Cube Core is an attractive point-and-click, room escape game that recently made the rounds. It's not a very long game and it is quite logical to solve, though in at least one part you will have to be extra observant to catch a clue or you will be looking for a walkthrough quicker than you can say "Area 51".

Ha, this sure is an interesting game. Right now, I'm stuck at

Pipe Maze.

I've placed the

Mog-Rat

into one of the parts, but it still says something is missing.

Reply

I can't find the #'s to unlock the small door? any help appreciated

Reply

Kathy

Have you checked behind the cushion on the couch?

Mikey

Did you notice the line behind the couch?

Reply

For the rat maze...

You need to use ALL the pieces of tube to get the rat to the end

You also need another component which fits in the slot to the bottom right

Reply

the 4 digit number is:

turn left 2 times while you are big and look under the pillow, after turning on the lamp light.

Reply

Kathy, If youre reffering to the nubmers for the door in the right passage in the cube, look at the armchar after moving the cushion to the side, exposing the arm, while the lights are on.

Reply

Erf, Now I'm stuck... the right hand room inn the red box... whatzit for? (Have the knife from the safe, stuck with three boxes on left)

Reply

Ive done

everything in the first three rooms, go the genetic code, done the maze, got the womp rat, and in the forth room Ive got a knife. All three rooms are lit up (I have the powered up power core), but I have no Idea where to go from here :(

Can anybody help?

Reply

Jordan

You can enter more than one number into the combo lock. There is another code hidden somewhere

Reply

jordan

You need another four digit number for the machine that gave you the knife. Look around in the small rooms. It's written in green.

Still need help?

Look at the rat maze

Reply

I agree with sloth, good game, but annoying you can't turn off the music. Was listening to my own playlist at the time, so made things particularly irritating!

Reply

Finished needing only the hint from the walkthrough about

looking behind the couch (although I knew that I had to slice something on the couch with the knife, I didn't know where to slice).

Great game. I loved the pipe puzzle part.

There is a walkthrough for Sphere Core here.
A work of warning though, it is very spoilerish - not the place to go if you just want a hint!

Reply

Ah, Looking Behind Things: the simple yet nasty shtick that's crippled so many room-escapers.

Reply

Point and Click Room Escapes are my favorites. I almost got this all by myself and most of it was logical, which some of these games are not, however,...

I would never have been able to figure out the pipe code without help because it looked like 515

That seemed to stretch the logic for me. Too bad because up till that point I thought it was great.

Reply

I wish we could take the mog-rat with us! It's so cute!

Reply

Not bad, but not too good either. I like how short and peculiar it feels. Still I didn't enjoy it THAT much. I'll put my usual nagging in the spoiler box, just in case.

1. The couch. Man, I hate when these games include an arbitrary hot spot which, when clicked, suddenly shift perspective so I can do what I actually wanted to do. I have a knife, I want to cut that armchair in pieces, but I cannot until I click at the spot approximately 2 inches right of the chair. What? Silly, unintuitive and unnecessary.
2. The rat-maze code. OK, perhaps you find this clever, I find it gimmicky and illogical.
3. For some reason the game didn't let me do the correct thing in the end, i.e. put the core in the cube. I had opened and closed the iris like an idiot the core didn't want to go in. I give up, wander around more a little bit, try to find some more obscure 4-number combos (like, I dunno, the number of bricks times the number of arrows) and finally read the walkthrough to realize I have been trying the correct thing all along. VERY frustrating.

There. All in all a nice game, but nothing spectacular. Also, what happened with the embrio and the rat? Someone'd better feed them while I'm walking around in that light...

i do all the steps up until getting the key

and when i put the key in the door, there is a wall behind the door
and it says

"A solid brick wall, no exit here"

is there a hidden door or something?

oh okay i've got it now,

damn i feel stupid

There is a bug:

If you know the code numbers that give you the knife and the remote control, you can bypass most of the puzzles, because the cube doesn't care whether you've charged the power cell.
Specific steps:

Shrink yourself and enter the cube. Go into the right-hand room and enter code 9431 on the panel. Push the button. Get the knife. Push the button again. Enter code 6287. Push the button. Get the remote. (The walls will turn green at this point, even though you haven't touched the valves.) Leave the cube and return to full size. Use the knife to get the power cell from the back of the couch. Face the cube, press button 1 on the remote, put the (uncharged!) power cell in the top of the cube. Press button 1 and then button 2. Take the key, unlock the door, and you're done.

Anyone got any further?

Fun, not too hard game. However, the second code was kind of a stretch.

how the heck can you get 5151 out of the pipes?? they don't make the second "1"

Otherwise great.

Reply

bioLarzen:

The power gauge on the right side of the maze forms the second 1.

Reply

I almost had it... just that second code foiled me. And I'm usually useless at these things, so it was nice to have one that was logical (except for aforementioned wtf?ness). Good stuff.

(Thanks to Peter Hosey, without that spoiler I'd have been really frustrated!)

In Sphere Core, is there any purpose for the big screw in the middle other than

to remove the panel? Even though I got it loose by using the screwdriver on the four little screws, every time I use the screwdriver on the big screw it replays the panel-dropping-to-the-floor animation.

And any hints on what to do with

the other two square chips?

i put the power core in the bottom right hole but when i press the green button it doesnt do anything

On Sphere Core, how do you get the screwdriver to work on the plate?

I see four screws in the corners. I've tried hovering, clicking, pushing, scraping, etc. all four of them. I've done it with the screw in the middle of the floor in every position.

Nothing seems to work. Help please. What am I missing or doing wrong?

You still need a power core

Reply
Anonymous May 3, 2009 5:59 PM

It won't take the charged power core in the top of the box.
Why?

Reply

I'm missing something. Entering the correct percentages, a seemingly super simple step, hasn't resulted in animating the rat for me. My power core is locked in, so I assume I need the rat to power it up, so I can remove it and carry on. Arrrg!!

Reply

I thought I had tried enough variations on the percentages. I must have missed one. I did 50, 20, 30 from left to right, and that worked. I was expecting the dead rat to animate, but it doesn't. You get a new rat. I took the live rat, powered up my locked-in power core and the rest was easy.

It was another fine little time passer. I'd enjoy these more if they were logical. That's a quibble when the games are free. And there are always walk-throughs. And, in fact, Resorting to walk-throughs gives me the opportunity to socialize, sort of, since I enjoy reading the comments of others.
