To Kim, once your person realizes the sink is leaking, drag the adult to the work room, not the shed, and drop them on the wrench that is around the left hand area of the work room. They should pick up the wrench and go fix the leaky sink. There are a lot more answers to other house fix ups if you press Ctrl + F on this page and look for "Virtual Families - Repairs and Household Items".

Anyone else getting zapped by taxes? I got $455.00 taken away and them the same day they got me for $571.00 Yikes

Reply

To Lasy, that is awful! Are you sure it is not some sort of glitch, I never heard of that before. The most I've gotten taken from me is 10-20 dollars due to an error in electrical bills.

This game is funny and I get a kick out of some of the holes this game doesn't cover xD! The father in my game lives off of energy drinks, doesn't sleep as they have been coming often enough and pretty much lives in his work area (he is still "elated" and his health is to the brim as is his fed status). My kids sells collectibles all day and when they are not selling, they nap. While almost the entire family is working themselves but somehow still happy (I praise them alot), the mother is not doing anything because she has the baby, she admires herself in the mirror all day or relaxes in the hammock! rofl. A few times I have caught most of my family feeling "not fresh" and have gotten my parents to have babies while feeling "not fresh", this game is so hilarious in some ways.

How long does the mom nurse the baby in real time?

Reply

Just had to share this cute story...
My male was "Hyper" and the female was just normal. I got them to try to make a baby, but he was way too fast. She was just starting to put the petals on the bed and he started jumping on it and then kissing the air... then he left the room. She gets up on the bed and does her thing. I thought no way a baby is gonna come out of that... but I was wrong!!! She got a baby and he was in the Laundry room... who's the daddy? LOL

Also, I have 5 families going and have yet to see anyone make coffee or do kung-fu (though 1 family has been doing tai-chi)... Is there any way to help these items get started?

Where's the remote to the TV?

I keep getting fined for having a weed in my yard, but I can't find one anywhere!!! Is there one weed that anyone knows of that is hard to spot?? I have a hammock, could it be growing under the hammock and I can't get to it?

Reply

To Mickeymoomoo:

The mothers carry the baby for about four hours real time.

ShhhQ:

Mine do Kung Fu after getting the energy drink. Not every time, but the Kung Fu only happens after drinking it.

To Shari:

Check in the corners of the screen, along the edges of the yard, and up against the house. Those are the hardest to see. You can also purchase a weed bomb in the store when it becomes available.

I am on the 3rd generation of my family and the store has not "restocked" in as many days. I'm stuck. Any suggestions.

Oh wow Just wanted to share this
I was watching my family sitting down to dinner and I noticed our cat sat in the chair with the dad. When the dad was finished he went to work on his career the cat followed.. so I picked the dad up and what ever direction I moved him the cat followed where ever I placed him the cat came directly to him. So cute just like a cat to follow you around

Reply

He only followed him for a few minutes then left to scratch up the couch. (Times like that I wish I could scold him

Ok does got a question

I have been playing for a couple of weeks now and usually the varied items in the store would refresh every 12-24 hours, sometimes a bit longer. I am on my 15th generation in a family and the varied items have stopped refreshing. I have played through 4 generations with nothing in the varied items at all. There are the male/female clothes and that's it. I hate to start all over from the beginning because I have only 5 items left in the collectibles and I wanted to see what happens if I actually collect everything.
Does anyone have a clue how to get the varied items in the store working again?
I use my clock and push time forward quite a bit but even that doesn't change anything for the store.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

[Edit: We strongly advise against changing your computer clock. Not only does it ruin the game, it can also mess up other functions that rely on the computer clock. -Pam]

I really want to have a baby girl. I have two families running at the same time. One has six children, and the other has two so far. However, all the children are boys. Any way to have a girl? Although I guess the chance to have a boy or girl is random.

Reply

I enjoy reading these blogs. I find some of them so funny. I have 5 families going and I found that it doesnt matter if a person wants a child or not it always happens. Even if they argue just keep putting them together and they will eventually give-in. The only time they wont is if your youngest is under 4 yrs old, they are getting old, or you have six already. I noticed when they get older they will try for a baby but nothing happens. So I guess if you want kids have them at a young age. As far as the coffee, I find that they only make it at breakfast time. When I check them in the morning they are making breakfast, lattes and coffee. Their energy is always up. At night is when they lose their energy and dont seem to work on their careers much.
I, also, have a hard time finding bugs, gophers, and supplies that I need from the store. I wish it would restock more often.

I bought a repair kit to fix the floor and it took forever to fix one hole. Now I have to wait for another repair kit to show up in the store. This is gonna take forever!!! (LOL)

I also purchased the pool and I find it really funny how they all go in and swim around

Reply

To Shauna:
I have used the baby boost too. It says on the description it is supposed to permanently increase the chances of getting a baby. Not sure if there is an optimal time to give it although it is a good thought. My parents compared to other families still have a hard time making a baby when they try, although it is definitely better than before (I had to try at least several times for the first baby before I could afford the boost!) but now it takes a few tries. I think it also says in the description that it can become less effective if you repeatedly administer it, so I have only stuck to that one time use and am keeping my fingers crossed each time I try.

To Lexi:
The store restocks every 4 hours from my experience.

To luvschocolates:
That is unusual! I hope that changing the computer clock does not harm game play as I'm sure many of us have done it to some extent =[. Have you tried checking back every 4 hours? Perhaps every 12-24 hours the items look the same as maybe the game restocks in a cyclical pattern. I know sometimes when I check back the inventory looks the same but for one item. But if I check back every time it restocks it is sure to have a somewhat different array of items.

To meme:
Thanks for the tip on coffee! That certainly makes better sense and hopefully I will have better luck with making it and perhaps I can focus more on work during those hours for a faster promotion!

Reply

To Kara:

When the remote disappears from the living room table, it will be somewhere in the house on the floor. It changes locations each time.

To Annyb:

Check in the lower left corner of the menu screen and see what version you have. The most current version is 1.00.05 and the store now updates every four hours. If you have a prior version, go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download it again. All of the game sites have received the updated version of the game from the developer.

To Shauna:

I think the baby boost should be used before trying to have a baby. It's a long term thing, so it's supposed to increase the chances of having babies for the life of your little person.

To Lexi:

If you have the most current version of the game (1.00.05), the store refreshes every four hours. Babies grow into children at two years of age (about four hours real time).

To Claire:

There's no way to have specifically girls. It's random. But at least the survival of the family doesn't depend on having both genders like the Virtual Villagers games! :)

To Meme:

Thanks for the information about breakfast and lattes in the mornings. That explains why I haven't seen them making lattes! Also, make sure you have the most current version of the game (1.00.05), which restocks the store every four hours.

Ok I finally got one of my families to do Kung Fu... the Mom was in the kitchen and I was trying to get her to make coffee by picking her up and putting her back down, all of a sudden she said she was doing kung fu... so I grabbed my trusty praising glove! By the way she wasn't even hyper, just elated. This was the same family that was doing Tai Chi, maybe that is a prelude to kung-fu

Still no luck with the lattes or coffee!

As for repairs.. 3 of my families have repaired hoses, while the other 2 have wall repair kits... haven't been able to do any wall work. My last family has had 2 floor repair kits, while another has had 1... and 2 have been able to fix the birdbath... all have the shed open!

I just wish they would replenish the kits more often.

Reply

I got the latte trophy early on in one game (playing 2 families on the desktop and one on the laptop) with no kitchen upgrade at all. It's just random, but I can't recall if it was in the morning or not when it happened. I did see one person "making coffee" once...

Reply

I wish the floor repair kit and wall repair kit would show up more frequently! I've never had the floor repair kit show up, and my first person is almost 60. :( I've only had the wall repair kit show up once, and since he didn't finish the job the stuff hardened.

Cute things I've noticed:

The dog turned in circles a few times before laying down!

If your fridge has grains stocked, when your people feed the birds or the fish they take out a big loaf of bread.

Someone said the toolbox upgrade didn't have interactions: that's incorrect. My person randomly went over and "admired new tools" (he took a flashlight out of the toolbox and held it for a little while). Very cute.

When the adults die, you get a blue screen giving you instructions on how to start the next generation. If you somehow missed that, then go to the family screen and click the button at the top of the page for the next generation. You will then choose which of the children will take over the house.

I have a family with little girls, youngest is named Fran. Went off @ 3am got back on about 10:30am and Fran is missing, but older sis is still there. What could have happened to my little girl? Wish there was a history so I can see what happened to Fran. I have looked for pause and cannot pause it. Bought from iWin. The game itself is ok. I think the price for the level ups are outrageous. I do love the VV series :) and this one is just ok. Hope they fix some of the issues this version has in next version. I think they could have taken more time with it and made things a bit better. I wish all developers/programmers would take more time and take care of all issues before rushing to SELL because it is very frustrating and disappointing when there are too many issues with a game. QUALITY is the key not QUANTITY! Thank you very much. :) Hope someone can answer my question about my missing kid. ^^ lol

Hello All! I am having so much fun with this game. I have 5 families going (yes, I have no life) and am on my third generation with my first family. I have used the spoilers on this site for many events and I thank the people who post them for helping me so much!!

I am having a problem with the workroom wall now though. I followed the directions in the spoiler and I still can't get my people to work on the wall.

The garden hose is fixed and I bought the compound. I set it on the ground beside the bucket by the sandbox. I picked up both adults in the house and tried to set them on the compound but they still won't fix the wall. I have set them there dozens of time and they just keep going to other things. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

The babies aren't necessarily supposed to look like anything in particular. They can look like their parents, look like each other, or look like nobody.

Not all of the household events are good ones. You can't get your food back. Next time, be sure to say no to that trainer. :)

GO-PHER IT! If you give your youngest child (mine was 4) an energy drink and keep them outside they will chase gophers much quicker! Oh well!

I've managed to get the 65 trophy in all four of my families now. With version 1.00.05 you can affect their health much more.

My first family is now in 5th generation. I have 81 trophies and am aiming for the "earned $100,000" trophy. I've accumulated $38,000 in their bank account and don't spend except for groceries and the occasional medicine. Amazing how fast that 10% interest racks up. :-)

I'm also disappointed in my Hacker, he only topped out at $270. Getting much better money from my Programmer, who is earning around $340 at level 7.

To chiklitz Yeah! I found it, too!

But I could find it only at one of my five families. Please tell me, when you find out if s.th. special can be done with it except bouncing around. May be it has to do s.th. with the animals. I haven't got one yet for this family. The boy is ten but doesn't react on it. Weird!

About the red ball!!:

The first red ball you find you have to put into the circle in the children's room where the toys are. When you go to your other families and try to pull the window at exactly that place the ball will apear and it will remain - by the way this the only place where the window is not pullable. It worked at four of my five families. The fifth are without children and very old - I guess it will apear when the new generation starts. Excuse my bad english!

Sorry if it's already been discussed but I've noticed that throughout the game that every so often you recieve an e-mail informing you that someone from your workplace has given birth and that you have to cough some of your hard earned cash because of this event. Yet when-ever your family has a child your so called work colleages don't even cough up phlegm for you, the tight gits!

On another subject I'm sure Last Day Of Work modelled the family cat on my own cat.Like the cat in the game mine(his name is Mr.Cat by the way) is also black & white, apart from the cute factor serves pretty much no purpose what-so-ever,gets under your feet when your trying to clean up,scratches the furniture, and loafs about the house(especially the beds). It's pretty unccany!

Three's a charm so here goes.....

Why is it that when you get to your 40's - 50's you start to walk around as if you've just come back from a 500 mile bike ride, and to make matters worse the kids have just gone off to college leaving you with a house that look likes a tornado has just hit, with not just a couple of socks and wrappers but a whole buffet of the god damn things. And as for the amount of weeds you accumulate due to the kids leaving.....well. And it takes you and the missus the whole of your retirement to clean the whole sorry mess up. No wonder they look so happy when they die!

They can be stubborn in the beginning. You need to keep putting them on their job over and over until they complete a work cycle. Then do it over again. When they get past the point where they would say "no", praise them. I think it helps them work better.

To Shauna:

I found the red ball after reading the first post about it. It was above and to the left of the shed, as far into that corner of the screen as you can go. I put the hand up into the corner to pinch, and it brought out a red ball! Like magic! I left it by the hammock and now it's gone.

To Debbie:

If you use the green glove too many times in a row, they'll run off and say to stop nagging. I guess too much praise is annoying to them.

And yes, it's normal for a different family to act differently. They each have their own personalities. You can help them to learn things and be more like you want them to be.

To Lily:

Has the email always done this or is it just starting to act up? My first suggestion is to exit and restart your game. If that doesn't help, you may want to go back to the site where you purchased the game and download it again. It sounds like a glitch or a bug.

If you use the green glove too many times in too short a time period they will indeed accuse you of nagging and run away. Try not to use it more than twice in a day for a particular behavior. I've found that if you mix it up with candy and fruit treats you are less likely to get them running away as well.

Not to mention that their energy levels have never been better. A couple are hyper!! lol

I don't have problems with energy levels. I did have a son that said he was always a bit weak but he grew and went to college like everyone else. His energy level and health was always up. I have no idea why.

I have been trying to get that red ball all day. I have bounced my poor people all over that shed.

I have also noticed that when the people get older there is not many things to collect. I hope it picks up in the second generation. I would like to know if everything is the same in all generations or is it a little different.

About the wall compound -

Hold an adult over the green bucket (not the wall compound) until it says "sees the bucket" in the activity bar. Then drop him/her to start mixing the compound.

To WendyG:

About being weak -

Were they sick recently? Their health goes down more the longer they are sick without being given medicine. It will come back up (slowly) on its own if you take good care of them (clean house, plenty of food, eating meals, etc.).

To rhi pete:

About chimes -

The chimes seem to indicate that there is a collectible on the grounds somewhere. I can't say it's 100% of the time, but it happens often enough that I pay attention when I hear the chimes. The louder chimes seem to be more reliable for finding collectibles.

Thanks to all who contribute to this site!

You can't actually make your family do Kung Fu. They do it on their own, but it only happens when they have very high energy, so mine have done it after I give an energy drink. It doesn't happen every time I give them the drink, but any time I see them doing Kung Fu, it's after drinking one.

I hope that makes sense. :)

The trick to getting them to do Kung Fu is to give an adult the energy drink when they are exhausted. If you give it to them when they have higher energy levels it just drives them hyper and they run around the house exercising. I usually wait until nighttime when they are exhausted and do it then.

I can put the red ball in my inventory / the boxes under the gloves. It says "ball". I can't sell it in the store. Anybody have a clue about what to do with it?

The red ball is an easter egg. It's just there to find and play with. You can bounce it around all over the VF screen, although none of your peeps will interact with it. It's just there for fun.

Hey! I find actually we are able to finish fixing the wall by only one wall compound.
When one of you little person carries the wall compound to the workshop wall, drag the other adult (parents or a child who is over 14) to the compound.
Both of them will fix the wall together, and you can have a brand new wall in a second.
And you don't have to wait and wait and wait for the next compound showing up. It seems to take forever. Lol
Hope this helps^^

Well, I've noticed a lot of people writing things up to glitches... I keep coming back to this thread, so I suppose I should consider signing up, but for now I'd like to say this. Please please look at the first page where it spells out for you how to make repairs, and how to do certain things. I see these poor people answering the same thing over and over, each reply getting shorter and shorter, with good reason!

I'm only on my second generation, but have already experienced many things in the game, and have 68 trophies on my first family, not too many less on my second. I'd be more than glad to answer some questions, but I don't think I could handle all the repeats.

All you guys have fun! *Goes to try the coffee tip. Wants to see if I can get it to work.*

My first family is in their 5th generation now (they're both in their late 40s) and I have now accumulated 85 trophies. :-)

Hi all. I've started my new generation but I'm stuck!! I have an email but he won't go on the computer. He stands, waves and says no. I can't get him to use them. I kept dropping him and nothing. Please help.

Ok, problem sorted. I was trying to place him in workshop to fix, but he wasn't doing anything. Eventually it worked.

I was finally able to make coffee and lattes. It's definitely a morning/breakfast activity. I kept dropping them on the floor just outside the kitchen and eventually one of those activities would occur. They are as random as any other activity. I praised the latte and got the trophy. They also made coffee, which increased their energy. The latte didn't.

Try closing the game and restarting.
