Thanks for the help on clearing the leaves. It seems I missed the spot but did find it. Now I am trying the light and springy to get the gem but do not know where to place the villager. I thought I read something about it but can't find it now. Also do you need a certain tech level to get the gem.
If it wasn't for you site and help I would never be able to figue all this out. Thank you very much.
Oh I can't seem to use my sign in name should I try to make a new one.
About the pink gem -
You don't need a particular level of technology to get the gem; however, the potion could possibly blow up without Alchemy technology. You just have to try it and see. I would suggest that a Master Scientist make the attempt.
Once your villager has taken the potion and is "light and springy", drop him/her on the ground below the pink gem and slightly to the right of the rose bush. He/she will stand a moment, then jump and get the gem.
As for making a new account, it's up to you. Without an account, your comments automatically go to moderation and there could be a delay before they show up here on the site.
I just got the statue completed and went to complete Puzzle #15 with the odd shaped item to get the clam pearl. But when my Master Builder took the odd shaped item I grabbed him with my mouse by accident so now he dropped it and it's gone. How screwed am I? Do I have to completely restart or is there a chance for me to complete #15?
Look on the ground near the research table. If the puzzle gets interrupted, that's where the blue stone ends up. You may need to exit the game and go back in to reset it, but it should still be in play.
hey im trying to complete puzzle #12. but how on earth can one of my villagers become a master doctor if no one is getting sick?? this one really has me stuck....please help!!
About training doctors -
Once you purchase level 2 Medicine, you can train villagers to be doctors by dropping them at the table in the hospital area. You'll recognize it by the cots that are in the area. It works much like scientists on the research table. You can easily have many Master Doctors. :)
I love Virtual Villagers 3, but I'm done clearing the rubble and I only retrieved 3 tablet pieces. Is there any other way to get them?
To Mistress Dupuis:
The tablet pieces will continue to show up in that same area after you've cleared the rubble. Just check there like you check the beach and other places when looking for collectibles.
Okay.. Thank you so much Pam :-P
Does anyone know why I dont always get tech points for my objects? I've added like 10 items, 3 of them rare and I havent got any points. I'm not using 2 children or anything.
The statue already started, a few inches more to settle, but whenever I drag my Tribal chief, they don't direct the work..why? can anybody help me?
You only get tech points for duplicate items that you've already added to the collection.
Please check the FAQ at the top of this page.
Hi everyone! Newbie here. How come some kids are labeled "apprentice"? How do you train kids to become an apprentice? Thank you so much!
Hi twish and welcome!
A child becomes an apprentice when he/she gains job experience before turning 14. This can happen several ways:
They inherit it at birth from their parents.
They learn from the lessons given by the Chief.
Apprentice Doctors happen if a child heals sick people.
Thank you, Pam!
I have one more question please. :)
How often can the chief lecture the kids? Thank you!
All of the special things that Chiefs can do are every 24 hours. If you try to do it too early, it will just tell you that it's only every 24 hours.
Note: You have to purchase the Leadership technology to get the lecturing children and the help with rare collectibles.
I don't know if anyone else had this problem but I could not study medicine until I bought the first tech in medicine, and I was on Easy mode. I saw earlier the suggestion to train docs in the building with the hay beds/bowls but when I tried dropping villagers there, they just got confused and walked away.
P.S. Loving the walkthru! I'd still be stuck on the lift without it.
It's correct that you can only train doctors after purchasing level 2 Medicine. I believe it's part of the description on the technology page when you click on the question mark of the Medicine section.
What would happen if I download the game to IE6?
I'm not sure what you mean.
Jay said at the top of the page that he doesn't support playing VV3 with IE3. He said to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade.
Are you playing this with Internet Explorer 6?
I keep clicking on spoilers and nothing happens. I am out of building structures, have cleared the rubble, repaired the bath, uncovered the Roster of the dead and my Master Builders are dying out. How can I make a master builder so I have them to help w/ the rebuilding of the statute, etc.?
Were you able to get spoilers to work so you can see how to train builders?
I have been playing this game a while and am still loving it. I have managed to get all the collectibles in one game which gives me a max population of 125 (magic faction). It's pretty funny to see all of them running around.
I'm now conducting eugenics experiments with my village. I have a valley of the brunettes, a valley of redheads, and a valley of blondes. :-)
But my question is this: I have noticed by going into the pics file and checking the picture of the collectibles that there is a third mushroom, other than the gray cap and red cap mushroom. Has anyone seen this mushroom in the game? What does it do?
I've never seen a third mushroom. What color is it?
Can someone please tell me where these leaves to clear are? I have dropped them everywhere and they just walk off. Please anyone. I know I must not be setting it in right spot. Thanks for your help.
The leaves are below and to the right of where the children play in the dirt. Here's a screenshot to help you.
I've only seen it in the collectibles file, never in the game proper. It's lighter than the brown one, and looks like two mushrooms, not one. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen it pop up in the game itself.
Here is a tip to get the most out of found objects and mushrooms:
You can place up to three children on an object or mushroom to double or triple the points (tech or food) that you get from that object. You have to be fast, and place the children near the object to line them up before putting them on the object. The little boogers move fast, so you gotta be fast. I usually can only get double, rarely trpple.
Here is a tip how to get the dead buried faster - no waiting for the villager to carry the bones all the way to the graveyard or to get the alchemy pot emptied faster
As soon as the villager is carrying the bones or the bowl to dump from the alchemy pot, pick the villager up and they will drop the bones or bowl and the job is done. You can go to the graveyard and see the new headstone, and the alchemy pot stays empty.
Grr! Despite it all, the only trouble I'm having is with the birth rate of my villagers.
So I've been playing for 10 minutes and more, but the counter still only says from the original 87 minutes to 84 minutes. Does this ever happen to anyone else? Please help!
We have two VV3 threads. Your other comments and my answers are on the other thread. Just FYI.
As I said in my last response to you... have you tried starting a second village to see if you have the same problem on the timing of the nursing mothers?
The only other suggestion I can give is to try reinstalling the game from the site where you originally purchased it.
If you continue to have problems, you'll have to contact the game designer's customer service department.
Ah! I'm so sorry Pam. @_@; Thank you for helping me. I tried making a new city but yeah it has the same problem. So I guess I have to deal with it.
I have another question. None of my children have any skills. How are skills inherited from parent to children? I'm just wondering about the Child Prodigy Award. I know eventually I can teach the children with my chief, but can I still do that when my chief is a child still?
Thank you very much.
If your chief is a child, he/she won't be able to teach the other children until adulthood. Probably age 14.
Children may be born with inherited skills, but it will come as the game progresses. The best thing is to keep an eye on the children and see who ends up with some skill, then make sure they work at that skill when they turn 14. Most of the time, I get a Child Prodigy without even realizing it because they do it on their own.
What do you mean Pam? How do the children do it themselves? o.O
Oh, and another question (sorry X_X); I remember reading somewhere that your chiefs can help the children find collectibles and mushrooms. How do they do that? o.O
About the children -
When I say the children will do it themselves, many times when a child gains experience, they will start working at that job on their own (without you directing them or clicking a preference) when they turn 14.
About the Chief and collectibles -
This is something the Chief can do after you purchase level 3 Leadership. Like making magic food and teaching children, the Chief can only do it every 24 hours.
How do chiefs lecture children? Do you just drop the chief in the middle of the amphitheater? When I did that none of the children learned anything.
To make the chief lecture children -
First, you need level 2 Leadership. Drop the chief on a child and they will all go to the amphitheater. When you see the white sparkle on each child's head, they have gained a unit of experience.
been playing 4 days and i have'nt managed to get the spear lab not complete
The knife (stick) for the Alchemy Lab shows up in a different place for every game, so I can't tell you where it is. However, here's a screenshot of it so you can see what it looks like.
I have been playing the game for over a week now. I have completed most of the puzzles, but I can't figure out what puzzle 7 is or how to complete it. Please help.
The walkthrough at the top of this page has hints for all puzzles. Check there for help with puzzle 7. If you still have trouble, let me know and I'll try to help.
For puzzle 8 you dont need a level 2 restoration, just a master builder is enough!
O, and the alchemy lab of course..
Ok, I have been all through the forum looking to the answer to this question (yes, all 17 or 19 pages worth lol) When the potion is made, does it HAVE to be drank in order to count for the puzzle?
Help I read somewhere how to make triplets and now I cant remember!
How do I make my population bigger? I'm stuck at 35, but now I have NO children!!! Help!
About potions -
A potion by itself isn't a puzzle. However, there are two puzzles that require drinking a potion to be solved. The potion causes an ability or a particular result. You can't get either by just letting it sit in the cauldron. You have to drop a villager onto the cauldron.
Is there a particular potion you're questioning?
About triplets -
There's nothing in particular you can do to create triplets. They come later in the game after Medicine technology is at max and when other puzzles help with health. Twins and triplets are random, but they will come eventually if you have a healthy and successful tribe.
You're at a place where your population is maxed because of housing. It's time to build the last hut. It requires level 2 or level 3 Restoration.
Thanks Pam, that actually answered my question. And I was mistaken on the puzzle aspect, it was for the 50 potions for the awards.
to throw this one out there...I read the tip about the chimes when items for kids to find (ie. mushrooms, and collectable things) are ready to be found. As soon as I read it I turned off my music in the game, and if I am in game and hear the chimes go off, I pause and go searching. I've found 5 or 6 new items that I probably would have missed otherwise. Thanks!!!
You're quite welcome!
Right, got a few other little tips that I didn't see in the forum.
We all know that if the chief is a woman and she has a child her nursing time is cut in half. This is also true of any esteemed elders who happen to be women and under 50 years old. Discovered that one by accident.
If you have a villager that likes to run, they will pick up on all skills rather quickly. The aboved mentioned esteemed elder was a woman who liked to run and became an esteemed elder before she turned 30!
As a side note-after reading the FAQ'a on where to find the stick thing needed to restore the lab I had to restart my tribe. After re-starting I would look around carefully before setting my villagers to tasks to see if it was somewhere I could see it. If not, I restarted tribe again. Only took me 2 times of this to get it right out in the open for me.
Has anyone else noticed that when you're close to completing a task, (ie. rebuilding the bath, uncovering the death notice board thingy) items appear more frequently for the kids to pick up?
[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]
My female chiefs have always had the same time as nursing mothers as all the others. At least I think so. Now I'll have to check. And the Esteemed Elders, too. :)
Update: My female chief has 120 minutes for nursing, just like any other female.
This game is great!
I still remember when I finished playing VV2. I waited for 2 months for the VV3 to be released. I went to the official web and waited for the percentage to get 100%..hahah!
I'm so addicted!
I love the challenges in VV3, but i do miss all the totems in VV2 as they look so nice and it's like something to show the appreciation to the elders.
And I'm still a bit disappointed that it is so hard to improve the skills of parenting as I'm trying to get the "Jack of all trades" award and it is always a problem.
I hope maybe that in VV4 (if there is one :D) that it will be improved such as that the parents can educate the children and increase their skill in parenting.
Here's a tip to get your females pregnant faster:
Grab the male or female villager and do it as usual. But instead of waiting for them to go indoors, you keep dragging them towards each other until she gets pregnant.
But if after 10 tries, you still don't get it, it means it won't work.
You can still gain parenting skill by dropping an adult on a child to tell a story.
LOL @ what happened on my game.
I've put it all in a spoiler to shorten the whole post.
when I logged on to VV today, I realised I had left the game unpaused.
It turns out that I lost my greatest parent (old age), a 6 year old (starvation), and my chief (old age).
And yet, I had 3 more villagers than when I logged off.
But when I was testing for a new chief, a 6 year old with the same name as the previous chief got chosen!
I'm putting the next bit in a spoiler, because you might not want to know what it's like having a 6 year old chief:
They still do the same as a child, but with the special rights of a chief.
The only problem is that they can't do the stuff I normally make my chief do:
I normally make him (I've only had male chiefs) do the alchemy and sort out the firewood.
So all in all, it was real funny.
I just need level 3 leadership now, to get my 6 year old chief to be able to organise the statue rebuild.
NB: my spoilers weren't showing up on the preview, so I do apologise if they don't work.
my villagers go indoors alot, but they don't get any babies,i tried the romantic potion and the fertile potion, they go indoors but then no babies, what shall i do?(i have 2 huts, the one infront of the waterfall and the one i repaired)
and at what age does the male start making babaies or going indoors?
and another question plz, now i have level 2 leadership,i have a chief,i have level 2 restoration and level 2 alchemy and i have level 1 faction, i have 5000 tech points, what should i do next or what should i buy? or what puzzle can i solve now?
i repaired the bath,the lift,the hut , the alchemy lab , and i planted the 3 trees
so what next?i need an advise :) plz
What is the purpose of the cave?
Great Walkthrough and so useful! Thanks! One thing, I have 1 male chief left, and no one else. Any ideas? Help!
By the way, do the red birds mean anything?
Check question #7 in the FAQ at the top of the page about having babies. If you don't have enough housing for more population, it will say so at the bottom of the screen when you try to have a baby. Villagers can have babies starting at age 18, for both male and female.
As for what to do next, I strongly suggest that you work toward unlimited food, which means you have to get rid of the sharks. You'll need the sixth herb for that, so you'll need level 2 Faction. I would advise that you make that your next purchase.
If you mean the secret room/cave behind the door at the top of the path, it's where the final puzzle is solved with the spirits. Other than that, it doesn't do anything.
thank you :)
If you are down to only one villager, the only thing you can do is hope for someone new to arrive at the village or for a barrel of babies to show up. These are both random island events that you can't control.
The red birds don't mean anything. They're just pretty. :)
Now I have 17 villagers and he says there is not enough housing to support more. Are there any more houses that I can build or repair?
(I don't want to spend tech points because am waiting to have enough to buy level 2 faction to get rid of the sharks to have enough food for all these villagers). But I mean after doing this, will I have any houses to build to get more population?
About building huts -
You will be able to build/repair two more huts. One of them is already there, close to the one you've completed. The third one will show up later after you buy level 3 Restoration. The second hut will let your population get to 35, and the last hut will let it max at 90+.
Love the game!! Just have a quick question. I'm playing the Nature faction. I have Level 2 Alchemy. I've only made the shark potion since buying it. I just tried to make another potion, and it blew up!! I tried to make the healthier potion, and it blew up as well! Any suggestions?
To Mystic Light:
Potions have the potential to blow up at any time. It becomes less likely as you buy the levels of Alchemy. By the time you buy level 3 Alchemy, they should rarely blow up.
In the meantime, try using a Master Scientist to mix the potion. And just because it blew up one time, doesn't mean it will blow up next time. However, have a different villager mix the potion because it causes considerable damage when it blows up. If a villager mixes two in a row that blow up, the result could be death.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks, pineapple. But that's what I did. Still blew up. I even evacuated all other scientists just in case. I'm afraid to try it again!
Hope its okay if I make 2 posts in a row, but don't see a way to edit my post. *blush* Do the weakened scientists recover over time, cause I cant get the doctor to heal them...Also, does it mean anything of significance when it says Tribal Chief is Proud of Tribe?
i am really enjoying this game,it's great :)
i have a quick question too, the villagers rarely get sick,or go to that place (i don't know what is it's name) the place above the pile of rubble where they go when they r sick,so how will they gain any healing skill if no1 gets sick?and can't i make a villager heal another except if 1 one of them went to that place,or had a status of not feeling well ?
I'm not pineapple. I'm Pam. :)
For the potions -
Some potions are prone to blowing up more than others, but it will get a lot better after you purchase level 3 Alchemy. Even though they seem to blow up a lot, it can still be successful sometimes. Just take your chances and be careful.
You can post as many times as you need to. It's not a problem unless you're spamming, which you are not. No worries for what you're posting.
About weakened villagers -
The doctors can only heal a villager who is "Sick", which is different from "Weakened". If the village is thriving and doing well, the weak villager will often become stronger on his/her own. If things are bad, he/she will get weaker and possibly die. There are potions to help them get stronger, which of course carry the same risk of blowing up. The easiest potion also has the smallest improvement in health: Cactus+Cactus+Cactus. A little more difficult, but more increase in health: Cactus+Cactus+Lotus Flower.
Lastly, a Chief who is proud of the tribe generally means that the tribe is doing well and thriving.
i have got rid of the sharks and they are now fishing , and i repaired one hut and working on the other, also repaired the bath and the lift, and i have a chief
i am just wondering what should be my next step? any help ! :)
and also the fire went out (on it's own ) twice and still no keys or diamonds appeared and everytime after it goes out i have the villagers to start it again but still nothing appears , is there any hope and does it take much time ?
last question,my villagers arenot gaining healing skills,as no one gets sick except rarely can i do anything about this ??
I NEED HELP!! I left my villagers unattended, and how I have my youngest female at age 58! I have tried and tried to get her pregant, but it hasnt worked! I even tried with the older women, but still nothing! What do I do? All of my people are going to die if I can't figure out how to get more babies!
Now that you have unlimited food, the decision of what to do next is really up to you. There's not one way that's better than another. As for the Ash Key -
Let the fire burn until you see white sparkles in it. Once you see them, it's time to let it burn out and retrieve the gem.
To train doctors -
Once you purchase level 2 Medicine, you can train doctors at the hospital, very much like scientists train at the research table.
Females stop having babies at age 50. Your only chance is if someone new wanders into your village or if a barrel of babies arrives. Both are random island events. You can't control them.
Bleh... Island Events... I only get the bad ones. Thanks for this walkthrough! It really helped me out when my villagers were on the brink of death.
ive now gotten 3 awards; master child, cured diseases and mushroom retrieve.
you could try the way i do it..
just keep putting a male and female towards each other at least 10x
GOOD LUCK~ ! :D
Hi it's me rose again. :)
I want to know if that aromatherpay puzzle is an important thing? Or shall I focus on something else?
Because now am almost doing nothng. They are fishing, studying medicine and reseraching, making some babies. That's all, so I want to start solving another puzzle and I have about 45000 points and I don't know if I should buy level 3 medicine and do the aromatherapy thing? O wait and buy something else?
About the aromatherapy puzzle -
It's not an important puzzle. It will give your villagers better health overall, but that's about it. Plus the satisfaction of solving the puzzle.
Hi I've been a fan of JIG for over a year but have never had an occasion to post . . . until now. I have completed all the puzzles, now what happens? I didn't get a message or anything telling me I finished the game but could keep taking care of my villagers indefinitely (which is what I was expecting). Is this normal?
You don't get any kind of message that the game is over or that you can continue tending your village. It just keeps running after the puzzles are completed. It's an ongoing story without a real ending so far.
Okay, I need help! I have plenty of food and all my technologies are bought and I only have three puzzles left. I want to know if there is any way I can train more builders after all my stuff is built? I have tried a potion
cactus, black orchid, lotus
that I think said sometimes raises building but, it just makes my people run around with rocks excercising, not very helpful. I have already done all the huts, and the bath. I only have three builders!!! Thank you so much for your site guys!
I just reached the end of this game I think if was the end anyhow, and I was kinda disappointed. Is there anything that needs to be done after the sundial room?
Check question #8 in the FAQ at the top of the page.
If you have completed all the puzzles, you can still finish the collections and awards. Other than that, the game just runs indefinitely unless something bad happens to your tribe.
I have already repaired the bath, but then I discovered that they can do something called "clearing rubble" when I put them on the rubble that was once used to repair the bath.
Is this useful? Should I keep them clearing the rubble or should I forget about this and make them concentrate on something else?
Waiting. :) And thanks .
About clearing the rubble -
Clearing the rubble is one of the puzzles. It's not connected to any or the others, so it's not overly important. It's a chance to train builders, though, and new collection items appear there. Also, I have found that once builders start on a project, they will keep going back to it even if you put them onto something else. Best to have them work on one project at a time.
having a hard time finding the spear...can anyone point me in the right direction?
Check my post about halfway up the page dated October 6, 2008 at 10:14 p.m. There's a screenshot that may help you find the alchemy stick/knift/spear thing.
Can someone please let me know how to make the villagers sick?
i read it on someone's post i couldnt find anywhere now~!!
i only have like 20% left to get a jack of all trades..
and she's 63
Why do you want to make a villager sick?
it does sound mean doesnt it..
if i get my villagers sick, then i'll able to grab "Puca"- my elderly that only needs another 20% of healing skill to get a master and she'll be able to get the jack of all trades award..
If you have purchased level 2 Medicine, you can have your villager study medicine at the hospital. It's just like scientists doing research at the table. Doctors go pretty fast once you get them studying at the table in the hospital.
Pam, i am having her studying on the table..
but u know, elderly work slowly..
and she's already 64 now..
I found a green feather hanging on the wall at the lab. Does anyone know how to get this collectible? I tried a few potions, like jumping but it doesn't work. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Just make sure she stays working and doesn't wander off. It's the best way to get her trained as a doctor. You can check the list of potions at the top of this page and see if any of them make villagers sick.
