no real inspiration, just messing around with fun musical tools
Another slow one, trying to play something like an actual tune. I would have liked the groove to have more of a shuffle feel. Alas, the limitations of the medium!
Listened to most of the submissions so far. I like MT's, Kero's, and hk's the most. My criterion is how little the results sound like what you would get if you just randomly highlighted squares :).

Sounds cliche, but this reminds me of the beach at sunset.
misterflood's and BND's are cool too. Dang it, JIG community, quit submitting entries, or I'll never get anything done today!
Also, is the app's name "Nudge" or "iNudge"? The URL suggests it's the latter.
[Edit: I believe the app's title is "Nudge", which is hosted at inudge.net. View source on the page and I think you'll agree. Either way is acceptable, though, me thinks. -Jay]

I don't know how the editors are going to drudge through all of this ;).
The drums are pretty fun. This is what I came up with.
Playing with the balance is quite fun.
Great game. Love stuff like this.
this app has great sounds, is nice and simple, and i digg it.
I'm not sure what I was aiming for in this one.

this is MY melodie

and one more
I let the sound of the "instruments" inspire me. I like how light and airy some of the sounds are, so I tried to make something that felt kind of like it was floating on a breeze! Not sure if I actually accomplished that or not haha. Fun little web toy, quite simple and easy to use. Great fun, and I love to hear it build up!
I quite like Keep.One.Step.Ahead's second one.
I started at the bottom and worked my way up. My piece is named:
Good Day!
because we all need one. :)
I would have liked it to be a bit more advanced. It's very frustrating when you get a good groove and the one note you are looking for is missing. Now everything you make sounds "kinda" good but also very boring. There are plenty of free sequencers out there that are lot more fun to play around with.
[Edit: The goal was to provide something simple that everyone could have fun with. Sequencers require a level of effort that would significantly reduce the participation level. That being said, we do have plans for a more advanced musical challenge coming soon, which you may enjoy. -Jay]
Basically just messing around.
Submission #2 - Simple and Clean
Less is definitely more. :)
http://inudge.net/inudge#/9hlj
Hope you enjoy.
Groovy!!
http://inudge.net/inudge#/edok
So many entries!
When Andre Michelle first released the ToneMatrix on his website I spent so much time playing with it... Nice to see it "grown up" into this.
My first little try:
http://inudge.net/inudge#/jzk0
I feel like I should be able to make something better considering I'm taking music theory >_>
oh ho ho...
I made one, too! Most useful thing I've done in school this week...
The fast ones were stressing me out, so I tried a slower groove.

This is a wonderful program and I would love to play around with it more if I had the time. It would also be wonderful if we could use a major scale instead of just a pentatonic scale. The pentatonic scale means that it's essentially impossible to write a "bad" note, which makes it more easily accessible to non-musicians (and also is the reason why every composition has a pleasing or mesmerizing quality), but it also limits the range of expression a bit. Adding the two extra notes needed to make a major scale would also allow non-musicians to learn about and experiment with dissonance.
LSN here. :D Anyone know how to have my username different here if I sign in through Facebook Connect, which I did this time?
Here's my first. Tentative title: Happy Fun Song
Oooh, my song "rux" :D
[Edit: I had to edit your nickname manually, LSN, but you signed in through TypeKey. Facebook Connect is coming, but hasn't been implemented on the site yet. -Jay]
This is a fun little toy. Here's something I made, it's not great but I was fiddling around with it to see how it worked.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/hms
Here's mine, I wanted to go against what it's easy to make, so here's my slow little japanese-sounding entry.
I like the program by the way, reminds me of the matrix thing on reason, which can only be a good thing.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/zm8
I made the drum beat and fiddled with the rest from there.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/184c
just seeing what it can do.
@KR "Less is More" :) Yes.
Nice piece.
@LSN Happy Fun Song
Wheee! :) Bubbles and Butterflies
There is so much talent here!
I'm pretty happy with this. It reminds me of JUNGLE HUNTING. Which I avidly do not partake in. But you know, something to get stuck in your head. :D
Just testing it out.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/11nk
First I had an idea so I made the first panel. Then I miss-clicked the second time and made cool sounds. So it's really just random stuff. :P
I spent hours on mine. If you can't think of somewhere to start, either do the drum part or draw a picture on the instrument you like. I did both :P
There's only so much you can do with 16 steps, but I think it turned out pretty good.
And another
Take two for Good Day
Here is Good Evening
I don't know how the "Jazz" sound happened. But here it is. I removed the higher tones and replaced with percussion. Now it is not as annoying.
This is WAY too much fun!
PROTIP: Right-click anywhere along the top portion of the widget and select "Clear all patterns" to start with a fresh canvas. :)
Nothing really special.

PROTIP: Double-click the panning control to reset.
tinkering with 'infinity'
Sweet little toy, here's a doodle : http://inudge.net/inudge#/4qc
ive been playing my snes a lot lately (tetris and dr mario) and i thought i would do my best with recreating FEVER theme
Churning out mini dance riffs
Good news, everyone! A JIG themed Nudge!
With picture art!
http://inudge.net/inudge#/br0z
(And yes, it spells bros. I love that too.)
@ ShadowScribe
OH WOW!! You made music and spelled the name of the song too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone needs to take a look and listen to INFINITY
mine is nice and slow:
good times. even better competition.
Here's my humble creation :)

My own attempt
Awesome! I used to play ToneMatrix, but I had no idea they were building a bigger version.
Anyway, here's my tiny composition: http://inudge.net/inudge#/tnq
There are so many awesome entries. It just shows you can do so much with so little.
Just messing around with it.
Another one, and I like it better than the first:
http://inudge.net/inudge#/7525
I started with the drum... And I let go my imagination.
dark funk
I can't stop making them. This one is more droning than the others
...I just listened to all of them. Fun stuff!
I think my favorites in general are the ones that are created based on the visuals, but then happen to sound excellent, too.
Never mind, I missed page 2. :P
http://inudge.net/inudge#/g3ui
very cool web toy
I made one that kind of sounds like a industrial printer with an Aphex Twin drumbeat. It is indeed possible to sound bad with this device
Inspired by early Herbie Hancock -
try this!
Here is a little piece of 80's art-rock a'la Laurie Anderson and such...
http://inudge.net/inudge#/z5s
Nudge is a nice nugget!
http://inudge.net/inudge#/hfld
This one is ear piercing.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/l0mh
not only fun to hear, but fun to see, too. Houses and Xs and rings, oh my.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/fdh5
Look at the pictures. Be happy!
This is the coolest webtoy ever. but it's a little glitchy sometimes. :D
http://inudge.net/inudge#/null
I just made this right off, so nothing special. I like the sounds of it though and I might post another one if it meets standards. =p
I'm used to making hip hop beats, so this was a really fun toy to mess around with. I wish I could have had 16 bars instead of 8, but I think it came out pretty well anyway.
You need headphones for this one, or you can just hold your speakers close to your ears.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/82klh
Just a little something I whipped up.
Too bad there isnt a mixing feature because I could create sooooo much more with something like that...
Ooh fun stuff, a little disappointed that I couldn't get to the notes in between. But I think it's probably better this way, since all the notes harmonize and its easier to make good sounding music, unlike just banging on a piano or guitar.
Anyway, here's mine:
http://inudge.net/inudge#/gsav
A Tribute to Tears for Fears:
Oh yea, I also liked MF's, especially the percussion track.
tediousQ's is pretty good too.
Not great art, but it's kinda spacy and has a nice beat. What a fun toy!
I like hk's. It's quite a nice loop.
Here's what I came up with.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/a6n
Started in the harp section trying to duplicate the running line from the carol of the bells and just expanded from there. I think it's the dissonance in the bass that made it feel to me like a complete piece.
http://inudge.net/inudge#/16di
Basically, started by goofing off with the avatar sound, then found that you can do a lot with patterns, if you break them. dot dot dot dot doesn't sound nice after a while, but dot dot dash dot dash does.
I tried to keep a nice unified sound, but I mixed it up a bit with a harp. I'm not sure why I wrote Digit digit there. Could be a title, could be an attempt to write dig it dig it in a cramped space. Who knows.
I like what I did, it's awesome I guess. Better than homework. ¬_¬
http://inudge.net/inudge#/16zf
Cool little toy. Great way to collect loops for game sounds.
