Babylon Sticks: Tetricide comic

A custom casual gameplay comic created exclusively for JIG by Babylon Sticks creator, James Francis.

"In case of pixel hunting, use sledgehammer." :)

I love it! A much need feature when I'm playing a game.
Good job!

Okay, but in order to break the glass to reveal the axe you need a hammer, which can be found inside the safe. The combination to find the safe can be found by finding all the...

Forgive me, but how did he break through a brick wall with an ax?

Persistence. Anything can be broken if you're dedicated enough.

Amen to that, logic be darned!

There was already a stress fracture there. ;)

SonicLover December 17, 2009 5:35 PM

For that matter, where did the debris that made up the wall go? I only see a few fragments of brick and plaster, much less than what would make up the missing section of the wall unless the builders were on a REALLY tight budget.

hilarious. thank you.

Izydor Ingwar I. December 17, 2009 5:57 PM

Roseate Spoonbill: it's a fire axe, it has a pick on the other side of the cutting edge.

As for the missing bricks and plaster - duh, it's obvious he stuck it all in the mousehole. I always do that before the whole escape thing. It's, like, one of the Basic Rules of Room Escaping. Number 17, if I remember correctly.

Love it :-) You've got to make this a regular feature Jay!

Is it really an escape game if there isn't a screwdriver?

Oh, wait, sorry, it's under the cushion on the couch. Darned pixel-hunting.

omg funny

WHAT? A room escape room without a trash can? That's weird.

I think this perfectly sums up my feelings on the entire room escape genre! Love it!

I was about to try to recreate that rubick's formation, but it's impossible! The frontmost topwise corner has white next to yellow!

At least, I don't think that is supposed to be orange...

Fritware and LSN: I was about to remark on the absence of a couch. :)

This comic is great, though! This is what I'd try to do if I ever found myself in a remarkably contrived room full of puzzle-unlocked boxes and furniture inexplicably bolted to the walls. How do I know that the logic-oriented, step-by-step path clearly determined by the specific objects around me, will actually lead to my escape?

Didn't one room-escape game already have an ending where you break down the door with an axe? IIRC, it was a satirical one, but you still had to go through a whole rigmarole to get the axe.

Does it say something that I clicked on the picture to get to the game, then got confused when it just went to the .jpg?

It's not a game. It's a comic.

this one is terrific! I laugh a lot and more when reading the comments.

I shall attempt a walkthrough:

Examine the clock, note its angle.

Examine the mouse hole, aha you got the rubick cube!

Try to solve the rubick cube. No no, not that way.

Remember the angle of the clock. try to imagine the hour hand pointing the mouse hole, and see where the minute hand goes.

Break the emergency glass with the rubick cube.

Hit the wall over and over at where the minute hand pointing at.

Congratulations! You escaped!

At where the minute hand pointing at?
Clearly a Japanese room escape game.

LSN noticed the same thing I did. This isn't a REAL room escape game - there's no waste basket!

But can an axe dismantle a radio?

@breakstress: Yes, but you won't be able to put it back together again.

Sorry kids I'm feeling mean! I feel like taking the axe to whomever made the game and gave me a key that didn't work on the ding dang door!

P.S. bet that would get me out the door.

There also appears to be a very large deficit of locked boxes and compartments :P

Also, wouldn't it be easier to use it on the door, instead of the wall?

breakstress December 27, 2009 6:57 PM

I see your point...

Turn around 50 times until you see the pixel that is one hexidecimal color code character different than everything around it

Click said pixel, find the piano that pops out of the ventilation duct

Play Symphony No.9 in D Minor, Opus 125. Proceed to feel sick, a la Ludovico treatment

Get sick and tired of all this nonsense, break glass, get axe, destroy wall, run free

You are SO welcome.

Heh, I saw the picture in the "top rated games" section and thought, "That looks cool. I haven't played that one." =)

This makes me think of one of the most easiest escape room games -

Imagine, if you will, a room with a door, and all sorts of knick-knacks, puzzles, and hiding places galore, along with light switches, ultra-violet lights, books, keys - you know, the general stuff you see in an escape room game.

You try and click all around the place, but none of the things you find ever seem to make any sense together. You solve puzzles that never seem to do anything. Then you click the door to find out that it was never locked / it was ajar in the first place, and you could have escaped by just clicking the door right at the beginning.

Now that would be so interesting to watch...

JIGuest, I wanna make that game. :P

Anonymous January 11, 2010 8:58 PM

hahah he went insane because of an easy Rubik's cube... hilarious.

Where do you even click to play the game? I can't find a way.

[Edit: That's because it's a comic, not a game. It is even identified as such above. -Jay]

an axe makes any escape game easy :]

Kathy, I strongly disagree. Ever played the sequel to Monster Basement? That was hard, & had an axe! Also,
"In case of pixelhunting, use randomclicking."
That's what I do. Or, for easy games,
..."Use hotspot-hunting." Great comic, like all the others. =)

Congrats, James
you managed to include, what can vaguely be interpreted as, a set up AND a punchline all in the same comic!
Keep it up and some day you might be able to write comics that a third grader would find funny!

No, you won't.

The comic seems to be gone. Either that or it's invisible :\

Oh never mind, you have to click on the link. It said "tetricide comic" so I thought it went to another comic.
