SnowyI have been mesmerized lately by the cuteness of this little Flash platformer, and for good reason. First off, it's got the cute thing going for it, and that always works for me. The way Snowy the little bear just prances in place while waiting for you to move him around is cuteness beyond words. Second, the game is a lot of fun to play for gamers of all ages.

Snowy throws snow balls at enemies to turn them into huge snowballs. Once an enemy becomes completely covered, just run up to it and give it a kick and off it goes, knocking out other enemies in its path. Dispense with all the enemies on each level to move on to the next.

Use the arrow keys to control Snowy, left and right, and up to jump. Press Ctrl to throw snowballs and kick 'em to kingdom come. The game is simple fun with charming characters, animation and sound effects. Very easy to pick up and play, and offering lots of arcade action and fun. In fact, there is so much going on for such a simple little old-school platformer, it will keep you engaged while giggling to yourself the whole time you play. And who couldn't use a good giggle, hmm? Play Snowy.

Thanks go to Nick for pointing out that Snowy is a remake of Taito's 1990 arcade classic Snow Bros, a game that offered similar over-the-top snowball platforming mayhem.

Oooh, a remake of the old Taito "Snow Bros" arcade game. So much nostalgia!

Thanks, Nick! I knew the gameplay seemed familiar, though I just couldn't place it.

ok, since us grad students have the game project due...how about a post of simple to replicate games? Must have decent games play, but able to be built in less than two weeks. :P

Excellent idea, Cher. There are lots of great game ideas right here that I think you could pull off in two weeks' time.

I have been busy finishing a paper for Interactive Narrative, which is why i haven't posted anything in a couple of days. I will put something together and post it later this evening after my classes are over.

anyone got a really high score yet? cuz ill post mine then

I don't get it. HELP!!

Space works instead of ctrl, BTW.

I think I'm getting pretty good at this game -- I just hit my all-time personal best score of 762,040. I may have to go ahead and spring for the full version.

Make that 787,110. That full version is looking better and better all the time...

Wow, my personal best: 833,820!!!

I don't know if it's just me but the link to the game isn't working =(

Thanks, Rachel! Fixed.
