Are you looking for some useful PoE 2 trading tips? If so, you have come to the right place! In this article, we will give you the information that you need to sell items for a quick Exalted Orb (or more)!
How to Trade Items in PoE 2
Path of Exile 2 is unlike any other RPGs out there when it comes to the topic of trading. You see, there is no in-game auction house that allows you to sell stuff even when you're offline. The thing is, you have to be online for your items to be visible on the PoE 2 trade website.
Wait, why do you need an external platform for trading? Well, allow us to brief you on the situation. Developer Grinding Gear Games has always had a solid stance regarding trading in PoE 1 (and subsequently, Path of Exile 2).
Essentially, the company wants player interaction to be a focal point when enjoying its games. If GGG were to implement an auction house, it would enable players to just play on their own without ever having to talk to other people.
No matter how you feel about that, one thing is for sure: the current trading system is going to stay in Path of Exile 2, at least, in the foreseeable future.
With that out of the way, how exactly do you trade items in Path of Exile 2 ? You have to spend some real money to purchase a Premium Stash Tab in the game's online store. Besides that, GGG sells stash tabs at a discounted rate every three weeks, so it's probably good to wait a bit longer if you want to save.
If you have at least one Premium Stash Tab, right-click on the tab's interface on the top of the inventory UI. This allows you to set the stash tab on "Public," which makes all of the items you put in there visible for everyone to see.
Once you have a particular item that you want to sell, put it inside the Premium Stash Tab and right-click on it again. Then, set "Exact Price" and click on the drop-down menu to select Exalted Orb or Divine Orb as the main currency. Right next to it is a box where you can input the exact amount of the item you're selling.
After everything's done, your item should be visible on the Path of Exile 2 trade website. If it's still not there, just wait for several minutes.
Use the Reforging Bench to Get Good Items
There is a new Path of Exile 2 mechanic not present in the original game where you can reforge a few items into a completely new one. To do that, you have to first unlock the Reforging Bench by defeating the boss in The Molten Vault in Act 3.
The Molten Vault boss is a bit challenging if you are under-geared. Make sure that you go in there with at least 50% fire resistance. It is also good if you can utilize a cold damage skill (or spell) to make the boss encounter relatively easy to accomplish.
Once the Reforging Bench is unlocked, you can find it in one of the main cities in the game. If you're already in the endgame, do not forget to put it on your hideout by using the "Edit" button. You can find the Reforging Bench under the "Utility" tab.
That said, the Reforging Bench is a great way to repurpose some of the old items that you have lying around. For example, if you have three Amethyst Rings with mediocre stats, you can use the PoE 2 reforge mechanic to get an Amethyst Ring with possibly better modifiers than the previous ones.
Know What Modifiers Are Great for Gear
Follow a good PoE 2 build guide to understand what modifiers are great for a particular build. The Explosive Shot Deadeye is one of the best Ranger builds in Path of Exile 2 right now, so we will use it as an example.
The modifiers that are useful for the said build include evasion, dexterity, life, capped resistances, level of projectile skills, increased physical damage, added physical damage, and increased attack speed.
When you have a bow that has a couple of physical damage mods and increased attack speed, then you can sell that for about one to two Exalted Orbs (depending on where you are in the campaign).
Furthermore, if the modifiers are of a higher tier, which means that their numeric values can roll pretty high, then that can influence the price of the item as well.
Look at the Trade Website for Average Pricing
If you are unsure how to price your particular item, go to the PoE 2 trade website and use the platform's various filters to mimic the item you're selling. Once you see the average price, look at the tier of mods that your item has. If they are better than the ones on the trade website, then set your item's price a bit higher than usual.
Closing the Sale
Once you have placed your item in your Premium Stash Tab, all you have to do is wait patiently. Give it a couple of days before changing its price. After two days have elapsed, look at the trade website again to see if the average pricing has changed.
If there was movement in the Path of Exile 2 economy, adjust the price a bit lower than what it was previously so that you can sell the item faster.
Conversely, if a lot of people are flooding you with messages shortly after putting up the item for sale, that is a good indicator that you're pricing it quite lower than the average price. Unless your intention is to trade it quickly, you might want to set a higher value for the item you're selling for a profit.
To get good items in this game from trade, you have to have certain PoE 2 currency items like Exalted Orbs and Divine Orbs on hand. Do you want to skip the grind and get fantastic deals on these currencies? If so, head to our PoE 2 store right away!
