I did some experimentation with DNA, Y and Z both pertain to number of petals. Y dictates the number of inner petals when there are multiple layers, while Z dictates the number of outer petals.

For example:

Y is the number of petals on the innermost layer (if K is larger than 0.1 this layer is hidden). Z is the number of outermost petals. All layers between the innermost and outermost layers are intermediate steps between Y and Z. Here, the progression is 6, 8, 10, 12.

AA and AB are interdependent in a way I don't fully understand yet but they also pertain to inner and outer layers.

What would be interesting would be to see leaves growing on the sides and perhaps thorns. I also agree that the plants should have a tendancy to keep their bright colors when mixed.

Another cool concept would to be able to manage multiple plant farms (viewing 1 at a time to keep RAM from eating up), then being able to mix a few seeds from one farm to another. You could switch between these through some kind of island map menu or just have a tab bar... something like that.

I really like this concept, the DNA hex looking stuff is also pretty awesome. It makes people want to experiment to see what happens.
