I have a serious complaint about level 8, and the answer, for those with the same complaint.

The level answer is in the second spoiler block.

The first spoiler block only implicitly tells you what to do on the level.

Having to reset your system clock is too much to ask for a lot of people. On the Linux box I normally run things on (yes, even Flash toys), it runs ntp and continuously self-synchronizes. It's a bit of effort to shut that down, but I did it, and changed the clock, and roomz didn't detect it.
On Win2K, I normally browse in a low-privilege user account, as an extra layer of defense against malware. This account can't change the clock, and I can't just open an administrator session as in OS/X or Unix-like systems -- I have to run the whole session, browser and flash game, as administrator.
This means my browser is running as adminstrator, which I really, really don't like to do (except for Windows Updates, of course...). I confess, I actually wondered if this was a ploy to get malware on to my system through some previously unknown SWF/Flash vulnerability. Luckily for me, none of my systems needs to synchronize with a file server or network time source, so I was able to switch to administrator and change the time.
No malware snuck in, as far as I can tell.
But I shouldn't have had to do that. This is akin to asking me to open a firewall port or use alternate DNS or something. Games really, really, really shouldn't do this.

The magic word is...

...delay.

Frankly, I'm kind of disappointed in JayIs and the posters here. When we started playing the game on Nordinho, the authors requested that we not give away too much, not make things "too spoily." We abided by that request. But here on JayIs, level codes are simply being handed out. :(

i agree with christine that the passwords should not be just handed out. i have spent a lot of frustrating time figuring out these levels, and there may have been times that i wished i could just get the code and move on (*coughlevel17cough*). regardless of that, it really makes these games pointless when the answers are given like that.

though i don't blame jayis, it might be a good idea to delete those posts. for the sake of the puzzle :)

I agree with Urban Garlic. I was not happy about resetting my pc so many times. The rooms that might require simple google hints or going to another site are alright,even fun, however I dont like changing my computer settings.

I know I am going to run into trouble in the higher number rooms, as my math skills are seriously lacking, however, as long as I can rely on decent hints, I might possibly prevail. Many thanks to Ronaynay for the hints. If anyone has been to the game forum, then you know spoilers are forbidden there. I found it (the forum) to be not all that helpful to those asking for a simple hint. Personally I have trouble finding the right wording to ask the HS for a message/hint. Its very disgruntling to have to type the correct word before getting a nudge in the right direction. Ah well, I shall plod onward.

If you would care to scroll up, I said almost the same thing about the forum. In any case, I've finished the room 15. You must use your converted word against the grid of letters..remembering to ignore the purple and all of the 0's. Hope this helps

No,no ...dont give up. read the first letter of each sentence going down..that is the word to convert. After converting EACH letter of the word.. compare the 8 digit code for each letter against each sentence.Example:

B=01000010 mentally lay this on top of the first sentence...remember to ignore anything in the blue area and all of the 0's. your first two letters will be M and U. Continue with the letter I=01001001 on the next sentence.

Stuck on level twenty now, but I feel like I'm very close. Here's what I know.

HS system:

I can get nothing out of the HS system.

Picture:

I know which background goes with which level, and so I have a number for the levels, except 4, 5, 8, 12, 15, and 18, whose backgrounds are not in the picture.

I can get a sequence of letters by, for each level, taking the letter from that level's exit code corresponding to the number on that level's background in the picture in level 20.
I get SNL AR DRT EO MT E.

Locker:

I have noticed that the "locker" displays a different letter than you click. This makes a mapping from letters to letters, which can be applied to the sequence I got before, either forward or reverse. Now I get TDQ RA ZAM LX IM L, or IZE RA NAS BJ TS B.

My question:

Atomic --

There are hints for lvl 18 in the older messages, I needed lots of help there.

Most useful: (multiple nested spoilers coming up...)

Each picture has a name -- when you type the name into the HS system, the picture responds. Figure out all the names.

The names form a chain, starting from the arrow. Each name has a relationship to the next name in the sequence.

Each name starts with the last letter of the previous name. String together all these "joining" letters to get another clue, and put that in the HS system.

you need to make a graph 5 x 25 as it tells you in the corner

you will notice there is 5 lines of numbers

use them as co-ordinates

for example the first one you would plot at row space 1,2

Stuck on 23 also.

Decoding the drips is the first step.

The next step is to do what the poor fellow asks.

This one took me a while.
You have to type "help" into the HS system.
I wasted a lot of time on variations, "help him", "help pipe", etc, but didn't think of the easy thing.

I'm stuck at a later step...

I decoded the runes, and typed in the name of the one they describe.

And I found futhark.com, which uses the odd spelling "Odhinn", and I know the names of the nine worlds, but I can't figure out which four have "a secret".

I am using the futhark.com spellings.

Exactly four world names have the letter 's', and exactly four have the letter 'l'. Exactly four have the string "heimr". Not the same four in any of the three cases, of course. I can't make a sensible word out of heimrls, so I guess this is perhaps the wrong track?
