Ughhh.... I have been on the kitchen eyes for like 30 minutes already, I have read everyones comments, AND I STILL cant figure it out :( Someone PLEASE Help me!!!
Never mind ke ke ke, I read some other comments and a dude posted a comment saying
I hid from the eyes in the kitchen
And i figured it out yay for me!
Fun! Much more involved the usual 'escape' game. A few things detracted from the experience a bit, like:
1. The ambiguity as to whether the characters actually had gender, or were (genderless) robots.
Also, whether or not they are living or simply animiatronic is important -- Especially in the mother's suicide and attack of sorts on the girl.
Might be harder to animate more human-like figures, but the boxy and emotionless aesthetic of the characters makes it difficult to get into the very emotional storyline.
2. The lack of connection between the storyline and the puzzle rooms. I mean, I understand the gateways may act as portals that teleport you between locations that are shown in the storyline, this coincides with the robot-like look of the characters.
It's the dream-like giant eyes, shock-therapy patient, and color-coded fire alarms that don't fit in, and have no explanation.
Perhaps the puzzles could have been presented in such a way that they blended into the character's actual/usual environment.
3. What ever happened to Mike?
Great puzzle play, lots of fun. Thanks for putting all your time into it!
Ingenius puzzles, beautiful emotional blending, magnificent game concept-- I honestly think this could be a future hit on a major gaming console.

Wow. That game was tons of fun, very thought provoking, and def. sequel worthy. The ending was actually quite beautiful in a tragic way. Great job, Anders!
sweet game. This could be a cool full version game with like a bunch of series like this. Sort of like psychonauts where you go inside peoples minds to try and help them. Maybe the third one could be like that where you have to enter like 3 or 4 different people's "mental prisons" and help them so that you can solve a bigger puzzle outside of the people's minds. Just an idea. Also, maybe think of adding a save feature if you make a game like that.
Gateway I and II both already has a save feature. Click the "G" up in the top right corner of the game window to bring up the Game menu.

Benny,
1) Estetically speaking, I think the ambiguity people/robots makes the game more disturbing.
2) Except for the fire alarm puzzle, which is part of a clip I had to cut, there's very much a connection between the storyline and the puzzle rooms. Some previous commenters have pointed this out and made their own interpretations.
3) What happens to Mike is explained in the game.
I have the mirror and the unconnected TV wire. I'm stuck. I tried everything I could possibly think of.
I don't know how to get past the second room where you get the screwdriver, newspaper, and lighter
Whitch colors open alarm???

Ok super cool game but I am in the very last level, the very last room, with the stupid tv that is blank, whats up? I need some help, do you have to push a certain set of numbers on the tv to get a movie or something?
Dazed - you're on the right track. You should notice something in the room that looks very familiar to something you saw in a previous room. You'll need the information from that previous room to get you further from here.

"scribble" for the phone part. I "scribbled" and then put the number from the painting in the phone, but all I have so far is a lamp that is stuck on. Oh, and I noticed something white blinking above the table after I turned the lamp on and off
J - you're on the right track, but
the numbers you've entered don't comprise a telephone number. I think you need to scribble some more :)

GREAT GAME!
Really..just great, I found it very entertaining and I'm the type that stops playing a game if it tends to get to tough.
if you're stuck at the end when you've got all 9 fragments:
at the very end..it took me a while to realise to put the wire into the hole of the neck (very important ;-) ) and then dial a code on her chest.
Hint for final code?
look at the date of every fragment from one to ten (and ofcourse look at the storyline)

Found a Bug
In the kitchen, if you go to the menu and switch the color setting to greyscale, the door will open. Dont know why, but i just thought you might want to know about it!

in the first video, the one where the girl is sitting down depressed, her dad talks to someone out of shot. The dots are gray, like your character, so its like you have gone inside the girls mind, after her dad left, to try and find out why she is like this. But the whole thing
is soooooooooo randomly cool! I love it, conspiracy is my favourate genre so this game fits right in. Hopefully the next one will explain why the mother is so strainge

To get past the eye,you have to stand under the lamp and left click and hold the shiny
mirror to the eye and the boxman will reflect the light(i also got stuck there for a while)

To get past the math and shocker scene,
Do not add the numbers on the wall together. Each number is a seperate number. you need to find two different number that when added together make that number. It cannot end in a zero.

In my review I was obviously referring to the Torture Scene. My only real comment about that was that though the scene was a bit disturbing, I was MORE disturbed by the fact that it never occurred to me NOT to zap the poor guy than I was by the scene itself. It never even occurred to me. What does that say about me?

The comments imply there is a tape at the end of the dark pathway...where on earth is it? I get to the end and can't find anything along the path no matter where I look.
i really like the game but the cut scenes are too long and are really cliched. it just felt too much like one of those afternoon movies for teenagers. the dialogue was too long and cumbersome. spent more time watching the videos than playing the game.

Fan-freaking-TASTIC game, Anders. I gotta say, you definitely did the screams right in the tourture scene...chills me to the bone...Anyways, I hope to see more of this series in the future. Keep up the good work!
This is so annoying.
Ok, so I'm at the "torture" scene I guess, and I can't get this dude to type in the right numbers.
24+79=163, right? Right? This dude keeps coming up with lame answers like 103 and 102 and 104 and...well, that's it! Just those 3 numbers! Did I miss something? How many times exactly do I need to zap this dude before he gets it through his thick head that the answer he's getting isn't right!? I tried holding the button for a continuous stream of pain, but it ain't working. Am I overthinking this?
Xion - forgive me for laughing, but I was on the floor after reading your comment. Please tell me you were deliberately making a joke. =D
If not,
get a calculator and add those numbers up (24+79) and then snap a picture of the horror on your face when you realize the boy was adding them correctly.
Think of those numbers above the doorway not as addends, but as sums.

McFly: when you get to the part where Laura's "dead", there are a couple of steps to take:
You see she's lying there, and there are no other items to use. Or are there? See if you can on anything on the main screen
See the cord from the TV? Pick it up.
Where could you plug it in?
Laura-bot has an outlet on her neck...
Pick up the plug, insert it into Laura's outlet, and her "face" will become a video screen
If you're at the part where something has changed on the Laura-bot...
Notice what happens when you click on the buttons. What order are they in?
Compare them to the order on the big TV.
Yes, they're in the same order, so the sequence you need is NOT the same as on the TV.
You need to put them into "real-life" (or "real-time") order.
the sequence is 264 379 851
reapaninja, the rainbow isn't very clear. The colours all look a little off. Although they look like
purple, burgandy/pinkish, yellow-green, lime green, red, salmon-ish
It's not your screen, it's just the way it looks in the game. The actual colour order is supposed to be
blue, purple, yellow, green, red, orange

Clearly playing this game has made some of the people to put their soul into it. You need to add an option for "non violent" version where people can award the "guinea big" instead ;)
And here is my interpretation:
I imagined that this was like in Truddi Chace's book "When Rabbit Howls". Mum, Mike and Laura were actually three different sides of the same person. The person just had to decide who of those three should dominate.

For the color code on the alarm system it's really simple if you just
put it in greyscale. It even tells you it helps for color codes. then just put the alarm from darkest to lightest shade of gray
You know, I can't get past the part where...
You just leave the living room into the pitch black area.

When I started using the walkthrough all the way up to the first phone, I refused to look at the answers and I started figuring it out by my self...except I needed help with the alarm code, the second phone, and the torture scene.

For the second phone:
I get (and rather like) the fact that I'm playing out the other side of the phone conversation. So, I've 'blinked' and gotten the phone ringing. And as I remember from being the girl, Mike is supposed to send the door opening code to me, which I vaguely remember as being a bunch of double-beeps. Like the note on the pad! Hmm... Now, 147, 258, and 369 are all the same sound, which makes things less easy. I want to connect this with the painting of the great pyramids, since those numbers match perfectly with the low/med/high, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
And that's where I'm at. :)
...and I would have sworn that was the first thing I tried, but now it works.
Maybe you need to hang up right after you punch the numbers in?
Anyhow, nevermind!

As for Gateway III, well, one day I'll probably muster the energy to sit down and do it. It won't be anytime soon though, as Gateway II left me drained and whimpering.
