East of the Web word games
Just found this excellent collection of word games created in Flash and published by East of the Web. There are currently eight (8) different games to choose from, and each one offers a unique gameplay experience than usual games in its category.
CodeWord blends components of guess-the-word games like Hangman with that of Mastermind to create a challenging and fun new game. The game presents you with spaces to guess a 5-letter word, which you enter by clicking on a square and then click on a letter along the left side of the game board. Once you have entered a word, press "SUBMIT" to get clues about your guess.
The clues you receive will be either light or dark filled circles and represent the same type of information as you receive when playing games like Mastermind. Light filled circles mean that you have guessed a correct letter, but it's in the wrong position. Dark filled circles mean you have guessed a correct letter and it's in the correct position. You have 10 chances to guess the correct word. Click.
If you are fond of games like WEBoggle, Jumble, and even Mastermind, then you will likely enjoy playing these excellent word games, too.
excellent and challenging game. it's like Lingo on the Game Show Network, only harder. = )
it would have been better though if you could type your words as opposed to clicking the letters each time.
I agree with that, Brandon. I found the interface a bit inconvenient, but a small complaint to an otherwise excellent game.
Oh man, I totally destroyed this game. Top scores of 2:11 and 3:10 are both mine. I just played it more like mastermind, and didn't even bother trying real words until I had 4 or 5 letters figured out.
Has anyone else noticed inconsistencies with the game?
on my first guess I have a right letter in the right place. second guess the same letter, same place is right letter wrong place.
I've also had letters that used to be right letters in the wrong places stop showing up as right letters a couple of guesses later. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing or not.
sunshine, I dont know if that helps, but when I played it I thought it shows actually which letter is at correct place. I was wrong of course, what the game means by "right letter right place" is that any one of your current letters is at correct place. You dont know which of your letters it is. It is confusing to have hints shown in similar 5 place row as the letters itself, while all it says is "you have 1 letter in correct place" and "you have 5 letters, but they all in wrong places".
I think tony has it right. the black/yellow dots dont represent where you got the right letter, just the fact that you got one right. so if you have a black dot in the first position, it means that you have a correct letter in the correct spot, but it can be any of the spots. one black dot could indicate that E is in the correct spot in the sequence, ZZZEZ, or that one of the Zs is in the right place. this of course places much more ambiguity in your correct choices and makes the game that much harder.
Thanks... it makes more sense now. That was driving me crazy... not that this makes me any less crazy.
I agree with Rox and i think it's a flaw - it's much easier to get quickly to the answer if you just play like mastermind without trying to type real words each time. I wish there were some incentive to type real words.
Guess what?
Second best score!
I guessed "death" first time, and it was right! Go me!
(I'm crab on high scores, too)
What a frustrating game! It seems totally random. I don't get it--worst thing is that when you lose, it doesn't tell you what the word really was.
29 seconds...finally i can luck my way through a game!

It's actually displayed at the top of the game window.
