Something awfully scientific goes awfully wrong, according to the opening sequence. Scientists, explosion... you get the idea. Then we are in the head of our hero, who upon speaking to the first two-dimensional character wiggling against a wall, learn that they are the only hope in a world thrown into dimensional disarray.

I really enjoyed this game, and it was the first unity game that didn't crash my browser! I did get stuck however after I

put the bags together

on the train. I could still look around, but I couldn't move. I'm not sure if that was a glitch or a puzzle, but it prevented me from going any further.

It doesn't seem to matter what browser I'm on, this game doesn't like me, and I've played unity games before. But I can't even get past the title page. Any help for mac users?

I'm having the same problem as Arcan... and Francis's advice is useless because

I can't get into the main cockpit because I can't move!

Reply

For me, the mouse is way too sensitive so I keep staring at the ceiling or the floor. Shame :(

This was pretty interesting! But I'm not sure I've finished the right way or.. some weird shortcut. I'm guessing the second.

while in the train, the guy told me about some luggage of a scientist. I didn't really know what to do, but found a sign for a machines wagon of some sort! ok, as I got there and started analyzing all the weird things on the wall I FELL on some hole! kept falling .. there were some infinite buildings around me so I 'floated' to one of them.. there was a window leading to the inner building that I climbed only to start falling again.. then there were credits. I am very confused.

The game must not like macs; I'm having the same problem as Littleghost.

Reply

It runs fine on my Mac.

Are you following the instructions printed below the game window?

Reply

I have a mac too and the game doesn't work as well, sob.

Reply

Trying to play it in Chrome on a PC, getting a message that no plug-in is available to make the game run.

Boo. :[

Reply

@An Onyx Mouse: have you tried installing the Unity Player? It's a Unity game that requires the Unity Player plug-in (a link to the plug-in can be found in the title header of this review).

I just tried installing it on my Windows 7 partition of my Mac Book Pro, and I'm now running the game in Chrome without issue.

I loved the game even if it seemed it ended bad (what can you say it's a college project by french students), it seemed great with the illusion of warping space. If you get stuck, press R to respawn, I did this when I moved the door from the train wagons because when you go through one door and there is no door on the other side of the wagon you get stuck into a wall, wonder if that is what is happening to you guys. I thought it's a great game. 5/5

LoL
According to James Francis's walkthrough, what I thought was a buggy shortcut was actually the right way. I still don't get it, though.

Firefox 4 on Mac OS X. When I click on the game window, instead of the mouse cursor disappearing, the game window loses focus.

By frantically clicking and pressing enter, I can eventually pass the title screen and intro, but the game proper doesn't take focus either.

Well, after figuring out the same problem a lot of other people were having (the not-intuitive instructions hidden below the load window) I was pretty quickly enchanted with the mechanic and play. The puzzles weren't too hard, but not too easy, and I was all set to give this a 5 stars. But I had the same problem as Arcan. Too many glitches. Otherwise an excellent game.

Reply

The game's main menu is keyboard controlled. When a game doesn't respond to my mouse clicks, I assume keyboard control and act accordingly.

Anyways, I'm not having any issues with the game losing focus on Firefox 4 Mac OS X. Sounds like you may have a browser extension conflict, Ezra.

Wow that's a cool concept.
The puzzles and glitches need some serious ironing out, but the atmosphere is amazing, and I absolutely love the gameplay. Loved the visual style of it all, as well!
Being a scientist by trade, games which liberally throw actual science out the window while invoking its name tend to make my head hurt, but this was so cool, I didn't care in the slightest.
On that note, I loved the train conductor who happened to have very deep knowledge of theoretical physics. Awesome.
It kinda gives off the same sorta vibe as FRACT (albeit in a less refined manner). I would love it if the devs behind that teamed up with team antimatiere for a project. The resultant amazingness may just be too much for me :0

on another note, I would have LOVED it if they made puzzling use of the fact that the world is infinitely iterated - like on the tree, it would be awesome if you had to look at the other side of the tree you're on in order to really solve the puzzle.

Reply

I enjoyed it, but likewise could not move after solving the baggage puzzle on the train.

Something I noticed

On level 5, there's a closed hatch below one of the paths that go around the tower. I've tried to use the stairs to get to it, but it seems just barely out of reach

Utterly AWESOME. Congratulations on a brilliant game! (imho)

Oh and for anyone who likes this kind of thing I'd recommend Brendan Chung's Gravity Bone which is just as awesome in it's oddness.

I don't think I can paste links but if I can then...

Exactly what happens to me. I used to be able to play unity games on my computer, so I pretty much think I should be able to play this - but no. The unity loading screen comes up and that's fow far I get :( Firefox, IE, all the same.

Same bug as some other folks. Putting the luggage chests together makes it so you cannot walk anymore, which renders finishing the train level impossible sadly.

Reply

Thanks to James Francis for the luggage puzzle workaround.
Avoid the luggage entirely to avoid the luggage glitch
(Too bad the ID tags on the scientist's bags weren't visible; they would've revealed that the scientists also invented the PC's BlueScreen Of Death, the X-boxes RedCircle of Death, and that sad bit of magic smoke that escapes from a irreparably over-clocked graphics card)

Fascinating, this game really tries something new. I too have glitch issues but would love to see a more polished version so I could finish the game. Thanks for sharing this game, I really like the concept!

As a workaround for my bug, I used Chrome.

The game was neat, but it was very laggy and the ending confused me.

In the last level, has anyone been able to...

...assemble the stairs to reach that other portal way up above the "washing machine" door? I've been able to get within two squares of it by grabbing a stairwell, going back down until I'm on the ledge above the level with the washing machine, and then leaning around the corner to place it. I've got all four sets of stairs to play with, but I can't place the last couple to reach the portal.

and now I cannot move. D: Utinyyyyyy. Why do you do thisssss.

Ok, just clicked "replay levels" and played the last one. The ending, in a word, was bizare. I didn't understand it at all. I'm sure there's some sort of deep meaning to it. But the gameplay mechanic was beautiful, if not a bit buggy, and I hope to see more of it in the future! I sort of wish this game had built on the creepy feeling that it gives you when you find out the world is now 2D...I would have liked more levels!

Another Mac user with problems...just clicking the link crashes my browser (Chrome)... :(

Such a cool game with an amazingly cool concept. *.* I would love to see more... really the only big issue with it is the glitchiness, as I can't seem to put the luggage together without being stuck and having to respawn (hold R).

Reply
zbeeblebrox March 29, 2011 3:25 AM

Lot of bugs, but I enjoyed what I could play. Reminded me a lot of that super weird Unity game where you kept switching between positive and negative space...but slightly less headache inducing :p

The ending made no sense, but it's an awesome proof of concept, and the art design was great.

Interestingly enough,

Respawning seemed to not only get me out of the luggage glitch, but continue on as normal.
