Armed with nothing but a bow and some arrows, Bowja the Ninja is on a covert mission to Factory Island to take out the menace to humanity that is the Gi8000 (otherwise known as Randy the Robot). Help Bowja defeat the factory workers and save humanity once and for all, before it's too late.
Created by Robin Vencel, Bowja the Ninja on Factory Island is a charming point-and-click adventure in which you must find the appropriate spots to click to make little Bowja advance, solving puzzles and besting foes along the way. The animations, little voices, and scenery make this game a pleasure to play through. And when you complete the game, you're even treated to some game art downloads as a reward. Play Bowja the Ninja on Factory Island.
Cheers to Justin, Robin, and Bob for sending this one in! =)

How do you get past the third screen?
Describe the 3rd screen? Is that the one with the meter off to the right, and the elevators?
The third screen is the one with three story tower on the left and the bad guy standing to the left of the three crates stacked pyramid-style, but I've yet to find a way past it.
Scratch that.

On the third screen, the code is

I'm stuck on the screen with the robot.

Has anybody figured out mid-cablecar section yet?
Stuck on the cable car?

I am stuck on the level with all the numbered doors...

very pretty game though, and nice ambiance

Click on the top of the power pole that's coming from the top of the little building to make the lights in the building go out.
Click on the crate that's at the top of the stairs on the dock.
Click on the crate again.
Click on the crate a third time to climb on top of the building.
Click the wasp nest in the tree above you. It will fall on the second guard and he goes away.
Click on the chest at the far right side of the screen. You get a grappling hook!
Click the branch above you to climb up using the grappling hook.
Click the next branch to climb up using the grappling hook again. On to the next screen!

Click the light on the left of the machine to knock it out, this draws the guard over to the left.
Shoot the guard! He'll fall back and activate a lever, then he leaves the screen to the right.
Click the platform that you're standing on to be taken to the top.
Shoot the colored gauge on the right side of the screen until the arrow points to the yellow part.
Activate the lever to your right. This brings the lift down.
Activate the control panel on the lift. This takes you up to the top platform and to the next screen!

Click the triangle-shaped wedge that's under the large wheel on the second level.
Shoot the large wheel. It will start rolling toward the guard and they both take a dive off the right side of the screen.
Click on the control panel on the right side of the platform you're standing on.
Click the lever until the lights are positioned over:
R and 5
Click toward the bottom to exit the control panel screen.
Click the lever on the very top platform to bring the cart over to your side. Click on the cart to be taken to the next screen!

When you aren't being fired at, shoot an arrow at the helicopter's tail wing to disable it. At this point you and the helicopter fall into the water and also into the next screen!

Click on the wavy-looking object near the top right of the screen. You'll swim over and pick it up, then swim back.
Click on the remnants of the helicopter to use the metal thing you got to pry it out of way and on to the next screen (after an advertisement).

Notice the roman numerals on the wall. The first one is a 3. Click on the door with the 3 above it, but make sure to make note of the rest of the numbers before you leave this screen! For reference the numbers are:
3, 1, 4, 9, 7, 5
Continue clicking on the doors following the list of numbers on the wall. On to the next screen!

Once again, while you aren't being shot at, shoot an arrow at the box above you that has all of the wires going into it. This knocks a wire loose and disables the giant robot.
Click the lever at the top of the stairs to open the hatch above you.
Click on the helicopter to get in it and fly out. And with that, you're done.

That's one adorable game with the kind oh humor I like a lot :)
How to kill the robot

Awwww that was so short.
Reminds me of a few great games, namely Samorost and the all-time classic, Another World. The art direction is great and the animation is superb.

Anyhow, this game made me long for more. Cheers to Robin for a great game!
Fantastic point-and-click game. It lets you try multiple things without punishing you, the clues are just right, the artwork is beautiful, and everything well animated.
Looks good, plays well, but it was just a bit short.
I have no idea where to get that R5 code. I had to look in the walkthough for that one.
Also, I cheated by...

Anyone else having loading problem? I tried cleaning my cache but that didn't help.
Okay that was a nifty game, but story-wise, what the heck happened?
The game won't load!
I've tried restarting the internet, refreshing the page, closing the window with the game and opening another one. There's still nothing in the little bar below the big ad!
You can try playing the game at Kongregate:

The Kongregate totally worked. Thanks.
Jay - it is refreshing to have you write a couple of reviews.
I've been visiting your site almost everyday for the past three years. I miss the short and sweet review format.
Everyone else who posts reviews on the front page seems to think that long and winding is the way to catch someone's attention. It is not.
I especially hate the super long and gushy pay-to-download game reviews. I know you guys get a cut, and I think that is great, however, it junks up the front page when one game review is two screens long. Also, I am slightly nauseated by the overly enthusiastic reviews of cookie cutter pay-to-play games.
Maybe you could make it so only a couple of paragraphs show up on the front page, and the rest is revealed on the detail page?
So again, thanks for giving us these two old-school style reviews. It was nice.
seattlicious, I agree with you. Some downright attrocious games (like Escape from Museum or Forgoten Riddles for instance) get glowing reviews you start to question the objectivity of the entire thing - this review is a great example of why "Jay is games" became one of my favorite blogs. Short, sweet and to the point, no beefing up, no blown-up enthusiasm for yet another horrible hidden object game (but with a GREAT and ORIGINAL twist!).
As for the Bowja the Ninja game, I love it, it's gorgeous but a bit on the easy side - which ain't a bad thing exactly, but it just looks TOO good to be that short and simple. I hope Bowja returns in a beat-em-up side-scroller or something, because in this one he just did a lot of Robin Hood stuff, but nothing really..umm.. ninjaicky.
I like that Bowja sets out on a mission to destroy a humongous robot, armed with nothing a bow and arrows. Arrows that are apparently made of harmless plastic, judging by the way they doink off the enemy ninjas' heads.
More, more, more!!!!!!
Wait, was his mission to destroy the robot? I guess that would make the plot make sense. I was having trouble with it because it seemed like he infiltrated the Island... then... escaped from the Island. I was never really sure why he went there in the first place.
Thanks for the link Jay!
seattlicious, I agree that it might be nice to have only the first couple of paragraphs appear on the front page, and then have the rest appear on the detail page.
I think that many readers enjoy the longer reviews. I like to read longer articles myself, and that's reflected in my own contributions to the site. Developers (of both free and commercial games) also seem to really appreciate it when we spend extra time and page space on their work.
But I agree that the longer reviews can make the front page hard to skim, especially when you haven't checked the site in a few days. It's up to Jay, of course, but maybe in the future there can be some compromise.
What an awesome game. I didn't even need the walkthrough! It took me a minute at the beginning to realize that you can't actually kill the little ninjas with your arrows (which I actually like- yay strategy!). I find that a lot of the questions people have here are actually hinted at (some pretty explicitly) in the game: both the numbered doors and the R5 code are written on the screen.
I am mixed about this game. I think the art and type of puzzle are great. I enjoyed that. However, its all slow and plodding. I feel like I am trapped in molasses. In the same vein the lever code drags you down a bit. If you had separate levers for the letters and the numbers, it would be a more pleasant experience.
So, the concept was good, and I'd like to see more, but the implementation has some issues. Tempo in not just for music.
This game is big on charm but small on length, and thus requires a stream-of-consciousness hint-through. (To make up for the concise review, this thing shall be long and humorous instead.)

I now know two things: even the most battle-hardened mercenary can be afraid of animals such as snakes and bees, and that I can't seem to be able to jump to a rooftop from a standstill. I must be thankful for my little friend, the ubiquitous wooden box.
