i am so stuck does anyone know how to get loads of tech points really fast?

Are there any restrictions on elderly villagers?

I'm playing on iPod touch for only 3 dollars I get unlimited time so I can do the whole game! It's great...

does any 1 no how i move the big brick by the sea plz help stuck
and where i get grass from for the fire

Lauren -

Do you mean the crate by the water? You need 3 master builders to open it. As for the grass, it is at the far upper left of the island.

I have solved all the puzzles but cannot seem to find the last of the collections. 1 butterfly and four pebbles? Any suggestions?

nrhfdw -

Collectibles are the key. Any collectibles you have the kids pick up that are already in the collection net you extra tech points: 100 for common, 250 for uncommon, 1,500 for rare.

Mimi -

I am unsure what you mean by restrictions.

Arva -

All you can do is keep looking. The butterflies are hard after you've played for a while, because many of the places they show up get covered with huts, people, and gravestones.

Grinnyp what do you mean by restrictions: are there some things they cannot do? I think that one restriction is that they can't gain experience anymore...

i am not finding any beetles. any help on where to find them?

Mimi -

The elderly certainly can gain experience, they just do it much more slowly, like they do everything else. Elderly women (in fact, women past the age of 50) can't have kids, but elderly men can still father them. They can still perform tasks and gain experience, but at something like half the speed of adults.

JIGuest -

Have you cut away the briars at the top of the screen? That's where the beetles appear, but only after the area is cleared.

Does anyone know why the last piece of the gong won't appear when I drop a totem in the center of the mosaic? I have four totems, have dropped all of them in the center of the mosaic, dragged villagers onto the mosaic and no gong piece has appeared anywhere. I have level 3 of all technologies except Science so I'm not sure why this final piece is not appearing. Any help would be appreciated.

I have this problem to, but I have al technologies on level 3.

JIGuest -

This is a glitch that showed up in some early versions of the game. What version do you have? You might contact the vendor where you purchased the game to see if they have a later version you can download.

I keep trying to have baby's but it never works. I drop a boy & girl in the same spot they go to the "love hut" come out and theres no baby. what am I doing wrong?

[Not all attempts at having a child will yield a new baby. When you hear the "smooching" sound immediately check the population count to see if it has gone up by (at least) 1. If not, they won't be successful at having a baby, so you can interrupt their attempt and try again. Keep trying and eventually you will have a new baby (or 2 or 3!). -Jay]

Is it better to wait to get 16000 points and upgrade science for faster tech points before upgrading exploration? I do hope that faster means that cos this is dreadfully slow.

Well, I'm doing it anyway. Almost there.

Not a lot faster. Having to get 90000 points before clearing the ocean means keeping your tribe's population down, certainly below 20, or you run out of food quick-time.

I'm stuck on building the scarecrow. I've dragged my villagers to the top where the vines are but it says I need "special wood" to complete the cutting tool. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Jaime, see detailed spoiler 4.The master scientist needs to be dragged up the right hand side of the boulders near to the light blue flowers. Go slow and you will get the message, "X sees something" or words to that effect.

Sorry. Slight misunderstanding there. See detailed spoiler 3. MUST be an adept or master farmer and be dragged to the wood at the end of the boulders.

I'm playing this game on my iPod Touch and I bought level 2 of the Culture tech but no plot of land for the sewing hut showed up. Is it just a glitch on my iPod or have other people came across this problem as well?

does annyone know why all of my villagers are dying?they say they are all healthy but they are dying when i turn my computer off because even when its off the game still plays.is their any way to keep them from dying?

Morgan -

Is there food in the food bin? If you go away and come back, they can die of starvation, disease, or old age. Do you have a trained doctor?

Does anyone know how can I make a master doctor? I have an adept doctor that doesn't seem to be gaining any more experience. I've had her study all the plants multiple times.

Someone -

The only other way for a doctor to gain experience is to cure villagers. There are some stew recipes that make your villagers sick enough to need the doctor, I think black + black + black or black + black + any other color. Experiment a bit and see which one works. Then, make a bunch of villagers sick and let your doctor cure them. It's a bit nasty to your villagers, but can help train a doctor.

Wait so....we never figure out why the old adults of the island left and who those lost children really were? D:

And to Mimi:
I've found that my old women (Like 40+) can't have babies...or it's REAlLY difficult, but I haven't been able to accomplish it yet.

okay. i have what i need but the sewing place didn't show! help?

Kitty -

Have you purchased level 2 of culture yet? The foundations won't show up until you do.

I have problems with puzzle 9 - where do I find the cauldron? I found one in the wood pile and put a builder to get it, but I don't know where he was putting it. I didn't follow him cause there was a celebration. Do I get a new one at some point?

LOL! My elderly elder, is felling a bit lonely. So I dropped a person on her, and the game thinks i want them to 'mate' should I say. And my elderly elder trys to run away... at the speed of a turtle! I've seriously seen a tortoise/turtle do faster!
LOL! EPIC!

help! My villager was getting the cauldron, but i accidently picked him up and my cauldron dissappeared! what should i do?

How long does it take to master an herb?! It's taking me forever!!! I'm trying to master the orange one at the south side of the village and it's taking way too long! I have to constantly keep dropping my villager on that one plant so it won't go be lazy and jump into the pond as always. My healer is an Adept Doctor btw. Am I doing something wrong?

i've dropped a totem in the middle of mosaic, but why the gong piece didn't show up?
Can somebody tell me?

how do i have a master builder when i have finish all the building .. and all my master builder died >

How can I level up my builders because I want to open the crate by the beach and I can't because I have no master builders.

So when I have completed all the puzzles, I dont get any answers to what happened to the original islanders? I have finished the game several times to no avail.

If the gong piece does not show up when you drop the totem it is because the totem needs to be placed slightly above the center of the mosaic.

-Lauren1120
To level up your builders, get them to build some more stuff or the dam.

-Bethany

-JIGuest
In order to master a plant, you drop a villager on any plant once and then your villagers will know the plant, unless, of course, the villager's action is Shaking Head.

-Bethany

I love VV and am now playing two. I've had it for a while and never played much. But I've cracked it out of the box again. I only have one trouble.
To get the gong piece in the box, you need THREE master builders. I have 2 masters and four adepts who are very close to being master that won't stick to building. So they aren't gaining enough XP. Is there any way to make them more focused?

Does this game ever end? I have solved all the puzzles and bought all of the tech what else can I do?

About what techs to get first- I just got at least all trainees and did the time travel trick (adjusting your PC clock, don't worry- you can set it back because it cant go back in time) to go forward a year and I had loads of tech points, so I got engineering and farming at the same time! :)

how do you make the stew? all of my villagers are unhealthy and about to die, and i don't know how to heal them or anything. someone please help!!!

SOS! How do you do the PC trick, and how on earth do you get twins and triplets????

OMG!!!!! Seriously strange.... I got something that popped up and said "Biggles wants to be left alone at the research table, but doesn't say why. Accept the request OR Deny the request?" And I pushed "Accept," and it said "Wait! Who's Biggles! He isn't part of the camp! By the time your villagers realize this, it's too late, and you lose 3000 tech points." Creepy, isn't it?!?!?!

I can't seem to get my Master Scientist to master the plants... everytime I get him to study, he either improves his healing, or is unsuccessful. Is there a problem?

Meredith -

The game is open ended, you can keep your village going on forever if you'd like. You can keep playing until you've found all the collectibles, or you can do breeding experiments like trying to create a tribe entirely of redheads. Or you can kill them all and start over.

Jenny -

Is the cauldron sitting in your fire? If so, you make a stew by: (1) drop a villager on the pot to put it in the fire, (2) drop a villager on the pot again and they will fetch water for the pot. Once there is water in the pot then (3) drop three villagers on three of the six healing plants (see the walkthrough for recipes for a healing stew) and each will bring a plant to the pot. Once all the herbs are in, (4) drop a villager on the pot and they will bring vegetables, completing the stew.

Anonimus -

I think the trick they are talking about is getting out of the game and setting your PC clock forward, which will move time forward in the game. This is not recommended, as it can have several adverse effects. For instance, if you are low on food and advance your clock, you might come back to a village that has starved to death. Also, messing with the clock settings can adversely change the growing time of your crops. As for twins and triplets, they are random and happen when they happen. Biggles tends to show up in each of the Virtual Villagers games. Sometimes he's helpful, sometimes he is not.

Rini -

Dropping any villager on the plants will increase their healing potential, that is what the plants are there for. Have you found all six plants? Have you dropped a villager on each? This will not make them a better scientist but a better healer. This is how you train up doctors, by setting them to healing and dropping them on the plants until they gain the skills needed.

hi. i just wanted to know if you guys think virtual villagers 3 and 4 are worth getting and if virtual families is too. i just want to check to see if i want to get them in the future.

[I think all the Virtual Villagers games are worth getting. They are each excellent, complete games with great puzzles and secrets, and each one in the series actually gets better and better. Virtual Families is also extremely popular. Instead of puzzle solving, the emphasis is on creating your own stories as your family lives and grows. -Jay]

I retrieved the fourth gong piece on the mosaic. How ever it never showed up on the gong and when I drop the totem on it again it doesnt show up. What happened? Can I re-get it?

Can any1 tell me how to keep the villagers from getting sick

This is so hard. My mom even tried it, and she was doing so well, and then one day she saw that all her villagers were randomly dead. I even tried it too and I got the same thing! I don't know why it keeps on happening, but it does. And does anyone have any cheat codes or something so that I can have unlimited tech points or have alot of them? They can take a week at the most time limit. And how do you get more villagers again? I forget. I have a really bad memory.

Jessica -

Some early versions of the game had a bug where you couldn't collect the piece of the gong from the mosaic floor. Contact the vendor where you purchased the game and they may have a fix, or a later version of the game.

lionh3art -

Keep a fire going. Villagers get sick less often when the fire is burning. You can't prevent them from getting sick altogether, but you can train doctors to help heal them when they do get sick. There is also a stew recipe which can cure your villagers, check out the walkthrough above for details.

kylie -

Villagers can die of old age, or starvation. If you are going to leave the game for any length of time you should change the game settings to slow or pause, this will help prevent you from coming back to a village of skeletons. As for how to get more villagers, drop an adult male villager on an adult female villager and they will hopefully make little villagers.

I heard of something called the eternal flame...?
Can anyone tell me how to get it?
Or Am I just crazy xD

Is it better to upgrade to 3rd level farming or second level exploration first?

So I got two females in my village pregnant, but now they won't drop their baby!! What do I do??

I got two of my female villagers pregnant, and when their time came,they didn't drop the babies!!! Please help!!!!

Hey! I have finished all the puzzles,, What am I supposed to do now? :P Do I need all collectibles? or what will happen'?
- This site really helped me through the game, I've been playing for maybe a week now, just started with Virtual Villagers 3 also, Love the game <3

Karoline -

Although you've finished the puzzles you can keep the game going indefinitely. Finishing the collections allows you to have a greater population. Each completed collection adds 5 to the maximum population allowed.

when my friend told me about this game he said he paid 10 dollars for it but i figured out that if you go to freeridegames.com you can play the game for free.

(it's kind of slow but it's worth it since it's free and over half the time you're not really on the game) hope this saves some people money :)

when i think about it though whoever is reading this has probally already bought the game and just needs help with it but if you're lucky and you only played the crapy one hour version it's best to go to the site listed above and play the game for free.

you can also play virtual villagers 1 and 3 on the same site have fun and sorry this comment was so long just trying to help some people out

Hey i had one of my villagers pick up the stew pot ... but i didn't realise that one of my other villagers had just completed a puzzle so my first villager dropped the stew pot to go and celebrate... but now the pot is gone.. is there any way for me to find it again??

Thanks for you help

These games are great, I love them :) And I'm lucky: the dam is almost built, but the sea's still clear!

Littlelexify: try to restart your game, the cauldron should reappear in the driftwood.

BTW the algae is not caused by over fishing it happens even if you don't fish but never mind it is a really great and helpful walk through, thanks for writing it
:)

how can i dump an old stew to cook a new one?

My game won't give me any tech points! I've had 1800 points for two days now! what do I do?!

when you get the silver mirror if you say the top word nothing happens except you see an old mans face if you say you bottom one you get a clone of that villager with the same skills how sweet is that?!

I was wondering how do you make the algae in the water dissapper so that I can fish again.

ok so im stuck, so far three of my villagers have died... nooooooo! i can get the older ones to fish but how do i get them to eat?! That's the REASON WHY THEY DIE, of course there's food but they didn't eat, i drag them to the food but still! arghh. oh no, now 4 are dead :| p.s im playing VV1 & VV2 at the same time xD It's fun, passes time =D

Btw any tips or hints? please let me know :)

Okay, So I had one of my villagers pick up the cauldron, &I fast forwarded time on my computer without even thinking. Now te cauldrn is gone, & I need it to solve my last puzzle. Please help? :/

Where is

the cauldren?

I need to find it!!! WHERE!!!!!

@nrhfdw
So, you want more tech points, eh? Try these tips:

One trick that works for me; when you spot a collectible item, hit the [space] to pause, drop a child on one side of it & a second child on the other side of it. Done close enough, they should BOTH collect the item, netting you double tech points for it.

If you've got enough time & patience, you can micro-manage some villagers into becoming Master Scientists by dropping them back on the research bench as soon as they succeed/fail at their last attempt.

Also, investing those tech points in Technology helps to speed up the process. Same with Exploration, since more rare & uncommon collectibles will turn up and they're worth more points. How you prioritize this is your call.

But the best way I know how to ramp up the tech points is to just get a lot of scientists trained, do a lot of baby making with your villagers (fastest skill to learn), set the speed to double, and then exit & do anything else for a 2-4 hours.

Just so you know, there will be more challenges to the game than just collecting tech points. Starvation and illness are constant threats, so don't ignore what you need to do to ward those off.

@Sweetboy9123

The cauldron can be found down by the pile of firewood. In order to be able to spot it, you need to get your Exploration up to level 2.

@Harley
Cheating the clock can be a recipe for disaster. My best advice:

Start a new tribe and play with a little more patience. Other than that, there's not much you can do, unless you know how to mod the game. And no, I don't know how to do that, nor do I know anybody who does.

@PinK_Knight
How to make your villagers live longer:

1) Get your Exploration up to level 2. This will let you find the cauldron and make stews. The recipe of 2 purple herbs and 1 orange herb will heal your villagers completely.

2) Raise the level of your Medicine. The higher the level, the longer the max lifespan of your villagers.

3) Train a doctor. This can be done at the age of 2, believe it or not. All you have to do is drop a kid on a sick person to heal them. If it doesn't work at first, keep trying, the kid will get it eventually.

4) To accelerate tip 3, try this stew recipe to make anyone who eats it ill: Herbs are Black+Black+Brown

Hope that helps. Cheers!

@Kimchii
Here's how to solve the algae puzzle:

1) Get Farming up to level 3.

2) Drop a Master Farmer or a Master Scientist in the ocean. That villager will figure out that a specific species of algae-eating fish is needed.

3) Drop all the Master Farmers & Master Scientists you have in the pond - that's where the algae-eating fish are. (Sadly, adepts & trainees can't spot them.) Once enough of those fish have been moved from the pond to the ocean, the algae disappears and you will have sustainable fishing.

Hope that helps. Happy fishing!

@caroline

Do you have any villagers trained as scientists, with Science checked in their Details? That's something you need to do: it's part of the in-game tutorial.

Hope that helps. Let me know, ok?

@Just1?

As far as I know, you can't. I just wait for the stew to evaporate, scanning the screen for collectibles, mushrooms, and villagers wandering off-task. I doesn't take long.

@Littlelexify

The only things I can think of are:

1) Just drop a villager on the fire & see if it reappears

2)

Drop a villager in the wood pile where you first found the cauldron.

3)

Level up your Exploration and try both of the above again.

Sure hope that helps. If it doesn't, you may want to ask yourself if you want to start a new tribe. Let me know how it goes, ok?

How do I

save my village with only one woman who's 67?

Please tell me!

@Samiiii & JIGuest

Relax. Sometimes, the women hang on to their children for a little longer than normal - just like real life. It will happen eventually, usually withing 5 minutes of when they were scheduled to stop nursing.

@someone

Creating a Master of any skill requires around 400 successes after reaching Adept level. I have noticed that healing sick people consumes less time than studying plants. If you want more sick people to heal, try this:

Make a stew with the herbs Black+Black+Brown. It makes anybody who eats it very ill. You can also try letting your fire go out, although that runs the risk of killing villagers while you're away from the game.

One other thing you can try to build a better Doc:

Build the hospital. Villagers can study medicine there, just like they study science at the research bench.

Hey, I bought the Level 2 Culture Tech, but where's the foundation?

What should I do with the vial drink it or through it out???? Answer fast please

I have the third virtual villagers game(Secret city) before i knew about the fourth game and I loved it. Im playing it as i speak. Im thinking about buying ALL the others for Christmas. :)

how do you get rid of the stew???

thanx

So, how do you win this game? Simply solving all of the puzzles does not let you find out who Tofu is, or what happened to the other adults on the island.

TNguyen- Once you've uncovered the writing on the wall under the vines, you can get a villager to read them an unlimited amount of times. You do that by dragging them onto the wall. It doesn't give an exact answer, but it gives you an idea.

Hey, I have a master farmer and level two engineering but everytime I take my farmer to the roots to make the scarecrow he says he's confused. What do I do?

I purchased culture 2 but never got a foundation

How can I save my village? I only have one person left and it's a male. Is there anything I can do to save my village?

I am at 40 in my village and it will not let me get more. Why? I have all level 3's just not science level 2 there, help I want a bigger village how do I make more huts?

Keata!!! I'm having the exact same problem and I don't have any children in the game and I've reached my population limit so I can't pick up collectibles and I don't know what to do! Did you figure it out??

John -

Have you built the dam and created the farmland yet?

Joey Yang -

Which foundation are you looking for?

JIGuest -

If you are down to one villager, you can hope for a miracle in the form of the island events like a barrel of babies. Otherwise, your village is doomed.

Keata -

Are you playing on a computer or on an i-phone?

Yo ^_^ Does anyone know how to train an adept builder when all my huts are finished, I cut all the thorns, and built the dam? Thanks!

What happens when you bang the gong for the first time???

i have algae in the ocean now and it says that i need to find fish that will eat it. where do i find this fish?? please help me!

My ocean has fungus in it! Help me!

IM OUT OF FOOD!!! I have ALL my adult villagers fishing yet I cant get past -2 food!PLEASE HELP!
