I'm new to Jay is Games and it looks like a nice site. Anyway, I have a problem

i have 2 elders and i heard it was bad for them to work, but I can't make them stop

also

i want a list of potions that can increase my villagers' skills. Thanks.

I need food, but my tree's fruit is gone and my beehive is empty. I can't get the chief to do his weird magic thing either. And furthermore, my mushroom picker just turned 14. I have a baby that will be ready later, but my village is pretty starved. So this lead me to try the shark potion, but I don't have 50,000 tech points for faction 2. I also can't get more tech points because I don't have any children to get collectibles. Is there another way to get some food and or tech points?

Hi Tipmon and welcome!

About potions -

Potions don't really increase a villager's skill as a rule. The only one I can think of that does is the energy potion that will sometimes give a unit of building skill, but not always. Potions generally affect health and produce a special ability for a short time. The energy potion is Black Orchid + Tiger Lily + Cactus. The rest of the important potions can be found at the beginning of this page.

About elderly villagers -

It's not necessarily *bad* to let elderly villagers work. You are probably referring to some advice given to someone who was looking for tips on how to achieve the Ancient Elder award. Sometimes taking a villager off task will help them to live longer, but it's certainly not bad to let them continue working, especially if you need their skill or if your tribe is small. However, if you do want to take a villager off task, uncheck the box on their details screen. Either leave it unchecked or check a trade which has little or no experience. This will help prevent the villager from working.

Good luck and come on back if you get stuck with anything. :)

About food -

You can plant up to three trees in the orchard. It sounds like maybe you only have one. You'll need to repair the lift to get seeds to plant the other two trees. The fruit on your tree will regenerate eventually. You'll just have to hope that the baby gets old enough to pick mushrooms and gather collectibles before things get too bad. There's not much else you can do at this point.

To make magic food, drop your chief on the food bin. He/she can do this every 24 hours. If it's too early, try again later.

How do I get more than one tree to harvest? I have level 1 faction and level 2 alchemy. I am down to less than 200 food for 12 villagers! I have completely harvested the honey and the only tree I have. Thanks!

Reply

To Robin:

About more trees -

You need to repair the lift in order to plant more trees.

  1. You will have to purchase level 2 Restoration.

  2. After you have the Restoration purchased, it will take three Adept Builders to repair the lift.

  3. Once the lift is repaired, wait for it to start raining, then have a villager stand on the lift. You have to do this immediately when it starts raining or the lift will rise up without the villager.

  4. When the villager is lifted up to the trees, a fruit/seed will drop to the ground. Pick it up and a new tree will be planted.

  5. You can plant two trees this way, for a total of three trees in your orchard.

To get food in the meantime -

  1. Have your Chief make magic food every 24 hours by dropping him/her onto the food bin.

  2. Have the children collect mushrooms for extra food points (6 or 7 points for regular mushrooms and 35 points for red mushrooms).

  3. You can use a little trick to double your mushroom points. When you see a mushroom, put the game on pause by tapping the space bar. Drop a child on the mushroom, then unpause and pause again by tapping the space bar twice very rapidly. Drop a second child on the mushroom. If you're quick enough, both children will pick the mushroom for double the food points.

About unlimited food -

I suggest that you make obtaining unlimited food a high priority when deciding which technology to purchase. You need level 2 Faction to be able to make the potion to get rid of the sharks.

Good luck and come back if you need more help. :)

Hi ya Pam! Been playing diligently... Have all huts, 29 villagers, all kinda ok there. I am to the "don't have anything to build" stage. I have read it all over on here, and seen your comments. I have folks "fixing" huts all the time, to build tiny bits of building skill. My chief is 63, and I'm afraid he won't last much longer.

Thanks to these boards I know what to do about Chief. I "think" fixing huts is the only way to improve building skill, is that correct?

I have about 110,000 in tech pts.. and am just waiting to buy restoration 3... right? I have level 2 of all others. Rest 3 will let me do the statue right?? And something else comes with rest 3....??

Thanks SO very much for your help... it is slow going now, but I don't think there is anything I can do to speed it up.

It would have been cool if the "awards" came with say a.... 50,000 tech bonus??? I know, I'm dreaming!

Reply

Hi Dinky!

About building skill -

About the only other thing besides fixing huts is to try the energy potion. It will sometimes add a unit of building skill, but not always. The potion is Black Orchid + Tiger Lily + Cactus.

About the statue -

You will need level 3 Leadership as well as Level 3 Restoration.

Unfortunately, the awards are in name only.

Good luck!

Was anyone aware that if you take a scientist, whether beginner or master, and hold him/her to the caldron (if there isn't a potion brewing), they will say something like, "No, we need three herbs!" (I'm paraphrasing, lol.) ...But you still rack up tech points when they refuse! SWEEET! LOL. What an easy way to gain tech points, eh?? I think you can do that twice per scientist! Hope this helps someone else.

Reply

Hi again! Checkin in... I have 3 restoration and leadership, 30 villagers. Lots of young ones though. Missing 1 shell and 2 rare feathers. I've read and read, but I can't find out how to initiate the statue puzzle. My master builder "did" build a scaffold on the top of it. I put the chief there, and said "a good spot to anchor".... now what? Oh yeah, and I have the plans on the chalkboard.

I can't get the builders to work or the chief to stay. confused.... What am I missing??

Reply

Hi Dinky.

About the statue -

Once you have level 3 in both Restoration and Leadership, make sure you have the statue drawings done and the scaffolding built. After you have all this ready, you need to drop your chief onto the statue at the bottom near the edge of the amphitheater. It should say "Directing Work". Then start dropping Builders in the same place. The other builders will come to the statue on their own after that point.

Hi again, all,
I have a question regarding the order in which i should buy the technologies. I am currently on Level II in everything except Alchemy, of which i have Level III. Is there a correct order...such as go from cheaper to more expensive, or do i need to go in a different order? I still (obviously) don't have my third hut built, nor do i have anyone on the statue. (I know, that was a given, lol.) Just trying to figure out what would be best here...thanks for any help on this! :)
(By the way, i have almost all my ppl on Science Tech at the moment, except for a select few to get food & such, to help get more tech points accrued. I hope that's a good thing to do!)

Is the ridiculously large clam on the reef anything of importance?

Reply

To kimmi:

About technology levels -

The first priority should be to have unlimited food, which you probably have if you're at level 2 Faction. The technologies tend to go hand in hand. For example, you need level 3 in both Restoration and Leadership to do the statue. The rest are just personal preference. I usually end up solving the aromatherapy puzzle last because I wait to buy level 3 Medicine.

I hope this is helpful. :)

The large pearl in the clam is one of the puzzles to solve. Other than that, the clam isn't relevant to the rest of the game.

Hello,
I need some help.
It has rained non-stop for 5 years of time in the game. This is creating a problem with food

I have built the lift. The bucket is full of water. I can not get to the seeds because the lift is up. I still have some food but I need to get seeds. Any suggestions on getting in the lift while it is raining?
Or on causing the rain to stop?

Thanks

Reply

To Robert:

That's the second time today I've heard about that problem. And I never heard of it before now! Try exiting and re-entering the game a couple of times. That worked for the other person having this problem. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll try to do some checking. It sounds like some kind of bug.

In the meantime, gather as many mushrooms as you can and have the chief make magic food every 24 hours. Plus, here's a trick for the mushrooms -

Put the game on pause by tapping the space bar. Drop a child on the mushroom. Tap the space bar twice again very fast to unpause and re-pause the game. Drop a second child and unpause again. If you are quick enough, both children will pick up the mushroom for double the food points. This also works for collectibles to get double tech points on collectibles you already have.

Also, will you please check the bottom left corner of your Main Menu and let me know what version you have? Thanks.

Pam,

Thanks for all your help. I finally got the master builder to draw over the plans (had to keep trying about 15 times) lol, and now the statue is up and so on... My population is still at 90 and won't grow. I know it can get a little larger. I have all of my huts but not all of my collectables. I do have the third key. How do I increase the allowed population?

Reply

Hi Pam,
It is version 1.00 04, WT

One other question:
Can female chiefs have children?

Thanks

Reply

To Julie:

Yay for the statue!

About population -

If you have Nature Faction, your tribe won't be able to get as large. Nature is where the max starts at 90. You can get an additional 5 people added to your max population for each set of collectibles that you complete. So, if you have Magic Faction and complete all collections, I would say that the max population could get to probably 115. Maybe 120. I'm not sure how much Magic Faction adds to the population. I haven't heard or seen anything higher than that. Oh... and if you are only one villager below the max and happen to have triplets, it will go a little beyond the max, but only for that one time.

Reply

To Robert:

I'm checking with the site owner to see if there is a known bug about the rain. Did the exiting help?

About the chief

Yes, a female chief can have babies like any other female. However, while she is nursing she cannot do any of her chief things. No magic food, no teaching children, etc. She only takes care of the baby like the others.

You're talking about the puzzles screen, right?

The cloud and lightning bolt represents the Weather Dance. Drop your chief on the fire and then drop several farmers on the fire, too. They will start doing a weather dance. When you see white sparkles at their feet, it has been successful. You should get the puzzle solved and it will begin to rain.

Reply

To Kimmi:

About the pearl -
I only give the minimum amount of information so that you can still solve it on your own, but if you need more help, no problem.

After you complete the statue, you will see a light blue rock at the base of the statue. A Master Builder picks it up, a Master Scientist polishes it, and the Chief carries it to the clam and switches the light blue one for the black one in the clam. That black pearl will be taken to the door as a key.

Reply

To Papagryphon:

About teaching children -

You just need to drop the chief on a child. They will run off to the amphitheater and the other children will join them there. It's a good idea to do the dropping actually in the amphitheater so that the chief doesn't have as far to walk and the kids don't beat him there. When you see a white sparkle on a child's head, that's when the child has gained experience from the teaching.

There was a problem with the statue that was fixed with version 1.00.04. Check your Main Menu at the bottom left corner to see which version you have. You need to put three adept builders on the lift to repair it.

To help with food -

Until you get lift repaired and the other two trees planted, have your children pick mushrooms. You can also use a little trick to double the food points with the mushrooms. Put the game on pause by tapping the space bar. Drop a child on the mushroom. Use the space bar to unpause and re-pause the game quickly. Drop a second child on the mushroom. If you're quick enough, both children will pick the mushroom and you'll get double the food points. This is very helpful when you're low on food, especially with the high point red mushrooms.

Also: Puzzle #8 help

You do NOT need Restoration Level 2 to rebuild the Bath. I only have Restoration Level 1 and a Master Builder with all the rest of my tribe being Adept Builders and they are working on rebuilding the bath now. So I just wanted to correct that.

Ok, so great job with the tips everyone! :)

You might want to mention in either the general play tips or the spoiler section for puzzle #9 (statue), that you need something else!

In addition to one Master builder, you must have adept builders!, so save that last hut to train your latest generation or you end up with no place to teach anyone to build...and you have four 60-year-olds left to do the work!

Reply

Hi Brettster!

We actually do mention trained builders in the hint-through shown above:

"Prerequisites: Level 3 Restoration, Level 3 Leadership, completed Puzzle #8, a Chief, lots of trained builders"

Also about training builders -

You can train builders by repairing existing huts if you've run out of things to build. There is also an energy potion that will sometimes increase building skill. The potion is Black Orchid + Tiger Lily + Cactus. I have found that Trainee Builders are sufficient to put on the statue once it gets started.

Can you help me? I have solved all the puzzles. I have achieved all the awards & I have reached the top of all the Tech levels. My villagers are industrious little souls & I have collected all the Shells, Keys, Coral & Tablet Pieces.
Once every 24hrs, my Tribal Chief makes magic food & points out a rare collectible but I need ONE UNCOMMON FEATHER to complete the collections. Is there any way to prompt the game to make a specific item appear? I come back to the game most nights & play for an hour or so but I just get repeats of the items that I already have. Unfortunately, there is no trick to get the feather you are missing. They are generated randomly and you just have to be at the right place at the right time.

I don't think your game will end when you finish the last collectible. It will keep going indefinitely unless something happens to make them die off.

My only two children died of starvation during the night (although everything looked fine when I left) and the chief (former child) is already 14. I can't pick anything and my villager won't have children. They kiss and go into the hut but no children. What's going on?

Reply

To Anonymush:

First of all, you may want to double check your Options screen and make sure you are playing on Easy since this is your first time.

About food -

You need to plant two more fruit trees. To do this, you need to repair the lift, which requires Level 2 Restoration and three Adept Builders. The first tree will eventually regenerate.

About having babies -

Your villagers will have babies, but you have to keep after them. You don't need to wait for them to go indoors. If it's going to happen, it will happen when you hear the kissing sound. Just keep dropping them onto each other over and over until you see the population counter go up or the female is carrying a baby.

About health potion -

Before you run completely out of food, make a health potion to boost your villagers. This one has less chance of blowing up: Cactus+Cactus+Cactus.

You're using pause and unpause, right? It won't work if you just pause and drop multiple children. That works in the first Virtual Villagers game, but not in this one. You have to pause, unpause, re-pause, unpause, etc.

If it doesn't work, it's probably just a timing issue. Or, you might be catching the collectible just as it's about to disappear and only the first one catches it. I don't think the amount of food or tech matters.

The only way I know how to get tech points is by using the tech table and alchemy lab. Is there any other way? Oh yeah, one of my potions exploded (no kidding.) Any way to help this? It was with an adept scientist too. Please help!

Want to know an easy way to get tech points?

Try getting items like mushrooms. Pause using space bar, get a kid on the item, press pause (space bar) twice very quickly, then put another kid on it and make sure when you do, it says, getting item for scientists or something like that. Then press pause one last time, and tada!! You have an item and tech points.

Will help really well with rare or uncommon items.

It looks like you've already figured out how to get extra tech points.

About the potion exploding -

This can happen any time, really. It becomes less frequent when you purchase levels 2 and 3 of Alchemy.

How do I know which villager is my cheif?

For those who need help with the food problem, you

have to fix the lift and then wait till it rains.

Once it rains, put a person on the lift and the bucket will start to fill with water, brining the person up. Don't take the person off the lift until you see a seed/food fall down from the tree. Make a villager plant this and then wait. While waiting, you can collect mushrooms, havest honey, and whatnot. You should also put it on "easy", because I think this makes the villagers eat less. Soon the tree will grow and you will have food, and you can do this two more times until you can't plant any more trees.

To find your chief -

In the amphitheater, you will see a yellow and red robe hanging. Drop each of your villagers onto the robe and they will try it on until it fits one of them. That villager is your chief.

About the pearl in the clam -

After you raise the statue, there will be a light blue stone at the base near the feet. Have a Master Builder pick it up shape it, then have a Master Scientist pick it up to polish it. Finally, have your chief pick it up to swap it for the black pearl in the clam.

About the Jack of all Trades -

You can get this award, but you have to be persistent with your chosen villager. I recommend using a male villager because he won't have to spend time nursing babies. Make sure you have at least level 2 Medicine so that you can actually train the visitor to be a Doctor. As soon as your villager achieves Master on a trade, change to another one. The Parenting trade is the hardest to master. Note that the Parenting skill increases at the moment when you hear the kissing sound. You don't have to wait for them to go indoors. As soon as you hear it, pick up your chosen villager and drop again, over and over. If you use a female over 50, she won't have a baby. You can also gain Parenting skill by dropping onto a child to tell a story.

I hope this helps you! :)
