ArtbegottiColor Pic-a-Pix LightNeed a dash of rainbow splashed across your logic puzzles? Conceptis delivers a cacophony of colorful curiosities with Color Pic-a-Pix Light, the latest addition in their Conceptis Light series. You might be familiar with Pic-a-Pix puzzles from their previous selection, or perhaps you've tried Picross puzzles elsewhere. This new batch adds the twist of color, meaning the logic gets more twisted, and the solutions more dazzling!

If you're familiar with black-and-white Pic-a-Pix puzzles, you know the goal of each puzzle is to form a picture within the grid, using the numbers along the left and top of the grid as clues. The numbers tell you how many consecutive filled blocks appear along that row/column, with at least one space in between each string. However, unlike strictly black-and-white puzzles, color Pic-a-Pix puzzles add one tweak to this rule. While there still has to be one empty space between consecutive strings of the same color, there doesn't have to be a space between consecutive strings of different colors. Thus, a string of four red blocks can bump up against a string of two blue blocks if need be. By combining the horizontal and vertical clues to deduce where colored blocks must go, you can produce a picture that indicates you've solved the puzzle.

This puzzle pack comes with thirty puzzles, ten each of three different sizes. Perhaps surprisingly, this puzzle pack holds a very broad range of difficulties, ranging from solvable in twenty seconds (like the smaller 5x5 puzzles) to fifteen minutes (the larger 15x15 puzzles... although I must concede it's possible that I'm just a slow solver in some instances). Whatever your level of expertise, Conceptis once again brings a handful of puzzles perfect for familiarizing yourself or re-embracing the world of color Pic-a-Pix.

Just as a (predictable) warning - very colour-blind unfriendly, with lots of green and red with extremely similar luminosity.

And sometimes the colors don't make sense. Such as 5x5, number 6.

A music note. With each part a different color. No one in their right mind would make something the horrible looking.

It seems they just added color as a gimmick, and there are other ones that do this kind of puzzle much better. Reviewed on this site, no less.

It would have helped tremendously if I could click on the number and have it swap to that color, instead of some weird toggle thing. additionally, a seperate 'color' choice for just blocking out where no color goes.

@ Kgummy: You can also switch between the colors with the number keys, the leftmost color starting at 1, counting up to the right.

Kyh, I know that. I meant that as a way to solve the issue of colorblindness. It was nearly impossible on some of them to figure out which shade the puzzle wants in places.

Too un-challenging to be more than a little time-waster. Conceptis can do a lot better!

@KGummy: If you take any colour and click a square twice, you get a little grey dot in the middle of the square to remind you where no colours go.

Kind of annoying, but yeah.

I used to love the Pic-a-pix puzzles, but now I think I like the Link-a-pix more.

The Lovatts variety puzzler book used to have a few black and white pic-a-pix puzzles. Not any more as far as I can tell :(

It's tricky when you accidentally click something incorrectly and go around thinking you have it solved pretty good until you get to a spot that doesn't make any sense and sometimes you just have to start over. It happened a couple of times in the bigger puzzles but the 5x5's were super fast to get through. I probably did all the 5 ones in the time it took to do one 10 one. It wasn't that way with 10 vs 15, but some of those 15's did take some doing.

I wonder how insane a 100x100 puzzle would be! :-D

Not quite 100×100, but:

If you want large puzzles, check out the "multigriddler" section. They're multi-part images, and each part can be up to 50×50. (Personally, I don't much like them, but to each his own.)
