OK, I have played the 300/300/30 level of this game for 12 hours straight now, and I was able to satisfy the requirements on the first shot by saving as soon as I had the resources. However, I could never obtain the money that the bandit wants 1000 gold I believe. The minimum number of bridges to purchase is 3 - 1 to get to the saloon, 1 to get to the Trading post and 1 to get to the treasure chest island that has 300 gold. There are no gold sources on the map that I can see, and although I had the "resources" to purchase a GOLD MINE, it wouldn't let me plant one, is that because the mine covers the source where the mining camp is placed?
Also, why can't I harvest the woods that are near the first run down cabin that you come across? A mining Camp won't reach and a lumber mill doesn't seem to reach either. But I didn't think a lumber mill needed to be close to the lumber it is harvesting -- am I incorrect in this assumption? If not, then why won't it harvest? That is the only way I can figure to make the gold to get to the next level -- so that the wood can be sold for the gold. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP I'm sooo frustrated.

Any recommendations and/or Tips would be GREATLY appreaciated.

THANKS

for dude:
to access to the pavillion in paradise falls you need to go south of the elevated part. there are to pieces of fence (like a kind of entrance) place a dinamite there between the two fences near the dirt. The explosion opens a way to the pavillion.

Hi Everyone! I've been playing westward for the last 4 days and I'm an addict. I'm stuck on the section where you have to get the posse back together. I found the horseshoes and killed the chickens. I have no idea how to acquire the 50 chords of wood. Could someone give me some direction please? Thanks1

Hello all, possible

Okay, I finally got past that 300/300/30. All I did was the bare minimum. I did fix up more than I had to and let people go homeless and hungry (probably the wrong way to pass this level but it worked) - I eventually collected enough money for the bandit and that was it...onto the next chapter. Hope this helps anyone who is stuck. Cheers!

Okay, I'm not the only one stuck on the level where you have to gather 30 food, 300 wood, 300 gold. I cannot beat this level. I've tried over and over again! I've tried different tactics, but none of them work. I'm so lost, pleeez help me, somebody! I can't stand to be stuck in the middle of a game like this. thank you!

Hello again,

Well, I guess I really should check my spelling before posting items. In my previous reveal of the 300/300/30. It should say that I did NOT do more than I had to. Sorry about the previous flub. Cheers!

Heather,
You should be able to find enough gold to build a logging camp in the south. Once you do that fix up the trading post. Then sell some lumber to replenish your gold and food.

Now my question I got past the 300/300/30 however I'm now screwed. I've built two farms and can't keep them fed. I also have built two different lumber camps and still cannot harvest the trees in the southwest corner. Help! Also is there no gold vein at all or am I just missing it? Thanks!

I'm on the Paradise Falls level and all there is left for me to do is to repair and buy the train station - I got all the required gold collected already, but I can't make anyone to start doing the repair. There is also a farm that wasn't built by me and a lonely man standing near to it but I can neither use the farm or destroy it or make the man do anything.

For the solution to the 300/300/30 please see my spoiler for January 26 posted by myself Schmoo. This will get anyone past this level.

Haludek -

In order to get someone to fix the station, you need to drag someone to it - once they are on it they should fix it for you.
The lone man with the farm, you don't do anything with him other than when you first approach him, he will have a question mark that will take you to Stinky Pete.

300/300/300 Paradise Falls/fallen TIPS

This is how I got through this level which I thought was the most difficult.

First thing I did was take my Sherriff and take him to the Southwest corner to "rescue" your deputy. Then I took him North along the west side. Upthere you will find a lumber camp. Select one of your citizens to "fix" the camp.

About the same time you are doing this have one of your citizens explore the area to the Northeast. There you will find a General Store. You will need to buy bridges so that you can reach areas in the center of the map.

Hi All,

I am also stuck in Paradise Falls. I still need to get the bank, (which means I need the town hall too.) No one new has come to town to take over the Blacksmith Shop (which I got by ignoring starving people and just letting gold and lumber increase.)
My problem is that both mines are dead so gold isn't coming quickly anymore. The whole map is open except for the top middle up on a bluff. I can see fences up there and there are two rivers coming down but I can't blow it up and the irrigation tool isn't working there either. Will I find out what's next if I ever get the town hall and bank??

Thanks,

Beth

How do you think I would get to that stage of Paradise Falls if I didn't know that to fix a building I need to drag somebody to it? The problem is that I DO DRAG PEOPLE TO REPAIR IT BUT THEY WON'T DO IT.

Has anyone encountered that problem too?

Finally finished the game, yay! Ending kinda snuck up on me, I was hoping for more. (fingers crossed for Westward 2!) I'm about to start the game again, only got two of the hidden levels the first time, so now I want to try and find the third. In the meantime, if anyone is stuck, I'd be happy to try and answer any questions. allonwyn@yahoo.com I'm on daily, so should be able to give a fairly quick answer. (provided I know the answer that is!) :)

i love this game. i played the trial version forever (which you can do, as long as you never close it lol). i finally broke down and bought it, and i'm having so much fun with it.

for people who are stuck on various levels: save often. whenever you complete a task, save. whenever you start a new level, save. don't go wild building things. only build what you need. if you don't need a saloon, then don't build it. if you don't need a lumber mill, don't build it. that will save a TON on resources. also, even thought it takes a long time, take one of your guys and explore the entire map. there are often resources in hidden places (i found treasure under a tree once).

on most of the maps, i've discovered there are at least 2 mines. i suggest for people who run out of gold: build a mining camp at both places to increase your gold production. as for the lumber, well, sometimes it's hard to get. what i do is when my lumber camp can't reach trees, i destroy it and build a new one. if you're desperate for wood and you can spare them, start destroying buildings. you can often get 10 or 15 wood from each building.

i am stuck in one place: how do i get to the chicken subquest?

I am stuck on Paradise Falls where you defend the bank. I have done everything but this. I have plenty of lawmen so what do I do just wait on bandits to attack. I have been waiting for a while and they only attack in 2's or 3's. What is the deal?

Reply

Apparantly a lot of people are struggling with the 300/300/30 part. I know some people have already given advice on the issue, but I figured I'd tell you what I did anyway.

SHORT VERSION:
Don't fill the barrels until the very end, when you've got bucketloads of money & wood & food. Ignore starving people. Don't build too many bridges (just enough to get to the trading post).

LONGER, DETAILED VERSION:
First I made one of the people find the deputy, then make him and the sherrif defeat the bandits near the abandoned house. Made the sherrif explore for resources, built a lumber camp in the far right down corner of the map. Built a farm to the left of the lumber camp.
Once the trees near the lumber camp are all gone, I deleted the farm and placed a lumber camp where the farm used to be, but as far down as possible (so you can reach more trees). Then rebuilt the farm where the first lumber camp was.
In the meanwhile, also get some people to work at the lumber camp that already existed.

What's VERY IMPORTANT to do is to not build bridges everywhere, and to not fill the barrels with 300/300/30.
Just keep chopping wood & farming.
People starving is okay, just ignore them. But before you spend your money on buildings or whatever, make sure you have access to the trading post.

After a while, you'll have a very large amount of wood (I had wayyy over a 1000). You can then fill the barrels. After that, just keep selling wood until you've got at least 400 gold for the bandit. And build a bridge all the way at the top of the map, so you can reach the saloon.

Note: should you not have enough wood after depleting the trees in the lower right corner and the wood on the right side of the higher ground next to that area, place a bit of TNT on the higher ground so you can build a lumber camp there too. If you still don't have enough wood after that, you've obviously built too many bridges or unnecessary buildings.

Good luck to all those still strugling with it!

AND AS FOR OTHER QUESTIONS:

Cynthia, I'm sorry to say I don't recall exactly where the trading post is, but you can always explore the map, build bridges everywhere until you find the trading post, and then reset the level. It's what I did. ^^

Madinno: the chicken is on the left side of the map, near the upper edge, next to the river. There's a house there, if you click on it you'll have control of the chicken. Cut down the trees surrounding it, make the chicken go to where you found the two people stranded with their wagon (to the right of the lowest gold vein). You'll then get a pop up to "follow the chicken".

Kay: when there's a person (or rabbit) stuck on the roof, they'll be 'free' when you demolish the building they're stuck on. Just make sure the person (or rabbit) stuck on it is worth a demolished building.

Elizabeth: once a gold vein collapses, you can't fix it. It's dead. No more money. Finito. It sucks, I know, but that's Westward. Luckily there's (usually) more than enough wood to trade for gold.

Reply

Laurie Hordesky,
have you done your irrigation tutorial yet? if you have then just buy an irrigation unit from the general store and irrigate the land between the two posts, then you can go up there.

You wont be able to repair the buildings right away.

Hitman,
To sober up drunks you MUST have either a church or a Sheriff's Office (staffed with at least 1 deputy). If you have Law Enforcement (Deputies or Sheriff) drag them over to the drunk you will get a little booze icon and they will take the drunk off to the clink to get sobered up. If you have a church then any citizen can sober up drunks. It works the same as the law enforcement guys doing it but the citizens drag them off to the church.

Mandy,

You must build a mine it is in your list of buildings.

TAMMY,

I had the same problem. Look CAREFULLY around your map. In my case there was just ONE guy left behind (and he wasn't even very close to the bank) I killed him an presto bandits defeated.

Beth,
300/300/30 is a level where in you must put 300 Gold/300 wood/30 food in barrels. play long enough you will get to it.

Shonda,
The Saloon is up north. Irrigate the land between the two posts and explore up north. you will find it.

Allison,
You might have objects in the way. buy TNT and blow them up.

Haludek,
I had the same problem. Turned out I was missing a step. If you have your origional Sheriff just keep playing OR try clicking on the buildings with your arrow. Often your people have not "discovered" a building that is in plain sight after clicking the buildings they will get the bright idea to repair them.

Cynthia,
This bit is the MOST like VV of the whole game (if you have not played Virtual Villagers try it. It is fun!) If you have a lumber mill and the trading post just wait and accrue your money slowly. It takes forever but you will get there.

you will need 400 gold to pay a bandit later so building a logging camp and getting the trading post is worth the time and effort build in the south central part of the map (this will take irrigation and 2 sticks TNT but I think its worth it) destroy your other logging camp (if it can't produce any more wood) and take the lumber just leave the game running and sell off your lumber every 20 min or so. It takes time but you WILL get there. ignore the starving people. Someone new will come along and take their place and keep things going.

a couple of things that were said here but were not clear to me at the time so they bare repeating:
TO PASS LIGTNING BLUFF: You MUST keep your origional Sheriff alive! If he dies you might as well restart. You can not pass the level with out him. EVEN IF YOU GET A NEW SHERIFF.
GETTING TO STINKY PETE'S:

There is a map on the right hand side of the maze, pretty easy to get to find it and all of the black haze goes away

How DO you get the hidden levels? What are they? I would LOVE to replay the game but I would like to know how to find them first.

Hidden Levels:
I found two of them.
The first in Lightening Bluffs (in a Outhouse, in the east part just north of the rail tracks) and the next in Paradise Falls (there is a bluff in the middle of the map, with four red trees and a gazebo in the middle).

What's fun is, MY second hidden level was named the THIRD level by the system. So, obviously, I missed one.

I would like to find that level too. Does anyone know how to find it (or where)?

I finished this game, FINALLY! My family is about to shoot me. The level where you have to gather wood is so stinking hard. Anyway,

the trading post is on an island near the general store. Build a bridge just a little south of the store and it should go across to the island. DON'T click on the Saloon when you find it, it will just suck your gold. Build a Lumber mill with the first resources you gather and then a farm and then you will be able to get allthe money you need to accomplish the 300/300/30 bit and the 400$ for the Good Bandit.

This was the hardest level of them all for sure. Good luck!!

I'm stuck on lightning bluff, for the second time. I think I've pretty much completely finished the level. I did the side task where you defend a small town from bandits until 15 people settle. Then I was sent back to the main map, then my town - lightning bluff.

However, I don't have any tasks left. No exclamation points, no listed tasks. I've defeated a horde of bandits, destroyed and rebuilt the saloon, rebuilt the northern town, found all the treasures, and maxed out my population.

I think my problem has something to do with the mayor. He was kidnapped a while ago, but I never got a message about how to save him. When I make new mayors, they move all around my map. I follow them and after a minute or two, they suddenly turn into drunks! It's very weird. I can make them sober again, but just into ordinary citizens. They are no longer mayors.

I think I might have to restart and not make a mayor? I'm so annoyed!

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

The Sherriffs/Deputies/Gunslingers, sometimes get all their health back after completing a task, or if you wait a while in the game they can also get it back. In the last level, the Sherriffs get there health back by staying at the hotel, the woman will offer it to them only once though.

There was 1 pile (worth 15) to the northwest of the clearing with the lumber camp and then I got 15 more by blowing up the lumber camp. What am I missing???!?!?

Reply

Well, after reading reading so many posts asking for help.....

I have finished the game successfully. So, I will try and answer some of your questions. Throught here. If I miss some of them please forgive.

For the bandit ransom request after the 300/300/30 stockpile: the ransom is 400 gold not 1000. I just kept building up wood and selling that at the trading post till I had enough. Also for this same map...for food/wood/gold...all that. resources are very limited, as you know. I highly suggest investing in an irigation tool and a stick or two of dynamite. In the south central section where there are trees dynamite near the central tree that is in the way. You should then be able to place a lumber yard. You can irrigate near the barrels (on the road) and place a lumber yard there as well). Also, I placed a lumber yard in the SE section as well, and I placed a farm in the very NW section.

I also usually keep my sherriffs out of the fighting as you need to keep them/him alive. I hire gun slingers and only go into fighting when I have enough (I usually send them around to collect wood/gold/food) and sell at trade store and then purchase more (all the maps where you go to fight will allow you to do this at the "enemy" trade stores and saloons. Just tuck your sheriff away, he'll stay where you put him.

I found that if you can get a lumber yard, a trade goods store and a farm going and of course a gold mine, then over time, build up, you'll be good. At least with the trade goods place you can buy food.

Oh, the map to Stinkey Petes is off to the right (SE corner).

Hope this helps some.

I'm at a loss. I have about 20 deputies and 10 sherriffs. I have the max amount of citizens. I can't figure out how to finish the last tasks! HELP PLEASE

I'm on the lightening bluff level. My only taks left is to attract 10 people from the North. I've reached my maximum population (49/49), and have built all the buildings except a blacksmith. I can't build that because I can't get the game to let me build a gold mine anywhere on the map. I've depleted the first gold line, and I found the second one, but there isn't enough room to build around it. I've built tons of farms and ranches and hotels trying to increase my population maximum but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Can someone help please?

Thanks

To all with problems on the 300/300/30 level:

The first thing to do is gather the 30 food and put it in the barrel, don't worry about people going hungry, the first two people that come with the sheriff will never leave even if they are starving. To get the food the best thing to do is to go north with your sheriff. After the food is done head south with the two citizens. The only thing you need to build is a lumber camp, the best place to set it up is in the clearing near the abandoned house. Other than that, destroy everything, you don't anything but the lumber camp and you don't need to build any bridges. After your two citizens are employed at the lumber camp head southwest with the sheriff and find the deputy, use the deputy to scout the rest of the map and only use the sheriff for backup. Once you have the 300/300/30 a bandit will come out and demand 400 gold, if you've destroyed everything and only bought the one lumber camp you should be able to pay him. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

Hello,

I'm at the train part. Everytime I go rescue the conductor the sheriff gets killed. How can I shoot it out with the bandits while keeping him alive?

Could someone help me? I'm having problems keeping the sheriff alive on the train quest. Lots of bandits and only 2 deputies and the sheriff. They get killed before I can rescue the condutor.

Hello all,

I have been playing westward for a few weeks now and I am glad to have found this site. I have a few suggestions. Use Gunslingers whenever possible. They do not comsume any food and they will earn their keep once they have killed a few bandits. I do not waste any money on Deputies (sorry Barney). I keep my Sheriff close to the bank and he is never alone. He always has three gunslingers to keep him company.

If you need to attract more people into your town. Keep building. Make a welcome sign, water towers instead of wells if you don't have some building on the map make room for it and build it. (if you build it, they will come) Keep a water source near by, I have lost a few lone building to fire and slow villagers. To keep going just keep checking your tasks and complete them. Thanks for the Tip to NOT save during your "out of town" adventures, I was stumped on that one.
I did have an issue with a building for those of you with repair problems. The building would not "highlight" if I was touching it. I pointed a little south of the building and it highlighted. I hope that makes sense. There are some great tips on this page. Keep Posting
I was told that there are NO CHEATS for this game.

I am stuck in Paradise Falls. Have done everything, the only black on the map is up north where the river is dammed up and 2 streams are coming out of it. I have been on this map for 3 days and my only task is to watch the bank because bandits are coming...they only come in small groups...I have 5 gunslingers and 20 lawmen. I keep waiting for the last of the bandits, but everytime I kill a group, it still has it listed in the task, how can I move on from this? Please help!

Hi,
I saw your e-mail on a westward forum, I am stuck at tutorial 3, it says to drag the well from the collection of buildings, but even after i set up camp and put the 2 settlers in there, it still doesnt show up in the hammer area, my 2 settlers still have those hands shaking above them, so where would i employ them? i have found all the lumber and gold on the island and the new gold vein as well , so originally i put my camp in the forest where the game starts, but then i moved it down near the vein....

Please help

Anna-

You need to do a sidequest and open up the "irrigation" option in order to go north of the train station. There is a fence there between the cliffs that has a rokcy ledge you can't walk over unless you irrigate it first.

Anna-

Also, the old man is found to the east, use the train tracks bridge. Finally, you need to find the old man to get into the rabbit hole.

Hey I have a question. I am in lightning bluffs, and my people will not fix the train station. I paid the 1000 gold, but the option with the hammer does not appear when I send in a citizen, nor does it in any buildings north of the train station. However, citizens walk in and out of the train station, like they would any other building. Is there something else I need to do (sometimes I close the speech bubbles too quickly and miss vital information) or is my game bugged?

Thanks so much,
Kim

I need drastic help, I am on the level of Paradise Falls, where you go to the side game to get to Stinky Pete with 300 wood to get fertilizer, I am in a never ending circle, I get to Pete, he says to take whtatever I want out back and I win the level, but instead of it taking me back to Paradise falls, to finish the level, it takes me back but it starts me from the beginning, I have had to do it 2 x's already and I don't want to start Paradise Falls again, to get fertilizer, just to start over again, help. Email me please.

I'm stuck at Lightning Bluff: Wong Manor. I have to kill all Wong's associates. So I did that and gathered my people as well but when I got to the very north all I see is a City Hall and a Sheriff. The task list has nothing on it so what am I supposed to do now? I've explored the whole place it's totally empty except for the Sheriff! Help please!

At the "In the wong" task. I already irrigated the road between two signs. And I sent a sheriff there but nothing happended. How could I go to the north saloon?

Error!

Today, when I caught Mr Wong, the game alerted "Encountered Non-existent character when trying to send task message: {bank1}

Then the game loaded to previous stage at "Talk to Simon about going after Mr. Wong". But I coould talk to him because there was no a "!" on him.
