JayDaymare Town 2We are beginning to think that Mateusz Skutnik never sleeps anymore with the never-ending string of game releases we've been seeing coming from him and his talented Pastel Stories crew. Case in point, and back by popular demand, we can now put our point-and-click fingers to work with a sequel to his well-received Daymare Town, previously reviewed last summer.

Daymare Town 2 returns you to the daytime nightmare of a place complete with new puzzles to solve, new characters to meet, more creepy creatures peering at you around corners, and more items to find (this time he has you looking for coins). The place has an unsettling atmosphere and it's a bit scary, so make sure you play it late at night.

You can't help but enter this freaky town, but can you escape from it?

Mateusz sends word that this latest game sports his newest, slickest game engine ("the float ver.1.0") that will be used for most of his upcoming games.

Full walkthrough

(minus the precise locations of the coins, since I finished w/ 19 still in my pocket - chances are good you'll find enough for your purposes and there are surely more here than I found, from posts other people have made..!)

Also there are some alternate stuff you can do, like the arsenic can apparently go a couple of places):
*City Gate/Outskirts
Gate Keeper won't let you in.

Go left to pick up just an ordinary stone (1 coin here). Go right twice (1 coin here). Go right again - note small locked door. Go right again (1 coin here). Note that round cover to tunnel only stays open when the handle's pulled down. How to weight it?

Combine hook on a piece of string and just an ordinary stone. Attach to handle.

*Fisherman Alley
(1 coin in screen with tunnel to Middle of Nowhere/Outskirts)
To the left...

Go left (2 coins here). Go forward twice. Go right. Click on pier (1 coin here). Go to end of pier - note fisherman with no bait for his hook.

To the right...
Large fellow blocks the way.

He needs a light for his cigarette. Give him the lighter while he is gesturing with an open hand and he will fly away.

*Butcher's Market

Click on the table. Retrieve flesh eating maggot (3 coins here).

*Aristocrat's House (building on the right)

Go into the basement (3 coins here). Take cheese from mouse trap.

*Museum
(3 coins in entryway with Tickets and Souvenirs sellers)
Ticket-taker won't let you in without a ticket.

Buy a ticket from the ticket seller and everything (flower, wooden egg, pamphlet, and key) from the souvenir seller. Click each item, then on your coins and place them in the indicated silouhettes, then "buy".

Go forward. Give ticke to Ticket-taker (1 coin here).

Go forward. Go left - note the missing balloon. Return to main hall - note the closed door at the end due to theft. Go right (2 coins here). This is where the theft took place - note the sign describing the exhibit as the egg collection.

Place wooden egg in 2nd-from-the-left spot in display case.

*Butcher
(1 coin in the front room)
Creepy butcher through the small window is thirsty.

You will buy him water at the Pharmacy.

*Wall Street

Click on building on the left. Librarian is protective of its balloon. What might distract a librarian?

Give it the museum pamphlet. Balloon floats up and away.

*Pharmacy
(3 coins in Pharmacy interior, with the spigot and the test tubes)

Buy everything from the pharmacist (blade, water, arsenic, pain killer)

*Wall Street alley (next to Pharmacy)
To the left...

Click around the corner (3 coins here). Look in bin/trash can, collect pearmain (1 coin here).

Up the ladder...

Click up the ladder twice (1 coin here). Click up the ladder once more. Retrieve the balloon.

*Tenement House (building on the right)
(2 coins in the front room with the wacky-moving clock.)

Click to the left (1 coin here). That guy looks like he's in pain...

Give him the strong pain killer.

*end of Wall Street (wall in the middle of the screen, in the distance)
(1 coin in the screen with just the wall and some plants peeking over the top)
To the left...

Go left. The little man wants revenge. What might help him with that?

Give him the arsenic.

To the right...

Go right - note the locked door in the wall.

Head back the way you came...
*city Gate (to the left of the Butcher's Market)
Gate Keeper won't give up his keys.

Distract him with something shiny...

Give him the big shiny golden key bought in the souvenir shop.

Go back a step and now you can pick up the dropped keys.

*Aqueduct (right from City Gate, also accessible on the left from Butcher's Market)

Click on the right of the screen, among the archways - note the yawning head on the wall; note its jewelry/medallion.

Click on door with sign over head reading "district closed due to infection" (1 coin here). Use a rusty key on the door.

*Forbidden District
To the left...

Go left and enter hole - note the sound the Sand Witch makes... sound like an animal? (3 coins here).

She doesn't want plain cheese.

You're going to make her a sand-wich.

To the right...

Go right. Click on the visible doorway. There's a chicken. Click on the chicken and then on the falling egg before it breaks. Go back one screen. Click to the right just to the left of the wall that covers that side of the screen. Go into the building (1 coin here). Go upstairs. Look out the window - note the giant with one hand open; note his medallion.

Head back the way you came...
*Fisherman Alley

Go back out through the Middle of Nowhere tunnel to the Outskirts.

*Outskirts

Remember that locked door?

Use a rusty key to open the door. Open the oven and take the small loaf.

Return to Fog Haven (via Fisherman Alley)...
*Fog Haven

Go to the end of the pier. Put the maggot on the end of the hook. Click on the fisherman. Um... That's a bit.. big, isn't it?

Click again and a fish will come up. Take the fish.

Return to the Butcher's Market...

Start divvying things out - who wanted the water?

The Butcher. Give him the water, then go back a screen, then forward again. He left you a Faberge egg on the window ledge.

Combining things...

Use the knife on the limburger cheese and the small loaf. Combine the limburger cheese slices and the loaf sliced in half = limburger cheese sandwich. Who wanted a sand-wich..?

Take the sandwich to the Sand Witch in the Forbidden District - she will give you a bronze egg.

Use the knife on the fish. Hey, a medallion! Where have I seen a medallion before..?

On the yawning statue and around the giant in the Forbidden District's neck.

Return to the Aqueduct (via Butcher's Market)...
*Aqueduct

Click on the archway on the right to view the yawning statue. Click on its mouth to get it to open then pop the pearmain in. The medallion will fall off. Go back a screen to pick it up.

*Forbidden District

Go back to the giant. Put both medallions in his open hand and the closed hand will open, giving you the silver egg.

Return to Wall Street (via Butcher's Market)...
*Wall Street

Go back to that locked door. Use a rusty key on it. The little girl (?) there looks sad. What might cheer her up?

Give her the flower. Follow her into the building on the right (forget the chalk; you can't pick it up) (2 coins here). Take the golden egg.

Return to the Museum (in Butcher's Market)...

The order of the eggs is: chicken, wooden, bronze, silver, gold, faberge (not that it's hard to figure out). Return to the main hall. The closed door is now ajar with all the stolen eggs returned. Go through the door. Go right. The painting is missing something, isn't it..?

Put the balloon in the painting.

Go back to the left twice and up the stairs (1 coin here). Return to the main hall. Go into the left room - there is now a hot air balloon waiting to carry you off! Cut the strings holding it down then click on the balloon.

I appear to have misplaced some coins in the process and ignored a number of rooms/scenes that you can look at but that don't appear to advance the game any (maybe that's where some of those other coins were..?)

You'll notice I didn't buy the arsenic and give it to the guy asking for revenge. Apparently this isn't necessary and it gives you two extra coins.

Also there are some mysteries I haven't figured out, possibly red herrings, most notably the Cherry Embassy girl. If anyone has any ideas, please comment!

Lastly if anyone knows of any coins I didn't find, also comment!

40 COIN WALKTHROUGH

I got 40 coins. data and Katie beat me to it! Here's how...

Are you sure?

Checking Totals

  • You should get 10 before you leave Fisherman Alley.

  • You can get 34 before buying anything.

  • Buying the key (-2) should lead to 45 coins collected = 43 in pocket.

  • Buying the flower (-1) leads to 2 coins. (+1 net)

  • Buying the museum ticket (-4) at first leads to 2 coins. (-2 net)

  • Buying the sleeping pill (-1) _can_ lead to 10 coins. (+9 net)

  • To finish the game, you also need the pamphlet (-2), wooden egg (-3), water (-3), and the blade (-5).

  • Finishing the game adds 2 more coins... if you're good.

Still need more?
Detailed Walkthrough
The math is deliberately confusing so you can play it your way. ;)

  • In front of the CITY GATE, on the right.

  • Outskirts, to the left. At the far edge of the cliff.

  • Outskirts, to the right. Down, on a little outcrop that looks like a sausage.

  • Then look up at the moulding near the top right window.

  • By the round metal door: between the two rocks by the wall.

  • Enter FISHERMAN ALLEY. By the drain-water near the grating.

  • Left alley, click on the open window on the left. 2 coins on the sill.

  • FOG HAVEN. Turn left, click on the plant life. Right part of the screen.

  • Facing the long view of the dock, second plank from the left.

  • You should have 10 before you exit past the smoking giant.

  • BUTCHER'S MARKET. 3 on the table with the leg.

  • MUSEUM, under the windows. 1 on the left. 2 on the right.

  • MINUS

    -4 museum ticket

  • Right corner of the checkered floor.

  • Now to the art! In the eggs-hibit, on the floor down from the 2nd and 3rd holes.

  • To the left of the eggs-hibit in the back.

  • MINUS

    -3 egg, -2 key, -2 pamphlet, -1 flower
So out of the MUSEUM I have 7 coins. That's left from 19 collected.
Or you can leave the museum without buying anything from souvenirs, which leaves you with 15. See Totals above for another math check.

  • ARISTOCRAT'S HOUSE, lower level. 1 stuck to the wall. 2 on the floor to the left.

  • BUTCHER. Fish 1 out of the blood pool on the right.

  • Turn right to WALL STREET. PHARMACY floor. 2 on the left. 1 on the right.

  • TENEMENT HOUSE. 2 on the shelf by the clock.

  • 1 by the feet of the tenement dweller.

  • WALL STREET. 1 on top of the wall.

  • Alley with arch (next to the PHARMACY). Go one deeper, and there are 3 on the ground. (The fourth doesn't seem clickable.)

  • Rob the poor guy in the can ... 1 by his hand.

  • Go up the ladder and there's 1 to the left of the scared guy on the ledge.

  • You should have:

23 if you cleaned out the museum, 31 if you haven't shopped yet. This is left from 35 collected.

  • AQUEDUCT. 1 by the column. This should be the last free one before unlocking with the Rusty Keys. See Totals above for a math check.

  • After unlocking:

  • FORBIDDEN DISTRICT. 1 in the dark to the right. Look for the unpaired eyes.

  • Left. There's a pointing giant to the right... and he's pointing at 1 coin on the balcony on the left.

  • The SAND WITCH's hole has 3 coins on her dresser, almost near the wall. I think they might be loose or stacked.

  • To the right, now. The EGG HOUSE has 1 coin in the basket.

  • Keep going. The DARKENED HOUSE has 1 coin by the stairs.

  • Look out the window! By the giant, at the very top right are 2 coins.

  • Back to the OUTSKIRTS and the poor baker. 1 coin in the right front burner of the stove.

  • Back to WALL STREET. Through the unlocked door on right, our old friend has a coin on the right, by the steps.

  • Last rounds of spending:

  • -1 sleeping pill + 10 from the ARISTOCRAT = 9 coins in pocket.

  • -1 flower gets us 2 inside our WALL STREET friend's place, on the left near the caterpillar/knitting project.

  • Finishing the game needs 13 coins for various things.

  • Almost ready to go? You can end up with 38 coins in pocket.

  • At the back of the MUSEUM, go up the stairs on the left. 1 coin on the desk.

  • And as you rise in the balloon, keep the pointer over the left hand (on the screen) and grab the coin next to the figure right as it comes into view. There's the elusive #40!

Man this is even creepier than Daymare Town 1!

Why is there no official walkthrough? I love when Mateuscz gives a link to the walkthrough right in the game. :(
Here's where I am:

Bought everything for sale at the pharmacy and the souvenir shop, and used what I could. What I have left: knife, maggot, cheese, rusty keys (with two keys unused), and 15 coins.
I've got two slots left on the egg exhibit, haven't found the balloon (I assume it's floated somewhere), and am seriously weirded out by the strange girl in the Cherry Embassy.
Ok I just sliced up the cheese with the knife purely by accident. ^_^ Still don't know what to do with them. I'm going to try them on the cherry girl. No, that didn't work. *sighs*
Ok, officially stuck.

Hoorah! I'm really glad to be playing this. I've been at it for a good long while now, and I'm a little stuck.

Reply

Heck, I'm not even that far. I just found my way into town and I'm already stuck.

Great news! I love whenever there's a new Skutnik game, and now twice in a week!

Reply

I might as well give some hints/spoilers for where I've gotten so far:

FIRST AREA: Hint:

To open that round hole, you need to hold the pull-rope down, but you can't climb into it while holding it down... maybe if you tied something heavy to it?

Solution;

Pick up stone to the left of the main door. Use hook and string on stone. Use result on pull-rope.

SECOND AREA Hint:

That big guy is trying to smoke... but his cigarette isn't lit...

Solution:

Place your lighter in his open hand.

I'm not sure how to hint/spoil the third area, since it's so large and there's no much to do, and I'm not done yet. So if people have questions I hopefully can answer them.
I've gotten a little farther:

I found the ladder area with the balloon at the very top and the pearmain in the trashcan at the bottom. I used the pearmain on the wall hanging in the aqueduct, and used the medallion I got from the wall hanging on the palm of the giant in the infected area.
Now I have: maggot, knife, 21 coins, rusty keys (two keys on ring), cheese slices, and balloon.
Also I can't figure out how to pick up the chalk.

Reply

umm, anyone else having troubles loading it on a mac osX?
i get the "daymare town 2" title and no start/play button :( . it's really weird cause i never had problems with Skutniks games before. o_0

Has anyone...

...picked up the chalk yet, or know what it might be for? I have one key left, so maybe the answer is in whichever door I haven't opened.

Joye -

There's a second medallion! It's inside the fish you get when you take the flesh-eating maggot from the Butcher's whatever to the fisherdude in Fog Haven. Then you'll get an egg from the giant in the Forbidden District.

I've bought everything there was to buy (don't know if I found all the coins in the process, though..) & used everything I can figure out, so far, so I have:

17 coins, 1 knife, 1 balloon, 2 rusty keys, small limburger cheese slices, and strong painkiller.

What do the Cherry Embassy girl and the Sand Witch want..??

I have 7 eggs filled in, middle slot still open.

Reply
death13a May 31, 2008 2:52 AM

Maggot

goes on dock on hook and second fish which then knifed and in desert on hand.

Reply
ViciousBits May 31, 2008 2:52 AM

Oh, duh. Figured out where the painkiller goes (and found another coin I'd overlooked).

Anzhela, what's the other door you've used a key on..?
I've already opened the ones in

the aqueduct & wall street.

Reply
Anzhela May 31, 2008 2:52 AM

The Sand Witch wants...

A sandwich made from the sliced cheese and the loaf of bread from the room you can open in the outskirts.

Reply
ViciousBits May 31, 2008 2:55 AM

Awesome! Thanks Anzhela!

Reply

Joye, swap info with me. I'm not as far and farther than you. :-)

I've got pear, knife, sliced cheese, balloon, three keys, and a piece of fish, 11 coins, and 3 slots left on the eggs.

The balloon has floated up the ladder which can be found in an alley off the pharmacy/tenement scene, just slightly 'past' the steps to the pharmacy.

The maggot can be used as bait. Go down fisherman's alley -- alley, right side main streen; go back; left side of screen; all the way down; right side of screen; pier. You'll get a fish from that, eventually, which can be cut with the knife.

No idea what to do with balloon, cheese, or pear. No idea what to do with the weird plant on the left of fishman's alley end, or the kite-flyer, or the cherry embassy. Does the clock in the tenement do anything? Aristocrat's house after sending death away?

Thanks Anzhela, I hadn't discovered that there was an extra room there.

I have

27 coins so far, a balloon, a key and a knife and am stuck. The only thing I can imagine, would be to use the balloon with the pioneer ballon in the museum. Other than that I don't have a clue.

Thanks to Anzhela for her hint!
LS:

Aha! Thanks for the info about the dock! I had missed that area.
I don't know any of your mysteries either. :( I think the aristocrat is just the coins that you pick up in his drawer. Otherwise, they are red herrings, or possibly easter eggs. They are not necessary to beat the game.

I'm going to play it once more and try to do a walkthrough.

Reply

i also have some problems. when i click the play button only a blank screen with lighter and hook appears... :(. by the way i have mac osX

[Edit: Just reload the game window, or close the window and reopen it again. It should be fine the 2nd time. I'm using a Mac and it did the same thing to me at first. 2nd time was fine. -Jay]

Ok --

I have used up all the keys. (the last one goes to a door that's sorta blindingly obvious to the point of being overlooked...) I am convinced the solution to the last missing egg is in this room with the chicken and the basket, but I cannot figure it out. I still have a balloon I can't do anything with.

Reply
ThemePark May 31, 2008 3:24 AM

Did you already get the egg from the chicken? If not, you are right about the last one being there. Otherwise I don't know if there's two in there.

Me too.

All I have left is coins, the knife, and balloon. I don't know what to do with the hen, or the thing on the wall next to the giant I gave the medallions to.

Reply
ThemePark May 31, 2008 3:27 AM

Anzhela and LS possibly:

You get an egg by clicking on the hen, then catching it before it hits the ground. If it does hit the ground, just click the hen again for another egg.

Now would anybody care to tell me which egg I'm missing?

I've got gold, silver, bronze, wooden and hen eggs.

Fabrige, but blessed if I can remember which came from which. Where did you get your 5? Hen = regular, and giant I think was bronze? But that's all I remember.

Anzhela May 31, 2008 3:32 AM

Oh, thanks ThemePark! I must have done it already. Unless I gave it to the wrong person. Hehe.

I'm trying to remember where you get which eggs, but my memory is kind of mushy at this hour.

Reply
ThemePark May 31, 2008 3:33 AM

LS, I don't remember where I got them either, except for the two you already mentioned. :( But I'm missing the egg on the right.

Reply
Michelle May 31, 2008 3:39 AM

Ok, all I have left is 24 coins and a knife. Help??

Reply

Regarding the painkiller:

I ended up giving the pill to the guy in the tenement and putting the aristocrat out of his misery with the arsenic. You don't get a coin bonus for that one, but you still finish the game with plenty to spare.

Reply

Yay! 32 coins. I think I'm still missing something though. It seems like there might be more than one ending.

Reply

Apparently the

painkiller can be used in two places. I poisoned the aristo, and gave the painkiller to the guy with the headache in the tenement.

ThemePark:

Ok, let's see. Hen, giant, butcher, sandwich, souvenir, flower. I think that's right... though not necessarily in that order.

Anzhela May 31, 2008 3:42 AM

Hoorah! Finally out! I feel kind of silly now that I was stuck for so long. Thanks for the hints, guys.

Oh yeah, and the chalk:

You don't need to pick it up. Either it's a red herring or an easter egg I missed.

No wonder I was confused about who I gave what.

Did anybody give the...

Arsenic to the man in Wall Street shouting, "Revenge! Revenge!"...? I did, I think that's another place where I got confusticated.

ThemePark May 31, 2008 3:46 AM

Thank you, LS!

It turns out I was missing the butcher egg. I didn't know I'd have to go back to him a third time to get the egg.

And about the arsenic:

That too can be used in two places. I gave the headache pill to the aristocrat, but gave the arsenic to the guy who wanted revenge.

Wahoo! I made it! 33 coins!

oh, and, by the way,

you dont need the chalk

Michelle:

How many eggs do you have?

Reply
Michelle May 31, 2008 3:50 AM

Anzhela: I have all the eggs and I'm in that last room in the museum. I dealt with the balloon...Did I miss something somewhere?

Reply
ThemePark May 31, 2008 3:52 AM

Hmm...stuck again.

I still don't have a clue where to use the last key, I can't find a closed door besides the one at the very beginning. And I still feel like I need to use the balloon on the basket in the museum or the hen house, but I can't.

Reply

where do you find the

cheese

Reply

nevermind...i found it :D

Reply
Anzhela May 31, 2008 3:53 AM

If you've used the balloon, go back to the room across from where you placed the eggs in the museum and you should be right on your way out. :-)

Reply
Michelle May 31, 2008 3:54 AM

Ahh, thank you! It never occurred to me to recheck that room >.<

how i can get the keys?

Have you opened any more doors in the museum? There are more pictures to be seen, one of them is missing something.

Anzhela, d'oh!

Escaped with 31 coins. Now I just wonder what the last key was for.

Oops..

I killed the sick man with arsenic and gave the guy in the tenement house the painkiller. No coins for me, I guess!

I really loved the first one, and this one was just as great. I didn't enjoy the coins as much as the strange bird watching thing in the first one though, I thought that was kind of neat. Used one tiny hint and finished with 16 coins left (not as good as you guys but I'm very ready to sleep now!)

Also there are some mysteries I haven't figured out, possibly red herrings, most notably the Cherry Embassy girl. If anyone has any ideas, please comment!

Lastly if anyone knows of any coins I didn't find, also comment!

Also, Jay, if you want to tidy up my walkthrough so that it's not so scrolly, please do. I didn't know you could nest spoiler tags.

If you finish with no coins left, the ending says:

Congratulations! You have left daymare town. But you have no coins left in your pocket...what a shame...

There are a few mysteries still unsolved:
1. What can you do with the clock in the house with headache man? Will it open if you turn it to the right time?
2. In the ally with the ladder, you can click on the compass-looking thing on the wall to zoom in on it. Can you do anything with it?
3. Below the medallion-man's hands, there are two circles connected by a line or a string or something that you can zoom in on. Anyone found a purpose for this?

Coin-through for Daymare Town 2

This is NOT a full walkthrough for Daymare Town 2, it's just a guide to collecting as many coins as possible. I don't think you get any rewards for collecting lots of coins. Apart from kudos. You get kudos.

The coin-through is in chronological order, and assumes you get 10 coins from the Aristocrat. Spoiler tags by section.

I ended up with 37 coins at the end after buying all items and giving the Strong Painkiller to the aristocrat. It's possible to have 39 by not buying the Arsenic (though there is no special message or anything, Scrooge…:p)

LIST OF PRICES (Total = 23 coins)

Museum Ticket - 4
Wooden Egg - 3
Big Shiny Golden Key - 2
Meadow Flower - 1
Museum Pamphlet - 2
Home Made Blade - 5
Distilled Water - 3
Arsenic - 2 (Optional)
Strong Painkiller - 1 (Optional)

OUTSKIRTS

1. On the ground in front of you.
2. On the ground where you get the Just An Ordinary Stone.
3, 4. Go right from the start screen. Two coins here. One is on a ledge above you, and the other is on an outcrop of rock below the path.
5. Where the circular metal door is: coin in the corner.

FISHERMAN'S ALLEY AREAS

6. When you enter from the pipe: coin on the floor near the drain.
7, 8. To your left, in the alley: the second windowsill on the left has two coins.
9. In the reed patch near the kite-flying person: coin on the ground on the right (must be in close up view of reeds).
10. On the left side of the first part of the pier as you look down to the fisherman in the distance.

BUTCHER'S MARKET AREAS

11, 12, 13. On the wooden platform with the horse leg.
14. Aqueduct: At the entrance to the Forbidden District, beside the pillar on the left.
15. Butcher's: in the pile of blood on the right.
16, 17, 18. Museum: In the entranceway, all on the floor.
19. Museum: On the floor in the room with the ticket taker, in the right corner.
20, 21. Museum: in the Egg room. Both on the floor, one in the foreground, the other behind and to the left of the Egg collection.
22, 23, 24. Aristocrat's House: in the basement, two on the floor on the left, one stuck in the wall halfway up.

WALL STREET AREAS

25, 26, 27. Pharmacy: on the floor, two in the left corner, one on the right.
28, 29. Tenement House: in the hallway on a shelf
30. Tenement House: in front of the person in pain
31, 32, 33. Alleyway: at the end of the alleyway, on the floor by the trashcan.
34. Alleyway: in the trashcan, below the sleeping (?) person's hand
35. Alleyway: up the ladder, beside the black figure
36. End of the street: on the wall ahead of you
At this point you should get through some of the game events, buy some items etc. And get the keys from the gatekeeper, so you can continue following the coin-through.
37. In the area with the Chalk: on the floor by the doorstep
38, 39. In the house with the Flower-taking man and the Golden Egg: two coins on the floor on the left.
40 to 49. Ten coins from the Aristocrat's drawer, when you give him the Strong Painkiller.

OUTSKIRTS HOUSE

50. On the right burner of the cooker in the house where you find the Small Loaf.

FORBIDDEN DISTRICT

51. In the dark passage from the Aqueduct: in the shadows on the floor on the right.
52. Going forwards and left to where you can see the Sand Witch's burrow: on the balcony on the upper left.
53, 54, 55. In the Sand Witch's burrow: three coins on the right near the lamp.
56. Where the chicken is: coin in the basket
57. In the dark house, downstairs: in a dark corner by the staircase
58, 59. Where the giant is: two coins on a ledge in the top right corner

MUSEUM (END)

60. On the desk in a room in the final area in the museum.

Really like these games. I managed to get out of Daymare Town with 30 coins. I had one key left over on the rusty ring and this object stayed in my inventory when I clicked play again. Refreshing the game page made it disappear though. Regardless, if anyone else can repeat that, then its probably a glitch Mateusz would want to be told about.

Whoops. I don't know why I lost formatting on that first paragraph between "Checking Totals" and "Detailed Walkthough". Sorry!

Well this is driving me crazy:

I really wanted to pick up the chalk and give it to the tenement dweller. But I guess it just won't move!

I have a strong hunch that messing with the tenement clock will yield more coins than saving the aristocrat. It just goes with the overall theme.

I agree with Trapper about the unsolved mysteries. I also wonder

if Cherry Embassy means something? I mean it took me a long time to figure out "Sand Witch", and then I fell over laughing. And is the Lionfish supposed to sting anyone? That description was tantalizing. I was so hoping to slap someone or something with a wet fish.

I feel bad about the squatter/baker figure. And stealing from the fellow in the can. Everyone else was helped... were they supposed to be helped?

Noting that there are a lot of naked figures wandering around... nothing awful. Well, nothing more awful than the scary atmosphere. Hehehe. I'm petrified of the girl, and yet I want to figure out how to get more art out of that sequence. So much depth in this game!

Speaking of depth, at the very end don't forget to read the titles on the art. *evil laugh*

Finally! I loved the 1st Daymare game. This one is just as intense. Nothing but top notch entertainment from the best. 3qtcn8

I'm pretty sure the only difference is that Shudog grabbed the last coin in the

End Balloon Rising Scene

which I couldn't get (due to not being quick enough on touchpad). If you added it to my coin-through, mine would be as complete (not as convenient to use perhaps, but equally good).

you can get 11 coins before you leave fisherman alley

Reply

sorry for the double post, but you can feasibly get 41 or 42 if you don;t get the arsenic (I only got 39 when i DID get the arsenic, so i missed one along the way there, so that's why maybe 42)

1. high scores so far is 43 coins? O_O
2. is there anything to do with the key on the title screen?

I love this game. What riveted me to the computer at first was the fact that the characters look like they came straight from the pen of the great Finnish/Swedish illustrator/writer Tove Jansson (and I was delighted to read in the older thread for Daymare Town 1 that cami had the same impression). Little creatures that just stare without ever saying a word come up in her works now and then, too.

What keeps me coming back is the unique atmosphere and the feeling that there are still things left to discover. Keep up the good work, Mateusz!

Groogokk: That was EXACTLY my impression all through Daymare Town 1 and even more so in this one. Glad to see other people thought the same way. I'm pretty sure she was actually Mateusz's inspirational source here, since I'm pretty sure he's Swedish or something. She's also a great inspiration for my drawings as well. I've always wanted to make some sort of creepy surreal game in this same vein, but I always tried to make each background super-detailed like Jansson always did. This way is much better... loose, quick, suggestive lines with occasional areas of detail which stand out.

Groogokk, now that you mention it, those creatures actually do remind me of something out of the Mumi troll universe.

Did ANYONE notice that the clock is not a real clock?
It has 10 dials, not 12.
That means that there is no noon, and 14 is not what you anticipated it to be.

Trippy.

I first played this long ago and think it's one of the best games ever. But just recently, I replayed it for about the 10th time and FINALLY got that last 41st key! There are a few comments about more but they're all talk, no proof. There are definitely 41 and it is possible to grab that last one going up.

Does anybody know what to do about the Cherry Embassy chick?!?

Reply

I have an important question: is it normal for the cherry embassy girl to look like she wants to murder you or something? And for my second question: is it normal to scream like a little girl when you are playing at 1:00 a.m. when you see her doing that?

Reply

1. of all I think

the guy at the cherry embassy is a man, since he has a black beard...

2. has anyone noticed that

the guy in the pharmacy has a ballon in a jar in the back ground ?

3. I think the guy in the

butchers house is actually the one skinning ppl. he has scars in his face...noticed ?

4. if you play a second time in a row,

without reloading the game you will notice that you have the last unused key from the game before in you inventory...you will not be able to finish the game a second time, because at some point the key will just move above one of the other items. So you will not be able to use one of your gadgets...

5.whats up with the

(dead) person in the garbage can ? has anyone info aout that ?

6. what about that

little guy sitting in the window next to the giant ? what is he good for ?

tell me your thoughts on that

DayMare Town 1 and 2 were 2 of my VERY first games as a level 2 gamer and they were great ones to break me into gaming!!! I loved both of them even though it took me 3 times each to figure them out and a walkthrough on the 3rd try. I ended up buying everything in DT 2 and still ended up with 33 coins and watched the 34th one slowly fade out of my site so it is possible to end up with at least 34 if you're fast enough and if you buy everything. I look forward to a part 3!

I played this lovely game many times, tried hundreds possibilities, but never earned more than 41 coins.

What's with the Canadian guy who submitted three times to the scoreboard with 43 coins about 3 weeks ago? There something those here are missing?

Reply

I think I know how he may have done it- he may have re-played the game enough times with one instance of the game, and used the key glitch people refer to, used the extra key to open the baker's house at the very start (and essentially using those keys up before getting further keys from the gatekeeper, I wager), and ended up gathering at least three keys after three play-throughs, so he never needed to buy the gold key for the gatekeeper, thus saving on two coins.

However, I have not been able to replicate the key glitch that everyone mentions.

Vendelino: It says 'Score higher than 50 to get a Gold Medal!' for me, not 45.

Ok...I have a really silly question, which makes me think there is something wrong with my game...I can't figure out how to buy things!? Like, I have enough money, and I have tried clicking on everything possible to buy, and it only comes up with the little buying page with the "cancel" button on it and won't let me buy things! AUGH! Please help!

@Claire
when shopping

You have to drag the coins to the shaded areas on the menu and then once they're all full buy will appear.

yay! I got out of the town!

you go to the museum, and go to the room, that was locket before, one of the pictures is a man with a balloon...but no balloon! so put the balloon in the picture, go to the room with the broken hot air balloon, but no it is not broken!! (omg) cut of the string and hop on!

I used all of my keys. The only thing I had left at the end was coin and knife. I'm not really sure about the pain pill. I guess it's best to give it to the sick guy in the bed. You get 10 coins if you do. If you give the pain pill to the guy at the Tenement house he just smiles at you. Also after you use that last key the guy in the Cherry Embassy turns around and looks really mad, but doesn't do anything that I know of.

It won't work! It won't unlock for me when I use the rusty keys. A little help here, please?

Ok thanks whoever commented and edited after my last comment. But do you know how to get past the part when the guy who wont let you in has the big gold or silver shiny key then he drops his other ones then go back once then pick up his keys then go to the Outskirts then to the gate then on the walkthrough it says to unlock the gate in the Outskirts but it wont let me! Please help me! And also I thought the Cherry Embassy and Butchers would be scary but they arent ( lets say its a little scary for a 1 - 2 - 3 year old) !

I think I found a 41th coin.
In the tunnel between the outskirts and Fisherman Alley just right of the figure on the right is another coin. I don't have proof because I came out with 40 coins in the end but only because I missed grabbing the very last coin at the end from the man sitting on the wall as you rise in the balloon.

Only a year ago I started playing games via BigFish and when I found Daymare, I was excited. It was different from every other game I had tried. I enjoy a little macabre and Daymare 2 foot the bill for sure! The butcher scared me. . . the person in the Cherry Embassy scared me. . . I was superbly thrilled when I accidentally found the medallion in the little fish! I was going to cut off the poisonous stingers with the homemade blade and then, wow, the fish disappeared and there was one of the two medallions I needed! What I want to know is where are the other two coins? The high score is 43. After many, many attempts, 41 coins is all I can find. I managed once to get the 41st coin at the very end, but didn't save my score. Someone is listed as having 43 coins. Any players know how that happened?

The woman in the Cherry embassy needs something from you . Find it and give it to her and she won't seem scary. I couldn't figure this out until I bought the high def version.

Can you confirm that works in the non-HD version? I've been all over that area and haven't found that item.
