few questions on parenting in the game:

1.) can the mother of a nursing child die? and if so, does the nursing child die also, or is it handed off to another tribe member?

2.) reguarding the parenting skill itself;
once a woman is 50, i notice she can still "go indoors" though she cannot get pregnant. Because she does not pregnant, she simply increases in parenting skill... apparently. The thing is, her parenting detail bar doesnt seem to be going up no matter how many times i have her "go indoors"
could this be a glitch in the game or am i just not being patient enough?

3.) and lastly, if you do not check up on your villagers for an extended period of time will they procreate on their own? I'd certainly hate to come home from vacation to find all my villagers had died of old age. =)

thank you for your time.

So I finished all the puzzles and the prince and princess appeared and then my villagers went up to celebrate and they were gone? What the heck, Where's my darn story???!???!??!

Make the prince and princess appear again the same way as you did before, then just drop a villager on them to see the story.

About mothers and parenting -

It's possible for a nursing mother to die, like any other villager. I've only heard one story about it, though, and I believe the baby died, too. As for increasing parenting skills, it's slow. I was trying to get a jack of all trades and it seemed like it took forever with lots of going indoors. One thing that may help, they don't have to actually do the walk and go into the shack. The skills come as soon as you hear the kissing sound. That's the point when you'll see "improved at parenting" at the bottom. You can then just keep dropping them on top of each other a lot faster.

About leaving the tribe on its own -

If the tribe is big enough, it will sustain itself for a long time. Another option is to put the game on pause if you're going to be away for awhile. Use the spacebar to pause or click pause on the options menu.

Quick Question...
Whats the clothes hut?
Where is it and how do you build it?
Once its built, what can you do with it?

Thanks!

Reply

To Nicole:

About the clothing (sewing) hut -

The clothing hut foundation shows up late in the game. The foundation will appear between two of the existing huts. Once you've built it, you just drop a villager on it to buy them a new set of clothes for 5000 tech points. It's helpful when you have identical villagers and want to set them apart from each other. I also do things like put all my doctors in black and white so they are easy to spot in the crowd when someone is sick.

Reply

So the clothes/sewing hut just shows up randomly?
Or do you have to complete something first for it to become available?

Reply

To Nicole:

The sewing hut appears to be random. I once had all the puzzles done and it didn't show up until I had purchased the final piece of technology. Another time, it showed up shortly after the statue went up.

so i think that the children should be able to pick the collectibles up by themselves because its really kinda of annoying to wait for them to just appear. and i am having a hard time finding the feathers i know they just appear but do they appear more in one spot than another? and how long does it take to get the fire to sparkle i have finished all the other puzzles but that one and the one for the door to actually finish the game.

The feathers appear randomly. They can show up pretty much anywhere on the island, which is different from the other collectibles that are found only in their specific areas.

I stupidly tried the changing my computer's clock thing, and it worked beautifily EXCEPT my fire has 422 hours on it! I've already burned through about 100 hrs and still no sparkling fire and my villagers still "get a drink." I'm worried I'll never get the final gem! And I don't want to wait 17 hrs & I'm not even sure if it will go down. What do I do??? Any ideas??
And I really don't want to start over, I'm so far... I only need the final gem and to open the door...
HELP PLEASE!?!

Reply

To Laura:

I always advise against changing the computer clock because it can really mess up the game and other functions on your computer that rely on the clock. I can only suggest that you exit the game and go back in, hoping that maybe that something will reset. Also maybe let the fire die out just to see if the gem shows up. It shows up for me at around 45 to 50 Isola years.

Good luck! :)

Reply

Pam,
I paused the game and when back foward to the correct date because I was worried about killing them if it wasn't paused, but nothing changed or reset. Like I said, I stupidly changed the clock. I guess I'm just going to have to wait 17 days. *sign*

You need to put the Chief on top of the path next to the door. He/she will do a little spinning dance and you'll hear a gong sound. That's when you need to look for the rare collectible. Note: You must have level 3 Leadership.

Try dropping your Chief on the path next to the statue. There's a "hot spot" on the path where it makes them go back to work on the statue.

Hi. I would just like to say thank god for this site lol! It has helped me massively.

I am now nearly finished with this game, I just have one little problem.. I cannot seem to retrieve the White Gem from the fire :( I did as you said before and waited for the fire to go out, it has went out twice now and I still found nothing there. I don't recall seeing sparkles above it either which is quite worrying, and my little villagers keep going to drink water from the waterfall and not fill any bowls. I am not quite sure where to go from here, I am losing my patience lol!

Also, someone mentioned triplets? Since I am just sitting waiting around for this White Gem, I decided to give some of my female villagers under 50 the chance to make some more babies.. So at the moment I have 15 babies waiting to grow up, and three sets of them are triplets! I never bothered using a potion, and the mothers are still quite young and did not have any Parenting experience.. The only thing they have in common is the fact that the father is the Tribal Chief lol! I am not quite sure if this is just plain luck, but give it a try? Like you said Pam, it is more common in the later stages of the game

Anyway, sorry for the essay and any advice would be great thanks.

Ignore my previous comment about the White Gem thats found in the fire. I finally managed to get it! Third time lucky.. Completely finished the game now, including the Collections so I am really pleased. Thank you :)

I am trying to get a Jack of all Trades. My villager is already a Master Farmer and Scientist. I put her on most of the statue and even after its completion, she is still only an Adept Builder. I keep dragging her to repair huts, but the bar will not move. She is an Adept Healer and she is currently pregnant for the first time at 40. She is my last chance to get a JOAT. Any suggestions to get just a little more building skill? It's so close.

Does anybody know if personal traits get passed along to offspring? My villager is a runner, which is awesome, and I am hoping her offspring will be one too.

Also note, it will be difficult to gain a parenting mastery with the first baby coming at age 40. She can only have babies until age 50. You'll have to really stay on her to keep telling stories and going indoors (without having a baby).

I have bought all the stuff, and I use the correct potions, they show full health but they still die...any ideas?

Reply

I finished all the puzzles, and got the story, but I never got the sewing hut. When am I supposed to get that?

Reply

For denisek:

I've seen your question pop up a couple of times, actually, so this is really for everyone trying to keep their elders alive longer. I've had several live well into their 90s, and one that just died at the age of 99.

First, mind the basics - make sure you have lots of food reserves and you keep your fire burning. This contributes to the health of all your villagers. Make sure you're maxed on medical tech and you've solved the "aroma therepy" puzzle.

Once you've taken care of those basics, make sure ALL your villagers who are old enough to work get training in medicine. You can train them in shifts, then send them back to some other task, but the more trained doctors you have, the longer your villagers live. Some of my folks are getting really, really old. They move slower and slower and some of them develop a penchant for telling jokes. It's funny.

I hope that helps. I hope your villagers live very long indeed!

Every 24 hours, your chief can point out a rare collectible. This means that there is a rare collectible somewhere on the island for a short time when the chief does the little turn/dance/rainbow/gong thing. The rare collectible will show up in all the usual places, and it will disappear after a short while. To do this, you need to put your chief at the top of the path, to the right of the door that has the gem door keys. Before you can build the statue, a Master Builder has to build the scaffolding. Just fly your Master Builder along the path near where the statue is broken until you see "a good spot to anchor the statue". Once the scaffolding is done, you can start on the statue itself.

About the rare collectibles -

When the chief points out a rare collectible, it means that there is one somewhere on the island. They will be in the usual places... the beach, by the waterfall, near the rubble, etc. You have to seach all the areas and hope that you find it before it disappears.

It sounds like you are early in the game with 9 villagers (the max capacity will be around 90). It's harder to have babies early in the game. If they are going indoors, you're doing it right, though. You don't actually have to wait for them to go indoors. As soon as you hear the kissing sound, it's done. You can keep dropping them on each other over and over with the kissing sound until the population counter goes up. Then they will be having a baby! As a note: villagers can start having babies at age 18 and women stop having babies at age 50.
