again.

  6. It also helps to put more than one person on the wall.

Blocked Toilet

Drop an adult on the toilet and he/she will fix it right away.

No Internet

Drop an adult on the computer to fix the router.

Repair Door to Shed

  1. Drop an adult on the gold doorknob in the sandbox. He/she will put it on the shed door.

  2. Drop adult on the welcome mat to retrieve the key. He/she will unlock the shed door.

Dryer Lint is on Fire

After getting the shed open, you'll find fire extinguishers inside. Use them on the dryer.

Oven is on Fire

After getting the shed open, you'll find fire extinguishers inside. Use them on the oven.

Water the Flowers

You have to have already repaired the hose and opened the shed for this one.

Drop an adult on the path outside the living room window so he "sees the window boxes." He will fetch a watering can from the shed, fill it at the back hose, and then water the flowers.

Cleaning Cobwebs

If you drop an adult on the right side of the bathroom sink 2 or 3 times, eventually he/she will jump around and clean cobwebs.

Clogged Shower

Drop an adult on the shower, then drop him/her in the laundry room on top of the bucket that contains the plunger.

Illnesses and the Cures

Your family will get sick from time to time and need to be given medicine. This is only for when they are sick, which will show up in the status box at the bottom of the screen, not for when they are weak or tired. You'll need to figure out what kind of illness they have by picking them up and seeing what is says in the activity box. You'll also hear a sound (coughing, sneezing, hiccupping, groaning) to help identify the illness. You may have to pick them up several times before you see the activity.

Here are the illnesses and the cures:

Hiccups

Get a drink of water either from the kitchen or bathroom sink.

Coughing

Purchase antitussive syrup in the store.

Sore throat

Purchase throat lozenges in the store.

Sneezing

Purchase antihistamine in the store.

Headache

Purchase anti-inflammatory pill in the store.

Stomachache

Purchase peptic syrup in the store.

Itchy

Purchase cortisone cream in the store.

For persistent illnesses or infection

Purchase penicillin in the store.

For serious illnesses or infections that won't go away

Purchase a doctor consultation in the store. You'll receive an email immediately telling you what the problem is. You may need to purchase Vancomycin in the store for very serious illnesses or infections. Use this only when recommended by the doctor.

Virtual Families FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Below is a list of some of the questions that get asked often. If you have a question about something, chances are someone else has had the same question. Please check this list before posting a comment. If you don't find an answer here, ask us in the comment thread and we'll do our best to help!

  1. What can I do to get my people's energy up?

    • There is an energy drink you can buy in the store, but it's random and is only one dose.

    • Also note that the problems with low energy have been corrected in an updated version of the game (1.00.05). If you have a previous version, go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download it again.

  2. How do I get rid of hiccups?

  3. Have your person get a drink of water in the kitchen or in the bathroom.

  4. How do I get my people to chase gophers?

  5. This is something they do on their own. To get the trophy for chasing gophers, praise someone while "playing on the lawn" when there are gopher holes present.

  6. Why isn't the item I need for a repair in the store?

  7. The varied items in the store appear randomly and refresh every four hours in the most current version of the game (1.00.05). If the item you need isn't there, keep checking. It will turn up eventually.

  8. If one of my children goes with the talent scout, will he/she come back?

  9. No, they won't come back until you start the next generation. They'll be available along with the other children to take over the house when the time comes.

  10. Will the children come back after going to college?

  11. No, they don't come back from college. Same as with the talent scout, they will only be available to take over the house after the parents die.

  12. At what age do women stop having babies?

  13. As in Virtual Villagers 2 and 3, females cannot have babies after age 50. Even in their 40s, it's difficult.

  14. How do I pause the game?

  15. Use the space bar.

  16. How high do the career levels go?

  17. Careers top out at level 8 (master).

  18. How do I help my people who are depressed?

  19. They will get better over time. Give them treats like candy and fruit. Make sure there's plenty of food and they are fed. Buy household upgrades. Have them work on their career. Don't use the red hand on them for awhile. Praise them a lot. All of these things will help bring up their mood.

  20. How do I play multiple families?

  21. Click the player name on the menu screen and you will be given the option to start other families.

  22. What happens to the money in the bank when the parents die?

  23. The money will transfer to whichever child takes over for the new generation.

  24. How can I make more money?

  25. The best way is to gather duplicate collectibles. They are automatically sold online when one of your people picks them up. For extra, try dropping two people on the same collectible: pause using the space bar, drop first person, tap space bar twice to unpause and repause, drop second person. If your timing is good, both of them will pick up the collectible and you'll get double the money. Be careful, though, because children will often play train or have a giggle party when you drop them on top of each other!

  26. How do I get my family to prepare a meal?

  27. Drop an adult on the kitchen table.

  28. Can children work once they reach age 14?

  29. They can do adult chores and activities, but they can't work to earn money. Only the parents work on careers for money.

  30. How do I get the next generation to take over?

  31. When the parents die, a blue screen full of instructions will appear. Basically, it tells you that when you are ready for the next generation to take over, go to the family screen and click on the "New Generation" button at the top of the screen. You'll be able to scroll through all of the children of the current parents. Pick the one you want to carry on the family and click "adopt." Now the family will continue with that child.

  32. What happens to the siblings of the child I chose to continue the family?

  33. Nothing happens to them. They remain on the family tree, but they don't reappear in the game and you cannot play them after they have not been chose.

  34. Why won't my store refresh?

  35. There is a bug that prevents the store from refreshing. Press the R key while you are on the store screen to refresh the store and reset the schedule to where it will refresh every 4 hours. This is a one time only fix for the bug. You will not be able to refresh your store on demand.

  36. How do I help my people who are very weak?

  37. Being weak usually comes from being sick. Even after being cured, your people will be weak. Fruit and vitamins from the store helps a great deal. Also, make sure they have plenty of food and are fed. After that, it just takes time for them to get strong again.

  38. How do I find the red ball and what is it for?

  39. The red ball is just something extra the developers threw in. It's not required to solve any of the puzzles, nor can your people interact with it. To find the red ball, move the map to where you can reach the absolute upper and left most corner. Using just the hand cursor, pinch into that upper left corner and pull the red ball out. Note: you can't actually see the ball until you pull it out. Here's a screenshot:

    Red Ball

  40. Is there anything I can do to make my family have twins or triplets?

  41. As best we can tell, twins and triplets are completely random. They can happen at any point in the game and are a bit rare, especially triplets. There's nothing that will make them happen or help it along. It's just luck of the draw. One thing to consider, though... Multiples will only happen early in a family because of the six child limit. If there have been no triplets by the time child number 3 is born, there won't be any triplets for that family at all because it would put it over the six child limit. The game doesn't let that happen.

I have to say I did not enjoy this game. Something about the middle class, white, nuclear, heterosexual, suburban vibe put me off from the start. I mean it feels like a US conservative fantasy.

The gameplay, though effective in Virtual Villagers just seems banal... though there are a host of achievements to unlock I wasn't really interested. What made Virtual Villagers so compelling was the sense of discovery and adventure. Here, you can have kids, grow old and repair the house.

This is a Sims clone with out any of the features that made the Sims compelling... customization, the freedom to treat your Sims as well or as badly as you want and the sense of creating your own story with your family.

I admire Last Day of Work's games a lot, but this one failed to impress.

I actually have been enjoying this one, although it is not as exciting as the Virtual Villagers series. My first family is moving into late middle age, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.

In order to open the shed,

after fixing the door knob, drop an adult on the welcome mat to find the key.

I have a clogged shower and nothing I've tried works. I only have about $70. Do I have to buy something?

New to jayisgames, here, though I have known of the site for a while.
On Virtual Families, I have to agree with Arcysparky, LDW has missed the mark this time around. Admittedly, I only tried the trial version, but "Families" did not interest me enough to purchase the full version. I will just have to be satisfied with LDW's "Villagers" series for the time being. (c'mon, VV4!)

To Gouda:

We haven't been about to figure out the clogged shower yet, but if you exit and restart the game, it will go away for awhile.

To mstepanik:

Thanks for that info. I'll add it to the walkthrough.

To Grinnyp:

I'm enjoying the game, too. One thing I really like is that with it having so few people, I get to know them better. When the villages get up to 90 people, it was so impersonal.

To gouda:

For a clogged shower (or toilet):

Look in the laundry room. On the north wall of the laundry room between the closet and the bench is a bucket that has a plunger and a duster in it. Try dropping one of your adults on it. If that doesn't work, there is a tool box in the workshop on the west wall. Drop your adult there to get a wrench (this works with leaking sinks).

Hope that helps.

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

What do I do for a dryer lint fire? I don't see a fire extinguisher in my house.

I'm having the same problem with an oven fire, alaira.

Aha!

There's fire extinguishers in the shed!

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

Alaira,

you need a fire extinguisher, which is in the shed. You should see instructions for getting the shed open in the walk-through above. Once the shed is open, just drop one of your adults (or, I think, a teenager over 14) in the shed and they will grab an extinguisher to put out a dryer fire or an oven fire.

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

Ok, thanks. I've been trying to avoid spoilers on how to unlock things, but I thought that I should know how to handle a fire. I also found out that you can simply reload the game to reset household disasters that occur, so I can avoid them in the meantime.

Ugh. If I could start with a family of 4, I think this could give me enough information to see if I want to purchase the game.

However, starting with an individual, and getting to watch him take nearly 15 minutes to create and eat a meal (I know, real time) is just too tedious.

This could be sort of fun, but the thing that keeps VV and the sequels interesting is the variety - you can have a group of villagers working on one thing, and then go on to another group. You're not stuck watching one person live out their slow, solitary life.

And these are just visual irritations, but why do these people look like South Park's Cartman at the Special Olympics when they're kissing each other?

And why is the baby attached like some growth to the hip of the mother? How difficult would it be to stick 'em in a backpack? I know that the baby was stuck to the mother's hip in VV, but since they're on a deserted island there, I can cut them some slack. These folks live in suburbia, go to WalMart and by a backpack for goodness sake!

Can anyone help? I have brought this game and I don't have a broken chair on the porch, but I do have a bucket that I can't figure out what to do with. When i drop a person onto it, they just say they're confused.

To Ducatisti:

It helps to have more than one family going at a time. Especially when they show very different traits. I have one couple who are both incredibly stubborn and they have three boys who are all troublemakers!

To Ange:

There was a broken chair in the beta version of the game that has been removed for the release. My apologies for the confusion. I'll update the walkthrough information.

For the bucket, look under the repairs section for the Workshop Wall.

shower clodged

put adult on shower, than put him imetiately in the loundry room (worked after the second time for me)

Has anyone managed 50 trophies yet? I'm at 49, and as soon as one of my little family hits 60 (she's 59 right now), I'll get my 50th trophy. And then my 51st, and you get a trophy for hitting 50 trophies.

I have to say, this is not as much fun as any of the virtual villagers. Yes, it's much more intimate, as you have fewer people to keep track of. However, it is rather slow moving, and I'm getting seriously ticked off with agents showing up at my front door to take my kids off to careers in Europe and Japan! :)

Crap, my people hit 60 and died! Has anyone managed to make 70?

Water the Flowers

You have to have already repaired the hose and opened the shed for this one.

Drop an adult on the path outside the living room window so he "sees the window boxes." He will fetch a watering can from the shed, fill it at the back hose, and then water the flowers.

Cleaning Cobwebs

If you drop an adult on the right side of the bathroom sink 2 or 3 times, eventually he/she will jump around and clean cobwebs.

On the workshop wall:

You can drop multiple adults on this project to complete it quickly. This will save you from having to repurchase the wall compound if it hardens up in the bucket.

I'm curious about the picture pieces...

Does there seem to be a correlation between having the shed open and finding picture pieces to collect?

I have been playing through three generations already, and I never found any picture pieces until I got the shed open. And once I learned how to do it, in the games where I opened the shed very early, I started finding picture pieces right away.

Just wondering aloud!

Pineapple:

About the picture pieces:

Yes, they will not show up until the shed is open.

I don't have the waterproof tape in my store to fix the Leaky Water Hose in Back Yard. Any ideas?

To Selena:

About the tape -

The varied items in the store refresh and restock about once a day or so. The waterproof tape will turn up eventually and you'll be able to buy it then.

I'm having a problem with my couple. They are almost 50 years old and won't have kids. This is the 5th generation and if they don't have kids, I have to start over and lose all my progress. Any ideas?

marief715:

Do they argue every time you try? Or do they try and just don't have kids? If they try and don't have kids, you can buy a medicine that makes them fertile.

If they don't want kids, I think the best that you can hope for is a kid showing up at the door wanting to be adopted. I've had that happen 3 or 4 times.

What can you do in the demo? Is there a walkthrough for just the demo version? I know you can't buy anything but groceries, so if your people get sick, it's a bummer.

Yes, they did argue about kids, tried a few times with no success, finally had 1. Just need to hope he's old enough to take over when they pass. Thanks for the response.

I have several questions

1. It is taking forever to make money to buy stuff. Are any strategies better than the other? (earning bank interest, only have generations work on career, etc?)

2. I keep getting an email that says the birds are tropical.... what does that mean?

3. Does upgrading the workspaces first help careers that much faster?

I purchased the game and seriously regret it. The game play is super slow, no one is coming close to maximizing their career. Because I am impatient, I have been changing the time on the computer several times but, then they keep saying their life is going too quickly.
How can I make more money so I can do the career upgrades?

[Edit: We strongly advise against changing your computer clock. Not only can it mess up the game, it can also effect other computer functions that rely on the computer clock. -Pam]

and one more:

How do you know what time it is?

I need help doing the wall compound what is the other things and other stuff ive got the compoudnd HELP!!!!!!!

minivanna-
I know my career boosted much faster with the upgrade but because not of my people have made it past fifty (because i dont have patience) I have not been able to do additional upgrades

I cant find a way to earn the trophy for throwing away a rotten fish and making a latte!
Help anyone?

What about their health? How can I improve it? It keeps saying certain peeps are "weak" but I don't know how to correct it!

I need help doing the wall compound. What are the other things and other stuff? I've got the compound. Help!
Posted by: tia

You first have to get the tape and tape up the hose then you can mix the compound to do the hole.

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

Nina:

One good strategy to make money more quickly is to concentrate on finding collectibles. Once you have one of an item in your collection, you can sell duplicates. They sell for $5.00 common, $15.00 uncommon, and $50.00 rare. Especially if you have kids to drop on the collectibles and sell them (thus the parents keep working and earning money as well) you can rack up money fairly quickly. Also, if you are lucky, there is a random event where someone will offer you a lot of money for your entire collections (including the pieces of old photo). This can net you thousands if your collections are full or nearly full. It means you have to start over again collecting, but it got me enough money to get an office upgrade.

Chiklitz:

In the store under the "varfied items section" (which changes every 10 - 12 hours)there will sometimes be "multivitamins" for sale. If they show up, buy them and feed them to your weak peeps.

To Marief715:

About the next generation -

The child will be old enough to take over the house. The ages of all the children change when it's time for the next generation and they will all be adults.

To Tia:

Check the walkthrough section at the top of comments. Look under the Repairs spoiler and find the workshop wall. It will give you instructions about the wall compound.

To Chiklitz:

To improve health -

In addition to the vitamins, it helps to purchase the organic groceries. Also, give them the fruit treats, which are healthy. It will take time to recover from being weak, but these things help.

To Grinnyp:

I just hit 50 trophies with one of my families yesterday. No luck getting anyone to live past 60 yet. I hope it comes with later generations.

To Minivanna:

The time in the game is the same as your time. It will be daylight and dark the same as where you live, unless you switch it on the options menu.

To Pam:

My first family has now passed 60 trophies and I continue to try and get someone past the age of 60. I'm hoping the vitamins and the organic groceries help.

Meanwhile, I've discovered that the double-collecting trick from virtual villagers 3 works in this one! I've started a third family just to see how quickly I can accumulate money constantly double-collecting collectibles.

I just have to share this with y'all. I have a family in which the mother has blue and black dredlocks. The father has black poofy hair. I thought sure those two would produce some awesome cute kids. But nooooo! They had six kids and every one of them are sandy brown haired. Four of them look identical (no twins, though) and they look like devil children or something. Five boys and one girl. All ugly.

How will the bird bath get repaired? And how will the energy levels increase?

To Pari:

For the bird bath, please check the walkthrough guide at the top of the page under Repairs and Household Items.

As for energy, the energy drink definitely helps. And I've noticed that sometimes when I start the game, they all have more energy, but I don't know exactly why. I think maybe it's connected to overall health.

I was very disappointed with this game. Very repetitive and the biggest puzzle was unlocking the shed. I'm looking forward to Virtual Villagers 4 and hope LDW redeem themselves. My opinion only.

I know it said that if you choose to be a single parent you get the option to adopt. Well, my woman is close to 50 and no option to adopt has come up and in her profession she is almost rank 7. Any ideas?

To Tasha:

Adopting kids is really just a random event in the game. It may be more likely to happen if your people are childless, but there's no guarantee.

To Tasha (again):

I just had a family of five adopt a child that showed up on a doorstop. The new child brought their family up to the maximum of six children. So, it doesn't have to be single parents or childless couples who get to adopt kids.

To Grinnyp:

I tried the double dropping on the collections, too. Half the time they end up playing train or having a giggle party instead of picking up the coin. Lol. So, just be aware of that.

Thanks, Pam, for the help. I got the birdbath. Just having problems with the energy levels. In the beginning when I started to play, all levels were almost full, but now energy levels are rarely even half. Wish something can be figured out besides the energy drink, which is not always available.

To Pari:

I just had a family get a boost of energy. They were all up to halfway when I opened the game. Maybe they just needed to get some rest. The low energy doesn't seem to harm them, though. They just won't do much without going to bed or taking a nap. But when I get them up to do something, they do it. Then go back to bed. :)

How do I cure hiccups? Nomatter how I tried...it doesn't work. I gave all the medicine a try and even gave sweets....it doesnt work...any suggestion would be appreciated ;)

I think I made my hiccuppy friend have a drink of water.. that should help! ;)

To Diana:

To cure hiccups -

Have them get a drink of water. If they won't do it at the kitchen sink, drop them on the bathroom sink.

Anyone know if there's a relation between making the kids study and their career/income as adults?

To Chiklitz:

The careers/income of the kids as adults seems to be random. I haven't really seen that studying as a child makes a difference.

what is the goal with the tropical birds? do you get rid of them or did you guys suck us in with this one?

Anyone else having problems with cleaning the walls? I have bought the compound twice, My lttle people just wont see it. I have tried closing and restarting game.

To Fiona:

I'm not sure what you mean by getting sucked in. As far as I can tell, the birds are just there to be pretty and there's no need to get rid of them.

To Sue:

About cleaning the walls -

Make sure you're following all of the steps. You need to have the hose in the back repaired first. Drop the wall compound next to the green bucket in front. Then drop an adult on the green bucket and he/she will mix up the compound. They don't see the compound, but they do see the empty green bucket. Once they start cleaning the walls, make him/her stay on it until it's done because the compound will harden if they walk away for too long and you'll have to start over. Having more than one person work on it also helps.

Has anyone collected all of the bugs, photos, nuts and twigs, and coins? And if so, does anyone have a screen shot of what they all look like?

1 of my children are depressed and I don't know how to get her back to happy. I have bought her a D.V.D and she still is not happy! What do I do??

Having a pet is just stupid! You would think there would be some interaction with it. You can't feed it, play with it or anything. A cat came up for me to buy, but there's no way I'm going to spend $500 on that again!

I do have all of my coins, and would like to do a print screen to show skyprincess what they look like. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that in here.

I'm in agreement that this is nothing like the Virtual Villagers series. I had one family, and I named the mom after myself, and the kids after my kids. I wish I wouldn't have done that. I woke up one morning, turned on the computer, and the mom was dead! That was weird. I've learned in my second generation to name these people with names NOT in my own family!!! LOL!!! It sure would make things more fun if we could make the game run in faster time, like in VV.

To Skyprincess:

I only have a completed collection of the coins. :(

To Corgi:

It will take time to get their happiness level up. Be sure they are well fed and in good health. Praise them often. If you have more than one child, drop them on each other and they will play train or have a giggle party. All of these things should help.

Both my people are exhausted. I put them to bed, and within 5-10 minutes they're up and wandering around, despite still being exhausted!!

How do you get them to sleep for longer? Is sleeping the only way to get them to re-energise?!?

Just started so trying to figure everything out before resorting to spoilers!!
Am enjoying it so far :)

Thanks again
x

To skyprincess:

I have completed the coins and the nuts/twigs collections. I posted a screen shot here:

To fix the clogged tub,

go to the laundry room and place your friend by the basket with the dusters and they will get a plunger and fix the tub

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

To Laura:

About energy levels -

Their energy levels will gradually get better as you move further into the game. Sometimes when I open my game for the day, they are all rested and fine for no apparent reason. Maybe it's the down time while the game isn't running. Naps and going to bed don't help at all. It's not harmful for them to get low on energy. They just won't do much of anything before they go take a nap or go to bed. The energy drink helps, but of course, that's just one dose whenever it happens to show up in the store.

To skyprincess:

On one of my other families, where I had not finished any of the collections, I suddenly finished the antique photo. Here's a screenshot:

http://jayisgames.com/images/grinnyp_s640x480-2.jpg

So, I'm not the only one finding the bugs. Today I finally found all the coins. That's what is popping up a lot. I have 8/12 nuts and twigs, 5/12 bugs and 9/12 of the picture. I wish the store would fill faster. I have 3 families now and I can't seem to clean the cobwebs out of the bathroom. I have done it with the first families, but I can't seem to get them cleaned on the 3rd.

How can I throw away the trash from the garbage can beside the fridge?

To JIGuest:

Just drop one of your people on top of the trash can.

Hi everyone. Just wondered how you get the coupons? :)

[Edit: What coupons do you mean? -Pam]

Theres a trophy for clipping coupons . :)

my money is gone for having the doctor's consultation. and I have no money left for buying the medicine. How can I earn a lot of money? Is there any possible cheat for this??

ooops soorrry found if you bought food on sale it goes towards the coupon clipper trophy. Silly me lol was looking for them everywhere.

To Pen:

No cheat for money, but some suggestions -

Keep both of your adults working at their career. Don't buy any upgrades. Have your people pick up doubles on the collectibles (pause, drop one person, pause again, drop second person, paus one more time). It will get you double the price for a collectible.

You may also -

Get random events that will bring you money, like grocery gift cards, prize money, lottery ticket, etc. It will help with your month gatheruing.

But where I can get GC's and the like?

my apologies for asking too much because It's really my first time playing this and I come up easily with a lot of information here.

by the way, thanks VM
:)

The weirdest thing ever just happened! You know how they die, you find them lying on the bed in state with a status of extremely weak, then their "ghost" will stand there on the bed waving at you, then you get the notice that they died, then their body fades away, then the "ghost". Well, I knew that it would be coming soon in my third family, so I had an energy drink standing by. I opened up the program this morning and sure enough Du was lying on the bed, his ghost waving at me. I slammed him with the energy drink before the notice of his death could pop up, and he got up from the bed! But so did his ghost! I fed him some multi-vitamins and he went from extremely weak to just weak. And he started wandering around doing things and so did his ghost! I could click on the ghost (still extremely weak) but couldn't manipulate him. A few minutes later the ghost died, but the original Du was still alive, and now depressed in mourning for himself! How weird is this? I wonder how long I can keep him alive without a soul . . .

Pam: thanks, don't know what is going on with the walls. Without spoilers, I did complete all requirements..The peeps just would look and then start a different activity. Finally a kid turned 18, he was able to start the cleaning.

Grinnyp,

That's very bizarre. Be sure to let us know what happens.

To Pen:

Sorry... GC's? I'm not following you.

Nobody wants to work in my workroom.
Can somebody tell me what to do?

To Wendy:

Double check and make sure that their career really is for the workroom. If it is, try dropping him/her a little to the right near the door. There's a bench area where they actually do their work. Sometimes it can take several tries to get it just right.

Pam:

Poor Du finally kicked it at age 61, I couldn't keep him alive any longer. ::sigh::

In the meantime, I've split my first two families on two different tracks. In the first one, I'm aiming to finish all the home improvements (all I've got left is the wide screen TV and the pinball machine). In the second, I'm concentrating on workplace upgrades. I've got the 2nd level office and 2nd level kitchen. I'm primarily aiming for the 3rd level kitchen, because I have a sneaking suspicion (just a hunch) that that is the only way to find someone making a latte. :-)

Thanks.

To Ziggy:

Ah, ok. Yeah, you just need to buy the groceries on sale, as you've already realized. :)

Help! I've fixed the garden hose, opened the shed but cannot get my adult to water the plants...they see the window boxes, but they will not water the plants...am I missing something

Also, will the kids ever have jobs or do they just leave when they are 18?

To Jennifer:

About watering the plants -

You need to drop an adult on the watering cans in the shed. When you hover him/her over the door to the shed, it will say "sees watering cans" and that's the spot you need to drop.

About children working -

The children will leave home when they are 18. Then when it's time for the next generation, you will get to choose from the children and they will each have a job then.

I am among those disappointed with this game. It's not up to par with the VV games. I certainly miss being able to change the speed of the game, which I suppose would be impossible if it's "in your time zone" but if that's the case why do they age years in a day or two?

At any rate, I usually check in on them before I go to bed, and then when I get home to work, and they're usually sick and/or exhausted.

It's not much fun to watch then sleep. Also, I agree about the pet comment. I got a dog and I didn't notice an increase in happiness, and truly, no interaction. What's the point?

The only thing they seem to actually enjoy is putting away the groceries.

*Question - how do you know how much food you have left?*

Thanks for everyone's help in posting here...

Pam:
GC's are Gift Certificates. Hmn?

wikedwhich:

What's really funny about the dog is that it lives forever. I've had the same dog in my first family for like 60 years now.

As for food, click on the refrigerator and it will tell you how much food you have left.

To Wikedwhich:

To see how much food you have, click on the refrigerator. The number will appear at the bottom.

To Pen:

The only thing like gift certificates I've seen in the game are random household events, like when you get a rebate on groceries or something. Is that what you're talking about?

When it's time to move on to the next generation, does the money also transfer over or do we start fresh? See I'm almost at 5,000 for a career room upgrade...

To Mundham:

The money transfers. It'll show up as money in the bank when you choose one of the kids to take over.

hi. I just started playing this game, and already don't know what to do. My little guy's energy level is really low and his status says exhausted. what can i do to help him?? He won't sleep very long if i tuck him in bed.

How long do you have to carry a baby around? I can't get my mom person to work on her career in the kitchen and I'm guessing that's because I'm carrying a baby.

To Jasyrah:

About energy levels -

Energy levels have been a problem for me since the start of the game, too. Sometimes you can buy an energy drink in the store that helps, but it's very random. There are times when I open the game and they all suddenly have more energy. I guess they recharge when the game isn't open. Low energy doesn't really do anything bad. They just won't do much without going to bed or taking a nap. I'm hoping that it will get better as the game progresses.

To Chapin:

The mother seems to carry the baby around 4 hours. She will not work on her career while she's got the baby, but she will almost anything else (pull weeds, pick up collectibles, chores).

Thank You Pam!!

I wanted to know how long the women holds the baby for. Like in virtual villagers it took 2 hours and then the baby was put down. So how long does it take before she can go to work?? And hour 2 or 3?? Can someone help me??

I am seeking advice on how to get twins & triplets. I have went through over 16 generations and have over $3.7 mil in the bank with no luck.

Also I have 3 bugs that I havent even found one of - all the ones in the 2nd row. Any suggestions other than to continue making it rain?

Only other tropy I need is for the serious infection? Any ideas on that?

Thanks!

Diane -

Twins and triplets are a random event, so there's not much you can do except keep trying. As for the bugs, I have found that some of them come out more at night when it's raining, so you could try that.

Serious infection is a random event. Keep an eye on anyone who gets multiple minor infections and whose health is steadily declining. Buy the doctor's visit to check on those folks, the constant minor infections can be a sign of a more serious underlying condition.

Dianne:

About finding bugs:

Sometimes your neighbor will send you an email that there is a rare collectible in your yard and you should hurry to get it. If you open that email right away, pause your game and go looking.

I assume you mean the dragonfly, the brilliant blue butterfly and the moth are the ones you are missing? If the moth alights on the gravel, it can be very hard to see.

To increase your chances of getting multiple births:

Use the baby boost -- but only once! -- on one of your little people. I've found that it works best with a couple, both of whom want children, although I don't know if that's relevant.

To crystluncrn24: Did you ever get your remote from the red flower? My remote is in the same place and I can't get it! Frustrating! Anyway, I tried to get the maid to come by not cleaning for a week and it didn't work. Does anyone know how to get the maid to come?

Jinger -

Maid service is a random event, it happens when it happens. Have you tried dropping a very small child on the remote? They can sometimes get it when it is in an inconvenient place.

Does anyone know what the 9 good behaviors are in order to get the trophy? I have 7 and wanna know what the other 2 are. Thanks

Hi,

I am having real problems with this app! I originally tried the lite version 1st and enjoyed it so downloaded the full version (both to my ipod touch) Since downloading the full version, everytime I exit the application I lose all my progress, I tried waiting til they had children as previously recommended on this site but to no avail!
Any help is welcome as it now becoming frustrating starting again everyday!!

Carrie8520 - That sounds like a bug in the game. I'd suggest you contact the game developer or publisher with this issue.

Miss Y:

The nine good behaviors are the ones listed in the trophy list immediately before the trophy for praising:

Fire Stopper (putting out an oven fire)
1000 Strokes (brushing hair)
Lotta Latte (making a grand latte)
Funky Smell (throwing out rotten fish)
Go-fer it (chasing gophers)
Everything in its place (cleaning the nightstand)
Sleeping Dragon (practicing Kung Fu)
Care and Feeding (making a meal)
Boob Tube (turning off the TV)

when you start out in the store area is there only the groceries, med, and upgrade, then does the varied items and home improvement come in later on..? cause these 2 spot are empty on mine, FYI playing this on the iphone.

i heard that we can change the colours of the rooms. how ?????

I agree with the page in that twins and triplets are natural. I had twins in my first generation after one baby, I have five kids in my second generation using no baby boosts, so I think that if you have perscitance (and young parents, mine are 31) you can have multiple kids with no help

Please tell me how to change the colour of the rooms or the furniture??

It's not possible to change the colors inside the house in the game.

Is there a way to get medicines from the store in the trial version?
Thanks.

C - medicine

In the 2 lower rows of the shops you will find every kind of medicine, your people need. Starting with throat pills, antitussiv sirup , peptic sirup and so on.
When you cant see it, you might have a technical issue and should try downloading the game again. You should see the complete shop already during demo

Greetings, Kayleigh

I was wondering if one of your parents die if the other parent will remarry? is there any divorces between marriages? what is the age that the children will go to college?

i also kept the children on studying/homework, putting them into the office kitchen, and workshop, and had them do all the take out trash and pick u trash and laundry....one of them loves doing the cooking, cleaning and chores of the house, the other loves to read, study and take tests.

best tip start them early on copying what mom/dad do b4 children were born and then you have good obeying kids instead of lazy.

Thanks Kayleigh!
I can see everything, but when I click on the medicine it says "not everything in the store is available in the trial version" I was wondering if there is some way to get it in the trial version or some way to help my people get better without the medicine?

C -

Are you playing the computer version or the i-phone version? If it says you can't access it in the trial version, there may be nothing you can do except buy the full version.

When picking someone from the new generation, what happens if you do not choose one of them? Does that family end and you start a new one? Has anyone done this?

the lotta latte trohpy. i got it with one of my families, but i cant seem to get it with any of the others. i have all upgraded kitchens in the others, i dont know if that has anything to do with it. and i was wondering about the bug collections, and all that, i have my coin collection completed on one of my families, but none of the others, i have all the same 4 or 5 bugs too for all the families. but i cant seem to complete any other collections.

I have a 4 year old who is "a little blue." He has no likes or dislikes, and i've tried everything i can think of to get him happy. Any suggestions? ty in advance

I always buy groceries, or give them a candy if they are blue. They will usually go and celebrate the groceries, and then be happy, or just be happy with the candy.

Oh my! How long do these people have to sleep before their energy fills up? One of my people is always going to bed.

I am having problems getting them to repair the workshop wall. I've placed the compound next to the sandbox, place and adult on the compound and they always choose to do another activity rather than mix the compound to repair the wall... Any suggestions?

Melody - workshop wall

Please have a look at the FAQ section above the comments. You will probably find the solution for your problem there.

If not, so please come back and we will be glad to help.

Grettings, Kayleigh

How do I cure people in the demo

Hi all. I saw some people changed the colours of the furniture in some rooms, can someone tell me how to do this? They said they get some files and replaced them with the game's original files, where can I get those files and what exactly should I do?
Thanks.

I am going to be a little sad. After 21 gen. I am going to lose a family. One of my families just will not have a family on there own. I have tired everything. I have 4 others, so I can still play the game. But 21 gen. is a lot.

How do you move to the next generation?

Also how do you adopt more people?

Also how do you unlockk the gradge

Bella,

By "gradge" I assume you mean the shed behind the house and beside the workshop, right? Well if you take a look at the "Repairs and Household Items" section you will find your answer. You have to click the little "Hide Spoilers" line, then read a little bit, then click the next "Hide Spoilers" line and find the bit about the "Locked Shed Door."

I hope that is easy enough to understand. The only reason I write it all the way out is because you seem to have trouble with words like, please and garage so I really tried to make it as clear as possible.

Good Luck!

Is there a certain age at which you will stop receiving marriage proposals? My person is 28 and has not had a marriage proposal in a while. I am getting worried...

So I keep trying to fix the shed door but my person refuses to pick up the knob! No matter where i place him he just walks away. Help!

Sasha - People seem to continue to get marriage proposals well into their old age, don't worry!

C-lo - It is a bit tricky to place them in the correct place, but its just trial and error. Make sure you are using an adult.

The mother of my family died (36 old ) and the father is now 38 with 4 children. Can he receive a marriage proposal and get married again or is this impossible??
Because I have read on some forum that players had their parents re-married after the partner died, they even made more children with the new wife or husband. So I was wondering could this really happen or should I just give up on this generation and start a new generation soon?

I just had to start over on one of my families. I was sad, and a little mad. I work so hard to make it to 21 generations. Now all of that is gone. That sucks. When that happens you should be able to take from past people and use them.

Diana - second marriage

As far as I know, it is possible. It may take a while, but eventually you will get a new proposal. Good luck.

Greetings, Kayleigh

My people will not have babies. I have had over 15 families die off because they will not have babies. I have tried baby boost, which did nothing. Out off all of my families one had a baby on its own and another tried with no luck. Many have adopted kids, but without having them on their own the longest generation I have had is three.

I heard that there can be adoption before marriage, and i so much want to try this, so I adopted this girl when she's 26 and I refused 3 marriage proposals till now, and I am hoping that she will adopt a little kid before she gets married. But now she is 31 and no adoption offers appeared and am afraid she will lose the chance of getting married and having babies of her own, so should i just let her get married now or wait longer? I mean what are the chances of that adoption before marriage thing?? Please help!

littlegirl - Both marriage proposals and adoptions are random events. Marriage proposals will continue to come in anytime your peep is single, even when they are older, so I suppose it doesn't hurt to wait. However there's no guarantee you will get an adoption offer at all!

How long does the mother carry the baby?

Jessica - Mothers carry the babies for a few hours of game time.

Ok so am now on the 10th generation of family. I have got ALL the trophies apart from the collecting ones! I have still got 1 rare photo piece + 6 bugs to get. I am constantly checking it (at all times of day) + constantly making rain storms but havnt found a new item for about 3 generations. I do want to complete the game, but for the last 4 generations at least it has been boooooring!!!
Anyone have any tips or hints on how to get the final pieces to be found???

I have noticed a lot of posts about the bugs over the course of the 19 pages. Has anyone collected all of them to where they can post a picture showing the rest of us what they all look like?

I recently had to start over due to a no heir contingency and never completed the bugs to begin with because I was unsure what they all looked like.

Also, as most posts have indicated, when it rains the bugs come out. Well, even though I have the latest version, when the rains come, the only things that come out are the coins! I can collect coins left and right, but have not been able to collect more than a couple of bugs (red butterfly, some sort of worm, and the ladybug) through all of my trials (old one was 20 something worth of generations and $300 million in the bank). Any help would be appreciated as to what they look like.

Thanks!

I've collected all the bugs and can take a screen shot, but I don't know how to post it. If someone can tell me that, I'll do it.

Some of the little buggers are very hard to see, so you may just be missing them. I know there have been several posts to the comments that say some only come out at night, but I have found them all during the day.

Okay -- here's the link to the photo (I hope):

On virtual families for the iPod you need to find the tv remote. Where is the tv remote?

don't use the red glove to much or the little people can sometimes get real sad. also don't over do it with the green glove or they will run away. try to get the shed open first and fix the problems next get stuff like the pinball thing and swimming thing last get upgrades.

There is a small gray dot under a parent or a kid, when trying to pick-up say two coins use the little gray dot like this: When the gray dot under a person it tells where the person is going to land ( the dot is only there when you pick the person up ) use the dot to make sure that to kids don't have a giggle party or play train. I hope this helps alot!

Jessica -

The remote can be anywhere in the house. Look very closely.

I want to upgrade the workshop and the kitchen. The office is already upgraded to the highest level. I have plenty of money, but it keeps telling me that the upgrade isn't available yet. What should I do?

mtnmaw - Upgrades
Make sure, that you try to choose the right upgrade. You cannot buy the higher upgrade, before you do not have the lower on.

Greetings, Kayleigh

I need help mixing the compound. I have already fixed the hose. I bought the compound, when I put one of my adults on it they just walk off doing something else. I have read the FAQ section and there is nothing there to help me. I have two seperate families that I am playing and I can't get either one to mix the compound.

Megan - Getting an adult to mix the compound is just trial and error, there is some very specific spot they need to be dropped on. I had to try many, many, times before I could get an adult to do it.

Megan -

Once the hose is fixed and you have purchased and placed the compound, what you need to do is drop an adult on the green bucket, not the compound itself. Drop an adult (or someone over the age of 14) on the bucket and they will mix the compound.

I have gotten the words "Unknown Thread ID!" when one of the people are in the office. Does it mean anything?

Thanks for your help. I actually figured it out before I came back to check for answers. I was putting them dircectly on the compound not the green bucket.
I am loving this game. I am about to start my second generation my parents are almost 60 and all the children have gone to college... I can't wait to start the next generation!

I meant "Unknown String ID!!"

Mavis -

This sounds like a technical error. You might want to contact the vendor where you purchased the game, specifically their tech support department.

hi,

i've upgraded my kitchen to level 3 kitchen, does this decrease the chances of getting a smoking oven?? coz i still havent got the trophy of putting out a smoking oven. and i just managed to open the shed.
and how to make latte? can anyone please tell me. also, how to throw out rotten fish??

my remote is stuck on the top of the wall between the bedroom and the steps... no matter who I drop there they eitehr go into the bedroom or up the steps - any ideas how to recover? Thanks!

How do i get the trophie for praising someone chasing gophers ? PLEASE HELP !

Jen -

The smoking oven, the making a latte, and throwing out the fish are all random adult behaviors, you just have to watch for them. Usually you will only see the latte one in the morning, between 6 and 9:30 am.

Jacki -

Having the remote stuck there is tough. Sometimes if you drop a very young child (2 years old) on it, you can get them to pick it up. Otherwise, you can wait until you get the random maid service e-mail. If you pay for the maid service they clean up the house and return the remote as well.

Vanessa -

The gopher thing is a random behavior amongst the children, you just have to watch for it. Listen carefully while in the game, if you hear the kids making that sort of laugh/screaming sound (like they do when they're playing in the dirt) then check the yard quick, they may be chasing the gopher.

Thanks . But do you know if they come out with sunlight or something (like the bugs with the rain)?

My adults keep arguing over not having a baby, but the baby is like 4 years old. What is wrong?

-Bethany

P.S.

Tips for saving money
When you see garbage or any type of debris on the ground:

you waste money when you throw it away

And yes, what I said in the spoiler is true! It cost me $10.66 just to

throw garbage away!!!

Here's a tip for fixing things like a clogged toilet and leaking showers if you don't have the right supplies:

When you see something like that, press the space bar. Wait two to three minutes and then unpause. When you're waiting the two to three minutes you can go on the Internet and stuff. After that, you can go on without the need to fix it.

I just wanted to say that this game is most definitely my favorite game. It took forever to get started, but now that I'm into it, I'm getting really sad that my kids will be gone soon. My oldest kid (a son, imagine that.. :) just left for college, and my next kid, a girl, she's 17, so she'll be leaving soon. Thankfully, though, my parents just had another kid, although they're both 43. I was able to adopt a kid even when my mom had a baby, so I don't know if that's known or not. :) Thanks for the hints.. very helpful!

I was also able to get paid for 1 item twice... double-dropping... thanks!!!!

What do you mean (in the walkthrough guide) by pressing the "R" button, Pam?? I'm sincerely confused! My item store won't refresh and I tried the "R" button on the keyboard but nothing is happening!!

-Bethany

Can someone give me any tips on earning money and advancing careers of my people? I need to do the upgrades and cannot see how to earn that kind of money :)

Henne - I know it seems like it will take forever to get enough money for upgrades, but it accumulates quite quickly, as long as you aren't just sitting there waiting. :) You can try buying the job training items from the store, and make sure your peeps are working hard to level up their careers. And invest in the career room upgrades as soon as you can afford to!

Thanks Eileen, that was helpful. Im guessing I need to drop them to career regularly. Sometimes they refuse to work >.

-Everyone
My game is not letting my family fix the leaking sink and, yes, I do have the tool box! I'm in serious trouble!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
-Bethany

-Henne
When they do work, it is important to praise them when you can, so that when you are gone, they will still work a lot!!!

Why isn't anyone responding to my problems?? I'm in serious trouble guys!! Please help me!!! <3

-Bethany

Bethany - Drop your adult first on the leaky sink, and then in the workshop. You may have to do this several times before you find the right spot.

-eileen
Thank you so much!!!

-Bethany

-Everyone Help Please
My store is not refreshing and in the walkthrough it says to press the "R" button. What "R" button does it mean? Because I tried the one on the keyboard but it didn't work! Please help!
-Bethany

What is the talent scout?

Bethany i have found you have to buy something from the store first , then normally about an hour later if you press r on your keyboard it refreshes the stuff in store. hope this helps

I went to the store and I pressed the R button on the keyboard and it refreshed the store right before my eyes, I was amazed. But I tried pressing it again and it did nothing. So I guess it only works when you are getting close to the refreshing anyway. Just wanted to let you guys know.

Vanessa
If you drop a young child into the yard over and over eventually they will "dig a hole to china" If you wait till a hole appears and praise them it should give you the Gophers trophie. I have done this with 4 different families.

My people keep "Stomping Ants". Is this a problem? Do I have a bug problem? Or is it just something for the people to do, some random event? When I see them doing it I think I should buy some bug spray.

Megan - stomping ants
Don't you worry :). This is a normal behavior. There is no bug spray to buy, sometimes you will see them bringing an insect out as well.
Seems some insects they do like and other not that much ;)))

Greetings, Kayleigh

When you are trying to stop the water pressure so you can fix the hose you don't have to have someone get a drink. In one of my families the daughter brushed her teeth and it worked and in another I had one of them take a shower and it lowered the water pressure. You don't have to wait for them to get an actual drink as long as the water in the house is running.

The refresh the store by pressing R. Works for me frequently. I changed the clock on my computer a couple times to see if I could do it again and I could. I did it 4 times and I only changed the clock up an hour.

You don't have to close the game to change the clock you just have to take it off of full screen.

The funniest thing just happened. I hadn't gotten the "Kung Fu" trophy yet so I gave my guy the energy drink... Sure enough he did Kung Fu and I go the trophy. Well I didn't think about the fact that he was still hyper but I wanted to make him and his wife have their first baby. So they started to walk to the bedroom. He RAN. He was dancing, on the bed and gone before she even got on the bed! It was soo funny. He was out of the room before she got on the bed. But they did have a baby! So that's good. I wasn't expecting it and I just thought it was sooo funny, I'm sure it wont be as funny next time.

-Tracy
Thank you so much!!! You helped a lot!!!

-Bethany

Thanks Bethany for your help. Im curious to know how time works. My people tend to get tired and go to bed before 9pm. I would be more available to play the game in the evenings so this is quite early. Any suggestions?
