SonicLoverIt advertises itself as a mix between Minesweeper and a roguelike dungeon crawler, but Quikding's Cavesweeper isn't quite either... it's something all its own. In it, you're tasked with exploring a single, linear cave, equipping weapons and armor you find within, collecting gold to spend on various goodies, completing various quests, and slaying all sorts of monsters... the last of which you do by unmasking tiles in a Minesweeper-esque grid.

Everything is done by clicking, or tapping if you're playing on iOS or Android. Whenever you face a monster, you're presented with a 5x5 grid of squares. The numbers at the bottom show how many tiles of each color are hidden in the grid, and there can be as few as two or as many s four different colors. Click a number, then a square to guess at its color. Guess right and the tile will be uncovered, but guess wrong and the monster will attack you and inflict damage on you... and sometimes worse! Once a tile is uncovered, the number on it indicates how many squares adjacent to it, though NOT diagonally, are the same color, with no number meaning 0. Uncover the whole grid without letting your health bar drain completely, and the monster drops dead. If things get too rough, use a potion to recover some of your health and remove your status effects, or a magic wand to uncover safely a square of your choice. Between monsters, you'll encounter a variety of more helpful characters, like treasure chests that contain valuable equipment, shopkeepers you can buy items and equipment from, and miners that give you a chance to earn more gold. The game lacks polish in various areas and it's a little hard to get the hang of how things work, but it's surprisingly addictive once you get it, just like a game should be.

Play Cavesweeper

Wow, no comments? I find this game absolutely addicting. Different enough, challenging enough, and pretty easy to pick up.

Nice little game.

But, either I am misunderstanding something about the game, or I keep running into a bug were the numbers on the squares are incorrect.

Like this?

Since a blank tile means "0", it's basically the same bug.

I still enjoy the game. But when you get one like that first one where there are more than one on a board that are incorrect, it can end your game pretty quickly.

I've run across that bug as well, but it's not a board bug but a display bug. If you click the tile with the same colour chest once more, the number will then appear as it should.

Sadly, I've seen the wrong number bug on both blank and numbered tiles and it does not correctly update. I'd love to rate the game higher, but that's a pretty fatal flaw for a minesweeper style game.

Just to clarify...

I am experiencing the wrong number nug in the browser version (win7, chrome). I don't know if this bug affects either of the mobile versions.

I encountered the same bug on the ipad version!

Pretty annoying to run into on what I presume is the bossfight.

Fun game otherwise.

I'm enjoying the game too and rarely come across the number bug.
Can anyone explain the weapons? I don't know what Regen and Reveal are. I presume HP is Health points. Which is best to collect?
