I noticed one of the trophies is to win on a lottery scratch off card. Where is this. I have 2 different families going and have yet to see this event.

hi! I just want to know how to cure a hiccup. thanks.

To Rebecca:

You should see a description of what the desensitization kit does when you click on it.

It removes one "dislike" from a family member.

To Miki:

Four years in the game is really not very long. At the beginning of the game, you won't have very much money.

Just enough to keep your people fed and save up for the first upgrade, which I believe is $250. Keep your people working on their careers and they will get promotions and raises. It will start to accumulate as the game progresses. I have a family in the fourth generation (which is close to 250 years) and I'm only just now buying some of the more expensive upgrades.

To xcynicallysweetx:

Because your person was interrupted while trying to put the knob on the shed door, try closing the game and restarting. If it works like previous games by this developer, the know will return to the sandbox for you to pick up again.

To Sue:

The lottery tickets will come as random household events.

To JIGuest:

You need drop the person on the right side of the sink where the cobwebs are.

To Molly:

Marriage propose come in for all generations just like they come for the first generation.

To Kayleigh:

Children start working at age 14, just like they've done in all the Virtual Villagers games.

kayleigh May 11, 2009 3:40 AM

My children have turned 14, but their profession is sayng N/A and salary and level when I click on them to work on the computers or workshop or kitchen it doesn't say working on carreer

Hi There, I am having trouble dropping an adult on the kitchen sink to get a drink to reduce water pressure, one starts working on their carer and the other starts preparing a meal, any ideas?

To Kayleigh:

Children can work around the house, doing all the things the adults can do, except reproduce and have a career. They won't have their own job until it's time to choose the one who gets to keep the house.

To Alicia:

Try using the bathroom sink instead.

zue-anne May 11, 2009 3:57 AM

Hey. I've fixed the hose, I've bought the wall compound and she started repairing the wall. But then I closed the game and when I came back. The wall compound had dried up, so does that mean that I have to keep buying the wall repairing kit until its fixed thoroughly? And does that goes with other kits too?

To zue-anne:

If you don't get the job on the walls done, the compound will dry up. Yes, you'll have to start it over. You need to make sure they work on fixing the wall steadily while the compound it soft. If it dries up, you have to start again and lose all of your progress.

zuzana0 May 11, 2009 4:31 AM

Went to pull the weeds. Got all but one. It is so high up on the screen that my peeps can not reach it within the circle spot, how do I get the last weed? Z

I had a srange happening with my family. After four kids went to college the father died and the mother was alone with the youngest boy, 10 years old. He was depressed (of course) but was saying constantly: Excited about the new baby! Although his mother was 56. Only some minutes later she died, too. So I had to start a new generation - but what was that with the new baby? Anyone else experienced sth like that?

maeghan21 May 11, 2009 8:45 AM

Twins!! I got twins on my 2nd pregnancy of the 2nd game I started. I didn't have to wait for a 2nd generation of the first family. I'm so excited, not sure why I wanted them so badly but I did . My other family I tried the baby boost etc but then learned on here that you have to wait for the 2nd generation, but nope, it can happen!

Kimberly May 11, 2009 8:48 AM

Ok, what about the bathroom shower? It's clogged.
My poor family keeps shaking there head, and they try and nothing happens.
How do I unclog it?
And thanks.

Kimberly May 11, 2009 8:51 AM

By the way, the woman is needing to fresh up and that's why I'm trying to use the shower. But it's clogged. Thanks.

I have a family of with husband wife and two kids, they are all tired and the energy levels and very low, no matter how much i put them to bed, they wont go up. Help?!

How to use the Tropical Bottle Rain and the Tropical Bottle Sunshine to get the trophy?

colleen May 11, 2009 10:25 AM

Hi. I've just brought the fountain pump but not sure what to do with it. Can anyone help me please? Thanks, colleen.

My character can't read her email. Every time I drag her on the computer, it keeps on saying 'working on career'. Anyone? Please help me.

I have looked at the spoiler for fixing the kitchen sink and it is not working. Someone please help.

To Cyn:
When you praised her for replacing the knob you reset the action. You will find that the knob is back in the sandbox.
This time when you drop your person on the knob don't disturb her. Let her fix the knob without praise. Once this is done you will be able to get the key. Note: You can't get the key untill you fix the knob
Hope that helps

tennispro788 May 11, 2009 11:29 AM

all of the people in my virtual family are depressed and weak...how do i make then the opposite??

To Alexia:
Give the bottle to someone

To Colleen:
Drop the pump on the bird bath It will sit beside the bath. Then drop a person on top of the bath they will begin fixing it

Bmenear May 11, 2009 11:46 AM

Has anyone used the scolding hand? If so what for?

grinnyp May 11, 2009 11:57 AM

For Health:

Make sure you are buying organics. Also there are multi-vitamins available randomly that can add to health. But the best thing seems to be the treadmill. Make sure to drop them on it at least once and praise. My families that use the treadmill seem to be the healthiest.

For Energy:

A short term solution is the energy drink. Long term, buy the hammock and praise them for resting in it. It helps build energy over time.

One of my peeps is 64! This is the oldest I've managed and his health is good, so fingers crossed!

Best I've managed trophy wise is 77. My first family is now in the 4th generation. I've gotten all the home improvements, now trying to get level 3 upgrades on all the career rooms.

I've been playing this game for a while, so I thought I could help a little.

With the fountain pump, you have to use the part you bought and use it on the birdbath. After that, you need to place an adult on it, then quickly place another, since it's too heavy for just one.

As far as sleeping, you have to leave them alone and close the game, or they'll just keep getting up everytime you open it. That's what I've seen, anyway.

To use the bottles of weather, you just use them on one of your people and they go outside. Their action slot will be blank, they'll go outside, then there will be rainbows, or something like that.

To unclog the shower, I think you need to go into the laundry room and drop your person on the bucket with the plunger. I think if you close out of your game and open it up, though, they go away.

grinnyp May 11, 2009 12:02 PM

To use the bottled rain or sunshine:

Just click the bottle on the nearest person. They will take it outside, pour it on the ground, and voila, weather will happen!

grinnyp May 11, 2009 12:12 PM

New behavior:

Normally gopher holes fix themselves, but I just observed an adult going out and filling in a hole in the yard. Love the new behaviors.

LauraMac May 11, 2009 12:27 PM

I didn't check in on my family at all yesterday bedcause I was unable to get to a computer. When I checked on them today they were all extremely weak, a bit weak, or weak....what do I do to get their health up since they are not sick?

hockiegirl0516 May 11, 2009 12:39 PM

downloaded the newest version of the game last night, and it is soooo much easier to play...energy levels and health stay high most of the time, and the store restocks every 4 hours with useful things. i managed to repair every household thing within 4 hours! i would recommend anyone who has bought this game to go back and upgrade to the newest version if it is available where you downloaded it from!

Sorry about the sink comment. I finally figured it out. I do have one question thought. My people are supposed to earn 90.00 and 45.00 a day for working but only recieve .90 and .45. Is that how the game works or is something wrong their? Please let me know asap. Thanks

To LauraMac:

Make sure they aren't sick. That's what usually makes them become weak. Even just a sore throat will reduce their health strength if it's not cured early. After that, you just need to make sure then have plenty of food and give them some time.

To Pam:

For each work cycle completed, they will receive only a small portion of their daily salary. But they perform many work cycles a day, so they'll get their full salary over a period.

There is a lot of information in the walkthrough section located at the top of the comments section. Please check there before posting a comment because there's a chance your question has already been answered. Thanks!

To Zuzana0:

You'll be able to buy a weed bomb in the store that will kill all the weeds in your yard. It's one of the varied items that changes every four hours.

To Joy:

Try using a different family member to read email.

To Bmenear:

I've used the scolding hand for drawing on walls, poking plants, banging dishes, and jumping on the bed. :)

My kids just did the cutest thing
I dropped them on each other (it took several tries) but they started to play train. They walked all around the house one after the other. It was so cute.

grinnyp May 11, 2009 3:21 PM

Yay, one of my peeps made it to 65 and I got the last age trophy. Her health is perfect and she's still going strong. Maybe she'll make it to 70.

My husband and wife are both fruit examiners. Where do they go to work?

zuzana0 May 11, 2009 3:48 PM

In Reply:::::
#1--weed problem solved, no need to buy any thing just wait to have a child who is smaller then you use them to pull weed.

#2--there is a trophy for watching movies with the family. where, and how?

#3-- most of the problems of fixing the house or doing chores are self explanitory. just ask yourself what you would do in real life.

I have waded through 4 pages of this site and every third question or so repeats and repeats and repeats. Please read through the pages and look at the spoilers if you have to, it would save the person the heartache of reposting the same info all over again and again.

rhonda pierce May 11, 2009 4:46 PM

I have figured out how to do most of the stuff on this game except for the lottery scratch off. How do you do that?

What is with the hole in the ground. I'm assuming it's gofers, but what, why, & how? Do I need to care that there is a big ol' hole in the ground or do I just ignore it?

To Shauna:

They will also sometimes have a giggle party, which is also very cute. :)

To Grinnyp:

Yay about 65! I had one who died at 64. One of my families is a real hoot. There are six kids and they are very active now that energy levels aren't as bad. I praise them when they study and do chores, so they are all good kids! :D

To Ashley:

All jobs will be either in the kitchen, office, or workshop. I've also posted screenshots in the walkthrough section of the specific areas in each room where you need to drop them. My guess for fruit examiners would be the kitchen.

To Zuzana0:

For watching movies, you buy the DVDs in the store and give them to a parent for the family to watch them together. I think three times gets you the trophy.

To Rhonda Pierce:

The lottery ticket shows up as a random event. You have the option of purchasing a lottery ticket. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

i know how to raise their energy levels

drop your person anywhere near but not directly in the kitchen many times or until you read that they're making coffee. praise them twice to make them do this more often. any more and they'll tell you to stop nagging. make them finnish drinking the coffee and you'll see that their energy level will go up. and also, make sure you praised for doing other things first before you praise them for making coffee again or they'll run away.

ps. you can do this as many times as you want. be patient at first though.

To Bleep:

The hole is for gophers, yes.

When you see a kid "playing on the lawn" with a gopher hole present, praise him/her to get the trophy. The holes will go away on their own.

devlish May 11, 2009 7:19 PM

I found out a good method to guarantee the gopher trophy. I have 5 families going and tested this on each family. It worked every time but it does take some patience.

Pick a younger child, the younger the better. Keep dropping them until it says "Digging a Hole to China". Praise them and wait for the hole to be dug. Then after they dig the hole pick the same child and keep dropping them on the grass near the gopher hole they dug. Then when it says "Playing in the Lawn" Praise them again.

With an older kid I had to drop them alot more to get the response I wanted. I hope this works for everyone else. I tried once using a different child but it only seems to work if you use the same child for both actions.

Thanks for the gopher help. ^^

JenTurn May 11, 2009 8:01 PM

After my first family died/moved on, I started a new family with one daughther. For hours now she refuses to answer the email. She shakes her head "no" whenever I drop her by the computer. Any ideas? She can't marry unless she answers, right?

What is the newest version of virtual family

Anonymous May 11, 2009 8:37 PM

I changed careers and ended up being a vitamin inventor which started at $15. I thought that was a bad move, but the pay raises really got big after about lev 3. by the time she died she was on lev 6 and making $450.

Angelinyourarms May 11, 2009 10:21 PM

How do I get the kids to college or to get a job once they are 18 years old?

To JenTurn:

That's an unusual situation. True, she cannot marry if she refuses to read email. If it's still happening, the only thing I can suggest is that you close the game and restart. If it still happens, you'll probably have to start a new game. Could be that particular little person has a bug in the program.

To Kayce:

To my knowledge, the most current version of Virtual Families is 1.00.05. You can find your version number in the lower left corner of the menu screen.

You don't have to do anything to get the kids to go to college. It happens automatically when the right time comes.

No matter how many times I drop my people near the kitchen, I can'tt get them to make coffee. They are so low on energy all they want to do is sleep. Please help!

[Edit: There has been a new version released that makes the balance of energy much better. You can find your version number in the lower left corner of the menu screen. If it's not 1.00.05, you may want to go back to the site where you purchased the game and download it again. Hopefully, they will have the updated version available. -Pam]

Kimberly May 11, 2009 11:45 PM

How long does the baby stay a baby? When does he/she grow into a child?

And why is it taking so long to make more money?

melliza May 12, 2009 12:20 AM

Hey everyone. I know how to speed up the game.
Just simply change the time or even the date of your own computer.
I use it all the time. It helps :)
-melliza :]

[Edit: We strongly advise against changing your computer clock or date. Not only can it ruin the game, but it can also mess up other functions that rely on the computer clock. -Pam]

I thought this was funny. I put my mom over on the washer and dryer to do the laundry and she started playing pinball. I don't even have the pinball machine yet, lol.

devlish May 12, 2009 1:09 AM

Try it in the morning. If you can't play in the morning go to the main menu and in options turn day into night. Tired people want coffee and breakfast in the morning.

This works for the grande latte even in the original kitchen too

Try different people 14 or over. Some of my people don't seem to want coffee no matter what.

To Kimberly:

The baby will be a child at two years of age.

Raschelle May 12, 2009 3:57 AM

I Have not seen any thing on here about the internet, It is saying that my internet is out, how do i fix it?

To Raschelle:

Drop one of the adults onto the computer and it will get fixed.

what is the use of workshop. No one can work in it. they work in their office.

I still cannot find the precise spot to clean the cobweb. Could anyone post a screenshot to show where it is? Thanks!

hi, the mom is asking for a vacation, is there anything i can do?

tofubean May 12, 2009 6:45 AM

I like this game. Its a lot less stressful than virtual villagers and tiny details really delight me.

Especially the pet! If i keep disturbing the cat or dog, it'll run away and hide. The pet also likes to follow my little people around and always sits near the dinner table when the family prepares a meal. Very cute. :)

Hey my "little freind's" husband AND child died and she is only 35...will she get another marriage proposal in her e-mail or should I just give up?

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 9:52 AM

Just a quick question concerning the repairs. I have only gotten the wall repair kit to come up in the store once and never have gotten the repair kits for the floors or bird bath. I've been playing long enough for one of the kids to go to college. This is getting a little boring waiting for money, kits and so on. Anyone know anything about the kits? Thanks for your help!

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 9:55 AM

Claire...the cobwebs are to the right of the bathroom sink between the sink and the wall. It took me several tries to get it. I tried for a bit then gave up then later in the game I finally got the dad to clean them.

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 9:56 AM

Vinay...the workshop is where they work on hobbies and get the tools for fixing the sinks.

To Nikki:

I have been playing for 3 days with 2 families and I have not seen wall repair kits and only 2 floor repair kits (for two families you need 6). You just have to be patient I think and spend that time trying to get trophies.
Also if you are fooling with the computer clock it messes up the store and will not refresh properly.

[Edit: We strongly advise against changing the computer clock. Not only can it ruin your game, it can also mess up other functions that rely on the computer clock. -Pam]

Thanks Zythe!!!
That was a great soultion to energy levels!! I always thought getting a drink was getting some water. My people's energy levels are through the roof

Thats awsome thanks again!

wait I don't think it's working as well as I thought it was lol

This is how I get the energy levels up:

I check on them before bed and get them all in bed then I turn off the game. (If you keep watching they will keep getting up.)
I check back in the morning and when I turn off the game to go to work myself I change the option to turn day into night so they sleep again.

I have 5 families in their 2nd generation and I have only gotten a lottery ticket once so I guess patience is key here.

Now for my own question:

I know how to put out a fire but in order to get the trophy .... how do I start one?

Like I said 5 families 2nd generation and only 1 oven fire and this was before I knew about the shed :(((

Lasy Guffey May 12, 2009 2:10 PM

Also the workshop is used for some careers, like Inventor

To Claire:

Here is a screenshot of cleaning cobwebs:

Cleaning Cobwebs

To Jaymee:

There's nothing to do about a vacation. She's just making conversation.

To Karp:

I had that very thing happen. The husband was left alone at age 37. He never received another marriage proposal and never got an adoption. I did, however, get him a cat. He lived another 20 years, then my game was over with nobody to take over the house.

To Nikki502:

The items for repairs can take a long time to come around. Just be patient.

To Anita:

You can't start fires. Just wait and another one will come eventually.

To Vinay:

There are three working areas: office, kitchen, and workshop. Yours may only use the office, but many other careers use the kitchen and workshop.

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 3:29 PM

How does one play more than one family at a time? I don't see a way to do that in the option/menu area. Maybe I'm missing something? LOL

First I adopted a lady and then she got married at the age of 29. After a year she had a baby girl at around 30. After that I tried so many times to make another baby but they never agreed and even if they did there was no baby born. Now she just turned 50 years old. On her birthday, I just tried to put them together just to see if they agreed but I wasn't really hoping since she turned 50 already. But guess what? She just had another baby girl at the age of 50!! I don't know, I just find it kinda funny since she has all grey hairs and all.....but I'm still loving the game!!

On the menu screen just click on your name under where it says "current player" and it will bring up a menu to add a family You can have up to 5 families

A 2yr old taking out the garbage? Trying to make babies with kids in the room? shame shame....

I have an issue that I've not had happen before.....I am on my fourth generation, and adopted a daughter who was earning $105/day. She got a promotion and now earns $60/day! Why did her pay go down so much?

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 5:46 PM

Wow, thanks so much Shauna!!

I just started to play Virtual Families and I have been having a couple of problems. I would like to know what Game Site has the updated version and I my people are not earning what they should be. Instead of a $105.00 it registers $1.05. I really like this game so please help asap!!!!

[Edit: CasualGameplay.com has the latest version available (v1.0.5) as of the time/date of this comment. -Jay]

Just a little fun information. My family had 4 children. The oldest just went off to college so thought I would put mom and dad together for a try at another baby.... they argued at first not able to agree on having a baby it said...kept putting them together and guess what??? got twins and got trophy for having 6 children.....this is cute

opps...forgot to mention...5 boys 1 girl...last 4 boys ALL look alike even though they are all not twins...child 3 and 4 look alike but 4 yrs difference in age....and the twins just born but when I check my family list it shows them looking like that other boys 3 and 4....has anyone else had that?

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 6:02 PM

Yes my chars only get 1.05 instead of 105.00, too. They really need to change the money thing as it's so hard to upgrade in this game. Also, for those of you who don't know this, you can get double the money for the collectibles by putting two people down on the coin, nut, etc. Just drop one then another right after. So move them near the thing to be picked up then drop them. Instead of getting 5 you get 10 or 50 you get 100.00 and so on.

The $1.05 versus $105 is not a bug.

While a family member's salary may be $105 a week, they don't get their weekly salary all at once. Rather it is awarded to them in small increments, several each day.

For everyone who is concerned about money:

Say, for example, your person has a salary of $60 per day. When you watch them work and hear the *ching* sound when they earn money, they are actually receiving 1/100 of their salary at that moment. The game doles out the salary over a period of time. You don't get it all at once when a work cycle completes. It accumulates constantly as the game is running as long as your people work on their careers steadily.

When first starting your family, you won't have a lot of money to splurge. But you will have plenty to buy groceries and start on the inexpensive upgrades (gradually). This is a long term game and it can take a couple of generations or more before you can purchase things like the treadmill and pinball machine.

Your people will get raises and promotions which will make it easier to buy more things. Some careers pay more than others, so those little people will naturally have more money to spend.

Please understand that it's not a problem when you see only 60 cents added to your bank balance. Be a little patient and enjoy the game. It's all part of virtual life. :)

Sorry, can't find spoiler to fix hose. I purchased the tape and it says water pressure too high or something like that. What do I do?

Nikki502 May 12, 2009 6:36 PM

Ok, thanks Pam, guess I'm as impatient in this game as I am in real life. LOL.

Becky, you need to go get a drink of water to bring the pressure down then tape the hose. Or take a shower or something like that.

You need to drop your person on the sink It will say Getting a Drink that should trigger the hose to work

What happens to all the family money when the last adult dies? Does it go to the next generation?

To Tammy:

I haven't seen anything like that. I've seen them change careers and take a cut in pay, but not when they get a promotion in the same job. It might be a bug.

To Meme:

According to the developers of the game, they have released the updated version of the game to all of the game sites that are selling it. If you've already purchased the game, you need to go back to the site where you purchased it and download the updated version on top of your existing version. The most current version is 1.00.05.

To Becky:

Oh yes! I've had that happen a few times in my families. The kids look alike, but don't look like the parents! It's really funny.

To Ethan:

Yes, when you select one of the kids to take over the house, they'll have that money in the bank.

To Becky:

Check the walkthrough section located at the top of this page above the comments. Look under Repairs and Household Items, then click on the spoiler for Leaky Hose in the Back Yard.

Thanks Pam, I suppose it might be a bug. Maybe if she get's promoted again it will work itself out? Finger's crossed! The only reason I picked her was for her income....I'm a gold digger!

To Becky:

Take a look at this screenshot of my family tree, showing three generations of kids that look alike! :D

Family Tree

I just wanted to let everyone know know that is it possible to have twins in the first generation. My first family had a set of twin...first try!!! :)

Help! I have a leak in the kitchen sink and don't know how to stop it. I tried dropping somebody on it and then dropping them on the shed but it didn't work.

Duh! I figured it out! I was dropping them on the shed instead of the workshop!! Sorry!

To Vicky:

Not the shed. Drop them in the workshop near the top wall where the toolbox is.

Katie Hahn May 12, 2009 8:36 PM

How do you have multiple families at once?

I was just offered $690 by a collector for my collection of coins and twigs, $20 for each common item, $30 for the uncommons and $100 for each rare one. Is it worth it? How much do you get when you sell the extras on the internet?

Tiffany May 12, 2009 9:25 PM

One of my kids went off to study acting in Europe. I'm up to 5 kids now, since I just had twins. Does anyone know if the max kids is 6 total or 6 living in the house?

Tiffany May 12, 2009 9:29 PM

Hey!! I just got an email from my neighbor. They gave me their extra hammock!!!. Awesome, that's something I don't have to spend money on!
