I don't know how to do the spoiler thing...but for the perfect gift quest I did not have 3 farms. I had 1 farm, 1 general store, 1 saloon, 1 panning mine, 1 lumber camp, and 4 log cabins.
How do I get the Indian Hat? I've played through a couple times and have done everything I know of but I must be missing something. One time I got all 9 Hats but didn't get the designer Award. Drat! Thanks
I need help on the Rusty Bucket Challenge...I cannot get anything accomplished because the bandits won't stop demolishing everything. They come back every 2 minutes and every time there are 2 or 3 of them and I can't afford gunslingers yet.
How do you build the outpost after you plant the trees for the new route?
Againes - To rebuild the outpost,
click on the old broken outpost across the bridge to the right of the trees. An icon to repair the outpost will appear when you click on it.
Donna - on Rusty Bucket,
try having your hero protect the town while your spare villagers go around collecting resources until you have enough money to hire gunslingers. It's definitely tricky to keep the town protected in the beginning though, don't feel discouraged.
prememorie - The Indian hat
is acquired when you defeat McAllister at the end of the game.
thenightlighter - about the trading post challenge:
Are you still having this problem? Sounds like a glitch to me. Did you actually have enough food, or just the capacity to store that much food? Incidentally, for the food collecting quests, sometimes it is easier to just build granaries and collect food instead of building farms.
Anyone know if there is a way to rotate your view? There have been several times that loot will fall behind trees and it is so hard to see to click on. Anyone know of a way to rotate the screen?
Argh! I planted the trees on the hill and got the message to rebuild the outpost, but the game won't let me click on it! And no one is coming to my town to take me to the Earthquake challenge. Has anyone else run into this glitch?
Jen - I seem to remember you could hold the space bar to rotate the view? Try that..
Sarah Bee - Are you sure you're clicking the right building? Its not the shack near the trees, its the building along the trail to the right.
im playing in sandbox mode at duskwater dam. how do get to the object in the center of the river?
Thanks to all of yall for the help. I didnt have anything good to post that someone else hadn't already answered already... Until I found this HIDDEN HAT. You wont find it in the Hat Store.
Have a upgraded (gun) deputy get a hat. It doesn't matter which hat. AFTER he has a hat on, then you get him a horse and it will change into a DEPUTY HAT when he mounts the horse. (Again the order is Upgrade the gun, get a hat, any hat, and then get a horse. The hat then changes automatically)
I'm in the haunted town. Killed the bandits. Need to build a church but only have 6 experience points. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Oldgamer - You might have to come back to that quest once you have more points or have opened up the church - I had that problem too. The trading post and sheriff quests are great ways to get experience points.
Hello I am new to site but not the game.
Need help finding white bunny and with the earthquake town. I have redone that quest 10 times now. Any good ideas people?
Also what is the trick to the haunted pumpkin head town?
Thanks much in advance.
[Edit: Did you check the walkthrough at the top of the page? There may be some information to help you there. -Pam]
Hi. I've been playing this game for about two days now and I'm kinda stuck. I have two problems.
1. I've got the drill together and everything. But I can't seem to find the rocks I'm supposed to have my hero blast. It seems I've blasted just about all the rocks around the drill and still nothing. Does anyone perhaps happen to have a screenshot of which rocks? If I missed it here, sorry.
2. for the bounty wanted poster quest things, I finish the fifth one, but it won't give me anymore after that. Should I build another sheriff's office? I have two up right now.
Thanks for any help :)
erily - about the rocks and the drill -
I don't have a screenshot, but the rocks are on the east side of the raised plateau right above where the drill is. There is a tree on top of the plateau, and rocks on the east side. Does that help?
For the wanted poster bounties,
I think you'll have to wait until you build the next town to open the next set of quests.
I've gotten through most of the game and am now looking for MacAllister in one of the wagons. BUT...I can't shoot any bear to complete the professional challenge. When I click on the bear, they are on a yellow circle rather than a blue one. I can't shoot them. The only other problem I've had was I was locked out of the Smuggle challenge. That guy just came up and said he waited too long and wasn't coming back, so I couldn't complete it. Is there any way to unlock the Professional Challenge so that I can complete?
Lisa - It's possible that you've been locked out of other challenges because you're in the middle of a battle.
You can continue to do quests after beating McAllister though - so I'd suggest saving here in case you want to return to this point, and finishing the battle.
Still need help with the Easter eggs. The screenshots are great but numbers 12 and 13 are missing and 9 is the same picture as 14. Save me!
Eileen - Thanks for the info. I completed all of the quests, found MacAllister, and completed the game and STILL cannot shoot any of the bears. Anyone else have this problem?
How do you beat the "save the farm quest"? I get to "waiting for redd to return" then willy comes and I fail. Is this supposed to happen ?
Tabby - The Save the Farm Quest..
can't be beaten :)
Lisa - What exactly happens when you shoot the bears?
Can you provoke the bears into attacking you, and maybe your hero will defend automatically? Have you tried using a deputy or gunman instead?
PLEASE HELP! Okay so on the sunken treasue...I found the blue rocks. The first thing I tried was to build a well on it. I tried blowing it up. I tried building a fountain. Nothing works. I found this sight while looking for answers. I read that if a well was built there then that is the answer. This is not working for me. Do I have to do something else first.
Also...On the pumpkin curse level. I have been having a hard time with this one, I can now no longer get into the cave to attempt the mission. My charecter won't enter. He doesn't make a comment as to why. It is as if the cave is not there. Is there glitches in the game? There seems to be. I am very far with more resources coming in then I can even use, and do not have any desire to start again. Please HELP!
hello can somebod help me how to get population of 20 to depend the town
Gracie - population of 20
To get a population over 15 you need a sheriff (not only deputy, that's not enough), to come over 20 you have to give them luxery as buildings, plants and what ever else there is offered (sorry, it's a while ago that I played it, so I don't know exactly, what kind of luxery there is)
Help me please! I can not get into the haunted town. Where is this cave? And where have I put the lamp post?
I'm having trouble. I 'm on the new trade route quest where you need to plant trees to stabalize the hillside. I'm trying to plant trees behind the cabin on the left side of the river but it won't let me, and when I plant them on the right side of the river, nothing happens. Anyone else have this problem? What do I do?
why cant I build a bridge?
It keeps telling me I need a lumbermill, well I have 3 of them, I dont understand. Could it be because I messed up before and tried to build a bridge but didnt realize it was on the wrong side of the water and she cant get to it?
I was just wondering if there was a reason to gather up all the resources you don't really need in the side quests.
For instance in the bandit quests you get from the sherrif's office, do you come back with those resources?
you need to get the first key from the cave in the river, it is at the east most part of the river on the bottom portion of your map. You may have to destroy a bridge to get to it, if you have built one between the ramp and the cave.
That shouldn't matter.
Make sure you ahve the resources (I know obvious one). If you still can't I find saving and quiting then coming back sometimes help to reset stuff. If that doesn't work, then you may need to start from a previous save point.
Thea - The trees for the outpost...
need to go on the left side of the river. Maybe you are experiencing a glitch, but try planting them anywhere they'll let you! I think all of mine were up on the hill north of the cabin. Have you unlocked trees from the general store?
Bee1976 - The lamppost for the haunted town...
should be built near the cave on the far east of the map.
One other thing, you sure you have a lumber mill and not just the huts to collect lumber? Sorry I know you said something about trying to build one in your post but just checking.
There are 2 unknown trophies, do we know what they both are?
I have now tossed at least 20 coins in the fountain and still no trophy, any suggestions?
Can someone tell me is there anyway to rotate the view on the game. I have an egg behing the cliff, but the characters will not pick it up
Hold down the space bar and you can rotate the scene. Just see where the egg is and drag your hero to it even if it's behind the tree.
Regarding the egg hidden behind the tree (and who would have thought to LOOK there???): You can't pick anything up in rotated view. So in normal view, just push somebody around behind the tree--left and right, but mostly AWAY--until the pointer changes, and then click.
To thenightlighter and anyone else failing their first Trading Post Challenge: What the failure message fails to tell you is that you don't get credit until and unless you click the "!" balloon and REPORT you've got the necessary material.
I consider this message failure a programming error, so I am NOT putting spoiler marks on it.
There is one last frustration available from the stupid Earthquake Valley quest. (Any quest where the most reasonable way to pass the challenge offered is by saving so as to avoid actually getting that challenge is, by me, stupid.)
If you build north of the path where you first enter, build well north of it and/or east or west of the signpost. Because when you've finally succeeded, if Harris Pilton doesn't get to stand exactly where he wants to, the quest doesn't end. It just keeps going.
Moreover, if you try to Load a game saved after that catastrophe, the program freezes.
ChristineB, here's the answer someone else pointed out about gathering up the wood and gold you don't need during side quests:
You can use those resources to buy Buildings, Upgrades, and/or Luxuries in the Store before you leave the quest. This is similar to using the Health Kits and Gun Upgrades you pick up there--they don't come back with you, but the effects do.
Also, I want to thank someone for pointing out that you can have a second Sheriff's office, and thus get extra Deputies. Because that means I can have enough people so that most of them don't get killed at the higher levels of the side quests. (Yes, I know it's only a game--but I still don't like sending personnel out with the *expectation* that they'll die.)
Back to that egg bit: Apparently if you get frustrated enough with one behind a tree, you can
dynamite the tree without harming the egg.
Can't say that I've tried that, but it's covered elsewhere in these postings
Jenni, about not being able to build a Bridge:
Whenever you go to build anything, you always get the messages about prerequisites above the Build space. They matter only if the item is grayed.
So if you have a Lumber Mill (or more), and can't build a bridge, look to the main playing space for a message. For instance, that:
* The character can't reach the building site
* Your attempted build site is blocked
* You need a certain amount of Gold and Wood--meaning you're short on one or both.
The spoilers about the HIDDEN HAT are true but misleading.
All that happens, in my experience, is that the hat the deputy bought *changes back* to the standard deputy hat once you have him mounted.
Which is silly and not worth even the 5 extra gold it costs.
If I'm missing something, please comment.
I have a question and I am really stuck, its probably something stupid I am missing but I can not get to Willy to talk about revenge on mcallister. How in the world do you get to him?
Also,if I am running out of gold and my panning mills are out how do I get more points to build and more gold if I have collected everything I can get to? Do I need to restart? Because I can't rescue the 2 lumberjacks, can't get to willy, or research the gold mine. I am new at this type of game and love it but I'm struggling and I have been working on it for days. I appriciate any help.
to kill bears clickyour person and right click bear i normally die 3 times before its dead if i use main charecter so if you dont kill it in one go dont worry it doesnt regenarate like bandits.
with the sunken tresure once you have built the well click on it to jump in
i need to build a bank to finish the con quest, but don't have enough points. How do i get back to the trading post or cook off qwests. my farms have been producing corn and carrots forever it seems like. i have the red snapper and the deer.
grammajoe - Can't you hit exit to leave the quest? You should be able to return to it later once you have enough points.
Steph - Have you found the lumberjacks? Have you crossed the river?
There are two sets of rocks blocking parts of the map/. If you blow up the rocks in the river blocking the southern gold deposits, you can reach the lumberjacks.
i found the lumberjacks and have saved them. i'm needing to get into another quest so i can get some more points to get the bank, so i can finish the quest with willy.
Love the site, very helpful but i'm in a bit problem right now.
I can't find the mechanic on the red arrow on the southern part of the map.
i fixed all the buildings, increased population and is maintaining the count, although i guess earlier one got hungry and left. after all of the above, i hired somebody to work for the store to buy a dynamite, i fired him and put him to work at the saloon and hired one gunslinger only. I blowed up the area where i can distract the bandits, but when i walked towards the red map, Mr. Mechanic isn't showing up.
Did i just missed something? Tried reading any post about it but JIGuest question on page 2 wasn't really answered clearly.
I'll appreciate if somebody drops hints! Thanks!
squeekz - The mechanic doesn't actually appear by the arrow,
You have to drag him along with your entire group over there. If you lasso all your people he will be in there somewhere!
I did save the 5 lumberjacks with the bridges but I cannot save the 2 lumberjacks on the island in the main area and I do not have enough points or gold to do anything so I am really stuck. I would really appriciate any help. Thanks
in the trading post quest, i built the grainery,(cant'spell) actually built to with a capacity of 40. I got the 40 but it still says i failed the quest. all i need is 25.
grammajoe - Sounds like a glitch. Did you actually HAVE 40 food, or just the capacity to hold 40 food?
steph - If you have any other open quests available, you can do those to get points and gold. If you have a sheriff's office or trading post, the trading post and wanted poster quests are great ways to get points. If you get the gold to build something for the first time, you can get points for that. Otherwise you will probably have to start from a save point - remember to save backup points that you can return to!
I actually had 40 food points. I have tried this quest at least 20 times. It keeps saying I have failed.
if there is a glitch, how does it get corrected?
You can have some of the saved people build a mine in the river and mine the gold there. Also put some to work cutting lumber. They can also dig gold from the small piles of gold.
grammajoe - You could try loading the game from a save point and seeing if that helps. Otherwise you might have to start over, or contact customer service where you purchased the game about the bug. Wish I had better advice!
Hello All !
Can I tell you that all your hints and spoilers saved me alot of time ; )
Anyhoo, I've finished the game and I'm on to collecting all the trophies. Are there any special tasks to complete?
I've done the egg hunt, grown grapes, built the butter churn, ostriches, etc.
I can't get the pirate hat (I missed the treasure hunt in the first town) and I failed the smuggling challenge, missing the winery. And I'm still missing the cheese hat and the last two secret items at the store.
If someone could let me know if I'm truly done, or missed something, I'd appreciate it.
Hi. I was wondering do you have to wait until the second town to do the egg hunt? I'm in the first town and I've built 2 and 3 chicken ranches but nothing happends. I'm guessing a pop up will show saying something about it like all the other mini quests. Am I missing something?
JIGuest - Cheese Hat
- you need to build two cattle ranches and 3 butter churns
I have a question.
When I played the game the second time I got the Bandit Boss and a Wolf (a Guard dog), this was because I had completed the sandbox challenges. I found the 2 resources very useful in some of the quests, particularly when I ran out of gold and couldn't afford a gunslinger.
But I only got them for the first town, how do I get them for the second town? Do I need to replay the sandbox challenges?
clevername - Yes, you can't access the egg hunt until the second town.
I need to mine for silver, for the silver ring. However, before this quest became an option, I had already mined ALL deposits. Is there any way of getting this silver on the side quests then?? Please help...
Matt - Sorry, but you'll have to start from a previous save point. The silver doesn't regenerate!
One of my town folk has become a drunk, Help!!
Amy - The only way to deal with a drunk is to have a sheriff's office, and drag your sheriff onto the drunk. The drunk will be put in jail until they get their act together, and can then rejoin your village.
How do you build the stable. i don't see that option. also, i have the white rabbit in the crate, but can't do anything with it.
Take your hero to the rabbit crate and he/she will pick it up. Do you have a sheriff's office yet?
Yes, I have the sheriff's office, and have taken the hero to it, but will not pick it up. Also,
There is also a spoiler for taking a bunny to a hole, where it will bring out a treasure chest. Where is this hole? i have a lot of white bunnies running around.
[edit: spoiler added. -eileen]
grammajoe - You've unlocked the stable in your buildings menu? And regarding the rabbits, which town are you in and what quest are you doing? There are several that involve bunnies.
i got the bunny for the traveler. i actually had to blow up a granary so the hero could get to it. now i have the stables but no black horses. i am in the second town. still don't know what to do with the bunny as far as finding a hole for it. i did go into a cave and found the haunted town, which i have solved. also on the 5 barrels, i solved that yesterday, but it is making me do it again.
I have completed the earthquake request, and haris pilton started to show on the screen, then disappeared. If I go back to town, it still has the guy wanting to know if i want to go to the earthquake challenge. How do I get back to town, with the completed earthquake quest?
Rescue the Mechanic
In the walkthrough guide it says:
Set the townsfolk to work at the lumber camp, the gold mine, and farm.
I've gone into this quest several times...even started the game over to make sure I have the bank with 800 gold. But, I can't do anything once I get there. Townspeople don't say anything and they are in yellow rings and can't be moved. I can't repair buildings and I can't get a build menu either. I've picked up all the gold, logs, and food I can find and still can't do anything.
Did I miss something before I got there? I've got a ton of gunslingers and deputies this time, too. Anyone have any ideas?
I have a problem! How will the drunk people recover?
MACKIE - You need a sheriff's office to deal with a drunk. Drag your sheriff onto the drunk who will then be jailed until they recover, and can later rejoin your village.
castlemve - Is any dialogue happening when you get to the village? Did you find Willy?
grammajoe - Black horses...
are a random event. You just have to keep trying until one appears.
The rabbit treasure..
happens in the first town.
Your earthquake quest problem sounds like a glitch. If you are certain you've completed the quest requirements and talked to the people you need to, then I can only suggest reloading from a save point. Good luck!
The only dialogue is with the sheriff (?) who talks about the bandits tearing up the town and lets the hero (the female who isn't pocohantas) and gunslingers check the buildings for the mechanic. But the hero can't get into any of the buildings and can't repair them. None of the townspeople speak to her at all and can't be moved. I tried to build something but can't get the build menu.
The first time on the quest, after not getting a rise out of anything in town, I found where the bandits were and headed straight over there (picking up all resources along the way). The bandits killed everyone off so I went back to town to see if anything would happen and nothing. I restarted the quest several times with no results (except everyone getting killed by the bandits), and then went back to the first town and tried to get the bank going but couldn't get the experience points so gave up and started the game all over.
Now I'm back there with 800 gold in the bank and a huge amount of gunslingers and deputies and it is the same as before. Haven't tried for bandits yet, though. The walkthrough suggests getting the townspeople working as the 3rd step, so I assume I should be able to do that before I head off to get the bandits.
The only quests I have back in the first town is to find the mechanic and several follow-on ones that start with preparing the drill, which I think needs to be done in the second town after finding the mechanic.
castlemve - You have to find the mechanic before you can repair anything, I think.
You should find the mechanic in the bank - move your hero in front of it and he should come out and talk to you to trigger the rest of the quest. Does that work for you?
That did the trick! My hero was standing right in front of the bank -- I just had to move her a little closer.
Ok~ so I'm Sure this has been answered by now.... but....
I'm on the Drill for Documents quest and all my guys are just standing by the locked gate. How do I get them in? i figured they'd have to drill thru or something, but, where's the drill? Am I not supposed to be there yet?
gami - There should be some bandits guarding a barricade.
Have your gunmen attack the bandits - when they are gone, the move the mechanic in front of the barricade and the drill will automatically appear.
Wow~ thanx for the quick response. I'll try it out.
next problem.... I can't find all the
Try holding the space bar down and use your mouse to turn the screen shot. The eggs like to hide behind trees.
Look at the walk through for their locations.
Sorry~ I didn't see it on the walkthru! (blonde moment)
In the game, once you have moved on to the Baron Family Migration task (in the new town), I cannot seem to keep water in my town. I'm not sure why that is. I wondered if anyone can help??
Denise - Check your water consumption (from your farms) compared to how much is produced by your wells. You might need to build another well or water storage.
Eileen, thanks for your quick response. However, I currently have three farms and two ranches, as well as 107 water capability. But I have 0 water. And it continuously says 0 water and that my town is out of water. For whatever reason, I cannot keep water, and I cannot figure it out. I thought maybe this was some task I needed to complete or something. I have no clue. If anyone knows, please holler!
I can't find Redd's hidden supplies :(
I've been to everywhere around the rock arch, but still nothing.
Can anyone please post a picture for where the supplies are?
Help! How do you unlock the butter churner and the winery? I'm almost done. I have grapes growing I've turned all my ranches into cow ranches and nothing. What do I do?
I can't seem to find the "gold Barrels" that I have bought. I mean I bought them but now they are where? I'm confused! Help!!
JIGuest - The gold barrels simply appear when you are standing at the correct location (the red arrows). A button will appear asking if you'd like to place the barrel.
Complete resource smuggling quest in second town, and reward is winery.
Complete all trading post challenges and butter churn appears in unlock menu.
Quick question about the black horse (I've built a billion stables and still nothing) Does the horse appear in the actual stable or is it running around somewhere outside of the stable?
Lucy - black horse
Sorry, I can't recall it anymore, but I'm sure, in the FAQ-Section on top of the comments, you will find the answer :)
I am stuck at the Sunken Treasure thing. I HAVE the key. Went to the haunted town, and I built a well in the middle of those rocks. No matter what I do, my hero won't go into the well.
I've tried rebuilding the lamppost and get back in, but that didn't work.
I had a previous save and I finished the Haunted town mission again, but still no luck.
I'm SURE I have the key, I even demolished my bridge again to see if it would appear again, but it says I already have it.
Does anyone know if you maybe have to finish something else first? The last westward I played had a bug really late in the game and I am seriously going to kill someone if this is the case again! *rage!!*
Charlotte - I'm sorry to say that this is probably a bug in the game - many people have reported it. Apparently Sandlot was working on a fix..
...They believe it occurs when you build the well before you are supposed to in the quest. Then even when you have the key it doesn't work. Did that happen to you? If so, if you reload from a save point you may be able to get past this.
Otherwise you may want to contact the developer or publisher. http://bigfishgames.custhelp.com/app/ask
Ugh, I don't have previous save...at least not from before I got the key. Do you need to finish this mission to finish story line? I don't think so right? I've been doing really well besides that.
Charlotte - You're right, you don't need it for the main storyline. It's just a treasure quest. Good luck!
Question- I am on Trading Post Challeng #7 and I need 50 water. I have built 3 water towers, have 3 lumber camps, 1 panning mine and have 10 people employed. My water level isn't rising above 10. What do I need to do to get it up to 50?
