Never could get the
swiss army knife corkscrew
to open, even after spending 5 minutes clicking. Gave up in frustration.
Oh boy. I'm stuck on the radio . . . I think I've tried every sound combination. I've read all these comments and tried the suggestions, but still no luck. Am I overlooking something that must be completed first? I just can't seem to find the right sounds or beeps or something. Help?
Okay, I tried a new technique... it worked. Sorry about above... had to vent a bit of frustration.
Nevermind, I went and got smokes, and came back to the game. lmao I nailed this bad boy. lmao Yay! When all else fails, go buy cigarettes.
I can't figure out how to use the
swiss army knife. I've been trying everything possible, clicking everywhere to get the corkscrew out or the knife out, nothing works. I've also just tried using the swiss army knife with no attachments out and it doesn't work that way either. What am I doing wrong?
Well, I've given up. The hidden panel has me stumped and at this point. . . Feeling a bit dumber for my efforts. I just don't see the connections but maybe I am overlooking a clue.
Did you make sure that you don't have anything in your "hands" when clicking? You have to have empty hands to manipulate most of the items, including the swiss army tool.
Thanks elle! I figured it out right after I posted, figures right? Now I just can't
find the last remaining hidden code with my blacklight. Feels like I've searched everywhere...
About the last puzzle, I did it different than the spoiler and am confused:
So I had a3=GO, a2=OD, c3=LU, c2=CK, and I just assumed it would go in order for spelling "good luck" so I assumed a3=5, a2=6, c3=7, c2=8, and went ahead and clicked the boxes for 1-8 on the final grid and it opened. I never had to use the hidden lines on the Good Luck paper...did I get lucky, or do you not have to use those lines?
Anyway, this was a good one, the only thing that annoyed me was:
the outline for the final box...it was the only thing in the game that you could click on while holding an item (the black light), so of course by the time I found it (I found it last) I didn't even try to click on it for a while thinking I couldn't!
Heh, the only part I couldn't figure out was that
panel where you had to hold the button for 10 seconds...hadn't seen that before and wasn't thinking outside the box enough (and read it as "10 minutes" when I saw the sheet so it never dawned on me)
Thanks for explaining the disappearance of the update button Jay, but I just wanted to register my opinion about this.
I know it didn't work perfectly, but it was much easier than reloading the whole page, especially when there are a lot of comments. Hopefully you can get it working when you get time, I for one would really appreciate it.
Although if I could choose between removing the huge list of walkthroughs on the left and reinstating the update button, I'd go for removing the walkthroughs ;)
I can't figure out how to get the magnet out of the radio with the swiss army knife. What tool do i need it set on? where do i click?
(i've been trying this for ages :( )
for the hidden panel, i've got
GO - d3
OD - a2
LU - a4
CK - d3
so there's actually 2 times a2 and d3. i click them both anyways? or.. leave it? i tried clicking it again meaning turning off a2 and d3 bt it still wont open the box. D:
somebody pls help :(
You can't just enter the 'good luck' code as you find it, it needs to be altered slightly.
As mentioned in the walkthrough, you will find a clue when you shine the black light on the 'good luck' piece of paper in the envelope
The lines drawn between the letters show how they match up; you have put the two halves of each letter-number pair together in this way
From memory, you use the knife blade on the back of the small speaker. You have got the radio open, right?
2 things that stumped me were:
the hidden panel, and the last code.
I knew it had to do with the switching of the letters, but I was going about it the wrong way. I ended up changing the letters around so it said DCUG KOOL, from there I kept trying it as many ways as I could come up with but nothing.
=/ I had to use a spoiler.
One thing I think they need to change is the way you "hold" something. I constantly found myself getting a little frustrated when switching between objects, and not being able to click on a button with an object.
Other than that I really enjoy the simple layout, minimal decor and good "graphics"
I liked it overall, but I think many of the puzzles required HUGE leaps in logic, and way more "hunting" effort than should have been required. I definitely agree with Jess about the inventory/clicking issues; that was a pain in the ass! Overall, pretty enjoyable.
I agree on the items, really frustrating how you had to put something back to move, and also how if you wanted to look at something you would easily pick it up instead.
other than that i liked the game.
Looks to me like you got lucky with the final puzzle; the reshuffled coordinates are exactly the same as the unreshuffled ones! I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what order you click them in.
For last puzzle i have:
LU = a4
OD = c3
CK = b1
GO = d1
the letters are linked:
GD = d3
OC = c/d1
OU = d/c4
LK = a1
I don't seem to be getting any where... Do I just put the 4 codes in like below?
I am sick today and thought a nice little escape game would take my mind off how icky i feel.
I can't get the briefcase open. I used the 2nd little key that I got when I used the first little key on the WooHoo Davinchi painting and the latches flipped down but the case does not open. I am just sitting here clicking all over it with the key that made the latches flip down.
No one else has had this problem so I KNOW it is me and I think that it's funny. Maybe I'll try again next week.
I want to finish the game but if I don't it deserves a high rating on looks alone.
Wow! What a game! Took me two days to do it, but I'm out! YAY!!! Thanks for all the hints, couldn't have done it without you all!!!
It's not you, 4red3s, I had the same problem. Unhighlight the key and then click on the lid of the briefcase (the top half). I don't think it works if you still have the key highlighted. This is one of those clunky user-interface issue Jess mentioned in the analysis (which is why I'm not spoiler-tagging it; it's not really a puzzle, IMO).
Feliss: You need to enter the four codes on the paper from the radio as well as the ones you derived from GOOD LUCK. 8 buttons total.
I still can't get the combination lock?? It sure is easier doing it by the hand. If you don't to start on 0...but going around to get exactly on the number that you are given, seems as it's taking longer to be right on the nose? Will I ever get pass this point?
The puzzle inside the third panel just doesnt' make sense to me. Nor can I figure out how to use the "good luck" clue. I'm not sure why I can't wrap my mind around it, but it seems completely arbitrary. . .
Is there anyone in the mood to fully explain the logic behind that puzzle?
I'd give up, but I'm stubborn.
Wurg. I was flying through this game without having to touch the walkthrough, which is very unusual for me. Then I hit the radio problem, which bites since a) I'm deaf and b) no speakers because what do I need them for? *sad*
Other than the UI issues that others have already covered, this is a really nice game that I was having fun with. The pixel hunting didn't bother me as much since I found the little hotspots pretty easily.
A great little game. I needed this thread's hints to open the electric socket and to get my hands on the magnet, otherwise I got through it all myself. Wheeeeee!
My only complaint:
I had guessed at the die-faces-as-key-input solution before I got the black light working, and I tried to make it happen, assuming blue was 1 and that opposite sides of the die would add to seven (as is always the case with real dice), which leaves only 3 possibilities of how the numbers and colors match up (with # pairing, there are only 3 possible number layouts on a die), and I thought I was so clever, and it didn't work, and then when the black light showed me the die, blue was 1 alright, but the rest of the layout was not paired into sevens, which means it is some kind of PRETEND DIE. But since I'm in a pretend room, I guess that's not so egregious.
I am totally baffled by the radio. I tried the image posted above and no luck. Some changes seem to have no effect. I just don't get it. Please help me!
Can someone please help me get the floor board up? I put the gold bar on it, it pops up, I pick up the gold bar and then click on the floor board but nothing happens. Is there some trick to getting it to come off?
to get floor board up,
you have already worked out some of it but you need another thing you're probably already holding to do the next step
the thing holding this end of the floor board down is a piece of string
for the radio you need to get all the sliders in the right places. Press the 'play' button to hear the tones.
Each slider has one position where it'll make the tones sound different.
The sliders are independent: tackle them in any order and just listen to the sound as a whole.
For someone with reduced hearing, the radio task is not easy to complete. This task and only this task in the game depends on sounds. The solution is different for different players.
If you cannot hear the sounds the radio plays there are too many different combinations to let you solve the game in a fun way. I cannot think of a way to make this solvable without a Heath Robinson combination of sound capture software and a program which can draw the sound as a line.
Help with the Speaker/Magnet!
I got the radio open and have been trying to get the speaker out with the knife (blade is out). Where do I click on the speaker? It's driving me crazy! :P
Using the knife on the magnet in the center of the speaker when the radio is open should make it pop off. You might have done it, check your inventory for a new small round disk
anyone? answers to all puzzles please?
[Edit: Please refer to the walkthrough that appears above the comments for help solving the puzzles. Please note that many of the puzzles are random and therefore listing the answers is not possible. -Jay]
You know, with that many tools, I could have opened that bloody door much quicker than that. Heck, the swiss army knife would be more than enough to pull the latch back.
I was actually *extremely* impressed with this game up until I had to
open the right panel. Try as I might, after about 20 minutes of trying to hold the button for what apparently needs to be *exactly* ten seconds, I gave up. It is truly disappointing that such a wonderful looking game needs that kind of tedium to solve. (And I did try the above posted suggestion of closing the window and retrying.)
Maybe the next escape game will be more traditional.
I don't really understand what the issue is with the right panel.
After reading the piece of paper that shows a finger pressing the button and then a clock showing 10" (which means seconds), I went to the panel and pressed on it until the panel popped open.
I didn't count.
It didn't need to be *exact*.
It just opened.
I thought the clue was straightforward, and I even remember thinking to myself how clever it was to extend the function of a simple button in a way most people would never think of until they see the clue. :)
Well, I kept trying by brute force.
Held it down, counted to 8 and released... nothing. Held it down, counted to 9 and released... nothing. Held it down... well, long story short, by the time I got to holding the button to the count of 16 it opened (while I was still holding the button.) Maybe I count too fast.
So, my advice, which I now see is what Jay's method was, is
JUST KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON DOWN UNTIL IT OPENS. Don't count. Don't assume it'll be ten seconds. Just hold it without letting go.
I'm having trouble getting the four batteries from the chair. I put the magnet on the bottom of the thing but nothing's happening.
the code for the radio is as follows
first from the left is all the way to the top
second is all the way to the bottom
third is three from the bottom
fourth is three from the bottom same as third
fifth is three from the top
hope this helps
for a response under my last edited comment,there's no way to completely solve the puzzles because i don't understand "for a vlue to solve the puzzle" if it says "the answer is 2346" for example,then i know how to do it. otherwise i'm never going to finish the game. so if anyone can help with that,i'd appreciate it.
i can't do the afe plaese help it's realy hard ive got the code i just dont know how to put it in
have a question about the right door. the one with colors. it says to use the black light with the ball,but it won't use together. is this where the 4 batteries come into play? it doesn;t say so in the walkthrough. and luvy,on the safe,the direction is not accurate on it. if it says Right 23,go Left 23,or if it says left 7,go Right 7. that;s how it worked for me.
Paul, every game is different, so your code will not necessarily be the same as another player's. Also, in the future, please place spoiler tags around any answers or serious hints you may give. Thanks!
I can't figure out how to
get the screws out of the outlet. I unscrewed them but they are just sitting there.
Jess that is why i said "if it says" if the answer everytime was those numbers i'd have said "this is the direct solution" and i would have put spoiler tags. i apologize however. anyway getting back to my question earlier. it said
use blacklight with colored cube
i tried that and it wouldn't work. am i supposed to use the
to make it work?
good luck was tough, even with the spoiler which gives an example using gd=a4... but gd from the black light clue is actually d4
from the paper clue you have:
the 4 black light clues are the starting point to 5-8 above. write down the black light clues like this:
Use the happy face clue that shows:
5. gd = 4d
1st row in goodluck above, trace the g down to the d in 4th row, then take the letter/number combination from the 2nd column of the 4th and 1st row to get 4d
6. oc = c4
2nd row, trace the o down to the c in the 7th row, then take the letter/number combination from the 2nd column of the 7th and 2nd row to get c4
7. ou = 2a
3rd row, trace the o down to the u in the 6th row, then take the letter/number combination from the 2nd column of the 6th and 3rd row to get 2a
8. lk = 1c
5th row, trace the l down to the k in the 8th row, then take the letter/number combination from the 2nd column of the 8th and 5th row to get 1c
i just can't figure out the color puzzle or the GO OD LU CK thing. i tried every combination known to man. can someone give me a heads up on the answers to these? thanks.
JIGuest,i tried that solution and it didn't work. i guess i'll never finish this game. the color one is difficuklt as well because the same color appeared twice to me so i had to deselect it later and i never got it then either. :(
The solution to the GOOD LUCK puzzle in the walkthrough is an EXAMPLE. Your codes will be different. The walkthrough is there to show you how to derive the solution using your own clues.
Yes, you need to play the four batteries into the black light to make it work, then examine the cube and use the black light on it. The walkthrough does say to play the four batteries into the black light as soon as you pick it up.
yeah i know it's an example but i don;t understand it. i tried several combinations and nothing works. and the one before the GOOD LUCK one with the colored lights make less sense. i missed the batteries thing from before so i apologize about that. in any case,let's say the color they want is red and red is 1. red might be mentioned twice. if that's so,1 makes it green,and 1 will make it not green,and door won;t open. everything up to these 2 puzzles were easy however. I guess i'm just not going to finish this until i get a better understanding. if the GOOD LUCK one changes everytime especially i know i'll never figure it out. :(
ok i think i understand slightly the color thing now. but please read:
i read on another site that the numbered die represents that color and you punch in the code by the dots of the number. like if it was 3 you'd punch it in like the 3 on the die. i'm confused however if i'm supposed to put the number in first,or press the long button first. looks like there are 2 shades of red as well,as one shade has one number and the other another number.
I hope someone can clue me in on this and the GOOD LUCK one as well.
Please, help me with safe. I have code but can't open it.
How to open the safe:
Suppose you get 15R20L...
This is what you'll do:
Click the right site od the dial until you get to 15.
Then, click the left side of the dial until you get to 20.
And... I can't figure out the clue that says:
Press the button for 10 seconds.
I kept the button to open the lid for 40 seconds and nothing happened! I tried the little black dot above the color squares, 40 seconds and nothing, too...
Which button do i have to press?
kaapor,i already answered your post earlier but what you do is
if the backlight on the wall reads 25R15L etc. what you do is go right to 25 then left to 15. howeever the clue in the walkthrough says that "if it doesn;t work one way,try the other" and that is true. when i tried going 25R 15L etc it didn't work so i went 25L 15R and it worked.
can someone please shine some light on the
square match of color deal and the grid puzzle?
i've about given up hope on this game.
Here's where I am:
I have 2 keys to the suitcase and I found the last panel, but I am having trouble putting together the good luck with the chess squares...
Closed the tab by accident, re-opened...progress was saved but inventory was entirely gone. Now I'm sad. Boo.
This was quite an enjoyable, and nicely done, room escape!
I do have one question, though...
Is there really any point to getting the bolts from the chair in your inventory? I've played through the game twice now and never used the blasted things!
For the one box with the single line of buttons
You will need to have the blacklight to shine above the row of buttons, and you will see what looks like part of a piano keyboard, which correspond to the scale:
C D E F G A B
Then look in the briefcase and note the letters and their corresponding colors. There are only 4 buttons you need to set the color for on this puzzle.
For the chess game/GOOD LUCK puzzle.....well good luck to everyone on that. I give up. I have read every spoiler, looked at every example, seen the lines on the note with the blacklight, and still this puzzle makes absolutely no sense to me.
Done it, with only one unintentional hint (there's minor spoilers in the review):
Couldn't find the loose floorboard, assumed there wasn't one until I read the review. ^^'
The not being able to move with object selected did get a but annoying, but the overall experience was still enjoyable, atmospheric, and nicely rendered.
@luke & frustrated:
Find the four clues around the room using the black-light and write them down so that each letter in GOODLUCK matches one symbol, such as (O' used to avoid confusion; not the actual letters/numbers, I just made them up, they could be random anyway, I haven't checked):
G = a
O = 2
O' = b
D = 4
L = b
U = 2
C = c
K = 3
Then, rearrange them according to the pattern that shows up on the GOODLUCK paper under the black-light (the lines show which letters are connected):
GD = a4
O'U = b2
LK = b3
CO = c2
These correspond to the obscured codes (5, 6, 7, 8.) on the code sheet. Now enter all eight codes into the corresponding squares on the chess-board in order - the chess-board squares are labeled 1-4 vertically from bottom, A-D horizontally from left (this is just visible along the sides of the board).
Eh voilà! The final key!
@An Onyx Mouse:
Not that I found! =D
The Chessboard puzzle is just way too much for me and every spoiler here gives different answers which none seem to work for me. I'm at the point where it would be great if someone could just give the answer clearly....
1.(being the order of button clicked)1a (being the tile you click)
the checkerboard puzzle is making me mad and everyone is coming up with totally different numbers...
RN=4a²x2.568³+9/205.554 = A4
and I put that formula in (Oddly, not really telling the formula)
So, yeah, just put in GD=9 if on a cloudy day but if its raining its 6 but remember that OU=LK only on Tuesdays between 9:01am and 10:43am PST unless otherwise noted.
based on stormy's idea i tried that. my final 4 codes were
after using the GD,OU,LK,and CO like the message instructed,the final tabulation was
i typed that in but either C1 or C4 was one of the numbers i was to punch in on the first 4,so it did not work.
this game is just way to hard to comprehend.i hope the next game that comes out for this site will be a lot easier. i'm simply never going to finish it.
I'm completely lost on the chessboard puzzle. I've read all the hints, but unless I'm totally doing it wrong, I'm worse off than Paul:
I only have 4 combinations for 8 entries! Am I just unlucky, or am I not doing my 4 coordinates right?
I'm stuck too with the chess puzzle. Oddly, my paper with the first 4 codes says
It seems people are getting different codes?
I'm ready to give up myself.. not worth it
No can do - the numbers change each time it's played.
You've combined them incorrectly; again, write each letter of GOODLUCK out separately with its corresponding letter/number next to it and then combine them in the given pairs.
You need to find the piece of paper with the first four codes on.
Thanks, stormy! I cannot believe I spent so much time on this! Holy cow!
I tried doing that as well but again, as I said, the following happened:
That's D4 A4 C2 and C1. If you noticed, unless the original 4 numbers changed, one of the original answers on the sheet is C1. If I do C1 twice, I have to deselect it later. I tried mixing and matching,and everything comes up wrong :(
No matter which way I do it, no matter what combination, it's wrong.
I understand the concept of the whole blacklight and die thing, but I can't seem to get the blasted thing to work.
Apparantly 6 is on the left and right like this:
but I think it's not working for me because of 2 and 3. Are they slanted this way: /
or this way?: \
I can't seem to figure the darned thing out.
Well done, ninja! ^_^
You're still combining them wrong - label the second O as O', and then:
And in that order.
They're slanted like / IIRC, although surely it's trivial to try both ways?
The CHESSBOARD PUZZLE
Okay, MY paper says
with the "GOOD LUCK" code it turns to:
From the black light clue
G D = A2
O C = 4B
O² U = B1
L K = A3
Am I right so far? If so, I plug in the numbers in the CHESS BOARD and get nothing. I must be missing something that's RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE!
Where have I gone wrong?
I cant get the buttons on the radio to move at all! Help!
Phew! I was doing so well and then i wasn't :-) - thank heavens for walkthroughs, needed it in a couple of places, still very enjoyable though. Definately one of the better ones.
You're right so far, and almost there; see my spoiler to Paul in the post directly preceding yours.
No, wait... ^^'
I thought the order was important, but I've just replayed, and apparently it's not. My guess is you're interpreting the chess-board wrongly - it's A-D left-to-right, and 1-4 bottom-to-top.
what is the significance of the O',as opposed to just O? i can't do it no matter how much i mix and match.
see? here's what i had altogether:
Good Luck Downward read:
the GD OC OU and LK came out to:
the original 4 numbers were:
as you can see the way you showed me to match it up and the original numbers,there is one duplicate number, so unless i deselect A2mthere's no way to make this work. I don't get it :(
With the clues you've given, GOODLUCK downwards does not read what you say it does; just take each clue and split it into two parts - say if the clue was 'GO = a1', then you'd write:
G = a
O = 1
Do that for all the clues, then combine them.
So I'm at the point where I got the safe open. A ratchet is inside, and that of course removes the bolts holding the chair down. There appears to be something still in the briefcase but I can't use it/take it/open it. Pretty much stuck. I see comments about a radio, but I have no such item, nor can I find one. :(
Great game, it took me two days to finish it, without using the spoilers ;)
Great site too.
stormy as i showed in the spoiler,i did exactly that. if it said G=A O=2 etc i get 4 numbers that way. then i get the 4 original ones from the letter on the left side so they don't work. and every combination that does work with Good Luck,even after the GU type format you presented,there's always 1 thing like A2 from the GOOD LUCK or the GU thing that duplicates from the original 4 numbers. i am stumped. it's like it ends up 7 instead of 8 because i'd have to deselect a tile later.
According to you, your clues are:
GO = d4
OD = a1
LU = c4
CK = d4
GOODLUCK then reads (the ones you got wrong are highlighted):
G = d
O = 4
O' = a
D = 1
L = c
U = 4
C = d
K = 4
Combine those - you will not get a duplicate code.
i just told you i did it that way with
and on mine it was:
whe i typed in the original 4 numbers and then added those in order,nothing happened.
so i don;t know. i'm just totally confused. and what's worse the dice game is messed up too because the number/color thing doesn;t seem to add up. if it says:
Red=5,i punch it as it would on the die and after all that it won't accept it either. this is very complicated. it was easy up to those last 2 puzzles but i am just stumped.
Where are you getting D4, A4, C2, C1 from? You said your clues were D4, A1, C4, D4 - they do not combine to D4, A4, C2, C1.
As for the die puzzle, write down what number each colour on the die is (red = 5, etc.), then look at the order of the coloured lights that appear above the keypad for the puzzle, and enter the numbers corresponding with each colour in that order.
Imagine there are people solving this without the tutorial.. That's just insane, haha!
Anyway.. I have an issue with getting the batteries out of the holes from the chair. Am I pointing the ratchet in the wrong way or something?? I've highlighted the ratchet (with the magnet attached to it) and pointing the cursor at the holes and clicking.. But nothing.. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?? :/
Thanks in advance!
I have the music puzzle solved, and see that I have to "pry the magnet off of the speaker." Where is the magnet located? What do I use to pry it off? I don't see any magnet- is the music puzzle supposed to be open?
Sounds like a glitch - it should just work automatically. Are you sure the magnet is attached?
After solving the radio puzzle, use the KNIFE on the swiss army knife and click on the round circle in the middle on the backside of the speaker area. That should release a small circular magnet. :)
I have a little problem understanding where did you get the code for the left panel buttons.
"Look at the briefcase, you'll see a logo with four letters all with a color. These correspond to the piano keys.
From left to right the order of the keys is C D E F G A B. Match the colors with the letters it gave you on the panel and it should give you the key."
How can I see the order of the letter in the piano keys? You say it's C D E F G A B.
Isn't this randomized as well? How can you find the right order?
As i said Stormy,i still can't get it. when i tyoed out GOODLUCK i get
so if that is the combination,i should punch in the first 4 numbers on the sheet,then 5-8 would be that right? If so,C1 was on the sheet originally. so if i get C1 again,then i only deselect it. either that or i'm only supposed to do the GOOD LUCK and not the first 4. this part is just over my head.
Shine the black-light over the buttons to see the outline of the piano-keys - in the two games I've checked, they've always been the same: C, D, E, F, G, A, B.
Again, from the clues you've given (D4, A1, C4, D4), GOODLUCK doesn't read how you say it does, it reads:
Have you restarted the game or something?
no i have not restarted the game. what i'm getting at is i am supposedly to punch in the first 4 numbers as shown on the left side as well as the right side,correct? even if the numbers don't repeat,if i put all 8 numbers on the board,nothing happens. and the way you put it up to down is what i punched on just 4. still nothing.
Then you've worked out the codes wrong - have you copied down the clues around the room correctly?
yes i did. the codes were posted above. i'll get them again.
the last part about "C1 or C4" is in reference to the original 4 numbers on the left side of the paper i found. If i type in the 8 numbers the 2nd or 3rd number on the left is C1 so if C1 is the answer i came up with for the last 4 numbers,something is wrong. and if i just go:
or any combimation above,no green light and no key,so obviously it takes Albert einstein to figure it out.
I have Asperger's Syndrome so i have a slight learning problem because of it. so i am sorry if i am annoying anyone or bugging anyone about this. I'm just at a dead end. and the color cube/die puzzle is just as tricky.
Ok, I give up..
I've tried it on three different computers, in both IE and Firefox, and also of different sites where the game is hosted, but I just cant get the damn batteries out of the holes in the chair. And yes, the magnet is always attached to the ratchet.
I liked the game, but these bugs just make we want to blow something up, hahaha!
You are not combining the clues correctly - the correct last four codes are:
D1, A4, C4, D4
Note how there is no C1.
