Thanks ChristiRose! I can be patient and wait if I know something cool is coming! This is my tribe that went down to two people (fortunately a male and a female) and is now up to 28.

Yeah, there's a little information for you: don't leave a male on "Parenting" skills in hopes of upping his skill...he just gets everyone pregnant! I went away for a short while and he had gotten 9 females pregnant! OUCH!

Reply

Toriano, what's your population like? I didn't get to open that box till my first generation are almost all around the age of 60.

I'm at my third or fourth generation now.... Food's not a problem for me anymore cuz the algae has been cleared....

Unfortunately, the only things (at least, that I know of) you can do to build up the Building skill is:

Building the second hut in Isola. Restoring that hut on the corner bottom left of the screen. Clearing the vines (prerequisite being that you have to have spears made). Building a sewing hut (prerequisite being Level 2 in Culture and Science). And clearing the vines on the center right screen.

Reply
ChristiRose February 23, 2007 1:21 AM

Toriano - One of the ways to increase a builder's level is to drag them to a hut, it will say 'examining hut. fixing hut.' He or she should then improve in construction. This is kind of a slow process if your villager is not very close but it will definitely help improve him or her especially if you have all of the buildings/puzzles solved.

Hey there.
Where can I find the 4th piece of the gong?

Thank you

Reply

I've only done the 1, 2, 3 and 5 puzzles. Can anyone help me out with the rest? Thanks

Has anyone else had any problems with the village being "stuck"...my people are still working and farming, ect...but no one is aging!! My only child is 6 and he's been six for four days straight now...and I leave the game on 24/7! Also..when I go away..none of the tech points or food accumulate?? I have to actually have the game up and running? I've started a new tribe and this one is not doing that, so what's going on?

Reply

Nickel...do you have it on 1/2 time?

Has anyone seen anything significant happening to your tribe after the gong is in place and the villagers bang on it?

Reply

I think I made one of my villagers drop the cauldron quite a while ago, so I can't make stews. Does anyone know if there will be another opportunity to get it?????

Reply
ChristiRose February 23, 2007 4:58 PM

Maya - Which three pieces do you have currently?

Nickel - They have a patch coming out soon to fix that problem. I would suggest going to the makers site and leave a detailed post on the forums about that and they will be more than willing to help you plus it helps them know exactly what is going wrong.

Doc - I have banged the gong several times and watch the forums at LDW
Here are some of the things that have happened

villager instantly becomes master at whichever preference you have him/her set at. Grants technology. Takes Techonolgy. Takes life. Gives Life! Grants Food. Takes Food. Grants Luck. (I'm not sure if it takes luck, haven't heard/had that one yet.)Grants health and then of course - takes health.

Hope that helps!

Elinor - If your villager drops anything big (i.e. gong piece or cauldron) close out your game and reopen and it will be back where you found it.

Reply

ChristiRose...

Of those "prizes" bestowed upon the villagers for banging the gong...do I get informed?? Should I keep notice???

I finally got the gong all together. Can't say it was as thrilling as the algae-eating fish, but they can't all be super-mega fabulous!

Reply

I don't understand what everyone is talking about stews what is that all about?

Reply
ChristiRose February 24, 2007 1:07 AM

VirtuaMe - haha, yeah those 'prizes' sure are great! lol. When you bring the villager up to the to ring it, don't click on anything else, keep that particular villager selected. A message will appear below the runner and what his task currently is. It will pretty much tell you what has happened. A tip for ringing, always find a villager that does not have much tech in a specific area, and select it. That way if the gong grants wisdom, he or she will automatically become a master at that particular skill. This is really helpful with building elders.

Erin - the stews are part of a puzzle. I apologize as I forget this sometimes and have forgotten to put it into spoiler tags. Part of solving this puzzle is having certain tech levels and observing parts of the island.

I built farming first also, but did not get the algea until I "overfished" the ocean. Now I think I may need something from the pond, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. I am pretty close to checking out the walkthrough! LOL

hi all i have solved all the puzzles have all tech levels have a steady number of 95 villagers and enuf food and tech points to keep them in food for life!!!! yet i cant seem to make triplets and i still havent had all the collections cept for the butterflies game has been going for over 100 hours lol
help!!!!

Reply

jools, If you want the cauldron...

you have to purchase the 2nd exploration tech pts. Then you need to look at the driftwood pile. The recipes are a combination of the six herbs around the island.

Reply

Jools -

You need level 2 exploration to find the cauldron. it will be "hidden" but not really hard to find. You need an adult to rescue it, the kids just walk on by.

Suggestion for making stew....keep a record of the combinations you have tried that way you know what works and what turns into stinky green glop! I actually killed a villager because her health was so low and I thought I was making one of those "your villager feels healthier after eating the stew". Oops!

Christi - i got an instant professional doctor! It would have been great if she wasn't already an elder, but i liked it! next time, someone without much skill!!

Happy Playing Folks!

Reply

Question...
how many different types of totems are there? I have two settings..one has 4 of the green guys and then 2 others. The other setting has like 5 different ones. Just curious.

Reply

I have like four or five different colored, different looking totems....

Anyway.... I've completed all the puzzles.... and now I feel kind of bored lol.... I can't support more population so I've not been able to get triplets. Twins though!

Reply

Jools, what was the stew recipe you did to get an instant doctor?

Reply

I have solved all the puzzles and rang the gong once..but it said has to power up for 24hrs..is that real time? i cant get anyone else to ring the gong?

Reply

I read somewhere, I think the LDW website, that you could bang the gong every hour on the hour but I have noticed that I can only bang it once in a 24 hour period...my time. I did just get "youth granted" so I guess it was worth waiting for!

Reply

If you dont know how to get the gong piece underwater in the pond...

Here is a great recipe, a black herb by the waterfall, and two orange herbs at the south end of the village. You then may proceed to drop them in the pond and they will hold there breath and retrieve the gong piece.

hope that helps -Zach

Reply

If your food is low and you have either coconuts or see a mushroom...

For coconuts: In order to pause hit the space bar once, drag and place all your adult villagers on the coconut trees then unpause by clicking your space bar again!
For mushrooms: Same rule applies except use children instead of adults.

Hope it helps - Zach :)

Laurie,

If you follow the recipe here, it will make a stew that will completely restore your villager. No one gets anymore skills, but you can make it as long as you have a cauldron and 10 points of food.

pick the light purple-blue flower at the top of the cemetary TWICE and one orange bloom from the bottom of the map.

The briars and vines are Building skills....

I try to keep the people pretty equal in their skills, so no one is a master in farming and without other skills. usually they get half way then I switch them. when a new building option comes up, i get the younger villagers to work on that, hoping to make them masters. Also....not too many at a time.

Ooops! My last post posted twice last night. Sorry all.
Mickey - A hint about the collectibles. They seem to appear in 'threes'. This is really helpful if you dont like being glued and scanning for them. If you have one appear, have a child collect it and within a minute another should appear. I have had them come in three's and in some, fours. Good luck! Also, having high levels of exploration is very helpful with the frequency. About the elders. I keep my villagers at one skill until they master it. Then I will change it. For the women I put them on research until they are old enough to breed. I then make them master parents and put them on research. Little known fact about researching - research is harmful to your villagers. They get hurt and sick easier. This happens to researchers and builders - harzards of the job :D . After I have the women at master parent and scientist I then make them mast at farming. This seems to work well for me. For the men I tend to go to the levels of researching, building/parenting (only a couple on each) and then researching. This has worked pretty for them but I adjust naturally to likes and dislikes and the way the village is running. Good Luck.

I want someone else to laugh with me about this...this is like a soap opera on my island. I have a villager who had a set of twins, and I went back to see what they looked like as they got older. I had checked on this game before by checking the age compared to who the mother was. I don't have two mothers with the same name, but one twin has a father, and the other twin is listed as "Daughter of ?", But there is a picture of a villager there, who I don't recognize. I am assuming this is a glitch, anyone else got this to happen yet?

That's good Zach! Have you got the one where they start embracing?? No babymaking, just embracing!

Tetedes ~

Puzzle 5 is the examination of various flowers around the island. you don't need any extra skills for this, it can actually be done at the start of the game. There are 6 flowers around the island...just keep moving someone around checking it out.

Puzzle 6 automatically happens when you have a villager master 3 different skills. Look at ChrisiRose's post a few above this for some clever ideas on how to make that happen. It takes time, but they do through a great party when it happens!

Good LUCK!

Puzzle 11 is the Hospital. You need high levels of Medical and Engineering. Then the foundation just pops up!

The LDW website has a walk thru page. They tell you all sorts of details. Of course, they just give the info, they aren't chatty about it or anything!

Scarlet and squeekz - You need to solve another puzzle for this. It requires a level two of a tech. If you explore your village you will see fertile soil and a very narrow stream.

You need to build a dam to divert the water thus irrigating the fertile soil. you will then be able to farm. However to get rid of the algae you will need to solve yet another puzzle.

Zach - the stew is Orange blossom twice and one Red. Like I said, it just makes them "embrace", nothing special.

So question for those of us with totems... what do you do with them? At first I left them where they sprouted, but that was too chaotic. Now I have them circling the cemetary but that's getting crowded. I was thinking about doing an Easter Island sort of thing and have them all look out to the ocean, but I can't turn them.

I am stuck trying to find the last sea shell in the collection, I have all the pebbles and all the butterflies, just started collecting the beetles, but can't seem to find the last sea shell needed to complete that collection. Any suggestions?

I got three out of 4 gong pieces, the one in the bottom of the pond, the one in the cave, and the one in the crate on the beach, can't locate last piece.

To bring health of a villager up I did:

Start stew, add the herb by the coconut trees, add the herb by the cave, and add the orange herb by the sewing hut. Keep putting weak villagers to eat stew and it will make them healthy. It is time consuming for those that are really weak.

This game is way harder then than the first VV as far as farming and keeping food to keep villagers alive. Do NOT time cheat- you loose more than you gain. Isn't worth it.
Good luck everyone!

Last gong you need

take a totem and put it in the middle of the ancient flooring...something will magically appear.

Yes, I too think this is way harder. There are several things I just couldn't do without help! It's fun, but you need a friend!
Another good stew

take one orange flower and 2 of the lavendar-grey ones from the cemetary...it says "your villager have been completely restored!" Much faster than the gained health ones, but sometimes you need to put a person on twice

ALGEA....this comes with third level farming, I'm sorry to say. You will just need to struggle though and get those kids to find mushrooms! The red top mushromms are worth significantly more food points, so keep an eye open for those!

Hang in there! It's just a game and it's all worth it!

I am upset and confused about stews... I take my villager to a plant and they collect it and then they start walking toward the cauldron and then disappear and start doing something else. I clicked on the cauldron and it says I need 3 more ingredients. What do I do? I need details, thanks.

Reply

LONS - yes, you do need to have higher tech.

You need level 3 engineering and level 3 culture. You need the floor cleared then you can see the center where they want the totem.

Amber - you should be able to make stews once you find the cauldron and research the herbs. If you pick up the villager before he/she returns with the herb, it will disturb them and they will forget. If you keep having trouble, exit the game and try again. It should work!
