Polcarstva

JayPolcarstvaPolcarstva is a gorgeous piece of interactive art that comes from the amazing talents of Denis Stepkin and U Studio of Russia.

Travel through a surrealist's world, using standard point-and-click mechanics, and enjoy the music and scenery along the way. Not too difficult to get through, and yet just the right kind of diversion for an afternoon tea. Open the windows and let the spring air in while you Play Polcarstva.

Cheers to Graeme for the link. =)

Walkthrough Guide

Polcarstva-Полцарства
Translation: "half a kingdom"

I liked it, but I wish it was longer.

It is relatively easy, but for those of you that do not know quite what to do here is a walkthrough.

On the left choose between day and night and turn the music on and off.

Walkthrough

I notice there is always a space in the central area to click, but it doesn't do anything, maybe it is from one of the scenes below that only works in that scene.
Most of the scenes look interesting in the dark, but in the first it is hard to see anything.
First scene

Go right; click the largest person two times -(?) until the Й comes out. Move the Й slowly toward them or below the ground so they can pass. Go right.
Yes it is possible to kill them, oops. Second time around I smashed on with the giant letter and they went up to heaven.

Second scene

Wait for the guy to get in the cupboard. Go right, make them go up. They stack next to the cupboard. They go by and sort of close the door or look in. You can click on the cupboard and let him out. Go right

Third scene

You can move the guy with the big nose; move him close enough to hit a few birdies with his badminton racquet toward the boy. Do so until the boy opens the book and the big nosed guy falls in. The boy will open the book, follow him in.

Fourth scene

Click on the fetus near the umbilical cord a couple times until the room below lights up. Go down to land on the bed then go to the stairs

Fifth scene

Go right until they will go no farther. Hover over or click on the door. Oh my what is that? Click the ceiling a little to the left above where they stand, click the diamond. Click on the door. It glows bright and scares the monster away, go through door.

Sixth scene

Go left into womb entrance?

Seventh scene

Click on the flower bud. Click on the womb, around her belly button. Climb down flower. Go right.

Eighth scene

The little doors at the base of the stepped pyramid open and close the big doors at the top. Go right up to the doors, go right again. Can't get into heaven? Close the doors. Go right down the stairs.

Ninth scene

Go right. Click the largest person -(?) He caught something. Click on big nosed guy. Click cloud so the boat comes out. Move cloud above people, the rope will come down, tell them to go up

Last scene

Go right into bus, bus goes through gates to?

Very interesting looking game.. taking me far too long to figure some of this out though T_T

Woo! First! And sadly a bit too out of it to get very far...

All I've managed to do is send the bus to sleep and replace the beardy guy with a giant N (Russian character?) that I can't move!

Kidsafe? what about the woman in the flower?

That is Aphrodite from a famous Botticelli painting
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Birth_of_Venus.jpg
Wikipedia for the picture of the painting, not the information on it.

It's a little buggy - the first time I tried playing, I got the little people to run off the side of the first screen, making it impossible to continue. The gameplay could be a bit smoother. But it's not a bad piece.

Grosie: it's less explicit than what you might see at art museums, photo galleries, and similar places. I suppose some might not consider it kidsafe, but... eh, that's not a topic I feel like getting too deeply into right now. Suffice it to say that I fear for society if a few lines depicting a stylized representation of a human being in a natural state is considered something wicked and corruptive that must be hidden away.

Beautiful game, but do I need to get that little red thing under the bed to get past the door with the monster? I've tried jumping on the bed loads of times to no avail!

I cant pass the door with the fish-monster

LOVED it! Loved the music in the background too. Aphrodite (why did I want to call her Venus di Milo, oh well) caught me by suprise, and almost brought me to tears from laughing so hard. All I can say is, Sid and Marty Kroft (Croft?) got nothing on these folks!

Fun fact: the title of the game can also be read as "Полцарства нет", which translates as "[there is] no half a kingdom".

I don't understand why you can't move back to a position you have left if you are in the wrong position. too much work to do this afternoon to struggle through this one.

I'm amazed that there could be such fans of Zazie's work in Russia. There's 4 extracts of her songs in this game, which is quite good btw.

Grosie,
if you think Venus is not kiidsafe then have you considered the flower bud she comes out from? You can see it on the top of this very page too... Does it remind you of something? ;)

This was a wonderfully relaxing experience!

dsrtrosy:
You are never in the wrong position. If you get stuck, click anything and everything. Even if it doesn't look important.

I actually lost one of the kids (I assumed they were kids on a class field trip with their teacher) by accidentally squishing him under the N thing. He went floating off into the stratosphere.

So that's why they reviewed this so soon after Twin Hobo Rocket...

Well..... that was different.

Sorry if I have caused a fuss, it was just borne from the fact that other games have been denied the kidsafe tag because of less explicit things. I personally cannot see problems with it, and agree with the art gallery theory.

The musicMusic is by the icelandic band, Sigur Ros. The're amazing.

darn it! I wanted 2 play this again, but it won't let me! It just brings up a brown box and makes a crackling noise!!!

Are you sure? Perhaps the swf is still in my cache, but clicking the link brought up the game as expected. No crackling noises.

Fun fun fun! I didn't even mind the high art nudity of Venus on the half shell...

PS -

Mikey: Lara Croft, Sid and Marty Kroft, you are correct sir.

BioLarzen: Take my advice and stay away from ink blot tests...

And I don't mind if ming IS a word, Is too is too!

Rilly nice game. Rilly.

I can't seem to get the N to move. I can drag it and a white line appears but it just pings back to it's original position...

Make sure your resolution is set to at least 1024 x 768 and that you f11 full screen your browser, otherwise you might run into trouble just seeing a sleeping bus, and not your people group and tall white beard guy at the right side of your screen.

Eso.

Cool... Nice design

Regarding the G-Rating: I just find it funny that Sagrario's Room escape was rated Y because of a nude man in a Davinci painting, yet this was rated G, even with the half-nude woman. It seems almost even more explicit in my opinion.

I agree this should be rated differently!

I am so completely stuck here!! i've tried checking the walkthrough as i've now spent at least half an hour trying to figure out what to do. apparently there is a pyramid with doors but i can't see any pyramids, my little people just disappear and then reappear slightly above their original place. what am i supposed to do next? help me please!

Oh for goodness sakes!
You can take your children down to an art museum and see all sorts of nudes and then complain about seeing a tiny bit of nudity in a game, yet it's really okay for most to let their children play games that involve violence and killing others.
Get a grip.
This is a lovely game, beautiful music, quaint graphics. Lovely to play.
Thanks for the walkthroughs.
