Already proven how much you wanna be the guy? Do you laugh in the face of Lost Levels? Can you finish the speeder-segment of Battletoads with your eyes closed and a broken controller? Then you just might be the target audience for Noxious Hamster's new high difficulty platformer, Spikes Tend To Kill You 2. As in the original, you must guide a slippery smoking square thingy through a 31 level gauntlet of merciless challenges, with but a single hit standing between you and life-losing. Make no mistake, though. The challenge, while brutal, is largely fair, even if that just means you'll be cursing at yourself as much as the game. Clever level design and humorous dialogue help the player stay engaged, even during the 500th impalement. All in all, Spikes Tend To Kill You 2 should tend to keep the slightly-masochistic players among us battling right up to the game's glorious finale.
That was excellent, really excellent. Hilariously difficult in some parts, but always achievable.
Only qualm would be the random-slight-slowdown that would occur, but I imagine that's probably entirely on my end, and that there had to be a brief pause after every death. Kinda just wanted to crack straight back on most of the time, haha.
Why no mention of how many levels in the write up? How many are there?
There are 31 stages, or, rather, 30, with an ending stage as 31.
Thinking of rage quitting on 25, Depression.
Somehow i still keep on playing.Chances of ragequit?Pretty high.
So annoyingly hard but so annoyingly addictive. After 63 minutes I'm thinking on quitting on level 29... so sad :(
FINALLY beat it, after 68 minutes, 10 seconds, and 831 deaths.
I was tearing my hair out by the end. Still worth it.
Is there a way to actually do hells mouth? This seems impossible!
Hell's Mouth does look impossible, but it's doable. I tried to time it right for the first few tries, and that got me nowhere. In the end, it's better to just run for your life and hope for the best (preferably while doing some random squeaky noises and waving around your free arm).
For a game supposedly without a story, the ending screen was pretty awesome :)
Interestingly enough, it's not the spikes that I had the most trouble with.
Is there actually a way to do level 12? It seems impossible. You can't jump high enough to go over the first upwards spike, and you can't run fast enough to slide between the two sideways ones. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!
@s.co:
You cannot jump over the spike, correct, but you can run for more than you'd expect onto the horizontal one coming off of your platform and then jump, aiming to hit the roof of the next tile.
This picture probably doesn't help, but vaguely illustrates what I mean:

Hell's mouth was hard enough. Hell's stomach, HOW???
For Hells stomach you need to
go over the top in the middle section, don't take the lower part.
Hells stomach (19) lower path is possible too though.
When jumping up from lowest floor you must land 2 steps up (not 1) next jump must be same.. then 1 last jump to safety. But it takes a couple of retries.
Ashamed to admit that I'm stuck on level 7. I'm TRYING to "be clever," but failing, failing, failing.
I have made it, once, across the yellow guns. But I have not figured out how to jump up to the exit!
God, I love the power of posting.
Also wanted to say that I love how tight the controls are on this game. Precision jumping? Piece of cake!
ARGH!! Got to the end and died.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Found a safe spot.
JOY!!!!!!!!! I did it.
Alright, I hope the author(s) of the game are listening because I'm about to reveal how to reduce the amount of ragequitting by 2000%.
Allow the levels to be played in Practice Mode where everytime you die, you reappear at the last place you've been idle. Finishing a level in Practice Mode does not unlock the next level.
You're welcome.
Is there a trick to level 14 (The Bridge) or am I just missing something?
Heh, difficulty kinda ramps up after Hell. :)
I like the game. Hard, but not TOO hard. Somewhere in between Super Meat Boy and I Wanna Be The Guy.
Forgot to add... the only reason I gave this game a 4 instead of 5 is that small but noticeable pause between touching an obstacle and dying. Death should be instant in these kind of games. With this pause your brain is constantly "stuttering" because it is checking whether you are still alive or not which disrupts the flow in an incredibly frustrating fashion.
OH MY GOSH. I may have died two hundred times already on level sixteen. Talk about needing Precision! And I'm still not done with it. I know it's very straightforward, but any tips on how to make it a little easier on me? Thanks.
Finally just quit on level sixteen. Too bad. Would have LOVED to see the other levels. Now I'm sad.
