Phantasy Quest

Cute game, though I managed to get 128 out of 125 score (which broke the ranking). I think it had to do with a bug I found...

After you find the skull in the cave system and give it to the Chief, you can pick up the skull again, though you can't use it anymore, it becomes an unclickable part of your inventory

An unsolveable version? Or was it just some other strange error I was experiencing...

There's only the one version of Phantasy Quest that I know about. Did you perhaps click on one of the links to the Phantasy series of animations instead? Those are movies only with no interactivity.

No, very strange what was going on. I had a very different version of "Phantasy Quest", the ship looked very different, and the messageboxes were almost all broken. And it was unsolveable. Strange, strange, strange,...

This one was really easy but still a lot of fun; just one thing: after enjoying the pleasing naive pictures, was it really necessary to make me

hideously stab that poor pirate to death?

I cant get past the river...

To cross the river you need to

look into the crack in the ship's hull using the lantern.

Still haven't finished but very fun and enjoyable so far...except for

dying by swimming out to far and being squished to death

For feedback, Although the graphics were primitive, I really liked the way that when doing things that wont work, there are more messages than the general "this wont work" for any combo not in the story. Like e.g. you use the lantern on the streetlantern -> "The streetlantern does not need more light". Cheers on things like this!

Haha, I did both of those things as well, FlyingSheep! But they reminded me of the good ol' King's Quest days, so I didn't mind.

And now I finished the game as a "Perfect Hero". I thought the best thing about the game was when

you show the fish to the cat, and the cat "gobbles it up and leaps into your inventory." ROFL!

What do I do after

I give the Medicine Man the roasted berry and get the second piece of the map

I am stuck, I have the Skull, the bottle, the stick, teh lantern, and teh cocunut, and now all I do is walk around and click on everything. I can't get into teh gates.

Any help?

You can get an infinite amount of points by

clicking on the happy face mask repeatedly.

I'm at 33 out of 125, so I'm not very far along. I have the coconut, the lantern, the skull, and the bottle. I've made the fire, been to the caves, and the other small island, but can't figure out how to open the gates or what to do next. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Go out to sea, then when you get the island, north two time, go up the stairs and up the mast to the crows nest. Then look at the telescope and click yes. It'll show you how to open the gate.

You open the gates by

clicking on an invisible lever right next to them (on the right side). That's how the guy you saw through the telescope opened them, too.

Yay, I finally did it. And with only one step of help from here.

Complete Walkthrough for Phantasy Quest

1. 

   Pick up the coconut.
2. 

   Swim 2 times to the west, 2 times to the north.
3. 

   Pick up the bottle.
4. 

   Go north, walk up the mountain, go up the crows nest
5. 

   and look through the telescope
   Remember how that guy opens the gate
6. 

   Go back, and swim back (just swim to the east 2-3 times)
7. 

   Go to the waterfall (3x west, north) and fill your bottle with water
8. 

   go the the dead tree (2x west) and try to pick up the stick.
9. 

   give the bottle to the tree and pick up the stick
10. 

    go to your ship (west) and pull down the cloth with the stick
11. 

    In the ship pick up the lantern
12. 

    Use the lantern with the gash to get the plank
13. 

    At the river (far east) use the plank to get over it
14. 

    In the case walk: left and left and pick up the skull from the skeleton
15. 

    go back right, then 3 times up, then left to leave the cave
16. 

    go to the gate, and open it as you have seen through the telescope (touch the panel right to the gate, and touch the mask)
    ATTENTION: don't do it too fast, otherwise a gamebug strikes you, the gate wont ever open and you'll have to restart again!
17. 

    give the chief the skull
18. 

    go back out of the village, and left down the hill
19. 

    use the stick to remove the boulder
20. 

    the tree where you got the stick from now grows an apple, get it!
21. 

    go to the fireplace (south, east) and light it with lantern
22. 

    roast the apple with it
23. 

    go back to the village (you can take the shortcut over the slope now)
24. 

    give the apple to the doctor
25. 

    go to the right and watch the pirates go away
26. 

    pick up the crab
27. 

    sail away
28. 

    go up the pier (use arrow) and pick up the rope
29. 

    go into the ship and put the crab on the pirate
30. 

    get pirate clothes
31. 

    wear pirate clothes (drag onto yourself)
32. 

    go into the pawnshop and trade the lantern for a fishing pole
33. 

    go to the cliff (east, north) and knot the rope on the branch
34. 

    go down and grab the coin
35. 

    go back to the pier where you picked up the rope and use the fishing pole to catch some fish
36. 

    go into the pirate bar, and trade the coin for a bottle full of rum
37. 

    go to the cat (south east) and catch the cat with the fish
38. 

    go the pawn shop and and trade the cat for a skeleton key
39. 

    go to the pirate tower (3x north) and give the pirate the bottle o'rum
40. 

    take the sword from the pirate
41. 

    go up, and open the door the with key
42. 

    hit the 3 times evil pirate with the coconut and stab him with the sword.

Walkthrough
Part 1

1.

Click on the coconut.

2.

Go left twice and up twice, and grab the bottle on the beach. Go further into the island and use the telescope.

3.

From the beach where you found the bottle, go down twice and continue right until you reach the river and fill up your bottle.

4.

Go up then left twice and use the bottle on the tree, then grab the stick.

5.

Go left and use the stick on the sheet.

6.

Climb into the cabin and take the lantern, then exit and use the lantern on the hole in the boat to get the board.

7.

Go down and right twice, then use the lantern on the pile of sticks.

8.

Go right and use the board on the rock that you are standing on.

9.

Go into the cave and go left twice, and click on the skeleton's head to take it.

10.

Go right, up, right, up, and left to exit the cave.

11.

Go left and up until you reach a wall. Click just a bit right of the wall to reveal a switch, click the switch then click the mask on the left to open the wall.

12.

Go through the wall and left, and into the hut. Talk to the chief and use the skull on him when allowed.

13.

Go right and into the hut, and talk to the doctor.

14.

Leave the hut, go down and continue left until you find a large boulder. Use the stick on the smaller rock that is next to it.

15.

Go left and down to grab the berry from the tree. Then go back to the village and talk to the doctor.

16.

Go back to the tree where you got the berry, then go down and right and use the berry on the fire.

17.

Go back to the village and go right to the beach. Grab the crab, and go back into the village to give the berry to the doctor.

18.

Leave the hut and go right, and there will be a boat. Click it then head right to the next island.

Part 2 19.

Click the right part of the dock to get on it, grab the rope and go into the cabin. Use the crab on the pirate to take him out, then grab the pirate clothes and use them on yourself.

20.

Go to the right until you see the "Slippery Noose" bar and go down. Go into the "Pawne Shop", and use the lantern on the man inside. Then click on the string to grab the fishing rod.

21.

Head back to the dock and go on the dock, then use the fishing rod on the water to catch a fish.

22.

Head back to the "Slippery Noose", and go right and down once. Use the fish on the cat to get it.

23.

Head to the "Pawne Shop" and give the cat to the merchant. You'll get a key in return.

24.

Go to where you found the cat and go up from there, use the rope on the brach that is coming out of the cliff and go down. Grab the coin.

25.

Head back to the "Slippery Noose" and go in. Hand the barkeeper the gold coin. Your bottle is now a rum bottle.

26.

Walk over to where you tied the rope to the branch, and go up until you reach the tower. Hand the pirate the rum bottle, and take his sword. Then enter the tower.

27.

Use the key on the door then enter.

28.

Throw the coconut at the captain and use the sword on his head to kill him. Enjoy the cheesy ending and your new rank: Perfect Hero.

Thanks Groogokk, I went to the island at the very beginning and looked through the telescope, when I return to look again it won't re-show the scenario, so your help was appreciated.
NOW. How do I get a skull? I have crab, roasted berry etc. Any HELP PLEASE!

Okay I found the right skull to collect

I got 413/125 by clicking the smiley mask over and over.. also finished the game

just the type of fun game to kill a little time, but not stressful enough to have you tearing out your hair :)

A fun game, not too difficult. There are some great comments, as others have pointed out. My favorite: in the headhunter chief's hut, click on all of the skulls from left to right.

Also, if you click on the table in the pirate's cabin: "Hey, that's the same table you have on your ship! Must be from IKEA."

Great game! a little easy, but still fun! 125 out of 125 which gives the rank of "Perfect Hero". :D

Nevermind, I figured it out, got a little further, got frustrated and just used the walkthrough. They shouldn't be so easy to view.

I liked the cute stuff in it. These aren't really spoilers, but:

I liked the cinematic whimsy of the spot-light becoming the moon, esp against the primitive graphics. It's striking.

I liked the interesting ways of dying too.

I can't open the gate! I've tried clicking every single bit of the gate & to the right of it, it just wont open, what am i doing wrong?

Ok... what's good about this is that it's a point-and-click adventure in the style of King's Quest, which is something that I think Flash is a really great platform for but something that not a lot of game developers/writers decide to pursue.

But the graphics... my god the graphics. SO BAD!! Why has only one person mentioned this yet? To me, you can't let a game like this get away with looking as ugly as it does without even mentioning that the graphics are kind of a weak point, or else what is even the point of having a site like this? Don't you think that the author would like knowing the weakness in his creation so he/she can work it out for the next game?

I would if I were the one making games. So if you're reading this James... to be honest, I liked the looks of this game but I don't have that much time on my hands, and the look and feel of it were just not enough to hold my interest on the puzzles. So keep making point-and-clicks and also learn to draw :)

What confused me was the fact that

Your ship at the beginning is flying a pirate flag, but the pirates are your enemies! I know, I know--reading too much into it.

how do I get into the pawn shop, it has a sign on it saying it's closed! been walking around and keep going back but it's still closed, stuck now as i need to go in to go any further!

Suho1004 - there is a 9-part Phantasy series of Flash animations that feature the same characters. By watching them you learn that this is not the first time those two have encountered the pirates. ;)

Did anyone else run into the bug where

you tried to open the gates by pressing the button, and then it said they were open, but they were not? that's when I gave up

It was fun, the vicious murder was a bit unnecessary though.
My main complaint would be the completely random use of music, and particularly that the graphics in 'Behold Thy Graphics' were better, and they weren't even trying.

erm.. I can't really find the gate.. I tried the route from the walkthrough like 5 times but I don't really get out.. yeah, I got out, found a big rock which I moved with my stick and now i'm back at the used to be dead tree..
I believe I've been everywhere in the cave but still cant find the way to the gate

To: Groogokk You mentioned the series King's Quest! You gotta remember then, the old Space Quest series, too. Any idea where I can get the old "Space" series without having to play them in MS-DOS mode? I tried to die just for the fun on it. It's pretty funny how when you try to pull the rock away, it tells you these stuff.

The rock is wedged beneath the boulder, barely keeping it from rolling down.

I'd be careful about moving that rock, as it's holding the boulder in place.

You really don't want to be downhill from the boulder, if it should start rolling.

Darn, didn't let me kill the pirate to save the girl, kept saying he was too far away although he managed to kill me somehow.

That was a refreshingly fun game, but very easy. I look forward to this game designer making more complex games in the future.
