Learn 2 Fly: The Emperor Strikes Back
Summer is often a season of sequels, a season of unimaginative rehashings of proven hits, hoping that the sweaty populace will be too befuddled to notice that the movie or game they're consuming is exactly the same as its predecessor only with all the charm and surprise sucked out. That's why Learn 2 Fly is as refreshing as a blast of south pole air.

@Cams:
I haven't tried it yet, but I think you'll have to lower the ramp. I think you can launch straight horizontally, and have enough power to make it all the way to the 5th. You'll probably need to have the omega engine as well.
Again, haven't tried it yet, but I think that's the key. Let me know!
@cams
The way I destroyed all five items in one flight was to set the ramp as high as possible, and after launch I turn backwards. After having flown backwards for about 100ft I turn around again, as low as possible, and use a tad boost now and again to keep the velocity high enough to crash through the objects.
@smjjames
Yes, you can get all bonus items, but it will require quite some grinding. You'll lack something like 1,500-2,000 points when you're done with all medals except for The Rise! and It's Rob!, however fret not because you'll gain bonus points every time you fly in the Arcade Mode.
There's eight secrets in the game, with eight corresponding medals. Mouseover the medals to get a clue.
1. "Give an Inch..."
click on the money tally while shopping
2. "He'll Take A Yard"
click on the money tally again
3. "The Brick"
In Story Mode, open the Glider catalog and turn to the last page. Click on the empty page under the Whirlybird 512
4. "Revenge Of The Brick"
In Story Mode, equip the Brick glider, and destroy any obstacle. You might want to use another glider first to get money for a sled and booster so you can get there.
5. "It's Rob!" - I don't know. The game gives a hint: "Sometimes, when you run out of fuel at high altitudes..."
6. "Rise!" - I don't know. The game gives a hint: "Sometimes, when you land on the ground..."
7. "The Easy Way"
When you finish Story Mode, it tells you how you can unlock Arcade and Classic Modes without finishing Story Mode first.
8. "Achievement!"
Click on the absent medal -- achievement get!
I got the "Its Rob!" medal. I had super slide, brick, omega drive, and dark matter. The ramp was default. I flied vertically till I had fuel, then fall on my feet. After this the God Penguin commanded me, to rise and fly again. I think the brick doesnt matter, because the God Penguin want us to fly. Sorry for my bad english, and I hope that I could help you.

Calendar:

"Would you like to have more days in a month? This calendar starts on day zero! Now, you'll complete everything one day quicker! ...In theory anyway."
250.
"Forget about that misprinted calendar you got there, I got this little beauty here, starts a -1! Just imagine how much you'll do with 2 extra days!"
500.
"Alright, my rarest item, super misprinted calendar starts at -2! Nobody will buy this junk, so i'll make you a deal. Come on, that's 3 days that don't even count! (In your head, at least!)"
Money Increase:
100.
"Nobody gets rich by earning their money. The real way to make the big bucks is knowing how to make more from what you got. 5% more cash on every run, what do you say?"
250.
"You look like you're ready for "Volume 2. Making money out of the extra money you already make with the first book". 10% more, everytime... think about it!"
500.
"Best of the bunch, "Volume 3: Making 15 more money from your flight attemps". Why am I selling this instead of using it myself you say? You talk too much kid... You want the book or not?"
Feathers:
100.
"Genuine Pheonix feather. This will reduce the speed loss when flying 10%! Whoops... I'll just remove this made in China sticker... Doesn't belong to this item, Obviously!"
250.
"That feather you go there just comes around the butt of a Pheonix. Take this one, its from the wings I think. I give you a discount, you get rid of the Pheonix butt stink, and you reduce drag by 20%, how's that!
500.
"This item is on fire dude! If that's not enought to convince you into buying it at any cost, I don't know what will! Oh, you'll also get 30% less speed loss from air friction."
Booster:
100.
"Boost efficiency booster, it's like a turbo, but it works on engines, rockets, thrusters, heck it'll work on air balloons! 5% increase in power, and you can't beat the price!"
250.
"5% is good and all... But real manly penguins won't settle for just that. 10% is what you'll get from this baby. More power means better results, better monet, and definitely gets the women's attention... Trust me."
500.
"It's a nice booster you got there, but you know what's better than a kick-ass turbo? 2 kick-ass turbos! Hey, it's okay if you're not enough of a penguin to handle 15% more power! I'll just sell it to a better customer, that's all.
Weaker Icebergs:
100.
"So I heard you're on a quest for revenge against icebergs? Make you a deal, you give me those bonus points and I'll buy a hammer, let ot run on idle all day long. That'll make these icebergs 15% weaker if i'm correct."
250.
"Global warming takes money and gas, you know? Listen, for some more points, I'm geating a second car and making sure it has leaking gaskets, burning some oil and all that... 30% weaker icebergs I'd say..."
500.
"Final offer, I start a "Kill the planet" ad campaign, everyone contributes and the ice fellows are sure to melt, that'll make then 45% weaker for sure.
Air Glide:
100.
"Flying in the redzone can really reduce your flying speed, that's why the fellows at Supersprays developed the "Air Glide I", they claim a 10% reduction of the drag effect associated with redzones."
250.
"Supersprays just came up with a better product for dealing with redzones. "Air Glide II" is the name! You should fell 20% less drag when going so fast."
500.
"I might've sorta lied to you... There's this stuff, "Air Glide III" already on the market, 30% redzone drag reduction. Forget about the crap I sold you earlier, this is the real deal."
Gravity:
100.
""Obey gravity, it's the law" Forget about this bullshit! With this item, You won't feel gravity anymore! Well... you won't fell 3.3% of gravity actually, but hey, it's still worth it!"
250.
"You see these two blue orbs next to the big one? Well I don't know what they do, but they sure make this item look better than the one you bought! Says here you'll get 6.6% gravity reduction, so it really is better than yours!"
500.
"Silver and blue is good, but black and green, now we're talking gravity thing! And look at the price, un-believable! Feel 10% less gravity! I can't believe I'm selling such a good looking item, but you're a good customer..."
Fuel:
100.
"Rockets, propellers, boosters... Ever felt like having a little extra fuel with those? 5% increase in fuel capcity for boost units and 10% for propelled gliders."
250.
"What, still want more fuel? Here, I kind of "borrowed" this one froma friend's car just now. Hold 10% more fuel than stock rocket tank, 20% more than stock propelled gliders."
500.
"Still want more!?! Ever heard of fuel efficient driving? Anyway, got this really big gas tank right here, don't ask how i got it... 15% more boosts fuel and 30% more propelled glider fuel, that's the most you'll get."
Information:
100.
"Information can be extremely valuable. With this thing here, you'll be able to see how far you traveled! Information has a price, though..."
250.
"Sure, you can use your eyes as your only flight instrument, but knowing how much resistance you get can prove very useful."
500.
"Redzone... Losing speed becaue you're going too fast can be a problem, so knowing exactly when to stop accelerating will help!"
Ramp:
250.
"If for some reason you feel like the developer did a bad job at setting the angle of the ramp, here's your chance to adjust it to suit your needs."
Omega:
1000.
"The Omega catalog... They say it was written by the aztecs, it was found next to a printing press not far from here. One extra upgrade in every possible aspect will be available in the shop once you buy this thing!"
VHS:
50.
"Behold. The VHS! Generations witnessed its incredible power (until those freaking dvds and blu-crap came out), and now, you too can watch all those cutscenes again if you want!"
Music Packs:
150 each.
Basic, Rock, Surf, Funk, Techno, Hip-hop, Smooth and Old.
I'm doubtful that CJ has the correct methods for the "Rise" and "ROB!" secrets:
I saved up for the Omega catalog, purchased an Omega Booster, landed on my feet (maximum resistance)... no "It's Rob!" Tried this in Arcade and in Story modes. Then I purchased a THOR booster, and flew backwards to -4000 metres... no "Rise". Tried this in Arcade and in Story modes.
Let me make a small correction:
5:It's ROB!
Lose fuel from above.
Lose fuel at high altitude, and sometimes it goes... ROB confirmed. Sending fuel...
6:RISE!
Land when you have no fuel...
Land, when you have no fuel, on your feet. Sometimes the god penguin will command you to RISE!
[Thanks for the correction, CJ! I've updated your initial comment. -Jay]
To get rise
guys, it doesn't matter what kind of booster you use. It just happens randomly. I just used the worst for everything (sand, kite, the plank, and propulsor) but the god penguin or wtv that ugly pixel thing was, commanded me to rise, like a boss.
In conclusion
It doesn't matter. it all happens randomly
Well I got 15645 in Arcade with the $25 000 budget
using:
-Hang glider
-The plank Mark 2
-THOR ramjet
-$10 000 of fuel (i.e. maxed)
-as much on ramp length as I could afford (i.e. all but the last 2 blocks filled)
-as much on ramp height as I could afford.
You should have $575 left after this (this is left unspent).
Good luck!
hey
so i just got rise and in story mode i tried to land the penguin on its back for like 20+ plus times but first time in classic mode it happens
and here is why
in story you play with a doll and a doll cant really fly but in classic you play with the penguin so strip down to the worst gear ( make it easyer to land on your back ) burn all full and land on back and with a little luck you will get rise
I have a theory about ROB: I think it has more to do with losing fuel "out of the altimeters range" and less with losing fuel "at a specific altitude". I did it and repeated how in the Kong chat window. Another fellow took my set up and got it right away.
Classic mode. Maxed Fuel, ramp height and length. Ramp angle set to default. Hang-glider; THOR Ramjet; Bobsleigh. Press and hold space as soon as you leave the ramp. You will run out of fuel somewhere above the range of the altimeter. ROB achieved.
I don't know if it will work for you. But it worked for two!
http://tinypic.com/r/2drtclk/7
Can you beat 52,367 distance?
RISE MEDAL:
to get the rise medal, you have to get a good booster and drop to the ground hold the down arrow to stay on the ground. then, use the booster to plow the snow in front of you until the plow doesn't grow anymore. once you do that, hold the up arrow key and it will say i command you to rise from the grave. and that is how to get the rise award.
Finally got the Diving 2 medal using UltraLight, kaBoom Box, and Cruise Missle. Before, I was trying to get as high as possible and plunge into the water, but this time I went as fast as possible staying fairly close to the land (100 ft), then plunged straight down as soon as I came to the water. Also, the height gauge doesn't really show you how deep into the water you go.
The Rise Medal is completely random
what i did trying to get 25 in a row not destroying anything:
-start a new game
-get the brick
-as soon as possible buy the spring box sleigh
-get your space key stuck with something
you will just keep starting and immediately drop to the floor.
doing this i eventually "rose from my grave", so yes, it's completely random
O.K. it looks like you guys need help with "rise" and "it's rob!"
this is what did.
for its rob,
i used a whirlybird, osmium, thor ramjet, and a bobsled. i just used the rocket at a random angle and went REALY high without letting go of the spacebar. eventualy rob will come with more fuel.
and for rise
i dont know what i used to do this but i had most basics. All i remember of it was i plowed through the snow man and there was some words and i flew up like... alot...
thats all i know so... yeah
Hello.
I see many people have had trouble with these three medals.
It's ROB!
You have to run out of fuel at a very high altitude, and, supposedly, there is a 1 in 10,000 chance you will get a visit from ROB.
Rise!
If you run out of fuel, and land on your back, then, again, 1 in 10,000 chance, Zeus, the penguin god will help you.
The Easy Way.
On the homepage, the penguin is sitting there at an angle towards you. Click his beak.
Guys, I got 2 simple theories on how to get rise, since, I JUST DID! It is either:
1: You got a terrible flight, your boost finished up too quick and didn't take you anywhere, and you didn't time El Bouncy(TM) at the right time, thus not helping you at all. Once you fall, you might get the RISE!
NOTE: When you are about to get rise, what you see is the pixelated picture of a penguin using a tunic and with a beard whilst talking to you via big, Yellow, all caps letters.
Or:
2: There isn't any way to get it 100%, it's just a random chance when you hit the ground.
How to get "It's Rob!":
Ok well this is just a way to get it since i just got it I wanted to share this:
Step 1: Buy and equip the Bobsleigh, Ultralight Aircraft, Cruise Missel, and Osmium
Step 2: Upgrade all things to max (not bonus shop)
Step 3: Buy the money book (max) and turbo (2) from the bonus shop
Step 4: Start your flight (dont touch any keys) and once your glider stops bringing you up high hit the space bar to use your booster.
You should fly to about 800 feet and hopefully you will meet Rob.
*NOTE* This is just the stuff i had equiped when i happened to get it I dont know if this is exactly what you need to find him. All i know is that you probably have to be over 500 feet in the air and then after that i think its all just random. Good luck and happy flying :)
P.S. : I did this in story mode (idk if that makes a difference).
I'm embarrassed to say I took 87 days on my first playthrough. (Got the Pacifist medal because I couldn't even reach the first obstacle until day 30!)
Hit all 5:
To reach a low height, you don't need to do a loop (or adjust the ramp angle). Simply use an active sleigh and use it before the end of the ramp. Use boost to leave the ground and hover just above it.
Diving:
No need for super high drops. Just hold boost and turn downwards. Works for me.
Glider selection:
Passive gliders are pretty hard to control, as far as I can tell. I don't use them except in Arcade.
Flying a propelled glider diagonally will give forward momentum. This is an alternative to using boost. However, when they run out it's pretty much game over. Hopefully you have all the distance you need by then.
For regular gliders, ultralight gliders and better will get the job done easily. Especially good if you're already familiar with the glider mechanics from the first game.
How do you get the Achiever 1 medal? I had 32 challenges completed, then on my last run I got the 4 and 5 combos, as well as destroying the wall, which were my last three to get. When the cutscene appreared it showed me the three challenges had been completed, but once you destroy the wall the game ends and it doesn't give you the medal.
Any ideas?
