Hi Anders, I was very impressed by the game, it's quite unique and fun (sometimes scary) to play... Thanks a lot!!
Fortunately I did not need any help to solve the entire game (of course I was stuck in several locations though but I never imagined there could be many hints here :)), I'm still wondering about
the math-torture scene... As some comments above refer, is he Mike? Isn't he any other nameless kid, because for me his body's colour seemed to be different from Mike in the video scenes.. I thought it's from the Mother's past experience (as she used to work a math-tutor , but then she was actually was a math-toturer?!) and her way of teaching math scared Laura so much that the scene was stuck in her memory with kinda traumatic manner, etc...
But then who he was supposed to be actually?
And isn't there any way to make him free in the puzzle? It's the only part I did not like in the game...

Okay, I feel really stupid. All I have is the mirror. I haven't opened any gateways. I read a comment about the way it shines under the light in the hallway, but what do I do with it?? Jay or anyone, PLEASE HELP!!!
p.s. My computer teacher told us about the first game, and I LOVED IT!! Except for the boring ending. Well, I searched to see if there was a next one, and here it was!! but I still don't know what to do now!!
Okay, I got past the first gateway without anyone's help(It hadn't even been posted yet), but now I'm stuck in the room with the locked door(the second gateway). jan.jan? u are good at hints, could u help? I just need to know what to do next.
Oh, and for those of you who are still stuck in the first gateway,
1. duh, go through the first gateway.
2. press the button and go into the bathroom.
3. Grab the mirror on the counter.
4. click the sink.
5. turn on the hot water and wait.
6. look at the mirror and there will be a code. Come on! I won't tell you the code!! It is too easy to figure out!
7. enter the code into the keypad.
8. grab the video tape.
9. go out and there will be a yellow dude staring at you. He will go out and if you go near the door, an eye will apear.
10. stand in the light. do you notice that your mirror is shining? take it out and shine it in the eye.
11. enter the gateway.
12. click the t.v. and insert the video tape.
13. click transfer and view the first, then second screen.
14. click to keep the text going. when you exit the t.v., there will be a new gateway open.
15. go through the new gateway.
16. figure out your own stratagy in getting across the room, all I can do to help is to tell you that you need all the squares to not be bright to go into either door, so, yes, you have to do that when you go back, too.
17. when you get into the room, pick up the newspaper and lighter off the table, and then open the drawer in the top left corner and pick up the screw driver.
18. notice the painting. look at it. it has pyramids with the numbers 7, 8, 6.
That is all I know. Anyone know what to do after that?
Bug on sprinkler level:
The first time I did the sprinkler level, the far door refused to open when the sprinkler came on. I tried redoing this part again and again, but the door just kept opening and closing before I could go through it. I restarted the game and played it all over until that part, and only then did the far door stay open.

ive never played this game and can someone get me started...i just started in the room with a blurry tv and a door to your left leading you to a bathroom. I feel like an idiot, but just some advice to get started.

You might like to go and do the original Gateway first. Its a good training ground for this one. Having said that, how far have you got?

What do i have to do after the eye? (with the first tape)
help plz i am at the beginning.....i get the video tape, and turned of the eye.....
now i am in the room with the TV...how do i turn it on?
For the room with the pyramid painting
pick up the lighter and the newspaper,then you open the drawer on the top left side of the room and take the screwdriver.After that you use the newspaper with the door and your guy will slip it under the door
then use the screwdriver with the door and the key on the other side will drop onto the newspaper,you take the newspaperback in and you get the Key.

I know it's been asked before, but where exactly do I click to get the second tape?
Is it on or is it outside of the dark tile at the end of the path? Is it near one of the corners? I feel like I've clicked everywhere on the tile and off it, and I've gotten nothing.

Hey, does anyone know why as I go through the 4th gateway it doesn't load past 38%? It stops every time. If someone knows how to get around this please tell me as I've been doing the game again and again for days, and still each time it freezes on the loading at 38% and I'm starting to get really frustrated to put it politely!!
lamby - it sounds like the next file you need may have been interrupted during its initial download, and now your browser continues to fetch the incomplete one from its cache instead of downloading the full and correct one.
To rectify this, just empty your browser cache and reload the page with the game on it. It should download the game again for you.

Do you remember what you heard once you dialed the first phone? The piece of paper next to the second phone gives you a clue as to which buttons to push once you hear the breathing.

Blink 3 times, and then scribble the whole bottom half that is torn off to get:
Blink 3 times before
Call and the number.
That should put you on the right track! The lamp isn't there just to look pretty you know...
omg great game! i have played this game eleventeen times! I LOVE IT! here's MY interpretation...am i close?
well, i think that the clips of the videos represents laura's memories and thoughts and they are all mixed up and thats why she feels guilty but when you put them all together in the right order she realizes that she isnt so her mind is like a video. because thats all she sees because her mother has manipulated her so much into believing that its her fault. and mike. he is her guide. he tries to help her see that it isnt her fault but her mom keeps manipulating her into not seeing him because she knows he is right. now the gray robot. he is just the guy who helps laura realize this.

I absolutely loved this game. The storyline made it much more interesting and the ending was absolutely emotional. All through this game I kept wanting to find out more. I'd love to see more games like this with interesting storylines.
Good game. Both Gateway I and II. I had to cheat a little but when I saw what I had to do it was like "Duh!"

Can any one help me with the first phone? I have been reading other comments but i still don't get it i have dialled the number but nothing happens i have done the lamp can someone help please :-( !!!
After watching the 1st tape, you enter the gateway and then I see a platform with changing bright-red color to get to the other side.....??/ :( I'm stuck here... how do you do it. I can't figure out how to make all of the platform to go unbright-red again. What's the strategy for this???? Please help!!!! I'm dying to get through this obstacle.... Please guys...
ARGH! Please help. I'm pretty far, so i'm putting my question in a spoiler box:
Am at the last few stages (no help!) but i am totally stuck ... and confused.
At phone 2: i tried 7-7-8-8-6-6-7-7 over and over again matching the tones with what was on the paper and it never worked. On a whim, i tried 44556644 and it worked. That confuses me, but at least the door opened.
Now i am in the living room with the 2nd TV, but all the channels are the same test pattern and nothing else in the room. I've gone back to the main hub, but can't do anything there either.
Have i missed something???

Do you remember seeing a picture in another room similar to the picture in the room that you are stuck on? There is a major difference in the two pictures, though.

So, when the sprinkler turns on the door opens or the alarm goes off. Just put in the code (blue, purple, yellow, green, red, orange
) and then use the lighter underneath the sprinkler!

That was the best storylines I've ever seen in a game. Everyone has to play this, even just for the story. The ending almost made me cry (ALMOST!). In short:
BEST. WEB. GAME. EVER.
P.S. We need a Gateway III!
In the math scene you can
just hit reset instead of shocking him until he gets the answer right.
I don't know if anyone else realizes that.

How do I get past the Sprinkler room? I did the phone in the room before, and went in and set off the alarm. When the door didn't open, I entered the code. Nothing. Please help.

When you put the lighter under the sprinkler the sprinkler should start and the right-hand door should open. If it doesn't you must have found a glitch, the same one that I have found previously. Just reload it I guess.

Well i'm new to all this, but i'm stuck in the TV room. (yes, the first one)
how do you get through the kitchen door where the huge eyes are watching? hiding near the fridge did nothing? how do i get out?

Please, someone help me, im in the part you have to get the 3rd video tape, but when i get it, the door locks and an eye stays looking at me. What do I have to do?

Did anyone notice? The TV in the main room can play videos throughout the game without being connected to the power :D

The cable on the floor isn't a power cable. The TV probably has another source of power.

The game is great!! Takes a bit of time to figure it out and some area the only way was reading the hints.
like the blinking ... Good one!! However I'm stuck made to through the last gateway and got to the room with the book shelves and Tv with test signal screens and in clip 6 I see that laura's mom walks thru a door where the picture of the 3 prymids are. I cannot get in there or figure how to get to where Laura is dead as the hints state. Help from here???

In the room where you collected the newspaper and lighter etc there was a picture on the wall similar to the picture in the room with the bookshelves. That picture tells you what to do with the TV.

Thanks for the spooler... it helped did think to try it backwards .. and figured out the sequence of clips 264 379 851 Thanks again it finally about time there a game out there with meaning ... and that has an ending that you just don't score the highest score or kill everything ...I look foward to see more..

Hello... I've read all the clues,and am still stuck at the second telephone. I've looked through the telescope yes, and I thought I new what the dots on the notepad meant (in relation to the tone) but it doesn't seem to be working. Help please?
Oh - nevermind about my last comment. Got past the second phone part. For the second phone part, someone should've mentioned by now ...
... that we need to look through the telescope more than once to get what we need. :)

Gateway II was only just released. Anders has mentioned in a previous comment not to expect Gateway III anytime soon.

How to get across the Red Bridge of Frustration...
If you turn off all the squares, the door opens.
When you step on a square it toggles it on or off. Also, one other square gets toggled, and it's always the same one. Using this chart, you have complete control over changing the squares.
1 toggles 5
2 toggles 4
3 toggles 6
4 toggles 6
5 toggles 2
6 toggles 5
The end squares (1 and 6) matter the most since they are your last step to turn off all the squares. Notice nothing toggles square 1 or 3 except by stepping on them. Square six gets toggled by both 3 and 4.
I always start by walking all the way to the other end, and then work backward to toggle squares until you have the correct pattern to step on the end square to turn them all off.
