The esports calendar still has plenty left in it before 2026 wraps up. We see major tournaments in Counter-Strike and VALORANT landing in the final stretch of the year.

That late-season timing gives these events a different feel from tournaments earlier in the calendar. Teams have already played through months of competition and roster changes. Fans have a much clearer idea of who the genuine contenders are.

There are also some huge stages still to come. Events are in Malta and Singapore...even Los Angeles and New York.

Thunderpick World Championship 2026

One of the first major events in this final run is the Thunderpick World Championship 2026.

The tournament has been running through online stages during the year before building towards a LAN finale in Malta from October 14 to October 18. The 2026 championship has a total prize pool of $1.115 million. Teams have qualified through regional series before reaching the final stage.

Counter-Strike is a natural fit for this sort of year-long structure because the competitive scene is so active. Teams can look brilliant for a few weeks and then struggle once opponents adapt, while map pools and individual form can change the picture quickly.
Malta's Thunderpick World Championship 2026 brings eight teams together. We will see major names such as Natus Vincere and The MongolZ competing for the huge title.
The timing is useful too. Mid-October sits right in the middle of a crowded Counter-Strike period. Many teams arrive with plenty of recent competitive form behind them.

People will be hoping for more exciting moments in the tournament!

League of Legends World Championship

The League of Legends World Championship remains one of the biggest esports events anywhere. The 2026 edition runs from October 15 to November 14.

This year it returns to North America and moves through several cities.

The Play-In stage takes place in Los Angeles. The Swiss Stage and Knockout Stage move to Texas. The Grand Final then heads to Barclays Center in New York on November 14.

Worlds has a special place in esports because League of Legends has been one of the games most closely linked with the growth of competitive gaming.

Regional leagues spend the year building towards this point, and the tournament brings together the strongest teams from all over the world. The 2026 field is set to include 19 teams. The competition gradually narrows through Play-Ins and a knockout bracket.
That structure helps Worlds feel less like one weekend and more like a full event season of its own.
This is normally the one for LoL fans. It is the elite tournament in this particular esport.

PGL Major Singapore 2026

Counter-Strike then gets another enormous event at the end of November.
PGL Major Singapore 2026 begins with its opening stages in late November before the main tournament continues into December. The final phase runs from December 3 to December 13. There is a $1.25 million prize pool to be earned in Singapore - the host city.

Majors carry a different weight from ordinary Counter-Strike tournaments.
There are plenty of large events across the year. The Major label immediately makes a tournament part of the game's historical record. Past winners are remembered for years. A great run at a Major can change how a team or player is viewed.

Singapore is also a significant location.
Top-level esports has become increasingly international, and major tournaments now move comfortably around the world. A December Major in Singapore gives Counter-Strike a huge closing event just as many other esports circuits are winding down.

The timing also means teams have almost an entire season of form behind them. Strong teams have had months to settle into their systems.

VALORANT Champions 2026

VALORANT Champions begins slightly earlier than some of the other events here. It still stretches deep into October.
The tournament runs from September 24 to October 18 and carries a $2.25 million prize pool.

Champions is the biggest event in the VALORANT calendar and acts as the final international test after the regional and Masters competitions earlier in the year.

That gives it a similar role to Worlds in League of Legends.

Teams arrive after a long season of regional play, and the winner gets to finish the year as the game's biggest international champion.
VALORANT also creates an interesting spectator experience because individual rounds can swing quickly. That has helped the game develop a strong esports identity in a relatively short period.
October therefore has a particularly busy feel in 2026. VALORANT Champions overlaps with the Thunderpick finals and the opening stages of League of Legends Worlds.

PGL Masters Bucharest Adds Another Major October Stop

Counter-Strike fans also have PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 to look forward to from October 24 to October 31.

Bucharest has long been a familiar esports destination. This event lands only days after the Thunderpick World Championship finishes. It isn't the biggest but it is definitely worth checking out for CS2 fanatics.
