How do I get my maximum divine energy to increase?
There are three ways you can increase your maximum Divine Energy:
Raise your villager population (but if your population falls to a lower number, your energy level will also drop).
Put points into the Spirituality technology.
Find new relics (collecting already discovered relics will only replenish your energy, not raise the maximum level).
Virtual Villagers 5 has been my second favorite installment of VV. Although I easily beat it in 2 days, I find it to be quite an awesome game if you want time consuming fun.
I would suggest that if there was ever another installment of VV that they should make it more difficult, for people who want a challenge, like me.
If you want a challenge
try staring with only one adult, don't know if that would work but it might be harder, and if you go to menu then options you can set the difficulty to hard
Oh nevermind about the hard, for some reason this one doesnt have difficulty options.
hi, i apologise if someone has already posted an answer to this already. i had been waiting for my power to build up so that i can use time warp on my Heather Master Builder, but when i came back to the game i had one of the occurrences where the Heathen "sees how much better the other side is and wants to join" i didnt realise when saying yes that the Heathen was the Master Builder, so now my Heathen Master Builder has converted without accomplishing the puzzle... so my question is two fold... how do i complete the puzzle without the heather master builder and where is the necklace piece???

Can anyone please explain the mausoleum puzzle better? In 6 days I still can't get those blue masks to convert, and I can't collect energy totals enough to keep sending bees over and over to keep the yellow and red masked heathens across the river for a long time.I can only use the lightening once, too much energy loss. Once I run out of energy, they come back and build it full again, leaving me nowhere nearer completing this puzzle. Yes I'm sure not doing it until the blues are converted is best, but the RED mask still goes and rebuilds, doesn't he, since he is doing that right now? Plus, I found that if you put a pregnant lady JUST right on top of a yellow mask, and hit the "M" key, you can freeze the heathen for quite a time. Didn't work with the rascal or one of the guards near the firewood, but it puts the moms to good use and lets you try to convert and work in peace. If you use others, you lose their productivity as long as they are freezing the guard.
So I've completed all the puzzles accept puzzles 9, 10, 14 and 16, and I can't complete 9, 10 or 16 without higher maximum energy and I'm struggling to get higher max energy because no new relics are popping up and I think the only other way to get higher max energy is to get a larger population and I need to buy more tech for that and I need more tech for Puzzle 14. So I'm kinda stuck, just wondering if anyone has any advice for me?

You might want to check out the walkthrough above the comments. Section IV is all about the puzzles, and Section III talks about technologies.
I had to restart my game because something must not be right in it. I did the mausoleum puzzle first now, the talked to blues were easily chased because lights flashing, and in this 2nd game no red mask was there, just used original cast to deconstruct except kept on gathering noni berries. My problem mainly is everyone seems to have things going faster than my game can. I built one shack but can only make one kid, then it keeps saying can't support bigger population. So now all get older and I can't make more kids, so also no more population as everyone gets older. How does anyone get lots of population "within a few hours" when my moms stay pregnant for about 4 days, literally? I can't let it run all night, but it is on average of 6 hours or more a day.And answers saying to use some power don't say how to GET that power. I have a master scientist and he will not direct the fixing of the aqueduct, either.Power comes so slow it takes over an hour to get 107, then one lightening strike uses that right up. If there is a glitch in my game I'd like to know, as someone said, it is HORRIBLY boring runing so slow, even set on "fast". please help, anyone? PS, I did get a villager placed exactly on top of the rascal once she stood still a second, hit M, and it froze them both for over an hour. But if anyone goes near them it seems to release the yellow one held and you have to grab them again. If I had a big population, I could freeze over every yellow guard and do my puzzles without them bothering me. But I think something is wrong with puzzles as it is like 340 to be pregnant and I can't make more than one baby before it says pop is maxed out...
Sorry, need to edit for clarity my last comment: I kept ONE villager collecting berries as others immediately deconstructed mausoleum after healing and converting the sick heathen.I would love it if others would say how long it took for them to get a pregnant mom to have a kid, and how long the lights flash before being able to talk to the blue heathens again. My lights flash for bout 4 hours after a talk, but sometimes if I quit and come back half hour later, the lightsare off. Really hating this game because you don't have any idea of what the timing should be or any ideas as to why you just can't get power, etc., in any timely manner. This speed it will take a month to finish...not acceptible to me.
hi can someone help me because I've destroyed all the totems except for the blocking on and I've got the lab all to myself but i cant get any tech well i can but its coming really really really slow and i really really really want to convert master science and master farmer purple heathens so can anyone tell me a glitch to get instant tech points thanks
[Numerous spelling errors fixed. -Moderator]
I need help i have 2 red guards on my totem and i want to get the fourth one gone what do i do!!!!
Kylie Wilson-Cullen -
There is a walkthrough above the comments and Section III talks about Totems.
I know another way to rip down the rainbow totem. it's simple, just swarm the bees on the scary heathen at the pool and he will hide underwater. when he is underwater [or on the other pool on the left] drag your villagers to the rainbow totem. you'll need to do this several times. you need 4 adults for this.
I got some weird problem....I dragged a master scientist to the board near where the purple heathen "thinks" a lot, and the board is full. Then he just stands there for a long while after "examining" the proof and doesn't really do much. Then he goes back down to think again. After that, the board just stays full instead of going blank like how it should become. How do i get the drawing board to get clean again....??
I have a population of 95, keep prompt me that I do not have enough housing to support population. How to build extra housing.
Immediate replies are very much appreciated.
Angeline Santiago -
The board should go clean after a few hours, if it doesn't then you may have a glitch in the game. You can contact the vendor where you purchased the game to see of there is a fix.
Deelis Ang -
You cannot build any more housing than you already have, all you can build is three huts that allow you a population of 90. If you want a population of above 90 you need to either convert some heathens (they will add to the totals) or finish a collection, which increases your maximum population by 5 villagers.
Can anyone tell me why my game has been playing since mid March and still has not shown the last puzzle item (bellows), nor has it had more than only 6 island events happen in all this time? Plus, I put 27 kids in the school area, to get the star for 25 kids there, and nothing happens. Why doesn't it register? If some say they finish the game in under a week, something seems wrong here. I know everyone loves the VV's, and I did the first one and loved it, but this next one I bought has let me down big time.If you must let things happen, then over a month is just too long to wait to finish one little game.
Angeline, you got me beat with your scientist. I put a master on the board, and got the drawings, too. But the heathen examined it then "celebrated the proof". He then went back to sitting, and later consulted with the chief, then sat again. Now every time a master tries to write a solution, the heathen does not even come over, nor did he lose his mask if first solution was correct. This is what I hate. How do you know if you have a glitch or if something else needs to be done? Heathen should say something, or erase the board if incorrect.
Glitch keeps moms nursing time at 123 minutes forever.
I have completed all puzzles and am currently working on the trophies. I've completed all but a few but I'm stuck on getting a person to master parenting which of course keeps me from getting a person to master all skills. The problem is that for some reason once I get this far into the game a glitch happens that keeps my mothers with baby. They stay at 123 minutes of nursing. It seems to be fine until I turn the game off then when I return all nursing mothers say they have 123 minutes left. It doesnt let them stop nursing even after they are old. I never mess with the clock on my computer and I only play the game the way it is intended to be played. I do use the options pause, slow, normal, and fast throughout the game when needed. But I dont think that has anything to do with it. Has anyone else experianced this glitch? Ive been through most of the first few pages and the last few pages of questions and didnt find anything on this glitch Im sorry if it was already answered but their are to many questions to go through them all. Please help me.
actually, I earned lots of tech points without dismantling the Knowing Totem. I think it's because I have 2 master scientists. *i still didn't dismantle it*
How do you get rid of the red mask heathens
I'm in a bit of a tricky situation. I can't take down the Knowing Totem. Until I take that down I can't take down the blocking totem (because I need to upgrade my construction to get a master builder)
I have 2 red heathens and 1-3 orange heathens guarding the totem and I can easily lure the orange ones away, but bees and/or lightning won't remove the reds from their post.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Easier way to dismantle rainbow totem
Use the bees to flee the scary heathen and while he is fleeing get your people and dismantle it if he comes back just add more bees it is better if you have a lot of energy so you wont run out of bees ^_^
When I first started with a new tribe, the heathen master doctor was converted in an island event. He never dropped a piece of the necklace. What should I do?
Urgh, like an idiot I chose a child without reading the stats...they dislike running. It's taking an age to get any of the relics or science stuff to where it goes and I really wish I could start again without losing my progress! Don't make this mistake!!
i got all of the statues, buildings, the mausoleum, got all the blue heathens, and the doctor, science, and farm heathens. but even with all that the builder heathen has somewhat disappeared. cant find him anywhere on the screen. i cant do the chief without him. any ideas on what i should do?
Why is that everytime I drop my master builder where the purple mask guy is and use the time warp on him he disapears then starts something totally different.
In my Virtual Villagers, I had an island event where the Heathen Master Builder converted to my village and I never got the necklace piece. Now that I need to solve the Speed Racer puzzle, I can't do it because the Heathen Master Builder can't compete with a villager to get the necklace finished. What should I do?
Okay so I have converted the orange and red heathens via earthquakes.after I finished all the puzzles I have a second chief and there are still 3 purple masked heathens left.... How do I convert them?
When I using time warp [puzzle 9] on a master building (to convert purple mask master building), it makes other things. He doesn't build at build contest... What should I do? :o33
I need help with my necklace pieces... I have only found two... but have all the totems and the garden, the pools, lake,Mausoleum, and the golden eye. I think I missed a piece when I finished the garden?! And I have NO CLUE as to where the other piece would be.... is there a way to find the two other pieces without starting all over?? :-(

I've converted all of the heathens and wish to increase my villagers' levels of devotion. How can I do this? When I drop them on the hand statue they want to polish it, which only increases their building skills.
Ok people this what I know you can get tech points when the red masked dude is guarding the totem well when it rains so you can get tech points then
Plato, you need to have the Time warp power in order to beat Mlaster Builder Heathen. Start to race and you realise your guy is a little bit slower, then....
Drag a master or adept villager to start the race, then use time warp godly power on your villager. This speeds your little villager a LOT faster and eventually you win the race along with the master converting and dropping a piece of necklace
Oh! Great news. I think the Devotion thing is for you to regain Energy points. I've noticed when I have a Master Devoter and other Adept Devoters, my energy gauge fills up a lot faster when they're honoring me.
Oh! And for the Blocking Totem puzzle, I used butterflies. Like, I spread the butterflies in a line to protect the totem and my Master Builder from all the orange heathens. The orange heathens were kept plenty busy with all the children my butterflies attracted.
Two ideas to add to your guide. :)
Convertin red and yellow masks...
if you use the fog of doom you can catch the yellow and red guards and convert them. ive only accomplished it with one. you have to do it 3-4 times the light shines over their heads. like the blue masks and takes about 2 hours to go away.
Have you completed the building contest? And Repaired the Aqueduct? those are the 2 you didnt mention.
I had a huge storm that place sand in everyone's eyes. I grabbed my villagers and tore down the rainbow totem, the knowlegde totem, the lightning and hungry totem! Lol! Working on the mausoleum and need to buy the game for the iPad in order to rip The lake's totem.
Hahaha! I found a way to get 4 totems knocked out in one go. I had a huge sandstorm suddenly hit my poor villagers and the heathens. I grabbed my villagers while the heathens ran away for cover. I broke down my rainbow totem, knowledge totem, hunger totem, and the lightning power totem. Now working on breaking down the lake totem and the one blocking the masoleum totem.
FOR ALL WHO ARE WONDERING HOW YOU INCREASE DEVOTION WHEN THERE ARE NO MASK PEOPLE.
If you want to increase devotion after the heavens are gone set your people to devotion and let them roam they will eventually go to the The Statue Of The Guiding Hand and will worship the hand witch will increase devotion slowly but surely.
"Tested on my file and my Devotee got master"
Sorry it's so long.
I only have two children at the moment and one of them ran into a daily event called "Innovation in Farming" and I'm afraid if the stranger would actually take my children away or if he/she(?) is actually going to teach them something about farming possibly raising my tech points or something. However I really don't want to loose this kids because they're the only ones I have to pick up the remaining 6 items that STILL won't pop up. Not to mention that I've had about three women to go indoors with someone(one of them more than once) and none of them are carrying any babies. I tried picking them up and putting them back down, that didn't do anything(maybe because it's been a while when they went indoors. However, I remember looking at a screenshot/close-upshot of the child being born in the hospital area in the instructions of the game when I first played it, that was when I had four-short free trials through AcerGames, but when I bought the game online and downloaded it the instructions won't show anymore. I tried placing one of the women on the hospital but all they do is study medicine. If you can answer all of my concerns that would be awesome. Also, get this, in a different tribe I was able to tare down the Rainbow Totem using only bees and my villagers. I didn't even have the clothing hut yet. It took quite a while but the heathens didn't bother repairing it so that was good. You basically have to wait until the red masked heathen to either pop-dissapear or to go in the small pool on the left of the totem and have adept builders(7 or 8 should do) carefully tare down the totem. However, if you've tore down any previous totems that would cause another red masks to come then the process is near impossible. You can simply guide yellow masks with any villager all the way to the opposite side of the map.
I'm finding it really hard to make like 4 master builders!! I only have 1 at the moment and like 2 adept builders who are soooo close to being master but I can't find anything for them to do for them to improve!! I have 2 huts and the clothing huts and am level 2 on everything and have partially completed the statue (completely) the only purple heathen left is the master builder! Any help???

the chief is no where to be found... and i've assembled the necklace, some help?
The purple mask master builder converted to my tribe in an event. I did not have a chance to do his puzzle yet. Am I never going to be able to now? There is no longer a purple master builder at the bottom left near the blocking totem.
Hello I just wondering. What to do with the mud hut. People were fixing it up, but what's it for? What is the point of it? Is it just decoration? Because I thought maybe I can raise the population or something but nothing really happens.
I left my village alone for a NIGHT with TONS of food once, came back, and THEY ALL DIED! None were nursing, 2 kids, and adults who liked running. P.S. I kept it on fast...
The chief sometimes wanders, his mask is pretty distinct and different from all of the others, so he is usually easy to spot. Did you complete the task that opens the blind idol and exposes the forest? The chief is usually in there, and you can't give him the necklace until you expose that area.
Unfortunately, this is a glitch in the game. If one of your purple masked heathens or the chief converts in an island event, you can't complete the puzzle.
Winona Miranda Karen Malloway -
The mud hut is merely decoration.
If you left it on fast, an island event that wiped out the food may have happened and they starved to death. This is why you shouldn't leave them on fast speed overnight, lots of things can happen that can wipe out your village.
thay might of eaten all the food and they starved to death.
AHHHHH my food won't go up (I'm finding it really hard to make like 1 master farmers!! I have none at the moment who are soooo close to being one but I can't find anything for them to do for them to improve!! I have the farm and noni bush and and am level 2 but medical on everything and have partially completed the statue (lvl 2) the only purple heathen left is the master builder! Any help???)!!!!!

How do you revive a villager that is already in the mausoleum?
I notice that every time I use Time Warp on a villager their age goes up by 2 years. Is this normal or a glitch? Couldn't find any mention of this side-effect in the guide
I beat the heathen at the build-off using the time warp, but he didn't covert! Any suggestions? It's really annoying.
i learned that i CAN do the dubble drop on fast mode!
i cant get my master builder to stay in one place when i put the time warp on them what can i do to keep from running everywhere so i can finish the purple heathen challenge
Hi! I've read the walkthrough, though I admit to not reading all ten pages of comments, just wondering why my time warp & fog of doom powers don't seem to work? I've used time warp on three different master builders but none of them "speed up" and they definitely can't beat the Heathen master builder at the building contest. Fog of doom has never worked either.... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! Mandy
Hey guys! I have a problem, one of my most important villagers got pregnant and now she won't let go of the baby. It keeps saying she has been pregnant for 430 minutes. I didn't reset my clocks or anything. Please help! She's my only Elder and I almost had her to the Jack of Trades!
Quick question: below the villager's fire camp, there seems to be a crack in the floor with a piece of wood across it. Does it do anything?
Hi everyone there i cant find the heathen master builder anywhere in the game can anyone tell me where to find heathen builder.
The Heathens that block the mosoleum are usually master builders.
My only real gripe with the walkthrough/info supplied is that unless everyone is color blind, the aggressive heathens are "actually" yellow. Only the heathen chief is orange. I found it very confusing to follow when you interpreted the aggressive heathens as orange colored when the only orange-masked heathen was the chief. Anyways, just making the editors/staff aware of the "boo-boo", I'm not personally attacking anyone as I was making a strongly worded note about the color differences in the heathens.
Btw, I refer to calling the yellow heathen child (the rascal) as "the brat" because he gets into everything, and sometimes the M key cheat doesn't always work on "him" since he somehow gets loose and goes back to attacking my kind-hearted villagers. Anyways, note/rant over. Hopefully no one's feelings were hurt as I was just clarifying an "error"?
I was wondering why the walk through says you can use the earthquake to pull down a building project and start over when you cannot. I sit here for hours trying to finish my collections but still can't seem to get them all. any suggestions?
Melinda Bivins -
You might want to search through the other comment pages because there are quite a few questions and answers about earthquakes.
I have 2 aggressive hethens kids!! :(
my heathen mommy was a guy. So it is not totally false.
Sharri Hall -
Once a villager is in the mausoleum you cannot revive them. To use the revive power you have to have their skeleton on the ground. Once they've been picked up and properly buried it won't work.
The time warp should not age your people, that appears to be a glitch.
Eliese Langan -
Was the master builder there trying to compete, or were they away somewhere? If they were there and were beat, they should convert. This may be a glitch, you should check with the vendor where you purchased the game to see if there is a fix.
If your bar is far enough along to power the time warp and fog of doom, and they don't work, then this may be a glitch in the game. Check with the vendor where you purchased to see if there is a fix.
The master builder, once you hit them with the time warp, are fast, you have to make sure that they are selected when you hit them with time warp, that way you can track them with the camera even if they run away.
Did you de-age this female? This is a glitch in the game, if a de-aged female gets pregnant, she will then hold onto the baby until she reaches the age she was originally. For instance, if she was 60 and you de-aged her, she will hold onto that baby until she gets to be 60 again. This is a glitch in the game and I am unsure if it has been fixed.
Rachel Potter -
No, that's just part of the scenery.
Your master builder should hang around near the mausoleum. If the master builder has disappeared, you may have run into a particular glitch. There is an island event that automatically converts a heathen, and sometimes it converts one of the masters or even the chief. If that happens, you can't complete the puzzles. Check with the vendor where you purchased the game to see if there is an upgrade that fixes this glitch.
The earthquake will only pull down a project that is under construction, if the project is complete the earthquake won't pull it down.
The fog of doom will also allow you to start to convert yellow and red heathens. I was dragging villagers around in the fog to try to convert blue heathens. when the fog cleared, I had a few yellow and red ones with lights over their heads (and no, I didn't mess with my computer clock)
The kids have low health! (it says "weakened" near health bar)
What do i do?
Jean Paul Farrugia -
Is that all the children of your tribe? How much food does the tribe have? Have you kept the fire going? Villagers will get sick and weak if food supplies are low or if the fire is not constantly going.
no, my food supply is actually 2974 in the food bin!
p.s: for puzzle 10 ( the puzzle to fill that dried part of island ), wait for rain then put rain power instead of waiting.
sorry if someone has already posted this
What about the fire? Your villagers will be weaker and will get ill more often if the fire is not constantly burning. Also, do you have someone set to healing so that they will cure any sick people?
As for puzzle 10, that solution (waiting for it to rain) is in the walkthrough above.
I have 2 things to say....
1.My fire is burning and 2.... What do i do?
Oh, and it doesn't work when i put someone on the child, unless they have "not feeling well" written on the action bar, so when i tried to put a doctor, nothing happened.
I have been addicted to this game from the start, but i cannot figure out how to convert the red masked heathens..... HELP PLEASE!!!!!
You make sure that there is enough food, make sure the fire is burning, and make sure that there are enough huts for the population, that's about all you can do.
Mars Bars -
Use the earthquake powers on the red masked heathens, it will make them think. Every time the earthquake power refills, use it again and keep using it. Eventually they will convert. The orange masks will also convert with the same strategy.
I can't get the revival power to work on the lake. Every time I try it, it says 'you need a person to use this power on'. What do I do?
Is the lake full to the top with water when you try to use the power? If so, drop a farmer in the lake and see what he/she does.
I need help with the Blocking totem. I have tried twice with my two master builders. The first time I used the lightning three times. The second I used lightning three times and the bees two times and only got to 80%. I think I need more master builders, but how can I get more? I finished the love hut and the two small huts, along with the clothing hut.
Joia Bonomi -
Is the statue complete at level 3? If so, you can drop builders on it to polish it, it will give them building experience. You can also drop them on the completed huts to "repair" them, which will also give them building experience. It is easier if you have 3 or more master builders to take down the blocking totem.
I'm having the same problem others have mentioned but have not seen anyone post a solution. Whenever one of my builders goes against the Heathen Master Builder, he/she warps into another task [like "fixing the hut", etc.] and never builds against the Master, no matter at what stage I apply the Warp Speed.
Dose anyone know how to demolish the hungry totem? I've tried getting my villagers to do it but the red/orange masks keep chasing them away. I really need to demolish it because my villagers are out of food and if I don't do it son I can't get them more food and they'll all starve to death.
I got the game on my ipod and after trying (and not getting anywhere on my own) i found this walk through- its been a big help and the only one i use for all the virtual villagers games now. i have completed all the puzzles, except the one on the right hand side. im guessing its the "my mommy is stranger than your mommy" i read the hints to complete that and am not sure how to exactly as all my heathens have been converted...
I just finished converting all the heathens. I now have a population of 106. The key to the game is having women in your population who are pregnant. They increase your energy, also when all heathens are converted the mud house looking thing will be fixed by the villagers.
I have a pop. of 24 and i have converted all blue and purple (except the master builder) heathens how do i get more energy to use the earthquake, revive, and time warp?
Please help when I drop try to complete the master builder mission I use the time warp power on my master builder to speed him up to beat the master builder heathan and soon as I drop him on the thing to build he starts than he runs off please help what can I do to make him stay building the structure ive tried 3times already please help thank you
April Burrell-Rountree -
You might want to check out Puzzle 9 in the walkthrough above for some help.
Are there any better answers on how to keep the time warp builder in place as he Finish trying to beat the master builder heathean cause I've I've tried three times to place my person on the Structure But he runs away not finishing Please help My master builder will not finish
I've assembled the necklace... When I put any villager on it it says " no apparent place to take it.... What do I do?!
Are you using the time warp on the builder before or after you drop them on the structure? Is the Master Builder around to compete? The builder will not complete the puzzle if the Master builder is not around to compete. If you continue to have problems, do you have a different master builder you can try with?
Have you finished puzzle 15 and revealed the interior of the forest, where the natives disappear when it rains? In order for the puzzle to work, you have to be able to see into the forest, and the chief has to be sitting in his chair in that area, otherwise they don't know where to take the necklace. Check and see if the Chief is wandering around, and wait until he goes back to his chair.
Sorry, had to be the 1000th comment! Great game, I'm having fun. =D
