Please Help with Sandbox Mode
Is it at all possible to get the...
winery and butterchurn
... in sandbox mode?
It would be more fun to build it all.
Also, after the bandit showdown, is there a genuine end? It says "You can keep playing to see how long you last."
Does that mean there are no other quests once you complete the main one?

amy - the other item is
wine. Access to the winery is opened by completing the Resource Smuggling quest at the beginning of the second town.

elle - i believe that after you complete the main quest, it leaves the game open to finish all the side quests and open the secret items.

Either I've ran into a glitch or there doesn't seem to be any side quests after you complete bandit showdown. And without the other quests, there is no way to get at least one of the hidden luxary items. That's too bad.
When is Westward IV coming out?

Elle, what hidden luxury items are you referring to? Do you mean the three items sold in the General Store? Or the ostriches, wineries, and butter churns? Check the walkthrough guide for tips on how to get these items.
Once the sandbox quests are completed, that is is for trophies.
And yes, they can't create WW4 fast enough for me, too!

I am having a really hard time with the rusty bucket challenge. I lost count as to how many times I re-started! My gunslingers keep getting killed by the bears, and the bears keep destroying the farm and granery! The wolves aren't much better. The bandits are bad too. Please help give me some tips!
JIGuest - How many gunslingers do you have? I tried to have my hero help with the fighting as much as possible in this quest. You might want to heal your gunslingers between fights if you can afford it too.

on the westward trading quest what foods do u need to make for the first one an how in only 3 mins iv treid it all an never win.
Is there any other hidden character/object aside of the hats, headless horseman, winery, butterchurn, ostriches and grapes that can be unlocked by doing certain things suring the game?
Does anybody know if something happens by hiring several $150 gunslingers? Same inquiry about getting several chubby woodcutters.

My town keeps starving. Can anyone help me with that? I've fished all of the rivers/ponds and my farm and ranch don't seem to be producing. I have a windmill and a smokehouse. HELP!!
joe - usually for the food quests i just build enough granaries so my storage capacity is high enough, and then fish or hunt until i have enough food. good luck!

katie - can you say more about what's happening? maybe your water supply isn't sufficient, or you don't have enough workers? try changing your crop to corn to increase your output.

Hey. So Im on the quest to deposit 800 gold in the bank but I am at 27 experience and need 3 more experience to build the bank. Ive finished all the side quests including the sheriff quests and trading post quests...I also built all of the buildings I could and I still don't have the needed experience...Tips please? Thanks : )
Kimberly - Unfortunately, all the things you listed would have been my suggestions... you may have to back up and be more careful about how you spend your experience points... But please post if you figure out another way to get experience!

Regarding "Problems with the well":
I believe this is a user error, not a bug. If you don't have the key yet, the hero will not go down the well. I made this error the second time through and was getting very frustrated when I realized I hadn't retrieved the key yet. Once you grab the key, the hero goes right down.

I am doing the quest with the fires and earthquakes and have done pretty well so far, but despite having room for 20 people in my hotels, no more than 15 people will come to town. I have plenty of food and jobs, but can't figure out how to get more people to come so that I can get up to 20 and get rid of the "low population" counting against my town happiness. Why won't more than 15 people come?
Meredith- You need a sheriff's office to have a population of more than 15.

To kill the bears, hire a sherriff and deputies, and/or a couple of gunslingers and take ALL of them to gang up on the bears. I only got the lawmen and we killed all three of them. I suppose we can only gang up on them because they are so big. Hope this helps!! Oh, be sure you have a tannery built and employed so you can get the pelts for the bears before you go shooting them!

I have all of the hats except, apparently, the fruit one. How do I get it?
Also, for trading post challenges where you have to round up people:
If you destroy the tents after the trading post worker collects them, you can frequently get wood out of it and then you don't have to worry about feeding 12 people. I usually destroy tents so that I only have housing for five people and that's what will fill up.
I've found that this helps, especially when you need to gather wood.
@Gill, regarding not being able to find any deer: it didn't look like your question had been answered and I had the same problem, so here is my solution:
To get more deer:
To get deer when there are none, I've found that killing rabbits works. Perhaps there is a wildlife quota or something, but I killed several rabbits and then deer appeared to replace them.
Thus, I finally finished that quest. Hope this helps, and this site has saved me loads of headaches over the past few weeks, so thanks to everyone who contributes!
This may be a silly question, but in the New Trade Route quest, it says I have to rebuild the outpost. Ss there a specific place I have to rebuild it? I tried rebuilding an outpost just anywhere and it doesnt work! Help!

There is an old outpost on the wagon trail to the north. Click on it, and an icon will pop up that lets you rebuild if you have enough materials.

I have nearly completed the earthquake quest and i keep getting an error message has anyone else had this and does anyone know how to fix it please
How do I choose the best profession? I have completed all three tasks, but can't figure out how to choose the best one? I have trie clicking on each person, but that doesn't seem to work.

Each one should have a speech bubble and when you click on it, the person will ask you whether you think their profession is the best and you click "Accept" (I think) to choose their profession. It doesn't matter really which one you pick, although the lumberjack will give your lumber camp a slight boost if employed there. If there are no speech bubbles, have you sent your hero over to where they are?
Hi, everytime I finished rescuing the lumberjacks, I returned to town finding that the "Save the Farm" quest failed (with a big X in the box). What could I have done to have got that?

hi im getting problem on :
1st "FIND THE TREASURE"
2nd " FIND THE OLD ENTRANCE"
ive tried to make a well in between the blue rocks and the name of the well is "Timmy's Terror" but still i cant find the treasure. ive already been at the cave for the key...
can anyone try to help me..

Hi,
I've read all the posts, and can't find an answer....in the DRILLING FOR DOCUMENTS quest, I have defeated all bandits, and the mechanic is drilling into the side of the bank, but that is all he will do. He never gets through the bank wall. Help!
ekitty - in drilling for documents:
have you approached the bank with your hero and guns to fight the last batch of defenders? maybe he won't get through until you have finished all the fighting...

I am having a problem inviting Redd's family to town. I think I missed raising the needed supplies in time from everything that I have read. It is still showing as an open challenge.

Is there a way to get back to the haunted town? I was struggling with it so I left thinking that I would come back later but I can't seem to get back to it. If I can't get back there, how can I can I get the final 7 votes needed.
You can also kill a bear if you have got a lot of time with your hero alone. The hero "dies" three times but then the bear dies. This saves on the hired guns. T
JIGuest - Another person seemed to be able to get back into the haunted town by blowing up and rebuilding the lamp post until the hero went into the cave..

How do you finish the bandit show down? I'm stuck on level 6 extreme and have finished a few waves, but always die.

I did try talking to Redd. He does not have a ! over his head, but it is still showing as an open quest.

hi, im new to this can anyone help me please. i cant get past the save the farm when you 1st get the panning mines. a man and the sheriff take away my mines and then i get a cross in the save the farm quest even though i have 400 gold

Katie, I just had the same problem with my town starving - I had all my people working on food production and that still wasn't enough.
Then I built 2 more wells and that solved the problem!

Hi. I'm a little confused on rebuilding the outpost. Does that mean I need to build a trading post? It won't let me repair the shack at the top left of the screen. And nothing happens when I click on the station.
I'm having a hard time with the well in the blue rocks. Everytime I build one I can't get my hero to go into it. I drag her on top and she does nothing. Right click, nothing. Thoughts?
Also, where is the hole I'm supposed to drag the bunny into?
katie - the rabbit hole is in the first town.
about dragging your hero into the well,
have you obtained the key from the river yet? people seem to have been having problems with that.

Katie - to get the key,
there is a chest in the small cave IN the river. drag your hero there and it will appear.
to rebuild the outpost,
have you received the quest to repair it? you can't rebuild until then. once you've completed the requirements a popup menu will appear when you click on it.

Yes I've planted the trees. I must be blind. There is a station, but when I click on it I can't do anything.
Also, the key.....I blocked the small cave with a bridge. Can't blow it up or move it. Is that the cave your talking about?
Hi. I'm having a problem with defeating McAllister at the very end of the game. I defeated the bandits and destroyed the wagons at 4 of the places: the west side by the tall tree, the southwest side, the south side, and the east side in the trees near the cave to the haunted town. My problem is I destroyed the bandits on the road to the north, near where the train crosses the river, but it won't let me destroy th wagon. When I click on it, it doesn't do anything or have the red enemy line over it or anything. I tried closing Westward and starting it back up, but still the same thing. I had saved at different points, but all of my saves were after McAllister started attacking the town. I'm not going to restart the whole game over just to get to this point. :(
How on earth do you gain knowledge points?
Katie - when you click on the outpost, it should open an options menu on the bottom part of the screen. it's similar to when you click on a farm and can choose the food type. this is actually how you can destroy your bridge as well - click on it, and a demolish button with a bomb icon should appear in the menu.

Howdy All...I was wondering if anyone had advice on getting water? I have many water tower things built but still my water says zero. Also my town is starving despite having two farms and a pig farm as well. I'm assuming the starving is caused by no water. How a town can go thirsty being surrounded by rivers is beyond my understanding but if anyone has some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have built 20 horse stable and I still haven't gotten the black horse!! What do I do?
Sharon - you just have to keep trying. one trick is to
save the game while a stable is being built. then if the horse is not black, you can load that game and try again.

ok, I am having a problem with the game. I am at the end when you have to get on the train to go to the election, and every time I get on the train, the next page will start loading, the game freezes up, or at least I think it is freezing up. Has anyone else had this problem, or does it just take a really long time for it to load the next page?

For the Horse Corral quest, my hero can't shoot the water tower. None of my gunslinger can! What do I do?
Deirdre - Make sure you're standing in the correct location - you need to have your hero a bit to the right of the tower, on the little hill.

has to be grown. Build a flower bed, then have a citizen water the flower bed by clicking on it until the flowers turn red.
Stacie - The winery..
is opened by completing the resource smuggling quest near the beginning of starting your second town.

sounds like wine should be in your store if all those buildings are employed. I don't think you're the first person to have this problem - if you figure it out, let us know.

..might be related. You obtain it by growing grapes on three farms at the same time.

I have completed all the quests and even though I have all nine hats in the Hat store, I have not been awarded the Fashion Designer trophy, so I have all trophys except that one and the unknown. Anybody else have this problem? Any fix? Thank you.
I tried selling hats and low and behold, I got the trophy. I love this site, even if I did answer my own question! Thank you!

Please can you help a newbie? I didn't have to build a saw mill to rescue the lumber jacks. Now I can't build one or build any bridges. Also, I can't make my hero go to the west side of the playing field. I have blown up all the rocks around the stone arch but she won't go across. She will walk all the way around to get to the other side. My guest is to meet Willy but I can't get there. I trid going back and replaying previous guest and it does no good. I am stuck with out a saw mill and can't build bridges or a sheriffs office. I got drunks all over the place and can't do anything about it. This is the first game of this kind I have played. Maybe I should have chosen an earlier version to begin with. Any help you smart gamers can give me would be appreciated.

1st Trading Post Quest
Just started WW3 and am stuck trying to get the 25 food. I see lots of food but don't have dynamite to get to it and can't find any. I get to 20, pick up bushes etc, have 2 people fishing I'm hunting and it never moves beyond 20. I'm sure I must be missing something. Also, game freezes every time I'm in this quest. Thanks.

I am in the side quest for the Trading Post, and they are asking for 45 food. I start with 20 and to increase the base number I have added a farm, but that only gave me a total of 25. If I try to get enough resources to build another farm the time runs out.
Also, when I have acquired over 20 food, it does not show. Help please!

I just started Westward 3 yesterday and I'm having a problem with the 1st trading post challenge. I apologize if this has been asked before, but if I read all the posts I'll find out tons of things that I DON'T want to know yet. Spoiler tags or not, you find out how to do things you didn't even know you were going to need to do, just by seeing the answers to other people's questions. I know it can't be helped, it's just the price of getting questions answered, but I just started and I don't want to know all that stuff.
Anyway, my problem is this: I am supposed to get 25 food in 3 minutes. I built a farm, 2 graineries and have been hunting and gathering and fishing. When the final second of the 3 minutes ticked off I had 45 food, yet it still said I failed the challenge. What am I missing here? Is this a glitch of some kind?
BTW, to gameyjane, I had the same problem until I realized there was another arch at the very bottom of the screen. it leads into a round area where you can climb up the ridge. The boulders are on that ridge, not the ridge by the river.
