Ice Breaker: The Gathering Walkthrough (part 1)
For level 1:
Start by cutting off the end of the flame. Now cut the ice just to the right of the bomb. When to bomb hits the rock explode it. Cut the Viking loose
For level 2
Cut the first third off the ice so that it spins the wheel.
For level 3
You need to explode the 3 bombs so that they stay on the right of the hinge. This means that you explode the top one, then the one to the left and lastly the right one. No timing is necessary.

Then, this bit requires some timing, cut loose the last bomb and the Viking at almost the same time. Viking first. You now need to explode the bomb before the Viking reaches the location of the bomb.
Level 5:
This level involves cutting loose the stones. You need to cut loose a stone and wait for the result to cascade through the switches. you will need to cut loose enough stones so that all the switches have been changed.
This is 8 stones
Then cut loose the Viking.
Level 6:
Cut loose the bombs so they land over the notched areas of the rock.(they will roll to the correct place if you are off by a bit)
Level 7:
Line the bombs up with the notches in the stone, then explode them.
Level 8:
Cut the bomb loose, explode it when it is between the two joints, make sure to leave the joint on the left intact. After the rock and wood have latched cut the ice the Viking is in free form the rock. Now cut the bird free.

Love this. Probably (as of now...) the easiest episode yet of the entire Ice Breaker series. And even without their signature "Nitromehard" ingredient, they still pull off an awesome game!
And the bombs make nice puzzles. Nice to see we can FINALLY get rid of that annoying stone that always hampered us previously.
Keep up the AWESOME work,
(And the episodes!)
-Ryan
(P.S. Nice to know this isn't a Mochicoin game. Nitrome may have to work on more dextrous handling of what to pay for...)
Well, this one is a big improvement over the last sequel. This was almost as fun as the first one, but the bomb-based puzzles almost feel like a different game.
Still, pretty fun. Too bad about the clan-based thing, at least for me, because I'll most likely forget about it before they release more puzzles. Oh well!
It's so much better than red clan :D
I even think I like it better than the original one, it's really thinking instead of just trying something (like red clan...). I think all clans have their own style, which is a fun thing in my opinion, like the elder clan does have much stone and bombs.
4400 is my highest score so far, I think that puts me first in the highscore list... but it seems like submitting doesn't work anymore. Nevermind, I think I can get 4450... but I'm not so sure about that...
Well, this game is certainly better than the last few games from Nitrome. I found those games unengaging and unoriginal, but Icebreaker: The Gathering reaffirms my faith in Nitrome. However, it is not free of my complaint with most Nitrome games: the first 90% of levels are easy and the final 10% are very hard.
Nitrome seems to be able to get over this problem, however. Some games are too easy, like Final Ninja; others, like Roly Poly, are much too hard throughout. However, a few games, such as Fat Cat and Graveyard Shift have achieved a happy balance throughout, and I do believe that Nitrome is capable of extending this trait to their other games. Some times all it takes is getting rid of or toning down a single stage or object in a level to make its difficulty optimum.
Gotta agree with GQWeasle: the game would be much more fun without having to wrestle with scrolling while trying to play. Please Nitrome, just give us a bigger viewport. Are people with 640x480 screens really such a huge market these days? I'm sitting here with a 1650x900 screen, and scrolling a tiny rectangle around to play the game. I feel like I'm wearing a paper-mache mask with a 10-degree field of view.
That being said, I played through this one and am looking forward to the next episode.
Enjoyed the level that had the latching action.
Sorry for double post :\
Btw on Level 3 in first row...
It can be beaten in 2 clicks if you time it right. First cut the right bomb and then if you are lucky you can cut the previosly top bomb before it hits ground so it will blow up the knot with out breaking the rock in two. This will make the hole rock fall and land on the edge of boat and on the rock pole to the left. The angle will make the viking slide down into the boat = Wins!
I think that I have to...
place e piece of ice with theviking into that hollow, let it go down a bit, then place another piece of ice to the top of the rock moving up. It should make the viking's stone swing back and throw him to the boat. The problem is that I can't get any rocks to that rock moving up :S
Oh, and for those of you who despise the mouse scrolling you can turn it off and use WASD or the arrows to scroll.
And yeah for the POP!
Level 11
cut the guy on the right down and cut the right end of the ice to the left of the anchor points on an angle \. As the arrow starts to rise cut the left end between the anchor points \ . This will make it like a hinge. Once the first guy is in cut the second guy loose again, as the arrow begins to rise.
I managed to
get the viking on the right to the boat by cutting the big rock into that floating rock, then when it's going to the right, I cut the viking on the right a moment before it gets under it, so it doesn't really land on it, but it gets pushed to the right into the boat. But I can't do that on the left viking, he's too far :S
I did level 16 by
first cutting all of the ice on the left off, then cutting the entire giant piece of ice that the vikings dangle from while the platform passes under the rock in the middle. Make sure you cut the big ice piece above the joints where the vikings hand from. The rock will be sitting on top of the platform, and the big horizontal piece will hold the vikings dangling out on either side of the moving platform. After that, YHTBTR.
Level 16 help:
Cut the rock free and drop it into the water. You don't need it.
When the moving cup gets under the ice at the left side, cut it where it narrows back down. This provides the platform for your vikings.
As the rock is headed back to the right, cut down the vikings. They should land on the ice platform more to the left than the right, and both need to be on the platform.
As the cup starts to move under the rocky ledge on the right, slice the platform at about a 30 degree angle from horizontal under the left viking (timing is big here). Both should then take an icy header into the boat. Slice and dice as needed.
Level 15:
I kept trying to get all the vikings down to one level and then a big dump at the end. First, drop the ice shelf. Then, get rid of the long platform at the bottom, using the moving "Viking Rock" to push it aside. After that, it works to just work your way up starting with the bottom left viking and go one at a time. Make sure to get rid of each platform as you get that viking to the longboat.
At 9:37 a.m., U.S. Eastern Standard Time, Wednesday December 23, ignore my previous post. Period. By the way, this game has much more complex (and better) music than the first two in its series. Great game! I must say, though, the "movie" that Nitrome shows to link you to it makes me unable to wait until Monday (generically) for the next clans. Well, I have to wait, no matter what. Again, great game! If they make a fourth, I hope it isn't an episodic game. Fun genre, but I like Icebreaker games to come out with the whole game at once. So much is improved, in any case. That was a lot to say!
Level 14:
First cut the ice just under the viking with a slope going from top right to bottom left. Then cut straight across just over the viking. This should cause him to drop, hit the sloped ice below him, and land on the stone platform. Then cut a large chunk of ice from above where the viking was trapped. This will drop, push down on the lever, and force the viking up and over into the boat.
whenever i got stuck (i didn't find sites with walkthroughs on it THEN, but...) i just clicked on "retry level" a few times, until a new option that reads "i'm stuck!" came on. Then i clicked it, and it tells me that it will unlock the level for me, so i don't even have to do it. Sweet!!
i know my friends call me a cheater, and some people here might too, but you guys write walkthroughs and stuff here too. anyways, i might as well add: I AM A CHEATER! ha! because i really cheat a lot. i am hopeless at puzzle games which need thinking. i cannot do with puzzles. but here's the wierd thing: i looooooooove nitrome! because, as you know, nitrome has loads of puzzle games and i still love it.
Well, i guess i am TOTALLY boring you out with my comment, if you are reading it. SORRY SORRY SORRY and a million apolagies! mm, you probably already stopped reading by this point anyway.
i don't know why i'm still typing, but i'm REALLY bored, so... but anyways, just remember my tip: (if you even started reading it) if you press "retry" a few times, and the "i'm stuck!" button shows up, click it.
last thing i'm to type:
nitrome, you are AWESOME so please keep going! and please don't forget me, i am your big fan!
22 isn't too hard, just cut a rectangle that is wider on the bottom left corner (this is for the right square) than the top right corner that isn't connected to any nail. for the left one, you need to isolate the gremlin thing so that it's only connected to the bottom right corner and swing it over.
I must say, the Raven Clan seemed easier than the first two. Unlike the Elder and First Clans, I did not have to use any spoilers. On level 22, I had a large difficulty in execution, getting the right Viking down first try, but having to reset many, many times to get down the left Viking. The first time I got the left Viking down, the right one got stuck. Much later, the second time I got the left Viking down, I finally got the right Viking down as well. Phew! It was still kind of strange, though.

I'm stuck on 39 (the before last one).
I got the left one in but the viking on the right seems quasi impossible.
For the left viking :
While I do not wish to assume your skill at placing bolts in the Hunter clan's special rock, if you have gotten to this level you must be relatively good.
Start with a low angle (say 30-40 degree) cut underneath the rock. Using momentum and spins, bolt and unbolt so as to bring the rock under the ice (and the frozen viking) at an angle pointing into the boat. It should be in the middle of the of the space between boat, sea and ice, touching none.
Now simply cut off a chunk of what's left. The block coming down should look like a pointy L.
Level 40 spoiler
Start a cut in the slot on the righthand side (1.e. at the end of the slot) - make the cut at 45 degrees downwards and to the left, so most of the lower ice drops away. Then chop the ice at the righthand pin so the ice "arm" will swing down and under the warrior (see, the first cut created a bucket for him to fall into). Drop the warrior into the arm, and on the back swing quickly cut the ice and he'll fly into the ship. Done!
This is a partial walk through of 37. it is too long. If it helps you let me know.
if you have been working on 37 for a while you know how to place the Viking on the right into the boat. do this. (cut both ropes and then pace a bolt slightly to the left in this piece of rock then one on the left so the viking lands in the boat.
now unscrew these bolts and drop the rock.
now drop the second rock form the right a bit and secure it with two bolts.
you now need to set the last rock with nothing on it at a slight angle pointing down towards the boat.
cut off the two points of ice above this rock.
Cut the ice at the top of the screen off so it forms a bridge from the angled rock to the boat.
level 20
This is an image that has cut numbers on it for level 20. the end result will be the ice rotating around the top hinge.
for cut 5 you really may only need one cut in that area.

Ice Breaker: The Gathering Walkthrough
Part 2 (First Clan)
Level 9
Cut off the top part of the ice on the left when the hand is all the way at the bottom. It should come back up and push the wood up so that the viking falls into the boat.
Level 10
Cut off one of the spokes off the ice so it is pushed up and tips the right viking into the boat. As soon as this happens, cut off the next spoke. The pieces of ice should align end-to-end, so they turn the cross on the right further and send the next viking into the boat.
Level 11
Make a cut sloping down diagonally between the two leftmost gray dots. Make a similar cut to the left of the two right dots. Cut off the left viking when the ice is all the way down, then cut off the right viking when the ice is just even with the boat.
Level 12
Make a cut so the frozen viking on the lower right slides into the boat. Then cut the two ropes so the unfrozen viking falls in. Cut off the upper right frozen viking, then make a sloping cut going down right under the remaining viking. Then make a sloping up right cut so it slides into the boat.
Level 13
Make a cut so that the left viking falls into the tray just as it is passing under. Then make a cut so the right viking slides in as the tray is coming up. This may take several tries to get right. Finally, cut the tray open as it is passing over the boat.
Level 14
Cut all the ice out from under the viking. Cut the viking off, leaving plenty of ice above the viking. Hopefully it should end up on the platform. Then cut all the rest of the ice off so the viking is lifted up. Make a sloping cut in the ice you saved so the viking slides into the boat.
Level 15
Cut off the lowermost piece of rock so that it slides into the sea without disturbing the vikings too much. Then cut the ice out from under the moving rock. When the moving rock is on its way to the left, cut the left rope off the rock holding the bottom right viking. Then cut the other rope so that the rock swings into the sea. Do the same for the lower left viking, except do it as the moving rock is on its way to the right and cut the right rope first. Then, when the moving rock is on its way to the left, cut the right rope on the middle rock piece, which may be holding two vikings by now. Cut the other rope so that it swings into the sea. Finally, cut the left rope on the top right viking so it falls into the boat. If necessary, cut the right rope holding the top left viking.
Level 16
First, cut all the ice on the left off. Then cut off the entire piece of ice in the middle, which holds both vikings, as the moving rock passes under the hanging rock. Cut the vikings off as they pass over the boat.
