Everyone who's ever delivered pizza for a living is a part of a kind of shared experience. Only we who have pushed pies from pizzeria to private residences can fully grasp the apprehension of filling a gas tank with tip money while half a dozen pizzas cool in the back seat. Only we know the frustration of watching someone whip out a wad of cash only to count out exact change, or the terror felt when the illuminated pizzeria sign mounted atop our cars calls out like a beacon saying, "please rob me," in the worst neighborhoods. And now, thanks to Pixeljam for [adult swim], we can relive those moments in the new driving game/pizza delivery sim, Pizza City.
As a delivery driver, you will pick up the pizzas from Tony's and shuttle them to their many different destinations around town designated by green oval markers on the ground. The [arrow] keys are used to steer, the [space] bar will bring up your inventory and end conversations, and the [X] key activates the emergency brake. You'll have to be quick about it, as customers will only wait so long before they start to get angry. At the same time, you'll want to practice caution, as hitting other objects will damage the pizzas, lowering your tip and reducing your job security. Hitting most pedestrians will lower your score and could put the cops on your trail. If you let too many arrests or poor deliveries eat away at your job security, you're as good as fired.
Pizza City has so much in common with the first two Grand Theft Auto games, it seems to fall somewhere between spoof and demake. Like the notorious crime sims from Rockstar Games, you roam a city with virtual free reign in your car via a bird's eye view. There is a main goal (delivering pizzas and working your way up the pizzeria career ladder), but there are also plenty of other side quests to undertake, such as returning a teddy bear to a girl or finding bling for a gentleman of ill repute, should you need a break from your prime objective. But it's the risqué overtones buried throughout the game and the frantic cop car chases that really send one on GTA flashbacks.
True to Pixeljam's trademarks as established in Dino Run and Gamma Bros., Pizza City is resplendent in big blocky pixels and chiptune-like music. The controls can seem awkward at first, almost like you're driving a bumper car on ice, but also like Pixeljam's earlier efforts, once you get the feel for the game the control scheme becomes natural and comfortable. Pizza City isn't for everyone and the relatively simple gameplay may turn some off, but there's more depth lurking here than meets the eye and it definitely rewards those who choose to stick with it.
I'm not sure why, but none of the games on the Adult Swim website are showing up for me... Possibly because of the Flashblock extension in Firefox. *shrugs* To Safari!
Well, let's see. This is a Flash game, and so... yes, brilliant deduction!
Flashblock blocks Flash. (For future reference.) ;)
I like this game. It's a bunch of goofy fun on the outside, with enough gooey innards that I feel like I can revisit the game later when I have a good chunk of time later. Plus I just like delivering pizzas to cats.
On a side-note, I was wondering if anyone remembered the name of the pizza delivery game back on the OS6 or OS7 where you had to deliver pizzas by van without colliding with other cars? Very similar to this one, my nostalgia is kicked into high gear from this game.
Strangely enough, I liked this game. And it does resembles the first GTA a little (which is the only one I played).
I found the purse
behind a gold statue on the upper-right corner of the map
and need to find the ring now - it might be nice for someone to compile a list of item locations.
I saw the comercial for this game on friday, and I decided to play it on sunday, as soon as I saw it was made by Pixeljam, I was hooked.
And for those who think delivering pizzas gets boring, Pixeljam always has a few "suprises" in store ;).
I haven't gotten to deliver pizzas to a cat yet, but the duck has ordered a couple times. Fun game!
When the cops are after you, is it possible to evade them? (I mean assuming I was better at in-game driving. :)
LSK~
You get the ring by
giving the girl at MonsterCorp the lollipop and then the clock to the cheerleader at cashola
chipmunk~ If you avoid them for long enough they stop chasing you (you can tell when it says "Nice Gettaway...), which means you don't pay $100 or have your Job Security go down.
Does the time actually matter? I wasn't sure, I only got to play for five minutes earlier today. I felt like I needed to hurry to deliver pizzas, but is there any reason?
gmpilot~ I really haven't noticed anything to do with time, a pizza's condition only decresses with damage. Once however, I noticed that the dots showing the color changed from green to yellow, and I didn't bump into anything at the time.
It takes a while, but the pizza status will degrade with time.
Also, don't run over Mr. Hotdog. It's a pretty hefty point penalty =(
I found Santa Claus!
He lives dumpsters east of the mall in the SE corner of town.
This game is awesome, and so is Pixeljam.
I found that hitting
Clowns and Robbers
got me points! Yay killing people!!
This is a very fun game!!! :-D
Oops, don't forget the
Mimes
My homicidal tendencies are being limited in this game! The cops are sooo picky. There are 6.6 billion people on the earth, can't they spare a few? *pout*
i was driving around monstercorp, exploring the edges of the map, when i bumped into the boundary and cross over. i drove around for a while outside the map until the game froze.
:!
It seems that, as I switch cars, the cars' stats are getting mixed up. For instance, the pizza capacity displayed at the bottom of the screen after getting into a car does not always match the stats diplayed before getting into the car, and if I switch cars some more, the same car can end up having a different capacity again.
In addition to that, and perhaps related, Sal tells me I've already bought what's being displayed as the most expensive car, when I never actually paid for it.
there seem to be a few little goofs that need addressing. this is inevitable when lots of people start playing the game. we're going to make a new version of the game later this week. thanks for the heads up everybody!
Map with the location of all items:
https://jayisgames.com/images/hs_pam_pizzacity_map.jpg
Passwords I've found:
copsnrobbers - Turns all pedestrians into robbers, and all cars, including your own, into cop cars
bouncytown - causes everything to bounce more on impact.
crazydrivers - Obviously relates to crazy driving, though I didn't really notice.
toomuchcoffee - not too sure about this one, either. I think it relates to the speed of other cars and pedestrians.
here's a list of where the items go i wrote them down to help me remember but i didn't write down where i found them so sorry bout that maybe i will later
lolipop- lower left corner as far as u can go into the factory
8 pounds of gold- to the man in the trench coat in the empty lot at the top right
hand drums- up at the top left there's a park and if u go deep in u'll find a hippie
old record- at the top right there's six equal sized squares the bottom right one is a head shop and thats where u need to drop off the record
teddy bear- at the bottom left close by the factory there is a coldesack and on the right of it there's a house with a girl in it and she wants it
watch- the hospital on the top right
wallet- there's a bar on the very right edge on the top island around the middle next to it is a hobo who wants it
goblet- see that really big house on the bottom island on the right yea right there
boots- close to the big house on the bottom island there's 2 smaller houses like right under it and the one on the left is where u should take the boots hope that helps
need some money?
the two buildings under the area on the top island with the holes every where [really easy to spot on the big map] if u drive behind them where u cant see you'll rack up about 100 bucks or so =]
Good luck... and remember... we're all counting on you
I glitched out of the game.... I was under police chase when I hit a nitro and a cop (while I was bursting) rams me through the wall. I was able to drive everywhere but the map, and before I ran out of gas on the right side of the map was a line full of robbers and as soon as i hit the last one the game froze. I could not save but I could pull up my spacebar and hit the map. The restart button did not work either...
Anybody know?
I have all the Items, the 5000 dollar car, and the cop car.. and I got married... and im lord of the pizzas with 500k pts... anyways it was a fun game.. but I already did everything =(
How do I save the game?
I think I've done all I can in Pizza City, but there's a park in Cashola that has a goblet and some gold bricks in it surrounded by a fence. Is this something I need think about??
crr147: You save the game by pressing the S key while at the pizza place.
Fleebnork: Thanks for the map of items! By the way, I just noticed that location 16 is mislabeled as 14 on the map.
Baxter102: I noticed that park too. Later I drove by the park again after finding a gold brick elsewhere, and the brick within the park was gone. So I think it's safe to ignore that park.
You can evade the police by obtaining a nitro boost. Then, "nice getaway" will pop up.
I found a glitch! First, enable the password "bouncytown". Then go to the enclosure in throbbin' cafe and BOOUUNCE!!! If you're lucky you'll teleport somwhere far.
This game is so much fun. I'm driving around in a pink Corvette that I convinced Sal to sell me by feeding him a "magic" brownie and I'm on the run from the cops for being a maniac! Now off to propose to my girlfriend at the doughnut shop..
lawl:
theres some mr hotdog. when you ride over him:
You hit Mr Hotdog! Penalty: 2000Ptns
thats alot.
The enclosed park is a teaser -- it shows items that you need, but you can't get to them. All the items in the park are actually available elsewhere.
If you kill Mr. Hotdog its says you killed Mr. Hotdog, get em boys. But its really hard to do. Also i didn't get Sal a brownie and he still sold me that car after I bought the bummer.
here is another password that will help you make a lot of money
clownXplosion
They're EVERYWHERE and you get a lot of points for them.
is there anything to do in pizza city other than delivering pizza? if so how???
Another glitch. When I got to about 180 pizzas I went back to Tony's and it said I did 500 and I was a pizza lord, but I only had like 200 at the time, so I couldn't get any higher and the only thing I could do was the side story and maybe one or two pizzas for some money.
Did you notice that hitting Sal makes a sign say
Sal is INDESTRUCTABLE
toomuchcoffee gives the people mega caffene rushes that make them run at about the same speed as the cop cars. thanks for the map, it really helped
i glitched out big time. in a police chase with the roadie, i crashed into a mime and wall and suddenly found myself driving a police car.
Do the cops n' robbers cheat, and when you're running out of gas, go to Sal's car place and switch - you get more gas.
I need a map to show me where the items are.
is there any way to make your security go back up?
There is another bonus...
the vigilante mode- kill so many robbers
The anti-clown league awarded me $50.
It's an addicting game, I played it for so long xD
i beat the whole game. i did all the favors, i got all the cars, even the cop car!
You trade a donut for it.
and my rank is lord of deliveries!
i need a map with the locations of all the places of Map Split (:p i dont talk much english)
where can i find the drums???
how do you ENTER the cheat passwords???
you find the drums
on the left side of the retirement home which is on the right-bottom side of the map.
The easiest way to make your job security go up is to
have your rank moved up by selling pizzas.
Selling pizza to dogs, ducks, and cats, giving lollipops to evil men's daughters, and being married to the blonde at the doughnut shop.
does anyone know how to find the ring ive worked on it for over a week literaly and i still cant find it please tell me where to get it please please please
a really wierd glitch happened
i was on copsnrobbers and bouncytown, and i had just given a donut to the police man and droven out of the police parking lot when suddenly i went flying across to the other side of town
ok, so i was driving through Yippie with a bunch of pizzas in my car, minding my own business, when suddenly a huge group of cop cars come barreling into my sweet hummer at full speed. the screen shook as though there had been a major earthquake, and signs popped out, saying that all my pizzas had been ruined completely.
what the heck had just happened?
@k6ka: HUMMERS are like... strong. so dont worry about it... the bruises will go off soon
where does the feather go, and where is the gold brick found? I got it before, but i keep forgetting
where's the gold brick???
I know how to avoid the cops:
you just drive until the arrows disappear.go onto the bridges or hide in the trees up in the top left corner in the top part of Pizza City.police wont get you there.else you can just speed around and lose the cops...
how d'you enter passwords?
What happens after you get the cop car?
