To Wishie:

It does sometimes take some time for the baby shows up as a child once the timer goes to 0 minutes. It's not instantaneous.

If you don't have enough housing, the game will tell you immediately when you try to make a baby. I simply will not allow a baby to be made at all.

I don't know what is causing your timer problems. It's not a known bug. Have you tried starting a second tribe to see if the same thing happens? You might also try to download the game again from the site where you originally purchased it. That's really the last suggestion I have.

Does anyone know what the signs on the rock wall mean by the orchard? What are the loose stones going to be or do? They are by the cave entrance.

Reply

To Sonja Brown:

I think the symbols on the wall are supposed to be the ingredients of the potion to get the pink gem.

The loose stones by the cave entrance are just used to rebuild the bath. After that, they just sit there.

Hi, I have VV3 version 1.00.02 which I understand could be the cause of my problem, but I wanted to make sure. I have completed all the puzzles (even the statue worked for me)except for the last one. I have entered the secret room

turned the sundial to the far left, and talked to the hovering ghosts several times. I know all about their sad story.

However, it will still not mark the last puzzle as completed. Am I missing something or is it a known glitch in my version? Also, other than the satisfaction of seeing all the puzzles marked as "solved", is there any benefit to getting the game to recognize the last puzzle as solved?

Reply

To Tina:

Once you get the spirits to appear, the puzzle is supposed to be solved. I don't believe there's a known bug for this. The only thing I can recommend is to close the game and then solve the puzzle again when you open it back up.

You don't gain anything special when this puzzle shows up as solved. Just the satisfaction. :)

i mean , if i became able to plant the trees will this be enough and i won't need to get rid of the sharks?

3-and to buy the level 2 faction it needs 55000 points , that's too much, i just have 2000 points , i just baught level 2 restoration and level 2 alchemy since i started this game, will i ever have the points needed for level 2 faction to get rid of the sharks?

I'll be happy to answer your questions. It sounds like you're a new player. I hope you enjoy the game. Also, we have another thread for Virtual Villagers 3 that has a complete walkthough for all of the puzzles. It's got lots of helpful information. There's also a FAQ at the top of this page, as well as on the other thread. Here is the link:

http://jayisgames.com/archives/2008/05/virtual_villagers_3_hint_through.php

Esteemed Elders -

Esteemed Elders are villagers who have achieved Master level on at least three skills.

Food -

As your tribe grows, the trees in the orchard will not provide enough food. You'll need to get rid of the sharks so your villagers can have unlimited fishing.

Tech points -

You will get enough tech points to buy everything that's available. You have to prioritize and manage your village to make sure you get the right things at the right time so that the village thrives.

Age for having babies -

Females can start having babies at age 18.

Robe at the amphitheater -

The robe is used to determine who is chief. Have every villager try it on until it fits someone. That's your chief.

Like I said, be sure to check the other thread for all kinds of information and answers to problems. Good luck!

I have solved all the puzzles, have all the awards except for two or three, and have pretty much completed the game. The "surprise" hut at the end is quite nice and kind of fun. However, I noticed that my chief is gone, and I can't seem to replace her. She didn't die or anything because I checked the Roster of the Dead and she's not on it. I tried placing all the adults and children at the robe site(I have 85 villagers so it took awhile) but there was no suitable replacement... So... is this it then? My village is thriving and the chief gets whisked away? Any ideas?

Reply

To JIGuest:

It's strange that your chief doesn't show up on the Roster of the Dead. However, if the robe is back in place at the amphitheater, you'll be able to get a new chief. One of your villagers is definitely the chief. Another way to test everyone is to put the game on pause (space bar) and drop everyone on the robe so that they all try it on at once when you unpause the game.

Reply
Anonymous October 15, 2008 1:33 PM

Thanks for the suggestion Pam. It worked!

I did what you said, although I didn't place the entire village on the robe, maybe half. And lo and behold, everyone started celebrating because they found a new chief. Now I can get down to the business of completing my collection with the chief's help. About my previous chief... she must have been dead for a while and I just didn't notice it. There were others who had died after her and she got buried among the names.

Hi everyone,
I opened the game and it said that it is science day and some kids were in the research area, I clicked on one of the kids and it said they were an apprentice scientist.

Does anybody know what the science day is and what is an apprentice scientist?

Reply

To lita_920:

Science Day is just a random island event, like when they honor the dead. An apprentice scientist (or any other trade) is a child who gets some skill before becoming an adult, either by inheriting it from parents or from the lessons of the chief.

Hello,

My question is, My scientist is weakened. How can I make him better? I don't have some kind of healer jet, But I have to make him better so I can make the Shark potion. Otherwise I'm afraid he won't survive!

To Janneke:

You can make potions to make your villagers healthier. Keep in mind that any potion can blow up if you don't have levels 2 and 3 of Alchemy. Click the walkthrough link at the top of this page to find a list of potions.

Also, about healers -

Any villager can heal another. You don't need a trained healer for that. However, if a villager is weakened, healing won't help. Healing only helps if the villager is sick, which is different than weakened.

Reply

To Carol:

If you're saying those numbers represent how much longer your fire will burn... something's wrong. A fire should never burn longer than 39 hours on 1/2 speed. Exit your game and re-boot it to see if the timer will correct itself.

Wait until you see the white sparkles coming from the fire. At that point, don't add any more wood to it and let it die out. The gem will be in the ashes.

Reply

to pam

what do you mean it isn't possible to get more than 39 hours on a fire, all you have to do is set the time on the computer backwards and when you go back on, the fire will last longer.
try it yourself just make sure your game's not paused and you've got a fire lit

Reply

Thanks, Pam. I'll try that.

Reply

To Vzare:

What I mean is that in the playing of the game, a new fire lasts 9 hours in fast mode, 19 hours in regular mode, and 39 hours in slow mode. For someone to have over 100,000 hours left to burn on their fire means something is wrong. When you build your fire or add wood to it, it should only show those numbers of hours depending on what speed you're playing on. And then, of course, the number goes down as the game is played.

I very strongly oppose changing your computer clock to manipulate the game. It causes nothing but trouble. In fact, if someone has messed with the computer clock, that could very well be the reason the fire shows a wacky number of hours and won't show the sparkles for the Ash Gem.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. You've finished the collection of the tablet pieces, but pieces are still showing up? Are you trying to get the duplicates for extra science points? What kind of strange locations are they appearing? If the concern is just that duplicates show up, that happens with all of the collections. They show up even after you've collected them. If you don't want or need them, don't bother picking them up.

How many huts are possible - I'm going crackers because I made it to the end, except for some tortoise shells and collectibles still not found, but I don't understand about the huts and clothing hut? I've just got the three that were built on ruins, and the population is growing now, whether I help or not (this causes worse outfits imo), with all the restoration tech - how will they fit in three huts + I think I saw somewhere there's a lot more anyway. The builders will be out of work now - help appreciated!

Reply

To Neroli:

You'll have a total of three regular huts, which will allow the population to reach its max of 90+ villagers.

The foundation for the clothing/sewing hut appears late in the game. For me, it normally shows up after I've purchased all technology. The sewing hut won't do anything for the population size.

To increase building skill after all building projects are complete, please look at question #8 in the FAQ at the top of this page.

Hi again. Um, I was reading about the clothing hut. I believe I have it - the house next to the waterfall that has flowers around it. I was wondering how to change the clothes, because I'd drop my people on it but they'd just walk away.

And another thing is that I still don't have the white gem from the fire... It's been my third or fourth fire already. :/

Reply

To Wishie:

The hut you are referring to is the love hut where they go to make babies. It's not the clothing hut. The clothing hut will show up very late in the game, probably after you have completed all of the puzzles and purchased all technology. You'll see the its foundation appear to the right of the flower hut.

As for the gem key -

Another person posted that the fire needs to burn for 60 hours straight. Just keep your fire burning until you see white sparkles in it. Then it's time to let it burn out and the gem will be sitting in the ashes.

The aromatherapy and pool are mostly passive, as you said. Sometimes I think that if I drop villagers into the pool, they will be happier and live longer, but I have no proof. I especially put the elderly ones in the pool a lot.

The table pieces will continue to appear in the same spot where the rubbish was cleared.

Purchased this game for the first time and wanted to add my $0.02 cents. When you first start the game or any time during the game that you are "low" on food the villagers worry about food and stop what they are doing. Not quite sure that I understand that since nothing gets done with them all hanging around the food bin.

Also don't understand why the "collections/mushrooms" disappear. I think they ought to stay there.

I don't/didn't like how I haD TO "DRAG"the screen around to look at different parts of the island. If someone is carrying something around and you accidentally grab them then they droip what ever they were carring and it's lost.

I also think that the villager should automatically do the "task" that you have assigned them. Example: a child is 12 with no experience and you assign them to "research" when they are of age. You go to bed and when you get up in the morning to check on them, they're 18 and have done absolutely nothing.

Another problem I had was when you're trying to gather all your builders together to move the statue it becomes VERY difficult since you have to put them so close to one another in order for them to start moving it and women end up becoming pregnant, the guys run if they happen to "embrace" each other, etc...

Baffled as to why some of the spoils mention to put your Chief "some where" to "direct work" since they still do what they want/feel/ like doing and also wonder off.

Have a few other "vents" about the game, but think most of you get the picture. However, I did/do enjoy playing the game.

The story of Isola... well, the villager's original island was destroyed and they left in boats. They came into storms and one of the boats crashed on Isola. That's where the first game starts. A couple of villagers explore a cave and fall down a waterfall and discover children living on their own. That's the second game. Then a group from that village set out to explore the other side of the island, and that's this third game.

Is it just starvation or disease? Or is there some other things too? Is it usually because of an island event? As many examples as you know please.
Speaking of island events, that brings me to my next question. How often do island events occur? I'm on fast, and difficulty level normal.

Reply

To The Person:

About village tragedies -

It's mostly starvation and disease that will kill a tribe. And yes, it usually comes in the form of island events. Maybe something happens that destroys the entire food supply. Or a plague moves through the tribe. I've had a tidal wave once that wiped out a significant portion of the village. These things generally doesn't happen very often. I think probably the most common thing would be the village dying off naturally if you ignore it for too long. Just not enough reproduction to keep it going.

For me, island events occur about once a day. Usually when I open the game to play for awhile, there's an island event waiting for me.
