I have an elder at age 62 about ready to die and I am trying to get him to be a Jack of all Trades. However, the builders are too slow and stubborn and the hut won't be built, so my Elder can't finish his parenting (right now he is an adept parent) and the stories aren't moving his status any. How do I get his parenting skill to improve so he can be a jack of all trades?

Reply

To Wes:

Parenting is the most difficult skill to master, for sure. However, the building of a hut doesn't have anything do to with it, so I'm not sure what you mean about that part. The best way to get master level at parenting is -

Drop your elder on a female who is too old to have babies. You can do it over and over to gain parenting skill without worrying about overpopulation. Just remember, it's slow going and it will look like you're making no progress on the bar, but you really are.

I believe I have ran into a glitch in the game. I have completed a ton of the puzzles but I can't seem to find anyone who fits the robe, thus I am without a Tribal Chief. I have googled like crazy and so far I have yet to find a solution (I can't even find anyone else who has this same issue!) I have 17 people and no one will fit the robe! Help!

Reply

To Stephy:

Actually, many people have asked this same question here. So many, in fact, that we put it in the FAQ at the top of this page. Check question #6 for some help. :)

In addition -

With only 17 people, you should be able to find the chief. It's when the village grows to nearly a hundred people that it really gets hard!

In your case, if none of your people fit the robe, maybe you have a nursing mother. The mother and the baby cannot try on the robe until the baby is two years old and the mother is finished nursing.

I hope this helps and you find your chief!

Hi everyone. I've used this site loads, but this is my first comment and I don't know how to do screenshots, but will try and explain without them.

There are two seperate piles of rocks under the medical center. The one closest to the bath cannot be worked on. This is simply where your villagers will get rocks from to fix your bath, whereas the pile next to it nearest the grave yard is where they will move the rubble.

I believe that the lectures are there to educate the children as they only started working once I had purchased leadership 2. I just wasnt expecting the adults to join.
I've had the game for a few weeks now and got pretty far. Only 2 days ago, I checked in like I have every day and went out. I came back today and found that everything had turned back to the beginning apart from the tech points that I have got and brought all the puzzles I had completed had disappeared. I've had to start almost from scratch I was just wandering why this happened and how to fix it if I can. Also I've been trying to bulid the statue, but everytime I drop anyone on it just says s/he sees a fallen statue. I have the plans made up and master builders. What am I doing wrong?

The rubble to be cleared is located directly below the medical/hospital area.

To JIGuest:

The regular lectures don't do anything, but the chief can educate the children with lectures after you purchase level 2 Leadership.

If your beehive and 3 trees run out of food, your village is probably going to die before you can do anything about it. I recommend buying level 2 faction to get the special herb and drive away the sharks with the shark potion ASAP!!! My first village died, but in my second one I got the level 2 faction just in time and now have an unlimited supply of fish (at least, I now have 66565 food, and still growing!)

Does anyone know how to train villagers in building really quickly? I have level three restoration and leadership, but no master builders to complete puzzle 9. So FRUSTRATING!!! (:P)

You can train builders by repairing huts. It takes a long time and you have to stay on them about it, but it does work. :)

I need some other help. You know how some people say that when you pick up a blue starfish, the person becomes a master at the skill? I'm a bit confused about that. Which skill? Children or Adults? Why haven't I found one yet after about 100 Isola years?

Reply

To Virtually Addicted:

There are two kinds of lectures: regular village lectures and the children's education lectures. Everyone is referring to the regular lectures as not doing anything. When the chief lectures the children alone, however, they each have a white sparkle on their heads when they learn some skill. :)

weird.. I thought somebody mentioned it on this chat board a while back... maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

My builders have just started pushing the statues. I've got 7 masters on the job. Still... 17 whole hours just to push a statue?!?

By the way, if your tribe can run for, like, forever, can you have over 2000 villagers (that would be really funny; ever inch would be covered by villagers :P)

Reply
Virtually Addicted May 17, 2009 2:09 PM

In other words, is there a max population once all of the huts are built?

Also, a tip for those of you going for the jack of all trades award:

1) Choose a guy; he's easier to get the master parent with
2) Use the potion orchid + rose + lotus to make villagers sick so your chosen guy child can start healing them at like ages 2 to 13 and become a master of healing
2) Start at age 14 working them in the other categories; I suggest having him build first if you have any available projects or having him research. If you don't have the ocean yet as a food resource, then farming is also an option to start whenever the trees are full
3) At age 18, immediately start working on the parenting skill; remember, you don't actually have to wait for the guy to go indoors. Instead, just keep dropping him. Mine went from an adept parent to a master in about 30 minutes (yes it still is a lot of work)
4) If you have the ocean as a food source, definitely save farming for last; he can farm until he's 70 if necessary.
5) Once you've mastered 3 skills, the title of your villager will become "Esteemed Elder" instead of "Master _________" You will then have to check his detail to make sure he is improving on the skill you want him to.
6) Don't forget to change your villager's preference to whatever skill you have him improving on

One last question:

I'm having a little bit of tech point trouble. I can't decide what to purchase next. All I have left to purchase are level 3 nature faction, level 3 alchemy, or level 3 science... which should I do first?

Reply

To Virtually Addicted:

Max population -

The maximum population starts at 90 and can go as high as 115 if you have Science Faction and complete all four sets of collectibles.

Moving the statue -

Yes, it takes many builders many hours to move the statue. I usually put 12 or 15 on it. They don't have to be Master Builders, they just need to be trained. That just means that need to be at least Trainees to work on the statue. Also, be aware that there was a bug in earlier versions of the game that made the statue get stuck halfway up the path. If that happens, you just need to go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download the game again to get the most current version.

The chief -

If the chief dies, you just need to drop your new chief on the statue to start directing work again. It should be fine.

Tech points -

You're far enough along in the game that it doesn't really matter which of those last three you buy first. I usually purchase science last. If you like to mix a lot of potions, do Alchemy. If not, then Nature Faction would be good because it increases their longevity.

One last question about the end of the game:

WARNING! MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

what is the deal with the mural inside the sundial room? IS there anything behind it or something like that?

By the way, for some reason my statue was built ahead of time. I'm not complaining, believe me, but no more trained builders worked on it and it was supposed to be finished in 4 more hours... weird... well, at least I got a "lucky" glitch, if it is one ;)

Reply
Virtually Addicted May 17, 2009 11:29 PM

one MORE question...

My "jack of all trades guy" is one notch away in building from being a true jack of all trades. Besides fixing huts, is there anything else that could help me get him trained??

(I wanted to put a screenshot of him on here, but I don't know how O_o)

Once you're inside the sundial room -

The last puzzle is to talk to the spirits that appear. There is nothing else behind the wall and no other reason to be in the room after seeing the spirits.

There is one other thing that may help you train builders.

Notice I said MAY help them. There's a potion you can make that gives them a burst of energy and they start doing lots of exercises. At the end of the exercise, they will SOMETIMES an increase in building skill, too. It's not 100% effective, but it does happen from time to time. The potion is:

Cacus+Tiger Lily+Black Orchid

Uh. Question, I don't know if this is a glitch, bug, or a major oopsie. So, I just recently finished the last hut thing, the one that looked like a square of rocks before, and so I had a lot of trained builders. I fished out a master builder from the crowd and dropped her on the chalkboard, which was now blank after repairing the bath. And.... I had level 3 restoration but level 2 leadership, and I THINK, I can't really tell, but I THINK she drew a plan of a bath. And no, restarting the game doesn't help. Recap: I already FINISHED the bath, and putting people on the statue doesn't work.

Reply

To That One Girl:

You've found one of the bugs in the game. The new drawing on your chalkboard is supposed to be of the statue, but it's both the statue and bath together, which looks like a scrambled mess, right? It will still work for repairing the statue, though. There are a couple of steps you need to follow before dropping builders on it -

  1. A master builder has to build the scaffolding. Fly a master builder over the path above the fallen statue and you'll see a spot the looks good for the scaffolding.

  2. Next, you have to drop the chief onto the statue to begin directing work. After that you start dropping as many trained builders as you can get. They don't have to be master builders; even a trainee builder will work.

I seem to have found a glitch... I went on to the game today... an found that my adept parent was nursing for 0 minutes. I just got the milestone for 15 people and I am wondering if my village is full until I get another house?

Ok, I left my game until after school, my jack of all trades-to-be was dead, so I'm starting from scratch. I was going to use my youngest male to start training him in medicine, but he's part of a triplet set that all walk really slow. Why do some kids only walk at an elder's pace? I've had it happen before, and it follow them throughout their life. What should I do?

Reply

To That One Girl:

You'll have to wait until you have level 3 Leadership to start the statue and see if the plans on the board will work.

To JIGuest:

It may be a glitch, but it's common for the timer to be at 0 minutes for nursing mothers and sit there for several minutes. It should reset itself.

To Virtually Addicted:

Check on their details screen. If it says they dislike running or something similar, that's the reason they're slow. There's nothing to be done about it, either.

Anyways I was watching one of my elders bury the dead, and all of a sudden she disappeared..

Creepy...

I also have no children, and only 2 girls under the age of 50...

You had a tragedy for sure! Those kinds of things don't happen often, but they do happen.

  • The cemetary only holds 50, but the Roster of the Dead will go almost indefinitely.

  • The Jack of All Trades can be a female. Just don't let her have any babies and wait until after she's 50 before she goes indoors.

  • Except you'll need all females to reproduce like rabbits once they are adults. xD

Reply
Virtually Addicted May 21, 2009 5:59 PM

that's why I prefer to use a male... which, in growing into a master parent, will help my villagers reproduce like rabbits O_o
I've finally got a male child. His name is Molo, and he is already almost an adept doctor and has learned a little bit of building from my chief's lecture.

By the way,

What does the clothing hut do exactly? I'm not going to work on it until my "jack of all trades to be" is old enough to. But I want to know exactly what he will be working on. Also, is there anything else you can use the tech points you earn once you purchase everything in the tech area? I have almost 2 million tech points and I don't know what to do with them!

By the way, I have a question. O_o :P

I was wondering what exactly is the point of the awards page. What is the award you get when you complete a reward or is the reward the reward within itself (sorry about the bad sentence structure) I've already completed all rewards except 3 (jack of all trades, fungus among us, and alchemy r us)

Reply

To Virtually Addicted:

The sewing hut -

Once the sewing hut is complete, you can drop a villager on it and he/she can get a new set of clothes for 5,000 tech points. You get to choose from a fairly wide variety of clothes for both males and females. It's fun, plus you can give them uniforms to make it easier to keep up with a large village. For example, I would put all of my doctors in black and white. My builders would wear blue. Farmers would wear green. Etc.

If you've purchased absolutely all of your technology, the tech points don't have much use except to buy new clothes. See spoiler above.

The awards page is just something to do. The reward is the satisfaction of completing the award. You don't get anything special for it.

And... you're welcome! I'm very happy to answer questions, and you always have good ones. :)

Well, my chief was the person in the event and now I have two cheifs. How is that possible? I can create food twice and lecture twice. Is this just a lucky glitch for me?

Ok, not sure here.

To Cash:

About the statue -

If you're certain you have the most current version, it's probably a case of not getting your chief to the right spot. And remember, the chief has to be directing work before you can put any builders onto the statue. Fly your chief over the path up to the door and look for a spot that says something about being a good place to direct work. If it doesn't show up directly above the statue, try at the base where it started.

To Tracy:

What you describe is not a bug. It's one of the random island events that happen, well, randomly. You just got lucky that it randomly cloned your chief. :D

To the left of the alchemy lab where the kids go when "nature is calling". If you are playing the magic faction it is a berry, if you are playing nature it looks like a pitcher plant.

I made the builder fix the pearl but he died before he could finish, so now I have no way that I know to train builders and I have no builders to use... Is there any way to make them get building skill?

Reply

Chubysnow -

The pearl:

Needs to be finished by two people, a master builder and a master scientist. If your master builder did his part, drop a master scientist on it and see if he will finish it. If not, the only way to train a builder if all building projects are finished is to have them fix the huts over and over again. This can take some time, but eventually they will get there.

Hope this helps.

This the only award that I have not completed in all of my 5 tribes so I'm kind of desperate because I want to finish the game completely, but I don't know what is happening. In the rock with the names it shows 3 or 4 dead people over 80, but in the awards doesn't. What can I do??
