I have to say that I never leave comments but this game is just way too hard for me. I normally do the escape games with very little help but I cant even get this one with a walkthrough so I give up and hope all you other guys enjoy.

Where is the tic tac toe board?

I found the hint board

on the ceiling

Anonymous June 2, 2009 4:51 PM

ugh when i

use the locked box on the key stuck on the keypad it doesn't work! am i missing something?

I'm entering the code exactly from the

but it won't take it.

The triangle picture has taken my key, though. I'm following the triangles exactly, what am I doing wrong?

Holy cow! I took care of the doggie & in turn he hooked me up and I thought I was done and out! Now it seems there's plenty more to go.

Anonymous June 2, 2009 4:54 PM

I'm having trouble with the green box as well

I have the code from the video game. The walkthrough just says "use" the code. However, I can't work out exactly how to spin the duck to enter in the code. clockwise? counterclockwise? I have Right Down Left Down Left Up Right Down Right.

The codes all change each time - so there's little point in telling you which way to do it...

turn the duck whichever way gets it to the way you need it next. i.e. if it's left, forward, left, first turn it anti-clockwise, then clockwise.

the tic-tac-toe board is the hint board you've found on the ceiling. I'd call it noughts and crosses, but the US vernacular is tic-tac-toe which is more specific, so that's why I used it.

check you're copying the direction of the arrows, not their location. i.e. the top arrow points DOWN...

@ Otto

you have the tic tac toe board on the ceiling. you also have the code which looks like this in the hatch:

|_ |_| _| [ ] and so on...

you need to combine the two codes for your solution...

Sorry JIGuest should have been clearer...

duck code :

move the duck to wherever your starting position is without worrying about the direction.

THEN move the duck in the prescribed manner.

hope this helps!

brokenrecord June 2, 2009 5:29 PM

What a fabulous game! I'm especially impressed how well the dog was incorporated. The movie wasn't disruptive at all (and the dog was adorable). I like how the dog was in the credits too :) Thanks for posting!

Thanks, but I'm still stuck

I finally got that the codes in the door correspond to the sections of the tic tac toe hint in the celiing, but after decoding it (if the door code indicates top left, look in the top left section, note X or O, etc.), but the code it gives me doesn't do anything when put into the light.

Dave you're definitely on the right lines.

if the code says top left corner of tic-tac-toe and that's a O you press the left button on the light. if the next bit of code says bottom middle of the tic-tac-toe is also an O, you press the same (on) button again... and press the right button for the Xs. Is that what you're doing?

If I were you I'd pick up a new piece of paper, write your codes down from scratch and you'll probably realise it was a simple transcribing error. When you've got it right the light flashes and a button battery appears in the opening.

FINALLY got the real ending. I knew there had to be more. Did it all on my own too. But it took me a LONG time. Over two hours.

Big thumbs up! The best and most gratifying escape game in a while. Very well done!

chipmunk June 2, 2009 5:49 PM

@ xadoc

Thanks for the walkthrough. One trivial correction:

The stem on the duck head and the hole in the green box are pentagonal (5-sided), not hexagonal (6-sided).

xadoc (and anyone else who's solved the light)

Here's what I have:

My tic tac toe board looks like this

My door code looks like this

|_ [] |_| =| |= _| |-| -| |-

(or using R for right, C for center, D for down, U for up, and L for left: LL, C, LC, RC, LC, LR, UC, UR, UL)

For which I extract the code OOXOXXOXO... Which doesn't work. : p

Erik Neilsen June 2, 2009 5:56 PM

Little help here for those stuck on the

Duck Puzzle.

Check your ducks closely. One is a Duck's Butt.

And also the

Tic-Tac-Toe Puzzle.

Turn the board 90 degrees so that the first button=ON and start from there.

for anyone stuck on how to put the numbers into the solar box

first hit the button on the right to get 63 then hit the middle button to get 3000 then hit the button on the right to get 3714

Lol, never mind! Brain freeze. (And since this comment didn't post...)

Fantastic game. Threw everything but the sliding puzzle at us, and it flowed logically from one step to the next. Plus, of course: omg cute.

chipmunk June 2, 2009 6:26 PM

@Dave re tic-tac-toe puzzle

I'm not sure how you're trying to decode the tic-tac-toe puzzle... "LL"? "LR"?

Here's a hint: compare the lines of the tic-tac-toe board to the lines of the code.

Aha, Dave, I think you're reading it wrong...

here's the grid

| |

lets give all the spaces a letter from a - i

a b c
d e f
g h i

if your first code space is |_ then you need letter c...

you just are looking for the lines surrounding the space you want.

so I think your code is

Still need help with this !@#$% light...

I realized an error in interpretation of the board... BUT...

My tic tac toe board looks like

My door code looks like this

|_ [] |_| =| |= _| |-| -| |-

(or using R for right, C for center, D for down, U for up, and L for left: LL, C, LC, RC, LC, LR, UC, UR, UL)

The code I derived is therefore XOOXOOXOX

Rotating it 90 deg clockwise I get OOXXOOOXX

NEITHER works...

HALP (again)

Thanks xadoc but

I realized my error, but

XOOXOOOXOX doesn't seem correct (code should be nine characters), the 'correct' code seems like it should be

XOOXOOXOX But that doesn't work either

I tried rotating 90 deg and that didn't work either...

Going to try rotating two more times...

Grumble, grumble...

Ok, I don't want to read the walkthrough quite yet, anyone feel like giving me a tip for what to do next?

Here's what I've done so far:

Found and placed the bird thing on the green box. (do the necessary movements correspond to the squiggle on that piece of paper? I tried that and it didn't work...)
Got the screwdriver
Got white plant box
Got the machine that needs batteries
Got little yellow machine and placed it near the plants
Noted the X's and O's near the ceiling, and that O corresponds to on and X corresponds to off, but as to what goes on and off I haven't found it.
Found the hidden chute behind the counter/thing that has the red squiggle and weird white symbols.

I dont understand how i can get a number on the solar powered device that isn't divisible by 7. My number is 1714, I cant get it

Does anyone know how to get the lamp code thing to work? I've been trying for like 3 hours and I cant get it!

@ graham

press the right hand key 3 times to get 0021.

then press the middle key to get 0210

then press the right key to get 0217

then press the middle key twice to get 1700

then press the right key twice to get 1714

My number is 4714 and I cannot, for the life of me, get it right.
Any help?

@ Dave

you shouldn't need to rotate the puzzle.

It was right first time for me, so it must be the most obvious way up as viewed by the binoculars.

I think your new interpretation of the code looks more like it (don't know how I got an extra digit, sorry!)

So the code would be

off on on off on on off on off.

is there really nothing in the opening?

can you post pictures of your tic-tac-toe and code anywhere and link them?

ThemePark June 2, 2009 7:06 PM

@Dave, you're misunderstanding how the grid is supposed to look.

The open spaces do not go towards the middle but AWAY from the middle, just like in the tic tac toe clue on the attic window.

That way, your lineup is UR, C, U, L, R, UL, D, DL, DR

Remember that X means lights off, and O means lights off, and even though you start with lights off, you have to press the off button. So it's

off, on, on, off, on, on, off, on, off

or if you look at the buttons

Right, Left, Left, Right, Left, Left, Right, Left, Right.

ThemePark June 2, 2009 7:09 PM

Correction to my last post:

O means lights ON.

Press the rightmost button twice, so it says 0014. Then press the middle button once, so it says 0140. Then press the rightmost button once, so it says 0147. Then press the middle button twice, so it says 4700. Finally press the right button twice, so it says 4714.

Thank you so much

I can't figure out the light puzzle.

the code reads

I tried going "on off on on off off off on on"
as that is how it looks but nothing happens. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Paul, have you found the other parts of that code?

One part involves moving some furniture.

You also need the philips screwdriver.

The other part is on a paper with several other codes on it.

You can't put the paper into your inventory.

Your sequence will be oxxoxooxo, but it won't work unless you've found the other clues.

xadoc et. al.

Thanks for helping, I think I need to go outside for awhile O_x

For the tic-tac-toe puzzle,

I believe the code on the doggy door will always be:
top right
top center
middle left
middle right
top left
bottom center
bottom left
bottom right

The tic-tac-toe grid itself will change with each game, and you need to have seen the doggy door sequence before the game will accept the code. But if you're having trouble interpreting the sequence, maybe the above will help.

Remember to just hit the buttons as indicated, regardless of whether the light is currently off or on. If your sequence says 'xxx', hit the Off button three times.

Whoops, I keep forgetting that the spoiler tag conventions are different here...

Dave, your code should be

xooxooxox, that is right-left-left-right-left-left-right-left-right.

If the game simply refuses to accept this code, it must means you have not yet looked at the third part of the code.

Have you seen the paper behind the flowerpot on the high shelf? Next to the green bucket?

Yes, I did find and see everything up to that point based on the walkthrough, so I'm confused.

Thanks Reka but

I have looked at the paper behind the flowerpot...

What is the third part of the code?

duck puzzle code

is actually constant from game to game, but as noted above (and as usual with Neutral's offerings), there's "cheat prevention" in place, so you must

beat the bridge game

before you can successfully input the code.

If you are having trouble interpreting the code,

here's how to turn the duck:

or if you prefer left/right:
... where "right" means "click to the right of the duck" and "left" means "click to the left of the duck".

Dave, the only thing I can suggest at this point is to review your rights and lefts.[*] :) That, and maybe "reset" the game by going and looking at all parts of the code again, then going back to the lamp.

If you met a bug in the game (improbable, but not impossible), it might help to save your progress, close everything, then reopen and continue. If not even that helps, you'll probably need to bite the bullet and restart. Once you've figured out the steps, the game doesn't take too long; the only painful part on restarting is that you have to beat the electronic game again. (Well, that and all your codes will change, but that's kind of what you want if the game you have loaded now is buggy.)

[*]Remember, the back of your left hand forms an 'L' shape if you extend your thumb... ;)

mraznb0i June 2, 2009 9:11 PM

This is really bugging me but my code is 5699 and i for the life of me can not figure it out. i would appreciate it if yall can help me out.

glitrdancr June 2, 2009 9:13 PM

Can't figure out my code!

my code on the back of the key for the solar box is 4565. I can't seem to get it.

Has anyone had that one? After half an hour, I'm at a loss.

Well, that was fun. The second solar-panel puzzle got me for a bit, but I managed to get to the second ending

again i get nothing but need to ask a question.

i keep seeing left and right for the duck and left and right for the lamp so maybe i'm either doing the wrong one or it's the same code for both,or maybe this walkthrough is totally confusing. Can someone tell me how to do the tic tac toe lamp thing? because it ain't working.

Anestoh June 2, 2009 9:26 PM

Right button: 7x
Center button
Right button: 9x
center button
Right button: 5x
center button
Right button: 7x
Left button

That..should work.
I didn't test it, but I've worked out the puzzle before.

waycooler June 2, 2009 9:33 PM

Could somebody please figure out how to put in this code for me?

2696 on the sun pad thing.

I have been trying for an hour and can't figure it out. Thanks!

The tic-tac-toe puzzle:

Write down the tic-tac-toe board you can see on the ceiling.

Write down the code that you get from behind the cabinet.

There are nine Xs and Os in the tic-tac-toe board. The code is telling you what order to write them down in.

Each symbol on the code corresponds to the lines that make up the tic-tac-toe board. If the symbol has a line on the right and the bottom, that's indicating the upper-left spot on the board, because that spot also has a line on the right and the bottom. If the symbol is a square, that indicates the center of the board, because the center of the board has a line on all four sides.

So for each symbol in the code, look at the part of the tic-tac-toe board that it indicates, and see whether there's an X or an O written there. Write it down.

You should end up with a string of nine Xs and Os, one for each part of the tic-tac-toe board.

Now, on the lamp with the two buttons, the left button turns it on, and the right button turns it off. Go through your string of Xs and Os one letter at a time. For each O, press the left button. For each X, press the right button.

If you got it right, the lamp will flash and then spit out a battery.

Walkthrough 60. Return to solar-powered device. Input code again. When the bell rings, return to the hatch to collect the ball.

This step isn't necessary (and isn't it a non-sequitur as a trigger, anyway? That goes against 'fair' puzzles...). All I did was

move away from the panel, maybe do a quick round of the room, and look back out of the panel. (I imagine just letting the panel close and reopen is enough, or even just moving back and coming back in. Haven't tried.)

simple enough game. Only needed help with the math part. That solar box was a PIA! Liked the second ending, but it seemed there was something that wasn't used.

did pushing on the button over the entrence to the dog's hallway do anything?

need help of how to know what number to put in the solar energy box.

I have no idea. Please help me!!! been stuck here for almost 20-30 minutes. :(

Yeah, Bob. Pushing that button:

dropped the picture in the hallway revealing all the repeated puzzle devices from the other room

Okay, I understand the Tic Tac Toe puzzle. I understood it in the first place. And I've done exactly as the instructions say, indeed, I did that before because the puzzle was obvious to me. The code still doesn't work. Here:

The tic tac toe board looks like this:

The code looks like this:
top right, center, top middle, middle left, middle right, top left, bottom middle, bottom left, bottom right.

This translates to the following code:

X is off, O is on.

Putting that code into the light does nothing.

So, tell me where I messed up. You can't, because I didn't.

See, I get how to solve the puzzle. But the solution doesn't work. The game is simply broken and doesn't work right.

thehoodie June 2, 2009 11:10 PM

So how do I get the duck back to rotating position after getting the flat-head screwdriver? I can't seem to figure it out.

yay...no walkthroughs or help!!!

By far my favorite escape yet...intricate, but not impossible.

Otto...I Got:

...and it worked for me...not saying you messed up, but I don't know how you got what you did.

Ok, seriously. Someone just tell me how to get 2465 on the solar-powered box of hatred. My first number, 5714, was deceptively simple, but this is just insane. Who builds a machine that only adds 7 and multiplies by 10, anyway?

Any sort of fun I was having with this has been stolen by that retched thing.

right button 7 times
middle button 1 time
right 4
middle 1
right 9
middle 1
right 5
left button

If you're having problems with the light puzzle, and you're doing everything right per the tic tac toe code, here's the fix

This then shifts the view so you can also see a red spiral.

This is frankly ridiculous, as you can easily read the code in the door without doing this.

It's unfortunate it does this, because otherwise this is a very good escape game.

waycooler June 3, 2009 12:01 AM

Still looking for help with 2696 on the solar-powered box thing. Help please!

waycooler June 3, 2009 12:08 AM

Nevermind figured it out

Just reporting that the tic-tac-toe code is not working for me, either.

My board looks like:

So my code should then be

And I have found the three necessary parts of this puzzle: the tic-tac-toe board on the skylight (w/binoculars), the code behind the cabinet, and the piece of paper behind the vase.

It doesn't work. I saved the game, exited, and reloaded -- still no luck.

Otto, Dave, those of you also having problems with the tic tac toe -- what browser and Flash version are you using? I have Flash 10, on Firefox 3.0.10, on Mac OS 10.4.11.

solar puzzle...I got the code for the special ending

and I'm seriously about to cry because it's really tempting to just finish the game right now...but that's no fun...because no matter what, no matter what

mathematical acrobatics

I try, I can't get it to work! I'm just not mathematical enough.... :'(

fattywads June 3, 2009 12:42 AM

YAY! Im pretty sure my code for the solar panel thing is impossible, unless you can make 4714 a multiple of 7!

Thank you so much, Psychotronic. I don't think I would have ever gotten that.

jennifercsu June 3, 2009 12:58 AM

HELP! my number is 4595. how to get it

Billy Nitro June 3, 2009 1:01 AM

I feel super clever having figured that all out by myself. One day I'll be able to do it quickly enough to write a walkthrough...Maybe.

Getting various reports of the tic-tac-toe puzzle not working. Anyone track down the cause?

wickedcherub June 3, 2009 1:43 AM

@ Billy Nitro

maybe you could write a hint through? I always much prefer hint throughs compared to straight up walkthroughs. Sometimes I need help, not the answers!

abfdrumz June 3, 2009 1:46 AM

Wow...some of those codes for the solar device are something, aren't they? OverZealous posted a good general guide for how to do it, though it can be slightly tricky to wrap one's brain around. Prior to seeing that, I wrote a little computer program to find the fastest way to get to a particular code. Here are a few for which people have asked for help that I haven't seen answered yet...let me know if I missed any.

right x4, left, right x6, left, right x5, left, right x5

right x2, left x2, right x8, left, right x3

4714: fattywads, ThemePark gave the answer for this one a bit further up.

how do you keep the gate open to get the screw driver?? suggestions please??

jennifercsu June 3, 2009 2:26 AM

Thank you so much, abfdrumz.
I'm out! Finally.

Wow, that is an excellent game. The dog was incredibly well implemented (and very cute) and nearly all the puzzles were logical.

I agree that the solar powered code entering system was unnecessarily complicated, and this was the only part of the game that frustrated me.

Probably another winner for 2009?

Anonymous June 3, 2009 5:01 AM

I have the key the dog dropped to eat the dogfood. Is that the key I turn over to see another code for the other ending? I've been clicking all over it and it won't budge.

pooh_digger June 3, 2009 5:11 AM

Can anyone help with 3714? Seems a bit impossible to me...

barrooo June 3, 2009 5:37 AM

Arrgh, the solar box, why do you mock me so? Took me ages to get the first code right and now the second code is taking me even longer.

Any thoughts on how to get 5606?

The code doesn't point out the positions of the square in the board, but rather the squares in the tic-tac-toe board that have the same edges, so it's actually the exact opposite of how you interpret it.

I've beaten the hi-score and got 9800 for the new score and I've entered 9800 on the solar machine thing but nothing happens..wad am I supposed to do?

wickedcherub June 3, 2009 6:15 AM

I think I would have given up without OverZealous's method for working out the solar panel code.

And I made my husband beat the bridge game. I only play these games because I have no reflexes! Everything else was super logical and great. No pixel hunting. I wish I could play it all over again.

I'm stuck, I looked at the walkthrough for help and found out I'm missing a code, right around step 20. I can't seem to find the code on the door, any hints as to what I'm doing wrong? I was really enjoying the game, and I'd love to finish it.

I'd love to see the program. Can you share it on GoogleDocs spreadsheet or some such? *is geekily hopeful*

Grrr. I absolutely hate maths but i love these games.

Any hints as to how to enter the number 3683 into the lightbox?

Please help!
I'm no math genius and I'm totally lost with the solar power box. I got my code it's 2721
Can anyone help? Please!!

readytocry June 3, 2009 11:45 AM

has anyone come up with an actual formula for the solar box? I know which buttons do what, but is there a method for figuring these random numbers? My current code to figure is 6813, if anyone wants to throw me a clue...Thanks

riuzaki1 June 3, 2009 12:01 PM

ok, how about 2903? i keep geting 2905...

paullus June 3, 2009 12:02 PM

solar box calculator :)

phoenix June 3, 2009 12:36 PM

Can anyone tell me how to get 2869 on sunbox... been trying for hours.

Oh for crying out loud..

My code was absolutely right, I had just not clicked the open space in the hatch in order to see the red spiral. After doing that and putting the code in again, the battery popped right out.

That is a serious flaw in this game, IMO.

I have done every on off combination, including the one given, as the Tic Tac Toe arrangement never changes, and nothing happens. I'm getting frustrated. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I have done everything up to this point, even reading or collecting, based on the walkthrough above. I'm thinking there is no way to finish the game unless someone tells me what's wrong, or at least post a better walkthrough. :(

never mind. anyway, the hand held controller game is hard once you hit 3000 because it gets super fast. no way am i gonna get 6000 on this :(

abfdrumz June 3, 2009 1:41 PM

@paulus: thanks for the solar box calculator, though I wasn't able to get the applet to load for some reason. So I've whipped up a CGI version of my own script:

"Lights" solar box code generator

It's completely bare-bones (and can be ridiculously slow because of the brute-force approach), but I hope it will help a few folks.

Dr. Worm June 3, 2009 2:40 PM

Neutral is my favorite escape game creator next to Mateusz Skutnik. I've enjoyed every single one of her games so far. :)

Dr. Worm June 3, 2009 4:46 PM

Okay, I'm getting really tired of the solar power box. Can anyone help me with inputtind 1714?

Dr. Worm, try 21 x 10 + 7 x 10 x 10 + 14. Or if you prefer:
+ + + x + x x + +
where '+' means "press the add button on the right" and 'x' means "press the multiply button in the middle".

Anonymous June 3, 2009 5:22 PM

HELP!!!! 3593 ? No generator programs are working for me!

bpanama June 3, 2009 5:55 PM

Kind of a cheap way to do the solar box (mine was 2823 and really tough):

If your last two digits are divisible by 7, just keep pressing the button until you get the last digits of the number equal to your first 2 digits, ie: 2728, go to 427.

multiply by 10 twice, then you're set to finish it out.

If, however, your last two digits aren't divisible by 7, you need to find a 3 digit number that is divisible by 7, whose last 2 numbers match your number, ie: 623 for 2823 (try 123, then 223, 323, etc.).

You then subtract the 3 digit number from your 4 digit number (2823-623 = 2200), use method from 1st option to get 2200. Then press the button until you get to 2823.

try 7453:

553/7 is even. 7453-553 = 6900.
Go to 469 (67 times), multiply by 10, multiply by 10, then press 7 button enough times to get to 7453 (79 times).

This is the long way, but should work every time.

Jackson June 3, 2009 6:05 PM

That realistic animal part was unexpected. I'm used to limited movement in escape games, so I jumped when I saw it... I'm a weenie...

3593: 28 x 10 + 49 x 10 + 63 x 10 + 63, or
+ + + + x + + + + + + + x + + + + + + + + + x + + + + + + + + +

kngsfrk June 3, 2009 6:17 PM

Hats off to you paullus - your code finder was a lifesaver - and quite impressive too! Great job - thank you!

So, Psychotronic, are you going to "flesh out this blurb with [y]our thoughts" anytime soon? You can't tell me you haven't finished the game yet... :)
