I've enjoyed this game more than the original. Just ran into what appears to be a limit. I should have my 51st village elder, but the game didn't pick up up on it or give him a totem. I'll admit the "totem patch" is getting crowded but I like the challenge of getting three master skill levels out of the folk.

Still missing some collectables, but above hints may help.

Has anyone figured out how to get the gong piece in the center of the mosaic? i am level 3 in everything, 4 totems, completed all the puzzles except the last gong piece. I have place a totem everywhere in the Mosaic and still cant find it.

Has anyone been able to make this game run on Windows Vista? I've been a fan of the first one, and wanted to try this sequel on my laptop, but unfortunately, it won't work under vista...

Nevermind, I figured out the problem, though for anyone else having the same problem with uncovering the mosaic...

To uncover the mosaic you need to have level 3 culture AND level 3 engineering. Once you've obtained these, just drag a master builder to the mosaic and they will start to uncover it.

... It took a while to uncover it even at 2x speed. I even had about 20 villagers working on it at once.

Reply

my people aren't getting tech points as fast,i know i have to put more peeps on the table and collect the same shells and stuff but that gets boring.please help.

Reply

Please help! None of my villagers are having babies. I've tried young ones old one and all different types of couples! They won't get pregnant... my last child is now 6 and i'm afraid i won't be able to get any collectables.

Reply

I found out why you cant get the last GONG piece at the MOSAIC. I found that the problem is there is an issue with the game. There is an update for the game that fixes this issue. When reinstalled, you will lose your game and have to start all over.

Make sure you are running new version or you may be waisting your time..

03/20/2007 New version 1.01.04 uploaded - Corrects some minor game play issues, including a problem with solving the Gong of Wonder.

Jay writes: This issue DOES NOT exist with the games available for download on this page!

This is a known problem with the Reflexive Arcade version ONLY.

You DO NOT have to update your game if you are playing with one that you downloaded using the links above: from ArcadeTown (PC) or Big FIsh (Mac).

bikijean, leave the game (pause and quit) and return and see if it's in place.

Jim, That is all there is for puzzles and stuff to solve. How many villagers do you have? I keep the game going and got 117 villagers and 50 totems (that is the limit). Now I am playing a second game.

Reply

lynsey , put a builder on a hut to fix it. The skill will go up. Drop them on the roof of a hut and they will try to fix it.

Doctors get to be masters when they heal villagers. Did you have the doctors study all the herbs on the island? Take them to each of the 6 herbs and drop them on it.

elli , sounds like you are out of luck. No females no babies. You may have to start the game over.

Agnes 2 build your 2nd hut you need to drag all builders onto the scaffolding.

Reply

londa to stop the birds eating your crops you need to make a scarecrow. drag a builder over to the rocks by the brambles

Reply

how do you get rid of the mucus or whatever that icky green stuff in the ocean were you are fishing?!?!?!?

Reply

Agnes - to build 2nd hut, just click on any person and drop her/him on the scaffolding (it's a square of rocks/wood serving as the perimeter for the framework of your hut). More scaffoldings will automatically appear after you steadily increase your population. I think the scaffolding for my second hut didn't appear until I reached 15 people. I am now bulding my 3rd hut with a population of 31 people.

BTW: I am assuming you mean huts that are meant for living quarters, which the game automatically provides the framework for (all you do is complete building it). I am not including in my hut count the following: the flower draped hut, a.k.a., the "love shack" where people mate; and the sewing hut.

Hello.
I finished everything and i have my gong complete.
My question is how do I get my villagers to do what they are doing in the picture above? They are all dress the same and they are "dancing" in the mosaic.
Is there something else I should be doing???

Reply

I no longer play the game. I enjoyed it yes, but when all you have left to do is get three collectibles and done eveything, is it is boring. The collectables should be easier to get or have something else to do instead. I won't be finishing the game because of this boredom I am under. An anticlimatic finish to this game it seems. Too bad, the rest was fun!

Reply

One more tip before I leave, Never have an elder ring the gong of wonder. If the gong decides to grant wisdom, it is only granted on the one who rang the gong. Therefore wisdom is wasted. Check the villager and see if he needds wisdom in any area, CHECK that area, then ring the gong. My adept builer turned into a master because of it.

Are 50 totems all you can get since you can only get 50 tomb stones? I read on here where someone had 50 totems and found all their villagers had on white dresses and black tuxes.

Reply

Nada, I think you mean me. 50 totems is the limit in the game and 50 graves. I solved everything and had 117 villagers (you get extra people with all the collections). I dressed all my ladies in the long peach colored dresses and my men in the all black outfits. I had to buy the clothes at the sewing hut. They looked like they were going to a formal party. To get points faster, there is no simple way. You just have to be patient and have the kids pick up all the collectibles. All double collectibles add to the tech points. Put as many villagers on research as you can. Master scientists add more tech points then others.

Need Advice:

I right now have:
Level 2 Farming, L-2 Engineering, L-2 Exploration,
Level 1 Medicine, L-1 Science, L-1 Culture.
17,000 point,
I have a farm with 600 crops and coconut tree with 800 crops, so crops isnt an issue.

What should I buy next, Level 3 farming to get rid of ALGAE,..or Level 2 culture to explore what's behind the vines,
or you know other level 2 things like med & science, I dont know what that does.

What should I do next?! No one has anything to do except the poor little boy I have running around collecting 5 point mushrooms and collectibles to boost my point up.
I put everyone else on research, cuz I dont know what to do next??

Also wanted to share: Did anyone notice, you hear a chime ring just before a collectible pops up. I think that sound indicates something is about to arrive. A short chime, I find a mushroom,..a longer chime I find a stone or seashell or bugs, etc

Reply

Ibrahim- "can i know how can i grow food? im running out of food and i dont want my villagers to die!!"

Do you have a farm of crops yet?? Because you need to build a dam for that and also teach your villagers to climb coconut tree (I think that comes with Lev-2 faming, double check that).

Why are you running out of food?
Do you have a crop farm? Build that!
If you did, did you train them to get coconuts, do that.
I myself am waiting to collect the 90000 points so i can clear the algae.

WHAT You CAN DO IMMEDIATELY.. I guess, is grab a child, and monitor ur island,..as soooon as you see a mushroom, drop the child on it, and he'll pick it up. That's desperate measure though.. you have to have other ways to get food.
Red mushroom is like 35 food point..i think. and the brown ones are just 6 .. still good when you need them.
CAN someone answer my question up above please!.. thanks!

I saw someone else had made a bunch of little girls, but no boys. My last female is about to wean her last baby boy and then it will be all over for my village (after they get old, of course). Does anyone know why there are sometimes only girls or only boys? Is there something that I'm missing? It's not in the walkthrough.

Menahem April 7, 2007 2:11 PM

i lost my Calderon or so i think is that glitch if you need help my spoiler tells every puzzle and how to complete it

1. Some food supplies may be limited, so be alert for the opportunity to discover new sources of food.
2. Clicking on the mask on the main game screen will reveal many different tips that will help you play the game more effectively.
3. Nursing mothers devote all of their time to caring for their baby and don't do any productive work in the village for 2 years of game time.
4. Babies eat as much as adults and making too many babies too soon can quickly create a food crisis.
5. Any villager (even a sick one or a child) can heal another villager, but healing is only possible when a villager's status is "Sick" (check the Details screen).
6. Sometimes a villager will "resist" healing attempts by a specific doctor. If that happens, try to heal your sick villager again with a different villager.
7. Sick villagers need to be healed or they will weaken and die
8. Villagers can become weakened by such things as prolonged disease, starvation, on-the-job injuries, Island Events, or old age.
9. Villagers who show a status of "Weakened" will generally improve in health over time unless they are sick, elderly or continue to suffer injuries. Switching them to a less demanding job will help speed their recovery.
10. The villagers need to be taught to perform a job; they will not start working in a new job on their own. It can be a good idea to monitor their learning progress until they reach Trainee status, so that they will work more reliably on their own.
11. You can view information about various technology advancements on the Village Tech screen by clicking on the "?" button for that technology. This information will help you choose the order in which to purchase new technology.
12. The villagers' curiosity is often a clue to puzzles.
13. The children can find and harvest mushrooms to augment the village food supply, but only if you make them do it.
14. Using the keyboard to zoom around the map is an easy way to search for those collectible items. There are 9 sectors of the map, which correlate to the numbers 1-9 on the numeric keypad. You can also use the row of numbers at the top of the keyboard, if your computer doesn't have a numeric keypad.
15. Picking up a villager while they're working will interrupt them, and they will drop (and lose) the object that they were carrying.
General puzzle strategy guide:
Most of the puzzles are dependent upon some combination of Village Tech, villager skills, and other puzzles. Although some puzzles depend upon the completion of specific puzzles, the 16 puzzles are rarely completed in the order that you see them on the puzzle screen. Pay attention to the things that your villagers are curious about and the messages that you see when you take one of your villagers "exploring" around the island. These often provide clues that will help you solve the puzzles. Another good strategy is to drag one of your adult villagers around the island after every tech purchase and look for new things that they can work on, since many of the technologies open up new possibilities for your villagers. Most of the frustration related to solving the puzzles is brought on by impatience. It takes time for your villagers to gain the necessary skills and technology to work through all of the puzzles.
Hints for the 16 puzzles:
You can safely browse these if you just need a gentle push in the right direction. Each puzzle is referred to by number. The puzzles are counted sequentially, with 1 being the leftmost puzzle in the top row, and 16 being the rightmost puzzle in the bottom row.
Puzzle 1 is something that will provide warmth, protection, and technological advantage to your tribe. It can be solved at the beginning of the game.
Puzzle 2 requires a certain level of technology and will allow your villagers to enjoy a regular, if limited, source of food.
Puzzle 3 requires the completion of Puzzle 2 and a skilled villager to fashion something that will protect one of the sources of food.
Puzzle 4 requires a certain level of technology and a highly skilled villager who will fashion something that your villagers will need in order to completely explore some areas of the village.
Puzzle 5 involves the flowers and herbs located in various parts of the village. This puzzle can be completed at the beginning of the game.
Puzzle 6 requires a villager with well-rounded skills.
Puzzle 7 will open up an unlimited food supply by restoring the ocean to its former condition. You will need to have highly skilled villagers and a certain level of technology.
Puzzle 8 reveals ancient writings. Your villagers will need a certain level of technology, as well as the completion of Puzzle 4.
Puzzle 9 requires the completion of Puzzle 1, a certain level of technology, a hidden item, and the flowers and herbs that your villagers can find in various parts of the village.
Puzzle 10 requires a certain level of two different technologies. Drag a villager to the southeast part of the village.
Puzzle 11 is a special building that requires a certain level of technology. You will see a foundation appear, which your villagers can work on.
Puzzle 12 is another special building that requires a certain level of technology. You will see a foundation appear, which your villagers can work on.
Puzzles 13-16 involve the recovery of pieces of the Gong of Wonder, which can be retrieved only after meeting the necessary requirements. Retrieving the pieces will variously involve teamwork among skilled villagers, purchasing of required levels of Village Tech, and completion of Puzzles 6, 9, and 10. Your villagers will reveal some clues as you try various things in the game, and there will be more specific clues that you can study when you complete Puzzle 8.
Detailed spoilers for the 16 puzzles:
Don't read these unless you want to know exactly how to solve each of the puzzles.
Puzzle 1 involves building a fire in the fire pit. Drag one of your villagers to the pile of dry wood in the southwest part of the village to gather firewood. After the wood is placed in the fire pit, take a villager to the very dry grass that can be found to the west of the coconut trees. Once the firewood and dry grass have been placed in the fire pit, drag a villager there to light the fire. You will need to replenish the firewood periodically to keep the fire from going out.
Puzzle 2 is the construction of a dam that will divert water from the stream to an area that can be used for farming. After you purchase Level 2 of Engineering Tech, drag a villager to the rocks that are in the middle of the lower portion of the stream. You will see a message, "He/she could probably build a dam here."
Puzzle 3 is a scarecrow that an adept farmer can construct in order to protect the crops from the birds. After you complete the dam (and have a farm), drag an adept or master farmer to the twisted pieces of wood and vines that are located in the northern portion of the village. The scarecrow requires two trips to complete, so make sure that you finish the construction, or your crops will not be protected.
Puzzle 4 is the fashioning of special cutting tools that will be needed to cut away vegetation in some parts of the village. After purchasing Level 2 of Exploration Tech, drag a master scientist to the northern part of the village where he will see something among the rocks near the twisted pieces of wood and vines (look for things that resemble spear tips that have little sparkles coming from them). Your scientist will need to make a second trip to finish the tools, so take him to the twisted wood and vines (where you got the material for the scarecrow) to get the necessary materials.
Puzzle 5 is completed when your villagers learn mastery of six special plants located in various parts of the village. Drag a villager to each of them and watch for the message that each has been mastered. The plants are (beginning in the northwest part of the village and moving clockwise): the odd-looking plant immediately to the left of the very dry grass, the blue flower between the thorns and the rocks, the small lavender flower at the northern edge of the graveyard, the black flowers near the waterfall, the bright reddish flowers south of the dam site, and the large orange-red flower at the south edge of the village.
Puzzle 6 is completed when you have sufficiently trained a villager to become master in three skills. That villager will become an Esteemed Elder, and a totem will be created to commemorate their new status in the village.
Puzzle 7 is the elimination of the algae in the ocean that was caused by over fishing. After purchasing Level 3 of Farming Tech, take a master farmer or master scientist to the pond, where they will collect algae-eating fish that they can use to repopulate the ocean. Once sufficient fish have been placed in the ocean, the algae will once again be under control and the villagers will have unrestricted fishing.
Puzzle 8 is the removal of the vines that cover the wall on the east side of the village. After you purchase Level 3 of Culture Tech and have completed Puzzle 4, drag a villager to the vine-covered wall and they will begin cutting away the vines.
Puzzle 9 is the ability to make various stews for your villagers. To make stew, you will need to have purchased Level 2 of Exploration Tech, retrieved the cauldron from the wood pile, mastered at least one of the special plants, and started a fire in the fire pit. The steps to make a stew are: 1) Drop a villager on the cauldron to put the cauldron on the fire 2) Drop a villager on the cauldron again, and he or she will go get water for the stew 3) Drop a villager on any of the mastered plants, and the villager will gather herbs for the stew. Each stew requires a total of 3 herbs, in any combination. 4) Drop a villager on the cauldron again, and he or she will go get food to add to the stew. When the stew is complete, the villager will move the cauldron off the fire. Some stews are good, some are bad, and some make your villagers do interesting things. Experiment and have fun with them. You can also find different "recipe books" that have been created for the game that contain all of the stew combinations.
Puzzle 10 requires Level 3 of both Engineering Tech and Culture Tech. Drag a villager to the ancient covered floor in the southeast part of the village and they will begin uncovering the site.
Puzzle 11 is the construction of a hospital. After you purchase both Level 3 of Engineering Tech and Medicine Tech, a foundation will appear that your villagers can work on.
Puzzle 12 is the construction of a sewing hut, which will allow you to change the clothing that your villagers are wearing. After you purchase Level 2 of both Culture Tech and Science Tech, a foundation will appear that your villagers can work on.
Puzzles 13-16 are the pieces of the Gong of Wonder. The four pieces can be retrieved in the following ways:
1. A team of 3 Master Builders can open the crate on the beach, where one of the pieces has been hidden.
2. After purchasing Level 2 of Exploration, your villagers can clear the thorns blocking access to the gong encasement, which will also reveal a piece of the gong.
3. Prepare a magic stew that will allow one of your villagers to dive for the sunken gong piece in the pond. The herbs needed for that magic stew are: one of the black flower near the waterfall and two of the red-orange flower on the south side of the village. The pictures of the required herbs can be seen in the drawings on the wall once the vines have been removed.
4. After finishing Puzzles 6 and 10, drop a totem in the center of the uncovered mosaic to reveal a piece of the gong.
Once the gong is assembled you can experiment with the effects that it has on your village. You can bang the gong once every 24 hours.

Beware that has all the info on game everything or so i think

Reply

I keep trying to "open" the crate by the ocean...I've had a master builder who can't do it alone...then have dragged 2 master builder's over to it and they still can't do it "alone"...what am I missing with this??? Please help! Thank you!

get wood from the pile by the hut that needs fixing, then go up to the corner by the top left hand of the screen and get some grass, after that put the villager on the fire place and they will do the rest

I am running out of food, my coconut trees are almost empty and i have algea in the ocean. How do I create crops? Do I need 3rd level farming? How do you build the dam for it and how to you "irrigate" to dry patch of soil?

Thanks!

Reply

Kim- you have Level 3 farming, then just take a master scientist or master farmer and drop them into the pond, they will fish out alge-eating fish and take it to the ocean themselves. I had allll my master scientists & the master farmer too fishing out the fish and taking it to the ocean, I still had to make about 3 trip to clear out the algae. Keep having them bring the fish into the ocean until you get the message that your ocean is clean to fish. ..and then start fishing from there for food.

Then build a dam, by placing a villager on (you see the pile of wooden sticks at the end of the stream- well you have to put the villager right ABOVE & LEFT of those sticks) onto some rocks that are there, which will connect the fertile land to the stream left to right.
Hope this helps you.

Reply

Kim- Sorry I thought you already had Level 3 farming, yea, you need Lev-3 for getting rid of algae.

Just start the crop farm asap.
While you're playing get the kids to collect mushrooms by dropping them on it as soon as you see it, it'll give you 6 point for brown mushroom and i think 35 pts for red ones...every little bit helps sometimes.

The RAFT that everyone is talking about. It's one of those island events that happens. I had quit the game for the night and when i went back in the next morning a message popped up saying that "8 of my villagers built a raft and set sail in search of another island". I thought that maybe we would be going to another island, but i dont think that is the case, as i have had this message twice and lost 16 villagers. The game has suprised me aswell i thought there would be more to it than that.

Just wondering about the yellow flower. If you look at the picture at the top of the page, it shows a yellow flower to the left of the mosaic centre, where the children are all lined up. Does anyone else have the yellow flower as i dont.

Please..... What do I install? Also, I have an okay spoiler that's really important for beginners.

In the beginning, you have three workers and a 13/12 year old. Make the girl have a baby, and the next eldest girl should have a baby too! The men should be farmers, that way it's fair for the mamas!

Saysay - What do you install? Before you can install the game you need to download the installer.

Just download the installer (.exe file) using the download link above. Choose to save it to your desktop. Then run the installer and accept the defaults. It will put the game in a folder in your Program Files directory.

I am new to this game and have only played for a few hours but can not figure out how to get them to get the coconuts. What am I doing wrong?

After playing around for awhile and trying to get more totems, I discovered a few things to make it happen.
Some of the jobs are tough to master. Science and farming are very easy. Building takes time. Doctor and parent can be done but require some work...tedious work!

To master the building skill, after all of the buildings are up, the villagers who have "building" set as their skill will continue to examine and fix the existing buildings. They improve when they 'fix' a building but not if they 'examine' it. They will do this on their own but it takes years to reach master. If you are helping to advance them to master level, make sure when you drop them it says "fixing hut." This can be done with the hospital and the regular huts.

The doctor skill requires some assistance from the player or lots of sick villagers...or both! They will improve in healing if they examine any of the six plants around the village. Set them on healing as soon as they turn 14 and show them a couple of the plants until they show trainee status. They will continue to examine the plants on their own until they reach adept. Then they go swimming, relaxing, dancing, cooling their feet, etc. If you want them to examine the plants you have to put them there.
They seem to advance more quickly in the skill if they heal someone. If you don't have enough sick people in the village, you can make a villager sick with certain stews. Then the adept doctor will run over to heal them. I know it sounds cruel, but I'm sure there's one or two of your villagers that you don't like much! :) Once they reach master status make sure to uncheck the healing skill if you have others that you are training to be master doctors.

As far as the parenting skill, I only found one way to get a villager to master this one. I had a guy who drank a vial of something that got him very adept at parenting. To push him over the top, I had him hook up with the ladies over 50. They won't have more babies but they still like to 'go indoors.' Also, you don't actually have to wait for them to go all the way indoors before you try again.

I hope these are helpful! The game is fun but it does get a little boring once you have everything in place. I just keep changing their clothes and trying to find interesting couples to mate. It makes for some interesting children!

How do u pick the flowers or whatever to make the stew cause i cant and how do u open the box thing on the shore?

Reply

Anonymous , left of the cemetery is a little rock with what looks like 3 fingers on it. If you drop your villager on that rock the tools will start. It takes 2 trips. Second drop the same person on the root looking stuff below the rock. This only works after level 2 of exploration.

nevada682,stew

Crate on the beach

A team of 3 Master Builders can open the crate on the beach, where one of the pieces has been hidden.

Ok, I have something that needs to be tested. I think it works, but I would like somebody else to try it out too. If you don't like just clicking on random spoilers, then i'll tell you that it has something to do with worker determination/speed.

Instead of having the camera focused on working villagers, try moving it to an unpopulated area (the grave yard or a fully built house) and see how it affects the villagers determination to do their assigned job. This worked very well for puzzle2, they did not repeatedly go to the research table, or go fishing. Right now i'm repairing the hut near the pile of wood, it seems to be working wonders.

No pun intended!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I just realised that my "cheat" does not work for research. It only works with percentiles, like when you have to

build the dam for puzzle 2, and building/repairing the huts.

And it DOES NOT keep the workers from "enjoying the pond" or "getting a drink" although they should immediatley return to their work. The only thing this does is keep them from switching from chore to chore.

Here's how to get that gong peice.

First, you must have completed puzzle four and nine. Then you must make a stew with two orange flowers and one blue. The orange flower is located on the south side of the island, and the blue one is located near the giant mouth on the north side. Now simply make a villager eat the stew, then drag them to the drowned gong peice.

How to make a stew.

To make a stew, you first need level two of exploration technology, then you must get the cauldron from the wood pile on the south west side of the island. Once you get it, drop a villager on it to get water, then again to add food to the stew. (This takes two food points) Now add whatever herbs you want, each stew requires a minimum/maximum of 3 stews to become edible. After the creation of a stew, simply drag a fourteen+ yr. old villager (They must be able to work, mothers cannot eat stews!) to the stew to make them eat it. After that, the effect of the stew will appear in the text line at the bottom of the screen.

Hope I helped! Oh, and please try my cheat! (3 posts up)
