Space World Zelda lives!!

Dating back to Nintendo's Space World 2000 demo reel, a brand new Legend of Zelda was revealed today for Gamecube at Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference. The latest installment won't be due out until next year, but from the looks of what was shown today it is well along in development and looks absolutely gorgeous! Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's legendary game designer and creator of the Zelda series, had this to say of the game:

"Even after 18 years, the Legend of Zelda never stops changing and this game is no different. We are now taking you to a world where Link has grown up—a world where he will act different and look different. In order to grow, Link must not stand still and neither can I. Thank you and goodbye."

My jaw dropped as soon as I saw that news and looked at the pictures and video. :-)

Honestly, I giggled and cried simultaneously when I first saw the news and video: It had been a very long time since the SpaceWorld 2000 demo video showed promises of what Gamecube could deliver. And then in an instant, it was like being reunited with a long lost love previously thought to have been lost forever. Kudos to Nintendo for delivering what many fans want most.

This is gonna be a very long year-in-waiting. But with amazing games on the Horizon like Metroid Prime 2, Doom 3, Half-Life 2, GT4, Halo 2, Fable, Paper Mario 2, RE4... whew, the rest of this year is gonna be crazy!

wow! this will rule

thank you nintendo!!! from what i hear and read from the box at EB Games the release date is Oct. 2nd. or twenty something, but it's October, so says the box

you are my hero Nintendo. I will have to wait almost a year but it will be well worth the wait errrr..... must wait.:)

as far is i know the Legend of Zelda (Space World 2000) was cancelled but if anyone knows other wise please let me know

I guess my point here, Ben, is that the 'Space World Zelda' that everyone fell in love with back in 2000, the one with a more realistic Link, was not discarded as a mere tech-demo for the Gamecube: it is, in fact, Twilight Princess.
