Is it any wonder that the simplest games to play are often the popular ones? 12many is a nice little Flash game from Tonypa that has been making the rounds on the Web, and for good reason: the rules of the game are simple and easy for anyone to understand.
For a very brief moment you will see a black square with a random number of stars to count. Just click the correct number to earn as many points. Bonus points are awarded for 5 correct answers in a row. You can make only 3 wrong guesses, though if you are within 1 there is no penalty. How high a score can you get? Click.

Hi jay, I have updated this game and its on my site again. Could you perhaps edit the link to play.php? Also, the game graphics have been slightly redesigned, so maybe new screenshot?
It now shows you the review of stars so you can count them after the answer :)
The game is released under CC license to anyone can download it and play it on their computer or place on their non-commercial site.

Nice idea, getting a bit too boring with time. 856 for the first try with an accidental misclick and a few lucky guesses. The problem with it is that it tests the same skill for a longer period of time - if you're good at peripherical perception, and are used to not following movement with your eyes but seize the whole picture, for example, this game is a piece of cake for you.
I guess my 856 is not a very good result (OK, it's half past two in the night here and I'"m a bit tired :))), but frankly, for the second half I got this game test my guessing abilities for the rounds with more than 12 stars. I learned that I can confidently count up to 12 stars in this time frame - that's a gain already, isn't it?
I loved that you still have this sense for simplicity. Simple games can be a great source of fun, and you are a good provider of examples - great job, congrats!
