Yeehaw! Rustlers are after your bulls! That's like the Wild West version of someone trying to steal your Camaro! In Long Way, a new western tower defense game from Meetreen Games, your job is to get together a posse and show those rustlers what happens to dirty snakes who break the law of the West.
Like most tower defense games, the enemies come in through one end of a maze while your bulls are at the other end. The bad guys are after your bulls, and if you lose too many the game is over. Place your posse on the canyon walls above the rustlers and fill 'em full of lead! You start with nothing but the standard pistol-packin' cowpoke, but after each map you'll earn some gold and experience. Use the gold to hire new cowboys with different weapons and skills, such as shotgun-wielding bandits, dynamite-lobbing gentlemen and even a Native American or two. You can also buy gear which gives bonuses to your entire posse or replace lost bulls. Experience allows you to level up and buy new skills for your posse; you'll need 'em to deal with some of the more low-down and dirty rustlers!
Long Way blends classic Tower Defense gameplay with a great upgrade system that adds a lot of longevity. You can develop your posse in a variety of ways, so even though the game can be fairly difficult there are several paths to success. Trying different strategies goes a long way toward keeping the game fresh. Long story short, hunker on down with some vittles and hit the ol' dusty trail!
It would be nice if it would tell you that when you reset skill points, it takes the spent ones away. Forever
The program loaded here seems to have a glitch on Level 15. I only get two waves. The first wave is a 43hp Bandit and the second wave is two bosses; a 2336hp Kapral and 1636hp Shaman. I've tried reloading the game several times but it's the same situation. I hate to go to another site since my first 14 three-gold-star efforts will be lost. :(
I had the same level 15 glitch, with 2 waves. Can't win, but I don't want to have to replay the whole game elsewhere just to beat the last level.
Any get 3 stars perfect on the last level (15)?
By buying more than 10 bulls I was able to finish Level 15 (each boss takes 5 bulls) but it was still only 2 levels instead of the 45 showing on the YouTube Lvl 15 posting.
OK, so , wait - this is weird. On MINE, I only have 2 waves (the first and the last) I think. The first has one easy guy and the last has 2 bosses. It's no problem to win, I just can't get 3 stars. I did get 3 stars and finished all the quests. I wonder if that's why...
Nice game, I played it through. If the dev is reading this, a couple of comments:
The fast play button isn't fast enough. It still takes 15-20 minutes to finish the last levels, even on fast.
Also, would have been nice to have a way to increase the dollar intake. I never felt like I was ahead of the game except to go back and replay levels.
Other than that, I liked the graphics, music was nice, gameplay good as well.
Also, I forgot to add.
The timing of the defenders to the mobs is not proportionate between fast mode and regular mode. Levels that I was struggling with because the mobs came too fast I just played in regular speed and didn't have a problem at all. If I played them again in fast speed, the mobs would get by.
I do not understand how to play this game. There are NO REAL instructions. I selected my cowboy "Johnny) and placed him on the "map", but I can't control him. The bandits are just walking by him and taking the bulls! How do I play? What are the controls?
What a terribly designed game. The bosses are way overpowered, and if you lose cattle you lose them permanently? This game is just bad.
What!? I think it's a brilliant game. Bit of a challenge!
Same here with level 15. By the way there is a bug with Chuck's skills. Try upgrading the fear and on 5th level rise the frenzy. The result is 4th level fear + 4th level frenzy :) Have fun!
