Space Defenders Walkthrough
Tips:

  • The few ships you have, the more damage you do. Having a single ship is significantly better than the entire armada.

  • Focus your firepower on the most dangerous opponent first.

  • Rocket launchers in buildings are always a problem. It is worth losing some of your men on such targets than constantly dodging their attacks.

  • Tank shots cover wide areas, but don't bother attacking them first. They are a nuisance, but they can be dodged easily.

  • Bazooka attacks trail you for approximately a screen's distance. Dodge them by flying in curves.

  • Missiles will explode if they hit a mine.

  • Take out missile silos first.

OK...

...Who else can't believe this hasn't been done before now?!

Oh that's just awful. A little human got stuck on the far right side of the screen in one level, and for some arbitrary reason my aliens could't go over far enough to shoot him. He wouldn't move and it was impossible to clear the level and continue.

I guess I was lucky if the music wasn't playing at all for me (sound FX worked, though). Just entertaining enough to be fun. Last level got a bit boring, though, when almost all of the fleet goes away in a few seconds and I spent several minutes hiding and avoiding a constant stream of guided projectiles. I think it would have been slightly nicer if you had a better idea of the altitude limits. As it is, it feels like a flaw when you can't tell how well you'll be able to avoid the next volley.

But I did like the dodge-and-weave gameplay.

I agree with Dave. Why has no one done this before? Now I want to play Donkey Kong where you control the gorilla, or Pac-Man where you control the ghosts...

The baddies (people) can get to the edge of the screen where the good guys (alien crafts) can't shoot them (at least if you've had your wingmen blasted). Can't restart, can't win...

Ok, if you wait long enough it will let you move on, but not a good thing.

Nice game!

CowboyRobot, you might try searching for a game called Anti-Pacman, or playing just about anything by Retro Sabotage (previously linked on this very site).

We're losing ships sir. What are your orders?

Increase speed, drop down and reverse direction!

Really great idea, but sadly, it's pretty dull to play.
