Your plane goes down on a mysterious and seemingly deserted island somewhere off the radar charts, and it is up to you to find a way to Escape from Island using only the resources available to you.
Simply move the mouse around each scene to locate positions to click. The mouse cursor will turn into a hand to alert you that something may be there. Arrow symbols are displayed when movement in that direction is possible.
Thought-provoking puzzles and a well-illustrated environment together create an atmosphere ripe for adventure and captivating gameplay. The game is the next in what is hopefully a long series of point-and-click adventure games by Aztec, the same developer(s) that created The Shrine, previously reviewed here last month. Play Escape from Island.
Cheers to Wouter for the link and to Skizzarah for the walkthrough in the comments. =)

I've made a complete walkthrough for Escape from Island.
If you decide to post this game, please post the walkthrough for me and just give me some credit :) Here's the guide...

Go left and pick up the fishing line then go back right.
Go right again, then forward and pick up the shovel. Go back, then left.
Forward, pick up the saw.
Forward again, pick up the rope.
Forward, poke the kitten (not necessary, but fun) then go left, get the pick.
Forward, use the rope on the metal loop, then click on the rope to scale the cliff.
Pick up the stone key, go right, pick up the bow and arrow, then return left.
Click on the rope to get back up the cliff, then go right and pick up the knife.
Go right again, then forward, and pick up the tank and the rod sticking out from the bamboo. Fill the tank by dragging it to the water.
Go back, left, back, back, back, and left so you are at the burning plane again. Use the filled tank on the fire, get the zippo lighter. Also, use the pick on the rock above the plane and get the emerald green snack.
Go right, light the statue's finger on fire with the zippo, right again, then forward and use the pick on the end of the wall and get the golden flake.
Go back, left, forward, forward, forward (shoot the cat with the bow and he bats it away!), left, and light the statue's finger.
Forward, then use the bow and arrow to aim at the bridge and shoot it down.
Go forward and pick up the hook. Now combine the fishing line, rod, and hook.
Go right and use the fishing pole in the water to catch a fish.
Go left and forward, and give the bear the fish.
Go right, light the statue's finger, and use the stone key on the far off door.
Enter the door by going forward, and pick up the ruby key.
Go back, left, back, right, and use the knife to cut the bear free.
Go left and back and pick up the diamond key.
Go right twice and light the fourth statue's finger on fire. They should all be lit and the ground will shake.
Go left and back and cut down the tree the the cat is sleeping under with the saw. This gives you the log.
Go back and right, then use the pick twice on the rock to destroy it.
Go forward and open the door with the ruby key.
Again, go forward, and pick up the golden staff.
Go back, back, and left, then place the staff into the stone with the hole. Use the shovel on the spot that the light from the staff makes and obtain the purple orb.
Go forward twice and use the log on the white tower. Enter the tower by clicking on the log.
Place the orb in the hole, then put the diamond key in the small hole that appears. You've escaped the island, congrats! Now to escape those aliens....
It's a nice and appealing pnc. It's maybe a pity it's so much easier than The shrine. My 5 year old daughter (allthough a fervent point and clicker) just managed to do it in 19 minutes with only 2 clues from my side.
Nice game. Didn't find the green snack, but even if I had, I think there would still be a remaining free slot in the inventory (I found the gold flake too). Maybe there's something else...
Very fun game, but I'm as confused as anybody about the function of the green snack and the gold flake. Does anyone know?
I liked this one. Solved it in 17 minutes with only maybe 4 hints from the walkthrough (two of which were just for the emerald snack and gold flake). That's a personal accomplishment for me :P
I think the empty space left in the inventory at the end of the game is from the fishing pole. It disappears after it is used instead of just becoming deactivated like the rest of the inventory items.
The gold flake and green snack are probably going to be used in a future installment of the series.
Wasn't there also a useless green snack in the first Aztec game?
Thank you :)
great game, the only problem is that the saw looks like a paint scraper.
nice game, without too much that'll only be solved by dillegently clicking every point on the screen. Dont think the island is uninhabited though!
What was that small remote beach area for?
I enjoyed this game a lot. Only needed a hint about 2 things. That's pretty good for me.
I LOVED this game. It didn't have annoying pixel hunts. Everything was logical, which is a rarity in these types of games.
Oh yeah, try shooting an arrow at the cat :)
How do you fill the tank?
Catss, you just need to drag the tank over a river.
The review picture maps out all paths!
Thanks for walkthrough

surfmadpig: yeah, I think it is a paint scraper.
I won the game in 12 minutes flat! No walkthrough hints! I was pretty lucky! I hated torturing the poor kitty!
That was fun, although very easy. I finished it with no help(although I missed the flake and snack) and I usually go running to the walkthrough about three steps in. I liked that there was no random pixel hunting, though.
One could try to shoot the poor kitty too... :( ew!
:)
Great game...just a little short.
Japanese saws really look like that.
http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=42896&cat=1,42884
I managed to find everything on my own, except the emerald snack? and

I dont know why you say this game was logical... there were random aliens and tools all over the "desserted" island.
I'm getting a Service Not Available error... I think the link needs to be fixed.
Hey, this is a very cool game :D
same here, blakyoshi7. I think this site needs a mirror.
nevermind, game is up again
I think I see a face in the rock wall behind the plane crash...
...sigh...
It's a shame that so many developers fail to toe the line properly between making games that flow logically and also making them challenging. A sequence of events that the player has to accomplish that follows perfectly logically or expectedly is a sequence that is very easy or intuitive to reconstruct for the player: the game is easy. Many developers try to introduce difficulty by adding "pixel-hunting" or making it so that the player actions have impossibly unintended consequences so that it becomes more "difficult" to figure out what to do next. Of course, the more far-fetched you get, the closer your chances of DEDUCING the next action draw to impossible, and the less the game resembles an exercise in lateral thinking than a random clickfest.
What's a developer to do? I of course prefer the ones that make more sense, even when they're easier like this one (probably just sour grapes at the fact that I'm REALLY BAD at guessing what to do next when it's not logical.) I've simply begun to skip all the new Japanese room escape games that involve clicking everywhere along the edge of a bed because you KNOW you have to be able to look under it, they just made it really hard to figure out exactly where to click.
I think Skutnik of the Submachine series has it right. He tends to include thinking problems that don't involve random guessing but actually synthesizing clues from your environment into solutions for complex lock mechanisms for instance... and furthermore, he makes the journey through the puzzles into an artistic experience so that even when there isn't as much of a challenge to enjoy, there is at least a nice drawing to look at, or a mysterious story, and that's what makes you want to progress. This game has some of those elements, but to a much lesser degree as I found it mostly an exercise in just doing exactly what is expected.
My pick does not seem to be working.
I totally agree with elemento.
I beat the game in 16 minutes, and the only help I needed was what to do with the lighter. Quite frankly, I never would have guessed that the statues had to be lit on fire, otherwise the game was great.
I also have to comment on bunnyrounder's comment, as to 'why are there things all over this deserted island?'
That's another challenge of game design. You can ask any user/viewer/gamer to make one leap of faith, usually that leap of faith is something like 'magic exists' or 'there was an ancient alien civilization'. In this game, there have to be two, one is 'there are aliens' and the other is 'the aliens created a beacon that you could unlock'.
It's an enormous challenge (mind you, one I enjoy) to build a world where that happens, especially when you have to also balance between creative thinking and logical steps.
Once again, one of the reasons submachine is so good is that you only need one leap of faith, 'there are a number of alternate realities populated with ancient relics'.
All in all, this was a cute fun distraction, but with a little to abstract of an ending and a little too little of a challenge in creative thinking.
How do you catch the fish . . . . .
Im in ur island...
playing with ur alian devicez
This game has one of my pet peeves:

Not sure if it's imoprtant but....

Sorry, but that was not a good adventure game.
Several combinations of items with world objects inexplicably didn't work until some arbitrary time (

And unless there's a reference I'm not aware of, the ending makes no kind of sense.
Nice game, 14 minutes well-spent at work!
great game! first game i solved all by myself!! *proud* solved it in 23 min! :D
the_corrupter what is up with you and leap of faith and i completed it in 7:32 i timed myself it so so so so so so so easy and the combinations that worked are really weird
I thought the statues were holding candles. If I was lighting their fingers on fire, I'm sorry but there's more to life than being stuck on an island populated with strange alien artifacts.
what was the cat for - its just made weird noises
i finished in 5 min. no walkthrough or anything this game is EASY

i'm seriously so stuck i have a little over half the clues but i'm confused on what to do now and what is that animal across the river in the cave..???? haha
what do you do to that huge white stone thing when it falls after lighting the statues?
Great game! I did it in 17mins but I did not use a walkthrough, yeah me! :)
More please !!!
Na X
I think the animal was some sort of bear? or kangaroo? Pass!
Great game. I did need a couple hints, but still ended in 15 min.
For a long while I thought the saw was a flashlight though. >
what do i do with the dead thing?
o.0 How do you guys combine the fishing line + fishing hook? dragging wont work with me...
How do you combine the hook, rod, and fishing line?
it goes rod

in that order or it doesnt work.
this is my first time posting something... yay me!!!!!!!!!
I CAN NEVER PICK UP THE PICK!! it's so annoying
Try copying the link then going to the home site http://aztec.sakura.ne.jp/index.html, then that stupid writing will go and you can pick up that pick. Oh yeh I know what to do with the green thing and the flake. its realy funny
it was a very easy did it in about 4 mins it was ok and i dident use the walkthrugh
where is the fishing line?
Oh found the fishing line. Thought it was a yoyo LOL
i finished the game in 9 minutes with no help at all! i fell proud:) also when you find the bow and arrow on the ground it says "beware of purple" or something like that but did anyone else notice that the spaceship and orb were purple?
how do you combine the rod hook +whatever ? do you drag them on top of each other? or do you click on them in a certain order??? HELP!
done in 13 minutes!!! WOO!!!
what do you do with the flake/ emerald snack?!
How do you shoot the bridge down?
yehey!!! i finished it in 8mins. flat!!!! very nice and good game!

Er...where the heck is the fish rod?
Oops sorry had the rod all the time...
11 minutes :D
what saw??? i only find a rope and a paint scraper thingy!!!!
i did this in like 5 minutes top that!!
I need help whith the Shovel

there are unused items and such i wonder if theres another way out the island.
Also, when you're at the place you fish clicking on the island to your right will take you to some sort of bay that apparently has nothing to do with the aliens.
Also what was the watch for purple thing..
Is there another way out rather than get raped by aliens?
Where is the ORB????
Very good game, i used 1 hint and that was to cut the tree down near the cat ! thats the only one ! and i done the rest on my own and completed it in 19mins, then i tried again (knowing what to do) and done it in 2mins =D
so the final mysteries of the game:

and,

also,

yeah, can anyone enlighten me on what the green snack and gold flake are for?

it's hard i had to reastart 5 times already
what we do with the golden flake?
I can't catch the fish!! Where do you put the fishing rod??
finished in 14 minutes
how do you get the purple orb and the fishing rod and the green snack?
type back lol
i know too but ill never tell!!

I am having a terrible time getting the pointer in just the correct click point. For example

I found this problem in several places.

If it hadn't been for the problem of finding the correct pixels to click on, I would have been faster and might not have consulted the walk thru. I was understanding the logic but just couldn't click the right spots.
It is a cute and fun game all the same. :)
I apologize.

I did things out of order a little because I didn't consult the walk thru until total frustration set in. Except for finding it hard to find the correct place to click in a few places, this was a really nice and fun game.
I am NOT posting my time here. It is too embarrassing.
i finished in 17 seconds My personal best!
Can someone please tell me which part of the end wall am i supposed to click with the pixel in order to get the Gold Flake? I've tried clicking the entire wall to no avail.
In the final step, where is the hole in which i am supposed to insert the purple orb?
Good gameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! :)
I love this web page!!!!

Not only are useless the gold flake and the green snack, you don't even have to find them to complete the game. I first managed to complete the game without ever finding the green thing.
What do you do with the emerald and the golden flake?
Where's the fishing rod?
Where is the bow and arrow?
I am ashamed cos i did it using the walkthrough not by myself and it was the best one ever although i dont think the bear would reeli help and i dont think the aliens would be there.
i got it done in 8 min. with some help from here. it was very confusing. did that guy even get saved or was he sucked up by space people? anyways thanks for the walkthrough!
the green snack probably does not effect your game
ditto with gold flake
I am a newbie with respect to these escape games and find that most of them I need a walkthrough early on. I hate the pixel hunting and language barriers that so many have. This was nice and not too easy (I still needed walkthroughs). I am quite embarrassed because one of the posts says their 5 year old did it in 19 minutes with no hints. I'm 50 and would lose my mind without walkthroughs! Thanks for a very nice game and thanks also for the walkthroughs!
heres a funny thing to do, poke the cats ear,:

This is a really great game, I really like the logical sequence and graphics it's not bad neither
I recommand !!!
this thing is so easy i did it in 11 minutes
I did it in 6 minutes without using any of the hints it was so easy!!!!!!!!!!!

(I'm not sure what the uses for the green snack and the gold flake are, but they do make a satellite appear at the ending screen. Perhaps that is all they do?)Posted by: Skizzarah | July 29, 2007 2:40 PM
