Againes - To rebuild the outpost,
click on the old broken outpost across the bridge to the right of the trees. An icon to repair the outpost will appear when you click on it.
Donna - on Rusty Bucket,
try having your hero protect the town while your spare villagers go around collecting resources until you have enough money to hire gunslingers. It's definitely tricky to keep the town protected in the beginning though, don't feel discouraged.
prememorie - The Indian hat
is acquired when you defeat McAllister at the end of the game.
thenightlighter - about the trading post challenge:
Are you still having this problem? Sounds like a glitch to me. Did you actually have enough food, or just the capacity to store that much food? Incidentally, for the food collecting quests, sometimes it is easier to just build granaries and collect food instead of building farms.
Thanks to all of yall for the help. I didnt have anything good to post that someone else hadn't already answered already... Until I found this HIDDEN HAT. You wont find it in the Hat Store.
Have a upgraded (gun) deputy get a hat. It doesn't matter which hat. AFTER he has a hat on, then you get him a horse and it will change into a DEPUTY HAT when he mounts the horse. (Again the order is Upgrade the gun, get a hat, any hat, and then get a horse. The hat then changes automatically)
Hello I am new to site but not the game.
Need help finding white bunny and with the earthquake town. I have redone that quest 10 times now. Any good ideas people?
Also what is the trick to the haunted pumpkin head town?
Thanks much in advance.

[Edit: Did you check the walkthrough at the top of the page? There may be some information to help you there. -Pam]
Hi. I've been playing this game for about two days now and I'm kinda stuck. I have two problems.
1. I've got the drill together and everything. But I can't seem to find the rocks I'm supposed to have my hero blast. It seems I've blasted just about all the rocks around the drill and still nothing. Does anyone perhaps happen to have a screenshot of which rocks? If I missed it here, sorry.
2. for the bounty wanted poster quest things, I finish the fifth one, but it won't give me anymore after that. Should I build another sheriff's office? I have two up right now.
Thanks for any help :)
erily - about the rocks and the drill -
I don't have a screenshot, but the rocks are on the east side of the raised plateau right above where the drill is. There is a tree on top of the plateau, and rocks on the east side. Does that help?
For the wanted poster bounties,
I think you'll have to wait until you build the next town to open the next set of quests.
I've gotten through most of the game and am now looking for MacAllister in one of the wagons. BUT...I can't shoot any bear to complete the professional challenge. When I click on the bear, they are on a yellow circle rather than a blue one. I can't shoot them. The only other problem I've had was I was locked out of the Smuggle challenge. That guy just came up and said he waited too long and wasn't coming back, so I couldn't complete it. Is there any way to unlock the Professional Challenge so that I can complete?
PLEASE HELP! Okay so on the sunken treasue...I found the blue rocks. The first thing I tried was to build a well on it. I tried blowing it up. I tried building a fountain. Nothing works. I found this sight while looking for answers. I read that if a well was built there then that is the answer. This is not working for me. Do I have to do something else first.
Also...On the pumpkin curse level. I have been having a hard time with this one, I can now no longer get into the cave to attempt the mission. My charecter won't enter. He doesn't make a comment as to why. It is as if the cave is not there. Is there glitches in the game? There seems to be. I am very far with more resources coming in then I can even use, and do not have any desire to start again. Please HELP!
Gracie - population of 20
To get a population over 15 you need a sheriff (not only deputy, that's not enough), to come over 20 you have to give them luxery as buildings, plants and what ever else there is offered (sorry, it's a while ago that I played it, so I don't know exactly, what kind of luxery there is)
Greetings, Kayleigh
I'm having trouble. I 'm on the new trade route quest where you need to plant trees to stabalize the hillside. I'm trying to plant trees behind the cabin on the left side of the river but it won't let me, and when I plant them on the right side of the river, nothing happens. Anyone else have this problem? What do I do?
Thea - The trees for the outpost...
need to go on the left side of the river. Maybe you are experiencing a glitch, but try planting them anywhere they'll let you! I think all of mine were up on the hill north of the cabin. Have you unlocked trees from the general store?
Bee1976 - The lamppost for the haunted town...
should be built near the cave on the far east of the map.
To thenightlighter and anyone else failing their first Trading Post Challenge: What the failure message fails to tell you is that you don't get credit until and unless you click the "!" balloon and REPORT you've got the necessary material.
I consider this message failure a programming error, so I am NOT putting spoiler marks on it.
There is one last frustration available from the stupid Earthquake Valley quest. (Any quest where the most reasonable way to pass the challenge offered is by saving so as to avoid actually getting that challenge is, by me, stupid.)
If you build north of the path where you first enter, build well north of it and/or east or west of the signpost. Because when you've finally succeeded, if Harris Pilton doesn't get to stand exactly where he wants to, the quest doesn't end. It just keeps going.
Moreover, if you try to Load a game saved after that catastrophe, the program freezes.
ChristineB, here's the answer someone else pointed out about gathering up the wood and gold you don't need during side quests:
You can use those resources to buy Buildings, Upgrades, and/or Luxuries in the Store before you leave the quest. This is similar to using the Health Kits and Gun Upgrades you pick up there--they don't come back with you, but the effects do.
Also, I want to thank someone for pointing out that you can have a second Sheriff's office, and thus get extra Deputies. Because that means I can have enough people so that most of them don't get killed at the higher levels of the side quests. (Yes, I know it's only a game--but I still don't like sending personnel out with the *expectation* that they'll die.)
Jenni, about not being able to build a Bridge:
Whenever you go to build anything, you always get the messages about prerequisites above the Build space. They matter only if the item is grayed.
So if you have a Lumber Mill (or more), and can't build a bridge, look to the main playing space for a message. For instance, that:
* The character can't reach the building site
* Your attempted build site is blocked
* You need a certain amount of Gold and Wood--meaning you're short on one or both.
The spoilers about the HIDDEN HAT are true but misleading.
All that happens, in my experience, is that the hat the deputy bought *changes back* to the standard deputy hat once you have him mounted.
Which is silly and not worth even the 5 extra gold it costs.
If I'm missing something, please comment.
I have a question and I am really stuck, its probably something stupid I am missing but I can not get to Willy to talk about revenge on mcallister. How in the world do you get to him?
Also,if I am running out of gold and my panning mills are out how do I get more points to build and more gold if I have collected everything I can get to? Do I need to restart? Because I can't rescue the 2 lumberjacks, can't get to willy, or research the gold mine. I am new at this type of game and love it but I'm struggling and I have been working on it for days. I appriciate any help.
thanks, Steph
grammajoe - Can't you hit exit to leave the quest? You should be able to return to it later once you have enough points.
Steph - Have you found the lumberjacks? Have you crossed the river?
There are two sets of rocks blocking parts of the map/. If you blow up the rocks in the river blocking the southern gold deposits, you can reach the lumberjacks.
Love the site, very helpful but i'm in a bit problem right now.
I can't find the mechanic on the red arrow on the southern part of the map.
i fixed all the buildings, increased population and is maintaining the count, although i guess earlier one got hungry and left. after all of the above, i hired somebody to work for the store to buy a dynamite, i fired him and put him to work at the saloon and hired one gunslinger only. I blowed up the area where i can distract the bandits, but when i walked towards the red map, Mr. Mechanic isn't showing up.
Did i just missed something? Tried reading any post about it but JIGuest question on page 2 wasn't really answered clearly.
I'll appreciate if somebody drops hints! Thanks!
grammajoe - Sounds like a glitch. Did you actually HAVE 40 food, or just the capacity to hold 40 food?
steph - If you have any other open quests available, you can do those to get points and gold. If you have a sheriff's office or trading post, the trading post and wanted poster quests are great ways to get points. If you get the gold to build something for the first time, you can get points for that. Otherwise you will probably have to start from a save point - remember to save backup points that you can return to!
Hello All !
Can I tell you that all your hints and spoilers saved me alot of time ; )
Anyhoo, I've finished the game and I'm on to collecting all the trophies. Are there any special tasks to complete?
I've done the egg hunt, grown grapes, built the butter churn, ostriches, etc.
I can't get the pirate hat (I missed the treasure hunt in the first town) and I failed the smuggling challenge, missing the winery. And I'm still missing the cheese hat and the last two secret items at the store.
If someone could let me know if I'm truly done, or missed something, I'd appreciate it.
Hi All
I have a question.
When I played the game the second time I got the Bandit Boss and a Wolf (a Guard dog), this was because I had completed the sandbox challenges. I found the 2 resources very useful in some of the quests, particularly when I ran out of gold and couldn't afford a gunslinger.
But I only got them for the first town, how do I get them for the second town? Do I need to replay the sandbox challenges?
Thanks
i got the bunny for the traveler. i actually had to blow up a granary so the hero could get to it. now i have the stables but no black horses. i am in the second town. still don't know what to do with the bunny as far as finding a hole for it. i did go into a cave and found the haunted town, which i have solved. also on the 5 barrels, i solved that yesterday, but it is making me do it again.
Rescue the Mechanic
In the walkthrough guide it says:
Set the townsfolk to work at the lumber camp, the gold mine, and farm.
I've gone into this quest several times...even started the game over to make sure I have the bank with 800 gold. But, I can't do anything once I get there. Townspeople don't say anything and they are in yellow rings and can't be moved. I can't repair buildings and I can't get a build menu either. I've picked up all the gold, logs, and food I can find and still can't do anything.
Did I miss something before I got there? I've got a ton of gunslingers and deputies this time, too. Anyone have any ideas?
MACKIE - You need a sheriff's office to deal with a drunk. Drag your sheriff onto the drunk who will then be jailed until they recover, and can later rejoin your village.
castlemve - Is any dialogue happening when you get to the village? Did you find Willy?
grammajoe - Black horses...
are a random event. You just have to keep trying until one appears.
The rabbit treasure..
happens in the first town.
Your earthquake quest problem sounds like a glitch. If you are certain you've completed the quest requirements and talked to the people you need to, then I can only suggest reloading from a save point. Good luck!
eileen -
The only dialogue is with the sheriff (?) who talks about the bandits tearing up the town and lets the hero (the female who isn't pocohantas) and gunslingers check the buildings for the mechanic. But the hero can't get into any of the buildings and can't repair them. None of the townspeople speak to her at all and can't be moved. I tried to build something but can't get the build menu.
The first time on the quest, after not getting a rise out of anything in town, I found where the bandits were and headed straight over there (picking up all resources along the way). The bandits killed everyone off so I went back to town to see if anything would happen and nothing. I restarted the quest several times with no results (except everyone getting killed by the bandits), and then went back to the first town and tried to get the bank going but couldn't get the experience points so gave up and started the game all over.
Now I'm back there with 800 gold in the bank and a huge amount of gunslingers and deputies and it is the same as before. Haven't tried for bandits yet, though. The walkthrough suggests getting the townspeople working as the 3rd step, so I assume I should be able to do that before I head off to get the bandits.
The only quests I have back in the first town is to find the mechanic and several follow-on ones that start with preparing the drill, which I think needs to be done in the second town after finding the mechanic.
Eileen, thanks for your quick response. However, I currently have three farms and two ranches, as well as 107 water capability. But I have 0 water. And it continuously says 0 water and that my town is out of water. For whatever reason, I cannot keep water, and I cannot figure it out. I thought maybe this was some task I needed to complete or something. I have no clue. If anyone knows, please holler!
Thanks again!
JIGuest - The gold barrels simply appear when you are standing at the correct location (the red arrows). A button will appear asking if you'd like to place the barrel.

Winery:
Complete resource smuggling quest in second town, and reward is winery.
Butter churn:
Complete all trading post challenges and butter churn appears in unlock menu.
I am stuck at the Sunken Treasure thing. I HAVE the key. Went to the haunted town, and I built a well in the middle of those rocks. No matter what I do, my hero won't go into the well.
I've tried rebuilding the lamppost and get back in, but that didn't work.
I had a previous save and I finished the Haunted town mission again, but still no luck.
I'm SURE I have the key, I even demolished my bridge again to see if it would appear again, but it says I already have it.
Does anyone know if you maybe have to finish something else first? The last westward I played had a bug really late in the game and I am seriously going to kill someone if this is the case again! *rage!!*
Charlotte - I'm sorry to say that this is probably a bug in the game - many people have reported it. Apparently Sandlot was working on a fix..
...They believe it occurs when you build the well before you are supposed to in the quest. Then even when you have the key it doesn't work. Did that happen to you? If so, if you reload from a save point you may be able to get past this.
Otherwise you may want to contact the developer or publisher. http://bigfishgames.custhelp.com/app/ask
I don't know how to do the spoiler thing...but for the perfect gift quest I did not have 3 farms. I had 1 farm, 1 general store, 1 saloon, 1 panning mine, 1 lumber camp, and 4 log cabins.
